Why didn’t JVP call for Bondscam Ranil to be impeached when the PCOI Report was published and go on the streets? Afterall, Handunetti worked hard on the exposure the Bondscam, but AKD sidelined him with his constitution 20 amendment game!
Ranil brought the Central Bank, the most important financial institution in the county into utter disrepute. Since then, NO FDI came to Sri Lanka, because no foreign investor will bring money to a country where corruption is the order of the day. Only dodgy investors like Horanna tire factory and light rail scam projects..
LKY of Singapore made that country great by having a policy of zero tolerance of Corruption and meritocracy. RW did the opposite and put his cronies and friends to loot the Central Bank of Lanka. He should have been impeached for this.

The performance at the local government elections do not indicate anything. It is true JVP is not a major party but at this point it is about the country, people, rule of law and democracy. We all know the person or the party who won Presidential electon by 57% in 2010 lost his power in 2015 after completely destroying the rule of law, justice and democracy. Similarly, the President who won with 62 million votes did not even get 10% of that in the local election. At this jucture when there is a threat to democracy by the current and previous Presidents and every one in the country should join together to save the democracy and the culture of this island. AKD is attacking Sirisena, Maithri and Ranil. Most of what he says is true and he has every right to expose them. He is promoting his own party; fair enough that’s what a party leader should be doing. The problem is that he is ducking the principal question of the moment.
By voting one way or the other, or by abstaining, the JVP will be fully responsible (along with the TNA) for allowing one of the following to happen.
a) Rejecting the constitutionality of removing Ranil (Nothing to do with endorsing him as a PM)
OR
b) Endorsing Mahinda the Prime Minister
This is the choice today, however much he tries to avoid saying so. It’s not a nice dilemma to be in but AKD is ducking a clear-cut answer to this choice. But he HAS to make the choice. Therefore he lacks the clarity and definiteness needed of a good leader.
