The “Losers’ Corner”! How many votes do these guys have? How many seats do these guys have? Its amazing how the guys who were involved in various rackets, including forged birth certificates, identity cards and wrongfully obtained diplomatic passport have got together. Remember the saying “birds of a feather flock together”?

VICTORY AND DEMOCRACY IN sri Lanka -SOON

We server you Mahinda as you server the Nation and we salute you

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-sAFOAErWlQ

Mahinda Samaga Rata dinaweemata oba sudanamdha commenced on Wednesday evening in Nugegoda.

The rally is being held at the Ananda Samarakoon open air theater in Nugegoda.

The rally has been organised by the National Freedom Front, the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna, the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya and the Democratic Leftist Front.

A group including parliamentarians Wimal Weerawansa, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Dinesh Gunawardena and Provincial Councilor Udaya Gammanpila are among those present for the rally.

In addition, Chief Minister of the Western province Prasanna Ranathunga, Provincial Minister Nimal Lansa, Geethanjana Gunawardan, Spokesperson of the NFF Mohammed Muzammil, Prof. Nalin de Silva, Dr. Dayan Jayathilake, western Provincial Councilor Sisira Jayakody, Roger Senevirathne and Chairman of the Kelaniya PS Prasanna Ranaweera were also present.

Speaking at the rally, Leader of the Democratic Leftist Front Wasudeva Nanayakkara said that the Executive power legislature has been taken away.

Adding that power in parliament is vested with the majority, Vasudeva Nanayakkara said that the Prime Minister needs to be appointed through the majority vote.

He added that the appoinment of Ranil Wikremesinghe to the post of Prime Minister has taken away the power of parliament.

Meanwhile speaking at a press conference, leader of the National Unity Front, Azad Sally said that everyone in SLFP has been instructed not to participate in the rally.

Azath Sally has openly challenged the organizers of this rally to show 5000 attendees and he would resign his position as a provincial mp. I was there at the rally; even a blind could see there were people many times that number. So, Sally should have resigned.

Now Sally has come with an excuse not to resign: True to his extremist religion, the bugger says the rally was a racist one because there were many people carrying Buddhist flags. To tell the truth, I have not seen one Buddhist flag. Every other man had a national flag and an image of MR. True, there were Buddhistic traditions observed at the start of the meeting and a speech by a leading monk. Only idiots would say, that is not normal for such meetings regardless the party.

There would not be more than 5000 attendees, if taken to account the stranded folks who got caught to the traffic due to road closure…moreover Nugegoda is a HUB which lot of folks use as a transit point..

So the visually impaired might be right… I hate to use the word Blind

Being visually impaired is fine, but being visually impaired when one has vision is stupid..

Read this article which was published in the Island news paper today

          The Abortive 3rd Coup

Around 2.00 am on Jan. 09 I received a telephone call from a close relative of mine. He wanted to know why there had been a delay in the release of the presidential election results. He said he had seen the announcement of results had been suspended on a TV channel until further notice. He also said that he had seen some STF personnel going into the Counting Centre of D.S. Senanayake College and that there was confusion all round. He said that A Plan had been hatched a few days before the Presidential Election by the Presidential Secretariat to subvert the announcing of the election results in the event of President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s defeat. He told me that the plan was to seize power and postpone the announcement of the election results by the Election Commissioner, on the basis that there had been violence in the country.

I was angry with the caller and as, by that time, all information, official and unofficial, was that Maithripala Sirisena was winning the elections. I told him that the election results would be announced and he had to wait. But then, thereafter, I received a call from the present Sri Lankan Ambassador to South Africa, Sarath Kongahage, who said the official website of the Election Commissioner had been tampered with and that no one could log onto it. Then, I felt a little suspicious about my relation’s call and immediately called A. J. M. Muzammil, the Mayor of Colombo. Muzammil said that he, too, had received such information and in order to check the veracity of the information, he had received, he proceeded to D. S. Senanayake College. He stated that everything was smooth and normal there and that there was no official order from the Commissioner of Elections to postpone the announcement of Election results. When the election results were announced Mahinda Rajapaksa had been defeated.

A few days later, almost everyone, who had some interest in politics, was talking about the alleged coup attempt by the Rajapaksa government. They were very curious and gave various interpretations to the following facts. Why did the President summon the three Service Commanders and the IGP to Temple the Trees? What was Mohan Peiris, the Chief Justice, doing at Temple Trees when the election results were being announced? Why did the President summon the Attorney General to Temple Trees? The rumour mill began churning out stories which boiled down to the claim that President Rajapaksa had planned to disregard the people’s verdict and run the country under a semi-military dictatorship.

At the same time, various social media websites published various stories about the alleged coup attempt. One may dismiss as false what is published on the websites as Sri Lankan Law on Civil Defamation has no jurisdiction over those sites operated from Europe or other parts of the world, but what was carried in a local tabloid newspaper shocked me, as it gave a detailed and a vivid description of the entire plan of the government to stay in power, irrespective of the decision of the people to oust Rajapaksa. The long article gave names of various Army Officers, high ranking and low ranking officers, to whom specific instructions had been given to take out troops and surround strategic locations. It was almost impossible for anyone, even the best fiction writer to hatch such a plot with so much insider information. So I presumed that what my relation told me was the initial stages of the alleged coup attempt.

