modaya there is no village like that anymore as we have had `colonial shit buckets` like sihala buddhist – learn to live urban life not like village jackals.

object to ethnic/religion distinctions as they are the evil core of war and war.

Cameron just tried to take away the remaining religious ++ from the upper house but it was a signal that they would be asked to leave soon. the pews are empty while the temples with begging bowls get full because that is where the business is centered not civilian form of governance.

A resounding statement by the majority bhuddists, a big NO to gandasara. Let’s lock up the rabid dogs and move on to a brighter future that we all want under one flag, one mother lanka for all. Let this be a lesson to all future leaders. Buddhists in Sri Lanka want an inclusive country. Long live Sri Lanka and it’s children.

I did not think that the end of Pirabaharan’s dictates would come so soon in May 2009; neither did I think that the end of Rajapakse’s regime would come so soon in January 2015.

Both Velupillai Pirabaharan and Mahinda Rajapakse had the power and opportunities to find a reasonable and acceptable solution to take the country forward by not pitting one community against the other. But both of them abused them. The ardent hope and expectation today is that the new regime will sincerely and genuinely act to put an end to the political extremism based on ethnicity and weaken for ever the extremists from both sides of the ethnic divide and work on national reconciliation, restoration of democratic rights, independence of judiciary, end of human rights violations and usher in true economic prosperity for the country as a whole.

There is no comparison Between Pirapakaran and Sinhalese “so called leaders”
Pirpakaran was the by product of sinhala extremism!!! If sinhalese leaders have not physically and mentally tortured the Tamils for ages, Pirapakarn would not have emerged!!

It looks like the Tamils have voted Maithiri to power. Only Time will tell whether Sinhalese would again cheat the Tamils!!

Prabakaran was a result of Tamil upper class/ upper cast. It was Tamil upper casts(vellalans)who tortured the Tamil lower casts physically and mentally.

      Couldn’t agree you more.

Should not we expect a constructive rather than destabilizing role from Tamil Diaspora, hope penny drops. Even if they kept their mouths shut, it will be a blessing for TNA and those of us who live in SL.

If have more past time and used to picketing, attention seeking, etc. better they should now pick more of a generic issue such as global warming, women rights, poverty, are few to name it so their actions wont create any animosity and help pour fuel into the fire.

Anura it was the sinhala bhudists who nailed the coffin today for gandasara politics. Let’s face it, this proves beyond doubt majority sinhala buddists are still following Lord Buddha’s phylosophy. I advise you to do the same. Bhudusarani!

We lost the greatest patriotic leader our country ever had. True he had the wrong people around him and SLankans were fed up with their corruption, but that is nothing compared to the coming years our brothers and sisters will have to face with the new regime who will be lead by our backboneless Ranil & hora Sirisena. They will either peacefully hand-over the north and the east to our Tamil & Muslim communities or face yet another 30 year war against terrorism. Good luck to those who voted to these puppets..!!!!

It was Tamils and Mulsims that restored democracy and hats off for them.
shame on the rice eating donkeys in down south for ignoring the killing and imprisonment of the General SF and all sort of violence.

The wrong people around him were his own relatives, headed by the chief lunatic Gotabhaya. Their father D A Rajapakse on the other hand was a man of principles and turning in his grave at the wanton crimes his progeny have accomplished.

Too early to predict anything. Hats off and I salute the brave voters for giving a thundering slap to the numerous “Astrologers”, “Kattadiyas” and “soothsayers”. It is also advisable to volunteer to hand over those “lap tops” received from the ex President.

In a broader sense, one policy to reflect on by the incoming President is: “ASEVANACHA BALANAG, PANDITHA NANCHA SEVANA” ( Keep in mind to associate only the people of quality and discard the undesirables). I say this in advance, because this was the main reason for the failure of our ex President. He very unfortunately fell a “PREY” to those “VULTURES” who managed to get into his inner circle. Let us watch on what is going to happen in the coming days, weeks and month.

