Oh, oh here is Nimalka, who runs with the hare and hunts with the hounds – an NGO lady on the international conference circuit whose partner is a DEAD LEFTIST – Vasu – the Rajapassa’s Cabinet.

Nimalka who should have organized DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE’S PROTESTS on the streets instead of the cute and elite NGO alternate CHOGM – is now playing brave soul!

She is a symptom of the sick, conformist, and ailing “civil society” ELITE of Colombo that has betrayed the people and is part of the same CHOGM circus that they claim to criticize.

Oh! here is Malkenthie ta, malapanela that Nimalka had told a mouthful of truths. She seems damn wild the whole world have now come to know who this MURDERER MR is.

Great job Nimalka even at the risk of your own life. We simple Sri Lankans who have no agenda are very proud of your guts.

On SLBC they called her a prostitute. I don’t think you managed to say anything more degrading. I’m curious… are you capable of anything other than denigrating people?

So, any thoughts on the issues raised?

This is true. The Civil society, trade unions and opposition have been bought off and live on fake patriotism today.

The left has not protested against the big waste of funds on CHOGM which is a colonial rich man’s club by the regime. They are fake patriots like Pathala Champika and Wimal Weerawansa who attack minorities but will not criticize Rajapassa and the useless CHOGM show.

Not a single protest to hold CHOGM and Rajapakse ACCOUNTABLE to the people of Sri Lanka has been held.

      This is a shameful thing!

MR and co are not worried about war crimes or human rights violations. They are like typhoon haiyan. Their aim is to do destruction to any one resist them. Channel 4 journalists be aware you may be killed by accident or at least food poisioning. MR&GR are so powerful.

Actually, these C-4 guys are a really brave bunch. Knowing you life is in danger these guys fly right into the monsters mouth.

If anyone of them is harmed I bet the Sri Lankan government will be in a lot of hot water. But that is not much consolation to you if you are the one who is dead, right? But these guys are still taking the risk and going around in Sri Lanka as if there is no problem.

Interestingly, it is the Rajapaksa supporters who warn C4 team of horrendous things to happen to them; the same things they claim do not happen in Sri Lanka. Not a very smart bunch are they?

Well, well, Civil society and UNP opposition party should have led a people’s protests on the streets of Colombo at this time but the streets are deserted. The fact is that civil society and UNP opposition has vacated post.
Gota the goon would not have dared shoot protesters with all the VIPs in town. UNP and civil society have merely exaggerated the threat posed by Rajapassa goons and done nothing because they are bought.
Nimalka Fernando’s partner is a Rajapakse Cabinet Minister for National Languages, after all!
This is a HISTORIC MISSED OPPORTUNITY FOR the UNP, POLITICAL OPPOSITION and CIVIL SOCIETY in Sri Lanka – who have all been bought off in different ways. Only the courageous people of Jaffna will protest the crowing of the Rajapassa dictatorship at the CHOGM circus it seems.
When history is written the biggest failure of the Colombo Commonwealth Circus of 2013 would be the FAILURE of civil soceity activists and OPPOSITION and UNP to call a people’s PROTEST MARCH ON CHOGM to tell the world the Truth about the Rajapassa military dictatorship.

Kalupahana, you are absolutely correct. A protest march to coincide with the SHOWGM was what came to my mind during the run up to it. But we don’t have anyone to take the lead with ferocity and courage so that ordinary right thinking people like us can join in a protest. Gota would not be able to do anything. BUT of course they would have taken photographs and the white van would have taken us. So what does it boil down to, for some like us its fear not for my life but the repercussions to my family which applies to many and the other is who wants to give up the good life when one can benefit from the regime. Take as much as you can when the going is good.
What a pathetic situation we Sri Lankans have put ourselves into.

        Kalupahana & Rathu,

        Agree with you both.

People of Sri Lanka should cease this moment. Teach the corrupt family clan a lesson. In front of 1/3 of the world which is The Commonwealth.

Instead, UNP, Ranil & his cronies including that clown Sajith are nowhere to be seen.

They are busy plotting their own survival and managing their self-interests. Shameful monkeys!

Agonized people of Sri Lanka are left without an opposition taking charge. No leadership lead them through Rajapassa barricades.

UNP has restricted itself to News conferneces and newspaper articles.

Where is the real leadership required in the face this cunning, brutal, corrupt dictatorship?

Where are the massive, yet peaceful street demos required? To scare the hell out of Sri Lanka’s corrupt rulers.

Where are the leaders who can lead from the front? Fearless, honest & are willing to lay down their lives for the love of our country.

Sri Lanka does not lack ordinary citzens who are brave enough to face off the dictator. If not for these endlessly in-fighting, self-serving, leading cowards of the opposition.

        Shameful!

        Cheers!

Ben, it is easily said than done. RW does not want more dead for him to come to power as then all the anti Ranil will point a finger at him that he is power crazy. He is the only Politician who refrains from violence to come to power, whereas all others kill each other to get elected, claiming to work for the country and the masses. This is the Difference between Ranil and the other Politicians in the country.

Ben, you are so right. The opposition is a misnomer- they are part of the problem and gutless, power hungry, greedy ,selfish mongrels who feed off the crumbs the king offers. SL citizens bar the Tamils are cowards and will not come out to express their dissatisfaction as they are too busy and immersed in accumulating wealth for the next generation of gutless prickless shits. Hail mighty Rajapakse backed by your gladiators but remember what happened to your friend Gaddafi!!