Then came Ranil Wickremesinghe’s statement that when he went to Temple Trees around 3.00 am he had seen the Chief Justice Mohan Pieris in the company of the President. When the Prime Minister asked him what he was doing there he had said that he had come to give some legal advice to the President. The Prime Minister said he had then reminded him that as the Chief Justice of this country and it was not his duty to give legal advice to the President and that would be done by the Attorney General who was already there.

The media social websites and the politicians immediately created four heroes—Attorney General Yuvanjan Wijayatilleke, Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya, IGP N.K. Illangakoon and Army Commander Daya Ratnayake. The story doing the rounds in the elitist circles was that President Rajapaksa was in the new wing of Temple Trees and initial information received by them was very encouraging. President Rajapaksa is supposed to have instructed his supporters to get the PSOs or other officers loyal to him to look at the way people voted. They had been asked to follow the movement of voters’ hands in the polling booth and guess whom they voted for—Mahinda or Maithripala! The PSOs and other officers reported back that only one out of ten people voted for the Opposition candidate and everyone at Temple Trees, including the Rajapaksa brothers were jubilant. There were people to inform Temple Trees of the postal vote results before they were released to the public. Everyone knew from the past experience that postal vote results indicated the public mood.

Gradually, it dawned on the Rajapaksas that the President was losing. The shocking news came from Nuwara Eliya believed to be Thondaman’s bastion; the government had lost with such a huge majority. Basil Rajapaksa said there was no way such a huge majority could be set off with majorities for the President elsewhere.

Then a dejected President with others moved out of the new wing and went to the other part of Temple Trees. It was clear that the President was heading for a defeat. Then he decided to put Plan B hatched one month prior to the election into action so that he could stay in power. Troops were moved out and placed in strategic locations. Immediately, the Elections Commissioner was told not to issue election results until further notice. The initial delay in relaying the election results was due to this. Uniformed officers were sent to the Election Commissioner who shouted at them and threw them out of the office, refusing to carry out illegal orders. Then his official website was jammed and the Commissioner got it fixed. In the meantime, the President instructed and informed the Service Commanders and the IGP that Emergency should be declared and the announcement of the election results must be put on hold. The IGP quickly refused to do any such thing as he decided the situation was normal in the country and there was no need for declaring a curfew. But, the consensus was that they should obtain advice from the Attorney General.

When the Attorney General was contacted, he informed the Solicitor General Bimba Thilekeratne and she had consulted another expert on Emergency Laws in the Department, and they were of the view that there was no reason to either declare a state of emergency or impose a curfew. At that time, the Chief Justice, who had been at Temple Trees, had told the AG that it was the President who was issuing those orders and others had to obey them. But, the AG steadfastly refused to change the stand taken by his colleagues. The Army Commander then said that he was not in a position to carry out an order which the Attorney General deemed illegal.

Thereafter, Ranil Wickremasinghe was woken up and informed of the serious situation that was developing and he tried to contact the President, but was unable to do so. He then went to the President’s Office with Thiru Nadesan, Nirupama Rajapaksa’s husband. Presient Rajapaksa had to accept the reality and leave Temple Trees even before dawn.

This is the story which has been related over and over again in the elitist Colombo circles. I strove to find out who the author was and whether he was present when this happened at Temple Trees. They were reluctant to give the name other than to say that he was a lawyer.

          (To be continued next week)

              Jonty ,

Just leave this coup business aside for the time being , tell me why haven’t any of the other wrong doers been arrested ? only Thissa A and Thewarappruma had been arrested , have you ever bothered to think deeply what might be the reason ? surprise , surprise soon after arrest Thissa A ending up in the Prison hospital then straight away got bail out , wonder why ? what about the Asia’s drug Barron Dumia , endless questioning , no arrest ! then what about Wimal Booruwansa’s spouse , Mahindagamge , Rohitha A, Sajin W , Gamini S , Johny et al , now don’t tell these are all made up stories ! have you ever wondered who would give clearance to Yoshitha to travel overseas ?

compare to most obvious ones above , alleged coup doesn’t fall any where nearer to those old day light robberies , so a mutt like you can dance and eat kiribath on the middle of a motor-way , just have some patience MY3 needs to get the control of the machinery from Ranil Rajapakse !

                Srilal
JVP carefully avoided direct support to UNP & My3
combination by only saying no to MARA.Now that MARA
out of the ring but looks like a busy spectator. In
the mean time,JVP is in the front playing the role
of dusting the files of corrupt deals to get the
new govt’s genuine attention but knowing very well
that it won’t so easily happen. It’s because the
JVP experience about both the SLFP and the UNP is,
“Munuth ekai Unuth ekai.” Their message across the
country is now getting some attention and any
rush to punish the culprits at a crucial juncture
like this will only make life easier for the JVP.
This could be one reason why there’s a delay in
justice. That’s my thinking but what I believe is,
                justice at any cost.

We the right respecting people of this country thank President Sirisena to have restored decmocracy by sending a tyrrant home.

iF Mahinda would have won the eleciton, no oppostion rally of today#s Nugegoda would have been allowed. Perhaps, they the Rajapakshe would have killed the opposition men by using Army forces to the very same manner they did with the peaceful demonstrators faced in Rathupaswala while they were holding those marches asking for clean drinking water.