I wish the newly elected President all the courage to face the situations in the performance of his functions displaying “Leadership Qualities” and adopt a “NO NONSENSE” policy.

All of you raising a toast to Mahinda for conceding should know that he had no choice but to step down voluntarily. The West was keeping a watchful eye so he couldn’t do crap.

Just look at all the disappearance, targeted killings, land theft, corruption, abuse of the supreme court and cronyism he and his family carried out.Why would you now pat him on the back.

We shall see just how much of his ill gotten gains he returns to the people and the accountability he and his cronies face.

I don’t understand why he changed the law to ask for a 3rd term. Why didn’t he just step aside and let Basil or Gota run? Seems a rather stupid decision as it smacks of him being ruler for life.

Another unbelievably stupid decision was to get Salman Khan . The mind just boggles thinking that someone in his circle thought this was a good idea and astonishingly it was implemented.

Finally, it was the Tamils and Muslims that had to come forward to restore democracy in this country.

Its a shame to see how southerners who seems to be like rice eating Donkeys to vote for Rajapaksa with all these hardships.

Mahinda have end a war but there is no peace in the horizon and that is the message given by the minorities.

The man of the match here is Sumanadasa Abeywardana the royal Ass-Tro-Loger – thank you man.. you save us in 2 years of misery.

He conceded before even 50% of the votes were counted. It looks like there is guarantee for his safety, from war crime, is pre-assured before the deal.

So far all what the TNA MPs are saying is that they do not think there will be anything different for Tamils in MY3’s ruling.

Thank God. Tamils did not pay for voting. It looks like that is over.

The Rajapakse knew the defeat before hand. The results were known much earlier before releasing to public. They do several recounts. The first count was over by 2-3 am and Rajapakse knew by then, his time is over

War crimes are not decided by My3 and it will be now easier than before to send MR and GR to the Hague and send to life imprisonment.

      Get a firing squad ready.
Change Rupavahini and get ready for coverage.

Line up a lot of lokka’s family members in Galle Face Green.
Add to that line Mahanaykes and other religious freaks including Hela Urumaya.
Also add arms dealer and casino king business partners of Gotabhaya such as Chief Justice Mohan Peries, Dhammika Perera, Ravi Wijeratna etc.

      Take aim.
      Fire.

      Do real reconciliation.
Punish further perpetrators of heinous crimes.

The voice of the majority across all communities has been heard. At this moment of MR’s defeat, however welcome it may be, it should be remembered that a sizeable number of people voted for him. This is the moment in our history for introspection and wisdom. We have to chart a new course to build a new nation in which every citizen is precious, is respected and is an asset.

I hope the new president and government, will chart the new dawn they promised. We as citizens should not abdicate our responsibility to hold the new government on a tight leash starting from dawn tomorrow. Politicians should be kept in their place. Start cleaning the Augean stables tomorrow. Those in the establishment who have failed the people in must. go, starting with the current Chief Justice and some other judges in the Suprene Court. Change the Secretary to the Treasury and the Governor of the Central Bank. Let the cleaning and culling start at the very top. Let the message percolate down from the very top. Arrest and prosecute the Gnanasara of the BBS for the crimes he has committed against the Muslim community. Permit the Tamils to sing the authorised national anthem in Tamil. Remove the restrictions on travel to the north. Permit the Northern Provincial Council to function like the others, to start with. Reduce fuel prices, electricity charges and the cost of essential food items. Give stern and clear instructions to the Police to act according to the law and not political influence.

    Dear MS, Ranil et al,
Please be humble and serve all citizens of Sri Lanka with intelligence and wisdom.
We expect a lot. Start delivering tomorrow.

    Dear MR,
Please introspect and understand why you went wrong despite the opportunity you were presented in a golden platter. Please understand and teach your sons that magic wands, poojas at Thrupathi , praying to Bo-trees and astrologers cannot help, when you do wrong . You have done much wrong and permitted the clique around you to do much wrong as well. You will be remembered in our history for your failures more than your successes. Do not take the people for granted again and take them for a ride. Good luck in your retirement.

