In a society where the Sangha has adopted a life of Asseela
In a country where the rulers have become Aneethika
why not the judges become Ayukthika

So we all can celebrate an order of Adharmishta

“Judges should behave within the judiciary as well as outside it in such a manner as to consolidate the confidence of the people. Judges have no private behaviour. It should be remembered that when oppressive, criminal, arbitrary, despotic actions are taken against the people by the executive or authorities,it is the judiciary that will be the guardian of the people.”

Being a judge is so easy.As a lawyer if your practice is lousy, then be a judge. All these are the results of free education. Thanks to free education we have enough of crooked politicians, crooked government servants, crooked Intellectuals earning $$$ through NGOs,crooked Judges and of course crooked Bomba Gundas.

Oh! So, all this is bcz of free education? Kokage suda penne igilenakota lu. Now we see the real face of Max Silva. No wonder Max is a great supporter of the neo-liberal MR regime. Thanks, Max for revealing yourself.

        Ronald,
There’s nothing called a free lunch.

Max I can not help but agree with you. This so called Free Education being continued has churned a mediocrity for the last fifty yers. So it is no wonder we have half baked Professionals, Educationist, Politicians, Judges, Lawyers, Doctors etc. In the early days under the British this free education had meaning, as free because if the natives did not have to pay for something for which the British owned everything, then it was free. But after Independence it certainly cannot be considered Free Education as it does not come from the Politician’s pocket but from the revenue of the public. The vote for education is passed from the Treasury. Then how can it be free as the public pays with taxes both direct and indirect. The Treasury funds constitute mostly from indirect tax for which the whole society pays. So there is nothing called free education as the society pays for the Education with a high cost of living. Therefore it is about time we woke up from these false myths. There is nothing free now as someone has to work for it.

        Gamini,
Exactly.Free education is a drain on the treasury. It’s the taxes that provide free education. The value of a Srilankan university degree is no more. What we have is hooliganism in universities.Nobody in the private sector wants to employ these trouble makers.Instead they prefer students out of private college(Not so called international schools)even with O’levels. Our doctors are against private universities. But they work in makeshift private hospitals.

It is not only this Judge that violates the Laws of this country as per Traffic Laws. When ordinary people are being fined for speeding, there runs the so called VIP’s right under the nose of the long arm of the Law violating speed laws, with Police escort but are unable to take action. The Law breakers are the vary Law makers in this country. Suba Anagathey Banana Republic!

      Mr Gamini

Last week I had a wonderful experience on the Kandy Rd in the vicinity of Kelaniya university, while I was driving my van at about 30 kmph on the left lane looking for a Lathe work shop, suddenly I saw a Traffic cop nearing me & demanding to know why I am going slow,(Isnt the left lane meant to go slow).
Then I realized i was & obstruction for this stupid cop who wants to go speedily, I simply shrugged off if he charge me I will challenge him in courts but he went past after his remarks.

I did not know whether his lac of knowledge in Traffic Law or arrogance.

This is SriLanka law of the jungle.

What kind of a judge is this moron. He has a facebook page to publish his illegal and criminal activities, and to boast about it with impunity. What does this reflect on? On Mahinda Rajapaksha, the President because he is the one who appoints these idiots to authoritative positions, or if not they are appointed in his name. It shows that the country has no law and order (US take note), and the President or his advisors cares nothing about the country and what it has turned out to be.

This is the calibre of Judges, Magistrates and what not that we have the misfortune of calling our Judiciary in SL! Half- baked Judges, who cannot even read and understand English to top it all and they get churned out from the legal profession into the judiciary. No wonder the justice system has gone to the dogs and together with political interferance in the judiciary, you can only feel sorry for the litigants, who have to appear before these so called Judges.

As stated above, it’s correct that a Judge has no private life, he needs to lead by example and hold himself over and above ordinary people. Unfortunately, these basic ethics and principles have not been taught to these clowns or have been taught and they have opted to forget them! Sri Lanka has become the laughing stock of the world and this just goes to prove it even more.