Jayawewa, we have democracy today under the leadership of MY3:
Today most malicious man of the nation -Dayan Jayathilaka had got on the stage to express the communique of Mahinda Rajapakshe. That says everything about So called political scientist Dayan Jayathilaka

        • 3
          7

If there was no democracy under MR as you say, how come MR called for a Presidential election prior to the required date and many opposition parties could join together and had a common candidate and campaigned throughout the island and voters voted with no threat or impersonation and minimum violence and won. We see there was more democracy under MR than Ranil/Chandrika/Sirisena regime.

Wimal weerawanse should be kept away from public association can allow this country to reach peace and harmony. Fear mongering not knowing or getting anything right but having the talent to manipulate and even make many fools – he has been doing a greater harm – even worst than that of Ltte LEADER did.

        2

None of right thinking ones would feel – against MY3 if he would take actions to quickly make arrangements to put the Rajapakshes behind the bars. There are thousands of compalints act against them. They are brutal as their fake costumes exhibit it. Those white costumes are provabely soaked by the blood of the innocient people of the country.
Right at the moment, me being a sinhalaya, but being against Rajanos.. ready to fight bringing him to Hague.. I hate the man and his politics.. so devious has no body been on this soil. TH eman earn the same path as Premadasa faced it. Premadasa was thousand times better than Rajapakshe when it goes for the benefit of the poor

These so called leftists are as threat as any other extremists of Wimal buruwanse while struggling all other politicians to bring parade the people in order to build up the war torn society today. iF i WERE in the politics, I would exercise execuitive powers to silence Wimal weerawanse et al – proving the nation the damage the men are up to are as dangerous as any terrorists would do.

A stauch supporter of Rajapaksa and former diplomat Dayan Jayatilleke was also present at the event. A large crowd was seen at the rally and roads in and around Nugegoda were blocked due to the event.

tHIS IS THE MOTHER OF ALL ARLLIES even the Donkey LTTE Tamil Emigre Monkey couldn’t get a huge crowd like this out during 2009.

The people in this country have seen the Ugly danget and Nepotisam of this new governmnet in this short time

I repeat “Please Hang King Kong, before he hangs you”.

People expect it now. Not later. “Good Governance Gang’s” days are numbered otherwise.

There is ample evidence of crimes committed. Case is clear & strong. King Kong should be in jail. Along with his former cronies and notorious family members.

Please do it in a transparent, credible manner. Do not do a “Mohan Pieris”. So that monkeys still worshipping the former King will come to their senses.

President Sirisena should take direct responsibility for promises given to the people. Mandate was given to him.

Cannot expect justice when corrupt John Amaratunga is in charge of Police. Who’s son-in-law happens to be a Rajapassa crony called Dinesh Weerakoddy, Deputy Speaker.

      Cheers!

PS: Scoundrels are beating the drum of racism & pseudo nationalism. How horrible to see Vasudeva, Dew, Vitharana & Dr. DJ on the same stage with corrupt Modawansa. Progressive people of this country will puke.

All the dirty Racists on one platform spreading lies (false information). Nearly half a million Rajapakshe supporters have gathered here, this is a very serious matter. Maithree and Ranil are damn fools, at least now they should open their eyes before it is too late. Unless both Maithree and Ranil formulate a strategy, Mahinda Rajapakshe will come back to hang them. Forget the 100 day program, let it delay, first prosecute all these culprits and send them to jail. Until then, postpone the general election. Otherwise, your government will come to an end in 100 days. Do not give nomination to Rajapakshe bootlickers, let them form their own party. The SLFP under Maithree and the UNP under Ranil should form a coalition to contest the next general election in order to form a national government. People elected Maithree as president not to hand over the government to Mahinda after 100 days. If you do not use your execute powers to hang these culprits, they will definitely hang you.

Current govt should work on putting these Rajapakshe behind the bars for all the fund abuses they have made durin gthe reign of Mahinda Rajpaakshe. Current administration has to work on those issues sooner than later so that people can feel that MR and thugs were real against the poor of the nation.

Dr. Dayan Jayatilleke was MR’s messenger and has taken his political corner. The thug Gnanasara was also there in yellow robes. This was the grain of rice that showed how well cooked MR’s pot of rice is and not the crowd! However, Wimal, Dinesh and Vasu have proved that they are a grateful lot, who appreciate they will not have a political life without MR.

Exercising executive powers – Presdident should bring a law against any kind of extremists to be kept away. Most of all the ibola virueses like Wimal buruwanshe et al should be kept away from animating people further. The very man on the stage keeping MR aside attacked current president so abusive manner as no civlized would respect it. So him to stay set free even today is a greater threat to lanken democracy. We dont want democracy of this kind, but social democratic actions can shape up the society, as Germany, Singapore, Japan and the like countries practise.
In Germany, if people woul rise up to the manner as Wimal Buruwanse Gommanpila act today – they the rulers will act within minutes to put them behing the bars. Besides, these men are charged with complaints to have gone wrong over the last few years.

Former minister Wimal Weerawansa’s wife Sashi Weerawansa who is alleged to have obtained diplomatic and general passports by submitting birth certificate with forged names and dates of birth, has reportedly fled her home according to the CID team assigned to arrest her said.

The special CID team which arrived at her residence in Kaduwela said they could not find her there. The team had also searched several other houses believed to be possible hideouts according to the police.