MS will give oath before a senior Supreme court judge not CJ [This was reported some other news bulletin] MS needs to manage all those supported him effectively and with professionalism. Else the hard earned victory would be of no use.
Majority and the minorities together with progressive fronts brought MS to this stage [by analyzing the available data] and this is a good stage to take the country forward progressively. MR/GR managed/directed sena’s should be investigated immediately and brought to justice with all other matters that have hindered the country’s progress. The political clowns would argue that all the extremists from North and East are with MS. The very same were with MR for all these years. They are part of the Sri Lankan society and alienating them would bring disaster to the country. Its time to see a brighter future for our children from south to north and east to west. Let all the children of Sri Lanka live peacefully and let them develop this beautiful country for future. A sincere wish from down under.

President Rajapakse, in his retirement, should spend some time mulling over the cause of his defeat.
Although he professed to be a Buddhist, he didn’t understand the Four Noble Truths.

He thought he could disregard the simple truth of ti-lakkhana: that of dukkha, anatta, and anicca. His undoing was his failure to comprehend that he, like everyone else, did not have a self/ soul and the ability to resist inconstancy/flux of every conditioned phenomenon.

Thus, boosted by the flattery of the sycophants whom he recruited as advisers, he elevated his ego to the very zenith and began to think of himself as another Kim Il-sung whose who could spread his juche (Mahinda Chintanaya) throughout the nation,

The incoming Sirisena Administration must forgive the basic structural violence that the Rajapakses have inflicted on our small nation. and take steps not to succumb to nepotism and corruption. Now that he has the legitimacy of an elected executive president, he must resist bending over backwards to please the whims and fancies of revengeful and corrupt politicians from Horagolla or the right-wing Westernized elite who in cahooots with the Norwegians tried to write off part of this country to create an Eelam.

I am suggesting that president-elect Sirisena should become the first executive head of government who would implement true Buddhist values spelled out in the Noble Eightfold Path in carrying through every action he takes. If he uses the magga as his guide, he will rarely go wrong.

As one of his first actions, he should clean up Lake House of the rats who have infested its editorial portals. Convert it to the world’s first non-profit journalism institution, where citizen journalists can practice mindful journalism-the Buddhist approach.

He tried to ask the Security council and Cabinet if he could stay longer and the military and cabinet said no. He had no choice. Yes Astrologers and soothsayers, and kattandiyas, magic gold amulets or tridents cannot work when people vote. The Astrologer should be declared man of the match for his buffoonery and giving the good time for the masses as the good time for MR when it was “bad time” for MR and his sons. These sons use their position and force themselves on Armed forces rugby teams. His cronies and pimps , his moronic brother in law who is plundering Sri Lankan airlines and the racing cars kept hidden for ChiChi to drive and run into water and ruin the engines etc should all be made MVPs of the losing team.

The defeat of the incumbent was a self inflicted one, the voters who voted him out did what they ought to have done and the incumbent vacated from his official residence without a demur when the red flag was shown to ended his tenure.
Credit must be given for his decision to move out of the official residence without a fuss.
Let him go and face the consequences for his own enormous mistakes and short sightedness in permitting those around him to make hay at his expense.
Let us see how the My3 wagon rolls on from now.

what about nation’s pundit Dr. Dayan/Silva/Rajapakshe and his political analyses ?

Even if these results show that some people long for a change, a large majority folks have not realized it but voted for MR further ? Why ? Are those people of this nation still hallozinated by war victory ?

That guy went for a NO-Limit store to get some really tight underwear as scared to death of removing his pants for the 2nd time by the masses.

Poor guy even MR mentioned him to the world in an Al-Jazeera internview as a NGO activist this man did not have any b***s to go against the president and always dreamt about another posting.

He can start some vulgar articles again for the next 6 years as RW will not get this waste near to him.

Good thing is DJ’s selfish agendas but getting posted to a new destination as dreamt all the last few weeks – shatters… this man should be not worth enough to hold his so called leture seat at the university. In retrospect, I feel how stupid he has been. At least in the eleventh hour, Rajeeva did a good job by opening up himself to local and international media.