We certainly have a long long way to go before, we have judges of the calibre put forth by the Indian judicial systems. There maybe many things wrong with India, but they certainly have an independent, vibrant judicial system that any Indian can certainly be proud of!

When you are pointing your finger to others there are four towards you. But you are free to criticize others if you are such a pure & a perfect person like god.

It is not good to publish things in face book since it is private and shared only among friends.

Has this Gentleman done anything wrong when he is performing his duty ??.

Feel awful to share personal things through face book openly.

Disgusting. Are they the people who judge others? How can he punish the others who commit offences under the Motor Traffic Act? He should resign immediately. If not, Judicial Services Commission should sack him immediately. Shame on you judges of Sri Lanka. Judicial Service Association should protect the interests of the other members of the Sri Lanka Judicial Service from unfitting conduct of this so-called judge, who happens to be the Vice President of the Association.

This judge has done nothing wrong.I came from Canada last week and had the previlledge of driving through the sourthern highway used by this Hon. Judge. At the Kottawa entrance gate to the highway I questioned the officer in charged of the speed limits of the highway and I was informed the max speed limit is 120Km/h and there is no minimum speed limit but adviced me to maintain 80Km/h as lowest. This article of yours has no basis but I beleive you are trying to get publicity to your website by publishing these kind of news.I have lost the credibility of your website as a non sri lankan. please try to publish honest news.

      Selladurey.
You are a true Tamil gent with intelligence. As for your comment with regarding to this web site,pl look at the positive side. With the drubbing they got at Nandikadal, the Tamil Tigers are almost extinct.I wish i could show you a few Tamil Tigers in safari fashion. But i am afraid it’s a herculean task. There may be one or two tigers left, but they are deep inside the jungle. But still you will be able to witness a few Tamil Tigers turned Hyenas here. From time to time they prowl around here looking for any food that is left behind by Lions.Myself being kind hearted throw the occasional bone to the starving Tigers turned Hyenas. But nevertheless they insult me all the time.My Lioness is fed up with these ungrateful two legged fellows. But considering the beating they received at Nandikadal, one has to be sympathetic.

Well done CT for exposing these chauvinist Sinhalese who write under Tamil names and pretending to be domiciled outside. See the fabricated story of this false Jeganathan from Badulla, trying to mislead the readers to safeguard the corrupt in this country. Damn shame!

CT,that’s a very strange comment from you.Do you comment on others also the same way?Anyway i will take a note of this and may be keep it for future reference. There are so many others who say i am living here,i am living there. But i have never heard of you commenting on their authenticity.Anyway in general i prefer for everyone to declare the origins of their replies.Even getting rid of aliases and replacing with real names, will be a great idea. There are various bogus characters here who pretend to be Sinhalese. How about them?

name is not that important , What is important here is the ideas. If we accept Max’s proposal, he cannot claim he is a Sinhalease too, coz his name is not a Sinhala name.

This is the judge who asked to slap an accuse who begged for a bail out. A person who was in remand for months at last last questioned judge Aravinda Perera at the Pugoda magistrate court and judge responded ordering the court securities to slap him (Okage kanata gahanna, It was few months back and given a wide media coverage as well. That time his clarification was the judiciary should act according to the law and No one is above it. Is it true?

we know how good this judge is.please dont use the public platforms to attack people on personal grounds. it is not ethical.Face Book is a personal affair and leave it that way.

    • 0

Then why is this guy restricted viewing his FB profile for public after this news published? Check his profile and see how flirting with his fellow female lawyers and discussing the judiciary matters?

  • 0

When you put it out there on Face Book it is not really personal and it becomes public knowledge. That is why people get fired from their jobs on the strength of what is posted on Face Book and Companies shift through Face Book Material when hiring and firing. Judge or average civilian violation of traffic laws is a violation of traffic was.

To Judge Dushantha Epitawala- Have act as an responsible citizen? Do you act in the same way in your past judgements? Don’t forget how you talked the responsibilities while you were in the law college and the school.