At the meeting held in Nugegoda on February 18 Wimal Weerawansa questioned why the arrest of her wife was delaying and challenged that they were awaiting the police. A senior police officer said he might have said so knowing her wife’s plan to escape.

He said the police would however take Sashi Weerawansa into custody within the next few days.

Police said she had obtained a general passport in May last year furnishing an application with the name of Sirja Uyanthi Weerawansa and date of birth as 01.02.1967 whereas she has given the name as Randunu Mudiyanselage Shehasa Udayanthi and the date of birth as 03.02.1971 in the application she submitted to obtain the diplomatic passport, police said.

Seven police teams have been deployed in Kandy , Gampaha and Colombo to search and arrest Sashi Weerawansa police said.(Indika Ramanayake) – See more at: http://www.dailymirror.lk/64331/shashi-on-the-run#sthash.bFvmA9Yd.dpuf

This idiot tried to spoil the career of the current President Maithripala Sirisena.. now cries foul about his career. He should be jailed for the mockery and how insulting he was, further he was also using the Tissas’s document on political stages… SO arrest him along with his wife… and lock em up …aney hutan ai hutan denn andanne hutan?

      Shashi sick; probe delayed

Responding to reports which said his wife was to be arrested in a few days the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna (JNP) Leader and former minister Wimal Weerawansa said his wife, Shashi Weerawansa was only asked to come to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on February 19.

In a statement Mr. Weerawansa said this request was made by the CID in writing though the Talangama Police on February 18.

The Former Minister said they had informed the CID that his wife was not able to come on that date since she was indisposed.

Therefore he said a request was made to postpone the inquiry through a lawyer while a medical report was also submitted.
Shashi sick; probe delayed Shashi sick; probe delayed
However, he said she had to be hospitalised since her condition worsened. He said this was done after informing the CID.

Mr. Weerawansa therefore said an agreement was reached with the CID to carry out an inquiry after her recovery on a new day.

The JNP Leader charged that interrogation of his wife was aimed at destroying him politically.

He said the request for his wife to report to CID was made just hours after he participated in a political rally in Nugegoda on February 18. –

Here is an article on these sadists, a must read:

Behind the online comments: the psychology of internet trolls
Following revelations by YouTube star PewDiePie and TV historian Mary Beard, the issue of how to manage trolls is back in the spotlight

Readers’ comments are an important, yet often overlooked, type of user-generated content. And some readers are much more likely to post and read comments than others. Trolling, the act of posting disruptive or inflammatory comments online in order to provoke fellow readers, has been the focus of much recent attention.

PewDiePie (Felix Kjellberg), the world’s most popular YouTuber, recently decided to ban comments on his channel because of his inability to silence trolls. There are now fears that he may lose fans or migrate to another platform. A week before that, TV historian and Cambridge professor Mary Beard revealed that she had written a letter of recommendation for one of her trolls – a university student who insulted her and was subsequently exposed online. Professor Beard reasoned that the student should not pay such a high price for “one moment of idiocy”, and that her reference would make up for the students’ reputational damage, which she helped inflict.

So, why do trolls troll and how should we manage them? Although research in this area is still in its infancy, a few psychological studies have attempted to answer these questions. There are three important lessons learned.

First, trolls are more likely to display noxious personality characteristics, that is, traits that impair one’s ability to build relations and function in a civilised or pro-social way. In a comprehensive examination of their psychological profile, trolls were found to be more Machiavellian (impulsive and charming manipulators), psychopathic (cold, fearless and antisocial), and especially sadist than the overall population. Trolls enjoy harming and intimidating others, so much so that the authors of this study concluded that trolls are “prototypical everyday sadists”, and that trolling should be regarded as online sadism. This is in line with the view of trolling as a form of cyberbullying.

Second, trolling – like other forms of computer-mediated communication – unleashes people’s impulses by providing anonymity and temporary identity loss. This phenomenon, called deindividuation, is well known to psychologists and has been found to emerge in several areas of interpersonal relations, such as gaming, role-playing and crowd behaviours, particularly hooliganism. Thus even when we are not naturally sadistic, trolling may bring out the worst side in us, by lifting the moral constrains and social etiquette that regulates our behaviour in normal situations, and by fuelling dissent and triggering abrasive reactions.

Third, trolling is a status-enhancing activity: by attracting readers’ attention, upsetting people, sparking heated debates, and even gaining approval from others, trolls can feel important, perhaps much more than they are in their real lives. Thus trolling is yet another internet activity that promotes narcissistic motives, since trolls may be expected to be far less successful in attracting people’s attention in the physical world. The only effective antidote to their tactics is to ignore them, but even then trolls won’t suffer a public humiliation because nobody knows who they are. This is what makes trolling so ubiquitous – it requires no skills other than the ability to be obnoxious.

So, how can trolls be managed? As recent reviews have shown, sites, editors and authors can take concrete measures to minimise trolling. Disabling anonymity, moderating comments and banning offenders, as well as predicting whether an article is likely to promote trolling, are all effective steps. There is often a thin line between wanting to drive traffic and enticing trolling, so content editors and site managers must act responsibly and beware of the consequences of pushing for too much controversy. As for readers, they should try to disengage with trolls and report them. Perhaps the biggest advantage of dealing with the online manifestations of antisocial behaviour is that we can use technology to tackle them. In fact, it is easier to detect, track and manage aggression online than offline.

              Dear Native,

My Eldrers tell me that Elephant House Lingus will be off the menu soon for our Eastern inhabitants.

