Two days after he told the BBC that he did not believe that an international investigation into massive human rights abuses during the war in Sri Lanka would not be “practical” Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma told Channel 4 in an interview tonight that the probe was a matter for the United Nations.

Sharma insisted that the Commonwealth has been making progress to address human rights issues for the people of Sri Lanka, including addressing torture and reconciliation of the two sides in Sri Lanka’s bloody civil war.
But addressing whether or not the military committed grave human rights atrocities in the closing stages of the war, including allegations over the killing of civilians and summary executions, was a matter for the United Nations, Sharma told Channel 4’s Jonathan Snow.
“In the time to come, I trust that people will see… that indeed very significant advances have been made in the interests of the people of Sri Lanka,” Sharma, who is often optimistic about Sri Lanka said in the interview.

Kamaleah Sharma, the disgraceful ex-civil servant of India now holdis the position of Secretary General of Commonwealth has been bought over by criminal stratocracy of MR and now Sharma is a tool in the hands of MR to cover up grave human right atrocities against peoples’ legitimate right to oppose, arrests and disappearances of journalists and war crimes and allegations over killings of civilians in the closing stages of civil war in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka military is undoubtedly one of the most uncultured and indiscipline militia in the world. The mass grave uncovered of Sinhalese youths killed during uprisings in 1989 , recent killings of unarmed innocent people in Weliweriya ,on -going investigations into rape of women and children by Sri Lankan military in UN peace keeping force etc demonstrate that wherever Sri Lankan militia goes it will be killing fields and looting and raping fields and other criminalities.They are a set of bloody cowards who become war-hero before the unarmed and the innocence.
There is national need to rehabilitate the ruthless militias who have increasing becoming the root cause for heinous crimes committed in the society. The criminal mind set of militia should need to indoctrinate for a peaceful, serene and composed life. MR instead uses these military to run the civil administration to consolidate his criminal stratocracy. The commonwealth nations should not directly and indirectly become party to further worsening the rotten Sri Lankan civil administration.
MR though uneducated he is cunningly and deceitfully bought over Sharma to restrain exposing Sri Lanka human rights picture to governing body of Commonwealth when the decision to hold the Summit in Colombo. This hurdle MR has cunningly cleared with the help of Sharma. Now Commonwealth will be held in Colombo with much fun and fair at the expensed of the poor in Sri Lanka which the Heads of state could much enjoy.
What is the role of Commonwealth where a member state, like Sri Lanka, falls short of the observance of fundamental commonwealth principles? This is a crucial and fundamental point in issue for the people who ultimately foot the bill for this ordeal.
Participation by a Head of state or representing in a Conference holding in such state would be completely different issue. But what the benefit the people would get in holding in Sri Lanka the Conference of the commonwealth of nations where the nation states are knitted together to uphold its principles unless a ruling is made against Sri Lanka in terms of commonwealth principles compelling Sri Lanka to espouse and advocate adherence to and necessity of restore democracy, rule of law and human rights of the society.
If no such positive action is taken it amounts to gross endorsement of the ever deteriorating societal standards, morals and civilized moral codes as far as Sri Lanka is concerned and the beginning of the end of Commonwealth.
Nevertheless the Commonwealth without being in isolation should also take note of the possible war crime allegations over the killings of civilians and summary execution by the military during final stages of civil war under international law is in the offing.
Commonwealth should also look in to the possibility of taking the matter of mass grave uncovered of Sinhalese youths killed during uprisings in 1989 as the ruling party is now making a sinister attempt to conceal with the help of Chinese who alleged used MR to rig his presidential election results.
No nation people like to safeguard criminals other than the perpetrator themselves