I wonder DJ would come forward to utter a single word interms of grand victory of MS.

As a Chinese, I am so pissed off with the election results in See Lanaka people.
See Lanka people have not help our friend Mister Mahin-dar who is a good man and always like to get commissions from chinese mega projects and we started with 10% in 2005 and the latest is we give jjackup the estimates by 20X of the cost and then give him all that excess and I tell you all see Lanka people that he never say no to our commissions and a very good man for Chinese people.

Even Mister Mahin-da chose the day #8 according to the chinese numerology as the lucky day for his re-election and we are very sorry that we could not send our Fung Shui masters from Beijing to help Mahin-da as he wanted to follow his See Lanka masters and those masters have screwed up big time.

Hope. new man Mister Sira-Sena will also give us mega projects and not sure how much is his commission though we can start at 10% too. The next thing we going to do is to make a development project for a new port in Polonnaluwa and also connect that big tank in Pollonnaluwa into the sea with a canal and that will save so much money in log term as inland transport can be done through this canal.

Also we would like to have a Port city in Pollonaluwa with F1 track and a red light and Casino strip.

At last MR has done the sensible and honourable thing to do.(Actually he had to leave) This does not mean he can redeem himself from all the wrong doings he did during the time he was in power. He did a great mistake by surrounding himself with thugs, corrupt politicians, people who were after top government posts etc etc. His three idiot sons, arrogant brothers and other members of his clan acted senselessly abusing this power. This almost makes me believe in karma. Anyway let’s rejoice in the fact our motherland Sri Lanka is not an unfortunate country which would have perished beyond repair under his rule. Let 2015 be the year of starting all over again.

“This almost makes me believe in karma.”

what a piece of rubbish when it was the inevitable from several angles.

`In every hierarchy there is a level of incompetency`- Peter Principal- `what has to happen happens not karma.` the boss is always right` so don’t sit in front if you ever want to be your own master.

Churchill was never a man of peace and of-course he could not loudly surround himself when there is a Magna Carta.

Dictators as rule in general are spawned from villages which are the satellites of cities- Franco, Hitler, Mao Lenin Bush Idi Amin, Nasser.

Colombo was never the same after 83- we jumped over hedges and went home when the street lights came on we new life from experience but egoist from Oxbridge imported the defranchising of a million then went for bigger bargains beating minorities- colonial shit buckets.

We come from a hole and run back into a hole just like the fox- werewolf concept comes to my mind instantaneously as in the mahanama mahawamsa. If only you knew the culture and art of the whole of south india east to west from 500 AD (CE) you would appreciate what is Sanskrit Pali and who you are – tree worshipers.

The Clan ( the family the Cosa-Nostra is OUT!!!)

Let Mitri deliver his obligation to the Tamils( they did not ask for a separate state, help them to build their schools, houses, employment for the Youth, equal opportunities in every sphere as is available in the South to North and East.

Our best brains employed /Domiciled in Singapore should be invited back in earnest. anybody who Sing for their supper in the West is also welcome and it is about time they repay the cost of Educating them by the Sri Lanka Stat.

I salute you Mr Rajapakse once again as a great Sri Lankan leader who brought peace and normalcy to the country by getting rid of the LTTE menace. Had you reigned over the people around you, you would have continued for more years as the President of Sri Lanka. By the exemplary manner in which you conceded defeat and left office you have demonstrated that you are a great democrat too. You will now be realizing that you can buy over MPs but not their loyalty at the crunch time. They deserted you like rats after having made the riches because of the Ministerial positions you offered to them. I do understand how difficult it would be for you to stomach the treachery of the Judas from within your own party and from the religious parties that joined you for Ministerial positions. May God bless you.

He had no intention of conceding , he only stepped down because the US told him to and India wouldn’t hold his hand this time.

Mahinda filled the government with family and relatives and made the country a Rajapaksa fiefdom. So don’t give him credit for a matter he had no choice in.