Your new mate SLMC Hakeem said that no Sinhalese will ever be allowed to become the CM there.

So there is no chance that swine products will ever make a come back , even to our Elite Shopping Outlets, Cargills and Arpico.

He seems to be really cocky now, with Vellala TNA joining him to rule the East and sideline the Sinhalese and our Batti Burghurs..

Batti Tamils I know like their Pork Curry , cooked with good Jaffna Curry Powder and extra Pepper and Goraka.

Vellalas will probably become Halal just to be part of the Eat, which originally was in the Eelaam map and still is in the originals hanging in TNGTE Offices in London and NJ.

Looks like our Tamil brothers in the East will have cross the border and go to Jaffna Hotel to have a Pork Curry hit.

Our Burghur brothers most probably will have to settle in the South as they need their Lingus..

The infamous four should be very thankful that they can have a public meeting like this today without any form of intimidation. The attendees and their politicians don’t have to worry that a white van will pick them up neither should they worry that their businesses will be hurt.

My3 must be careful not to over reach and take any hasty risk by making any one of those who attended and addressed the ‘Boru show’ meeting,to make a martyr of any one in the eyes of the public at large,by initiating proceedings against any one,a relative or spouse of one of them unless vital incontrovertible evidence is available for a honest witness to testify beyond doubt in a court of law.
A person holding a Presidential position, and one who had declared that he will not seek a second term must be careful when he gets his act together, to not evoke doubts in the minds of the public especially when parliamentary elections are due within a period of three months.

        13

Sach, I take your comments on my comments as a compliment, thank you. I too have been reading your comments often voting “ding” or “dong” based on what I think :)

In my opinion MR had enough opportunities, when the wave started by BBS and likes MR/GR/Law instead of acting on them they kind of opted to ignore them as popular uprising which very nearly resulted in another 1983 but in a much larger scale. Post 2009 law and order deteriorated so much. Corruption and nepotism was the norm of the day. I always though MR had the best opportunity to become immortal in the history of Sri Lanka but he has squandered it.

MR has served his purpose he has ended the war which required strong leadership. Since ending the war the path taken by him and his cronies were dragging this country towards political and economical destruction.
8 more years of MARA Regime would have left Sri Lanka in a much worst condition.

Let the new leaders take this country towards next level. At least the vision projected by the current Gov projects inclusive, people friendly governance. Let’s give them bit of time. They are working towards setting the frame work on law/good governance/electoral reforms/freedom of expression… which should have been done after 2009.

What we all want is a country which is prosperous and a country which all of us can call home proudly. It’s not going be achieved overnight but we have to start somewhere, I think that process has started.

          13

You can continue doing ding dong. I thought the same like you and voted Maithree in. But the days UNP is in power they have undermined the national security and our national interests. They are trying to woo the west becoming their poodles. The reality is west know this and get the maximum out of this government. Even during 2001-04 period RW government was notorious on undermining our defence with the policy of bending to all demands by LTTE.

Did the west take RW’s side? No..what did Solheim say? SL gover did not do enough while LTTE did supported ceasefire. That is while LTTE had violated the CF agreement more than 30000 times. The west comes with an agenda. The very same west (norway) are controlling this government. Please go and search the Norwagian hand in BBS.

Out of the election promises how many was done by this gover? But how many did this UNP gov do for the NGOs? I am pretty sure the agents of those who funded LTTE terrorism here having a great time in North now. Is this gover checking on them? I dont think so. The reality is no matter what SL gover does the west will be critical of us and continue doing what they want.

The antics of BBS and economic woos are undestandable. That is why we voted MR out. But we cannot let our national security and national interests to be destroyed by others because of this UNP government’s lethargy on this subject.

And lastly BBS did not appear without a reason. Please engage in some introspection, then you will realise.

          • 2
            14

Sach, I respect your opinion. I do see some valid points in what u have written. We are all entitled our own opinion as long as it is not utter foolish stuff like selected few Tamils demanding self rule in the north and the east.

What I think is if we continued with MR approach of ignoring all what the West throws at us through UNHRC we could have ended in a much difficult situation. Couple that with nations economy being grabbed by selected few and unimaginable corruption where every $ has to be paid back with interest by general public, in another 5 years country would have become bankrupt and under sanctions, MR and clan would jump we will have to bear the consequences.

There is no war now, so RW will have to change his approach. I do agree northern voices are more loud now, but this can be counted with close relationship with India, which has happened already.
What I think is in order to prosper a country like ours we need to take a middle path. We cannot think by isolating ourselves with friends like IRAN/UGANDA and what not we will never be able to achieve our goals.

I also think there were some human rights violation took place during the war from both sides. Implement the LLRC we have forgiven almost all LTTE carders and brought them in to democratic process, so accepting some of the violations can allow chapter to be closed. Does not mean we have punish those violations. I strongly believe mass scale human right violations did not take place and no genocide took place. Like in any war civilians got killed. The fact is it has ended no bombs go off in the country any more. That is victory for the whole nation.

We will get our opportunity change regimes in a democratic process in future if this lot go the wrong way but, I wont agree that we need to bring MR back !

By the way “Javi” is one of the “Dong” voters for both of us. If I am not wrong this will be proven shortly If Javi has not grown up since past 8 months.