The more I think about it the more I feel that Nimalka is so disingenuous it is unreal. She and the Women and Media NGO outfit are constantly on the international and UN conference circuit pretending to fight for Human Rights, but have shown NO solidarity with the protesting women of the Northern Province who tried to come to Colombo to talk about their missing and disappeared loved ones. They were turned back in Vavuniya.
In bed with Rajapassa Cabinet Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara the DEAD LEFTIST – Nimalka avoids the big picture – and rather makes herself the “tragic victim” and focus of attention here..
Colombo womens’ groups and civil society with few few exception are really the pits, along with Ranil Wickramasinghe’s so-called Feminist wife – sorry to say!

Well, I don’t agree with Kalupahana’s idea that the UNP should go around protesting. I’m no supporter of this stupid party who used to do the same kind of stupid sheit back in their day.

If UNP were to demonstrate they would come out looking like a bunch of opportunists, when Sri Lanka is supposed to look good. Sri Lankans are big on looking good to the outsiders. That’s why people in Sri Lanka, quickly take the dirty linen, piled up on the living room chair, and throw it on a bed as soon as someone knocking on the front door. They like to look good.

If you are a boxing fighter you know you don’t come out looking good trying to hit your opponent when he is down. In this case the opponent is down but kicking himself silly. So, you just go to the corner and watch it with the rest of the audience and may be give a little interview to the sportscaster at the game. Why ruin a good thing?

Katmal – This is FAKE PATRIOTISM – Rajapassa style! No one, least of all the Brits and the international community is fooled by your attempts to cover up the dirty little secrets and dirty linen of the Rajapassa regime…

The fact is that the sick and shameless UNP factions are busy protesting and killing each other in Matara and Colombo and have no time to deal with the BIG PICTURE – the Rajapassa scum and their cronies and military machine!

Lets see whether the commonwealth priciples, values and human rights charter are implemented by the new Chairman of CHOGM. If not what? Is there any mechanism for the removal or impeachment of a renegade Chairman?

    Mr. President,
you have put the whole of Sri Lanka in very poor light…!
Having committed war crimes, suppressed human rights, silenced journalists and caused them to disappear, why on earth did you have to hold this stupid SHOW GAME? Surely, weren’t you satisfied enough with the games you were playing with the lives of poor Sri Lankans??

Why is everyone worried of white vans etc. We have always had Green Tigers, LTTE bombs and all that, and we have the biggest and powerful weapon in the hand to use against anyone we don’t like. It is called the VOTE.

Miller and Snow were denouncing the various heads of government who would go to Colombo to shake the hand of the President of Sri Lanka, because Ch 4 had alleged that he was a war criminal. What did we see yesterday though was that this very same Miller approaching the President with hand EXTENDED to shake that ‘unholy’ hand and seeking an interview.

    Another defeat for Tamils!

C4 is filming CHOGM Tamils want disrupted.

Will Callum reveal to MR the names of Tamils who gave false evidence so he can white van them?

    Come on people,

It can’t be all that bad if MR could stop and shake the hand of a journalist from a news media which is most antagonistic to him.

I for one do think CHOGM is good for Sri Lanka in the long run. It is better to engage Sri Lanka than to isolate it. The alternative is close all borders and live in secrecy like North Korea. You really wouldn’t want to go there. The more we open up the less xenophobic we become and the more we have to live up to expectations. The more the leadership strives for praise from other countries the better it translates to the rank and file in Sri Lanka.

Cameron has promised to bring up the HR issue with Rajapaksa and it will be interesting to see if he has the courage to do so. Failure would ring the Commonwealth’s death knell as it would be proof positive that it’s an out of date body that has no relevance in today’s world.

Thank you Channel 4 for coming out to rescue Democrazy in Sri Lanka, where the local Independent Media is been Supressed by thye Hambanthota “Gan Kabarayas”….aka Village Crocodiles.

It is time the CHOGM members only should give the Chairmanship to Gan Kabaraya only if he abides by the Commonwealth Values. Otherwise they should appoint a new Chairman from another country.

What have all these “Human Rights Activists” done for the last so many years? I heard that this lady speaks of “death threats” and SLBC calling her a prostitute etc.The question I pose to all these “God Sent Samaritans” is: Have you ever taken a step forward to educate the ordinary masses of their “Rights” and what type of protection you have given to them, excepting you bunch of people living on “handsome foreign emoluments”? We know one such person who has gone to the extent of prosecuting a Foreign Government for millions of unpaid contract money. He is still running his “BUSINESS” of “Human Rights Organization” even in the absence of “HUMANS” in his camp. I call upon all these so called “Human Right Activists” to show how many “HUMANS” are in their “CAMP” to show strength. Do these people address the issues and problems of the “grass root” level and have come up with any type of solutions. What they so far have done was to address “media conferences” and go on accusations that are very creative in many instances and show their “pay masters” a mighty lot of work performed. The real test and assessment of quality of their work must come from the ordinary masses of the country. Have they even being able to bring about a “twist” in the day to affairs which can be clearly seen at a time of even a local election. Please don’t tell me these elections are “jillmarts”.

All these “Human Right Activists” who call themselves “STALWARTS AND GUARDIANS” must make a “self assessment” and ask the question: “Are we or must we continue to be in these positions any more longer and continue in the traditional methods so far adopted OR change the course and go and mingle with the “grass roots” level and bring awareness to bring about a change? You will know you have failed and you also have admitted it in these “Media Circus”.

Let me tell you. So far this “HUMAN RIGHT ACTIVISM IS NOTHING BUT A MULTI MILLION IF NOT BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY AND BIG BUSINESS ORGANIZED AND CONTROLLED BY AN ELITE CLASS OF HUMANS”.

Unfortunately the Sri Lanka Governmental Authorities have completely forgotten to include this subject and invite some of the BIG WIGS in the field to the BUSINESS FORUM of the CHOGM.