I understand your point. Actually that is how majority of intelligentia is thinking. They think by having a pro west government, we will have a pro SL stand in western government. But the reality has been different.

What has mangala achieved in all his foreign trips? Postponing report? what is the use in postponing? The UNP gover and UN have benefits in postponing.

The UNP government shows it as a diplomatic victory. But the reality is once the report is out in march, they will be pushed into taking an action. And that action will definitely make RW lose. That is why they postponed it after the GE. The only thing GOSL should do is reject the report and nothing else. The west cannot do anything further regarding that.

Your point on sanctions is true. BUt i dont think it can happen, if happens lets face it. Our integrity is more valuable than anything.

And UN itself has said they can now have further access to north to create a further devastating report. That is their motive. Now any foreigner can go to north, no Omanthai check point, so who is keeping an eye?

Look at how RW simply released frontline magazines. Can you see the emotional impact of it? Who ordered it?

And what is this urgency in bringing refugees from TN? Do only SLns come? Do you really think india wont be sending RAW agents? Remember the last time what these fellows did?

The hurried signing of a nuclear deal, and even the tax reduction of indian vehicles…bla bla….these things shows only one thing. Before the election i did not mind this talk about american indian hand in RW. But the actions of this government shows it has some actually a lot of merit.

I dont think MR would be same again. I believe the foreign service would not be the same. MR wont and cant play like last time. The executive is Maithree…

Please see what is happening behind. Object 19 Amendment and lets bring MR

        such,

What do you smoke? Can you prove that the Norway funded BBS? How do you explain BBS operated with impunity under MR? It was crystal clear that GR was the driving force behind it. You must be either downright galible or telling lies!

        • 0
          9

There are newspaper reports that BBS went to Norway and US an year before its formation. Even Norway did not reject it, just ignored it. It is unfortunate SLG did not investigate on this and bring it to light.

Both Gota and MR tried to use BBS for their politics. Given the islamophobic wave in the world and propaganda, BBS had a good basis. Gota and MR fell into western trap…

          At Afzal and Burning Issue,

          This is from Asian Tribune,

“Before organizing Bodu Bala Sena, majority of the Buddhist monks in the outfit and Mr. Dilantha Withanage were in Norway.

The trip to Norway was arranged by Mr. Dilantha Withanage and by Mr. Arne Fjortoft of the Worldview International Foundation.

According to Norwegian Ambassador for Sri Lanka Ms. Grete Løchen, “Ven. Galegodatte Gnanasera Thero contacted the Sri Lanka based organization Worldview International Foundation in April 2011 to explore the possibility to meet with representatives of the Tamil Disapora in Norway to look for ways and means to create a common policy to solve political problems regarding the ethnic challenges in Sri Lanka. As a result of extensive planning, it was agreed to arrange a Reconciliation Conference in Norway from 20-26 October, in partnership with NOREF.”

She also added, “The Norwegian support to this project was a one-off payment.”

Therefore, according to Ambassador’s statement the visit to Norway was funded by Norway and the Buddhist monks were in Norway from 20 to 26 October 2011.

Subsequently, the rebel Buddhist outfit was launched on 07 May 2012. That means those Buddhist monks – majority of them including Mr. Dilantha Withanage arranged and launched the Buddhist outfit within a period of six months or little more, after their arrival from their sojourn to Norway.”

          At BI and Afzal,

This is an interview in AT

Given below the text of the interview Asian Tribune had with Mr. Dilantha Withanage, Executive Committee Membe and coordinator of the Bodu Bala Sena:

Asian Tribune: I have some urgent issues to be clarified.

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: Though I am busy, yes, you may speak to me.

Asian Tribune: I need to get some clarification. One is about the Press release I received from your organization on 2nd midnight, Swedish time.

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: But I have already sent you clarifying our position by SMS just now, a couple of minutes ago.

Asian Tribune: I received that e-mail on Bodu Bala Sena stationary (letter head) with its logo on it.

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: Actually we have not sent any press releases to anyone. I learnt that the purported press release also mentioned about the Purdah worn by Muslim women. We never have any issue with the dress code of Muslim women. The other thing was that we never had a meeting on that day (01 April). I have clarified this to local media as well as I have sent you an SMS.

Asian Tribune: Sorry I didn’t receive your SMS. Therefore you may resend it clarifying your position.

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: There are lot of things happening around us and you may be aware of it.

Even last week there was a message sent to one mosque demanding them to vacate from that mosque premises. A friend of mine in a TV channel called and asked me about this. We clarified our position and informed the police also about that incident. I have already informed the police about the press release in question and requested them to investigate who are behind these mischievous activities.

Asian Tribune : I also have sent an e-mail to the Inspector General of Police about the statement I received purported to be from Bodu Bala Sena. I sent him an e-mail asking him to go into it.

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: That’s good. We should identify these culprits and bring them to books.

Asian Tribune: There are some other things I have to ask you. It is about Mr. Arne Fjortoft. Also about the TV debate you had some time ago with Mr. Azath Salley in the Max TV. I think if I remember correctly, he asked you at the course of the discussion, whether Bodu Bala Sena is receiving funding from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Colombo and also about the visit of the Norwegian Ambassador Ms. Grete Løchen along with Mr. Arne Fjortoft to the office of the Bodu Bala Sena, at Sri Sambuddathwa Jayanthi Mandiraya, located at Thunmulla Junction, Colombo and about five of your Buddhist monks visiting Norway.

I was told that during that debate you haven’t responded to those questions.

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: No I have replied to those issues he raised.

Asian Tribune: What did you say? Who are those five Buddhist Monks who visited Norway?

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: I can tell you. I think that was in 2010 … I think.

Asian Tribune: No, I think that was in October 2011.

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: I must check my passport, I can’t remember. May be on October 2011, but not happened in 2012. I know for sure, because after we visited Norway only we launched our Bodu Bala Sena on 07 May 2012.

Asian Tribune : You also went in that delegation to Norway.

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: Yes. I can give the names of those who were in our delegation that visited Norway. They are-

          1. Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero (Presently General Secretary of Bodu Bala Sena)

          2. Ven. Witharandeniye Nanda Thero (He is now the national organizer of Bodu Bala Sena)

          3. Ven. Aluthwewa Ananda Thero

          4. 3. Ven. Dapane Sumanawansa Thero

          5. 4. Ven. Welimada Shantha Thero

          6. Mr. Pujitha Wijesinghe and

          7. Mr. Mark Antony Perera

If you say that Bodu Bala Sena members went in a delegation to visit Norway, then it will be wrong. At that time there was no organization as such. They represented different organizations.

Asian Tribune : So these were the eight people including you who visited Norway in 2011. What were you doing in Norway?

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: In fact we were invited by one of the organization in Norway. In fact I have forgotten the name of the organization. Actually we visited Norway and had discussion with some of the Tamil friends there. I don’t know whether friends we met in Norway represented actually the section of the vociferous Tamil diaspora? Some of them we met, I learnt were supporters of the LTTE. You can say they are just a very small section of the Tamil diaspora. Then we visited some social organizations including a couple of Elders Home and we visited the Norwegian Parliament. We had meeting also with former Minister Erick Solheim. We also had meetings with some Norwegian Parliamentarians. Also we visited houses of some of the Tamil friends.

Asian Tribune: Did Mr. Arne Fjortoft was accompanied you in your visit to Norway?

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: He did not accompany us, but we met him in Norway.

Asian Tribune What was the reason behind your invitation to Norway?

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: To have dialogue between two extreme groups.

Asian Tribune: What do you mean by ‘ two extreme groups’?

Mr. Dilantha Withanage: To have an understanding between us and the Tamil diaspora organizations. For example Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero represented a very strong Sinhala organization.

Earlier we never had any dialogue to understand each other’s problems. They claimed that Government was involved in anti-Tamil program. We had a very critical and fruitful discussion with them. We talked about land issues, high security zones and about various other things.

Tamils please step aside. This is not your fight. By sending anti-West Mahinda home Tamils have made a mistake as seen with the delayal of UN report and decline of support to those poor war victims in the international community. All I am saying is, this time let the Sinhalese decide the reinstatement of MaRa in power, Tamils please step aside. Because last time you did, it did not work in your favour. End of the day MaRa or My3 or Ranil it does not make a difference to Tamils, does it.

    • 7
      2

I am sure the Tamils will take your advise to the letter ! You must be cheaper than VP and the lady from Jaffna !

    • 5
      2

      Ranjan

      You are absolutely right.

Maithripala-Ranil government is not going to do any good to the Tamils but only ruin the support that the Tamils have achieved in the West. That is why Pirabakaran did not trust Ranil. Ranil is a snake under the grass, he will pretend nice and stab in the back.

The Tamils had huge support in the West, in Tamil Nadu and in the UN only because of Mahnida Rajapakshe and his foolish pro-Nationalist anti-Western anti-Minority policy which influenced the Western countries to isolate Sri Lanka and support the Tamils. As long as Mahinda Rajapaksa gets elected again and continues as the Prime Minister, the Western countries who are not happy with him will isolate Sri Lanka which is an advantage for the Tamils to achieve our freedom.

We have already seen during the last few days how things have changed (UN postponing the war crime report in favour Sri Lanka) due to the pro-Western foreign policy of Ranil. If Ranil gets elected and continues to be the Prime Minister, the Tamils may lose the Western support.

Things may change with the foreign policy of Maithiripala-Ranil-Chandrika, the Tamils may lose the Western support. TNA should think wisely and refrain from supporting the wrong candidate. A Maithripala-Ranil government will be a disaster for the Tamils. The Tamils should think, stop supporting this government. Only if Mahinda Rajapaksa rules, the Western countries will think of supporting a Kosovo type referendum for Tamil self-rule. Let’s hope Mahinda Rajapaksa will get elected and come back with the same pro-Nationalist anti-Western anti-Minority policy.

Based on the fact that there was a traffic jam on the Nawala/Nugegoda road, some idiots assumed that it was due to the “BIG Crowd” that came to listen to the four Goons, sorry to burst your bubble dreamers, but there is always a traffic jam on that road, especially in the evenings on weekdays. I was on that road yesterday around 1pm, which was a public and bank holiday and there was heavy traffic, which is also due to the road works just outside the Singer Mega showroom just before the traffic lights. So wake up smell the garbage and go and do some honest work for a change.

Wimal cant afford nor can Gommanpila, after all he collected 100 rupees each and could NOT refund to those who wanted it back… Spineless asses, who cannot get Elected BUT would want to be SELECTED by MR… MR is long gone and obsolete…How hilarious that Namal didnt go to the meeting? Stupid Ranatunga shows up so that his 2 cents would be shown by the media …

All those who were there including DJ are looking for a saree pota to hang on to.. Mahinda’s satakaya is their only hope…

Gommanpila must be arrested ASAP in regard to the plotting of a coup in the wee hours of the 9th Jan .. Vasu is a lost cause ..so is the other LSSP oldie..

    7

Mahinda’s message read out by Dr. DJ is a clear indication that Mahinda will be back and the huge crowd is another clear indication that he has a good chance of winning the premiership on a revised electoral system: An eye opener for Ranil, My3, NimalSS et al.
Most of those who write derogatory comments to various websites are not living in Sri Lanka but pretend to be otherwise. If they really believe Colombo Telegraph’s slogan: ‘Truth is a process’ you need to wake yourself up to realities like this rally.
As per the Police and independent observers, the crowd is approximately half a million and it is one eleventh of Mahinda’s vote bank! I hope this would not be 9/11 for Mahinda’s political opponents!

These are bunch of jokers and loosers, by having a meeting, one wouldn’t be able to bring down a government. These are cheap and silly tactics of MR using his boot lickers to test the water. Today’s news – country’s petrol consumption has doubled since the price reduction, shows how much people feel about the new government. One lady said the new gas price is fantastic, about Rs. 1000/- less. They have all freedom to – which we didn’t have in their time – have one thousand meetings and shout from the roof tops, they wouldn’t be able to bring down this government.

” have one thousand meetings and shout from the roof tops, they wouldn’t be able to bring down this government. “

you are seriously underestimating the psychic of the rice eating two legged buffaloes in SL , just imagine how MR managed to grab 5.8 Million votes after all that day light robberies and cold blooded murders , still there are plenty of buffoons who would go after “Thunmulle Wimale , Gommanpila , Vasidewa and Boru Sinhaya (Dinesh G) ” et al , this is the bitter truth , If MY3 failed to react promptly , it would be an irrecoverable mistake which we all will have to pay.

I would add “Kiri” to it… that can then define his position even better.

Talking about Raviya budget, you think people are not aware that world crude oil prices have tumbled down from $110 to $45 in just three months since MR’s last budget. And you think people do not know that that’s the reason why this regime could reduced gas and petrol prices. Also rubber and tea leaf prices are well below what Raviya budget has guaranteed. These things are being discussed at village kope kadde level.

CT gives a special preference to DJ! Is he so special? I think CT likes to make a mockery of DJ, make him look a loser & aim everyone’s brick bats at this naive pseudo professional who believes that there Iis no intellectual to match him! This is the guy who licked Varatharajah Perumal ‘ s backside the same way he is doing to Jarapassa in spite of the kicks on his arse by MR at different times! What a shameless hypocrit!
He is a shame on his father: he loves a pedestal, probably has no insight to his insanity ! Unfortunately he is unlikely to read these comments to get an insight! I am sure the R&R Co and Sons unlimited are laughing behind his back “What a promiscuous guy who can be exploited to the extreme” wimal W and Goondu-pila also fall into this category of promiscuous group who will suck upto anything that secretes luscious bucks! I suppose Rajiv W Ranil’ nephew once a friend of DJ should cross the line and join him to suck the K & K couple of MR bootlickers! What a pathetic Lanka and so much for So called intellectuals!!! ASCHARYAMATH SUBHA ANAGATHAYAK to those Suckers including Ruwan the MR blogger!

The billions that MARA robbed is at work. I said that this is what the ‘MARA Kalliya’ is capable of and now we see. Well paid attendees with promises of more filthy lucre at the end. That reprobate DJ was also there. Now it is official that DJ is one of the ‘Hora Kalliya’. These absolute thieves, cheats and low class people are reinventing themselves as lovers of democracy.

The shame is Sri Lankans are so easy to be won over with simple stage craft. The danger is these actors are all well seasoned and are past masters at stage craftry. With MARA’s billions they are bound to come back. Time to expedite the judiciary processes to put these thieves behind bars.

Weerawansa is a filty scumbag. Is this what the Sri Lankan people have to put up with? Every single educated person who can, leaves the country because the alternative is to live under louts like him. It’s so frustrating. Only thugs will remain in Sri Lanka. Why do we have to put up with these assholes even now?

Vasudeva is a rat. The most spineless, impotent jackass I have seen.
A man who is a waste of space, no value to his words.

I hope these bastards on stage and the stupid morons cheering in the crowd will be kicked aside by the Sri Lankan society soon. I hope Sri Lanka doesn’t have to descend into anarchy like in the Arab states, in order for us to get rid of these racist, bigoted, so called Buddhist thugs. It is up to the new government to prevent that. Don’t make it necessary for the people to go onto the streets to achieve this. We will not put up with these uncivilised medieval rabble and let them drag the country down further.

Don’t forget that five million RETARDS voted for this villain, Mahinda’s MAFIA and his tyranny. Only if these lunatics who gathered here would realized what their fate would be to assemble for an opposition camp if the country was ruled by Mahinda. The freedom of speech, the right to assemble peacefully and the free will of the press would have all been undermined by government goons, death squads and Police with state sponsorship as admitted by none other than Nimal Siripala himself who spoke at the SLFP party HQ the other day. WE THE PEOPLE should never allow and never forget the Mahinda dictatorship by permitting another catastrophe in our beloved country.
