Mahinda Rajapaksa Who Stole 83 Million Rupees Of Tsunami Funds Is A Callous Thief: Mangala

“Then why is it today that many of the victims of that tragic day ten years ago are still without adequate shelter or livelihood? Why is it that many still suffer despite Sri Lankan and international generosity? One of the main reasons is that a man who is contesting to be President of this country does not care for peoples’ suffering. He has consistently put his own private gain above the people’s pain. I am very sad to say, that this politician is a callous thief. He stole 83 million rupees of Tsunami relief funds and used them for his personal gain.” says the former foreign minister Mangala Samaraweera.

Mangala Samaraweera MP

Issuing a statement Samaraweera said; “The former Chief Justice has publicly apologized saying that the Helping Hambantota judgement, which he presided over and which protected that thief from conviction and ultimately jail, was the biggest mistake in his entire life. What right does this man have to speak of the people’s development and the country’s development? His achievements and energy over the last nine years have been spent only on own his family’s development and enrichment.”

We publish below the statement in full;

On this day ten years ago the Tsunami struck. Almost 40,000 were killed in the matter of a few minutes. Tens of thousands lost their children, parents or loved ones. The entire country was in shock and anguish. It was a day that none who were present will forget.

All the people of this country made great sacrifices and took greater risks to help their fellow citizens in this time of sorrow and desperate need. People who were hungry themselves donated food, soldiers took part in the rescue effort and lost comrades in the process, and many volunteers worked tirelessly for weeks and months. President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga provided immediate relief, and without fail all political parties and civil society organizations contributed to these efforts. The entire world’s sympathy was focused on the Tsunami victims. Ordinary citizens across the world stood in solidarity with us, and on then President Chandrika Kumaratunga’s request gave generously of their resources and time.

Then why is it today that many of the victims of that tragic day ten years ago are still without adequate shelter or livelihood? Why is it that many still suffer despite Sri Lankan and international generosity? One of the main reasons is that a man who is contesting to be President of this country does not care for peoples’ suffering. He has consistently put his own private gain above the people’s pain. I am very sad to say, that this politician is a callous thief. He stole 83 million rupees of Tsunami relief funds and used them for his personal gain.

The former Chief Justice has publicly apologized saying that the Helping Hambantota judgement, which he presided over and which protected that thief from conviction and ultimately jail, was the biggest mistake in his entire life. What right does this man have to speak of the people’s development and the country’s development? His achievements and energy over the last nine years have been spent only on own his family’s development and enrichment.

He may have evaded justice in the courts through his trickery and lies, but he cannot and will not escape the people’s justice on the 8th of January. The people will choose virtue and compassion over thievery of the vulnerable and enrichment of a single family. My thoughts today are with the victims of the Tsunami who in the last 10 years have been prevented from fully recovering and I sincerely hope for a better future.

Not only the tsunami funds, but when you look at the luxury cars worth millions and millions, the lifestyle only millionaires abroad enjoy, the trips, designer duds, the pedigreed dogs flown down in special flights for a former gas station attendant, and what-not, it is clear, the Sri Lankan people have been fleeced.

Look at what they had before, and now. There lies the answer.

The 2004 tsunami was God’s retribution against local and foreign paedophiles who were exploting youg males in our country.

That is why Hikkaduwa was one of the worst affected.

The 8 January 2015 political tsunami will clean up the paedophiles who escaped 2004 to mouth off abuses at decent people.

      Beware the wrath.

So the God sent fire and forget tsunami targeting only the pedophiles killed 35,322, 6,700 were missing, 21,411 injured and displaced 516,150 in the land of thrice blessed.

There must have been nearly 600,000 pedos at the time of tsunami hitting the shores of this island which included babies, children old folks, a train, several houses and trees, …..

Do you consider trains and trees to be pedophiles?

God’s acts seem random than precision targeting. Where is this god operating from, he needs some target practice.

Perhaps he/she was trained by the Sri Lankan armed forces for collateral damages were too high even for a god.

            “Your questions arise from ignorance.”

Is that so? I didn’t know I was ignorant until you mentioned. Thanks a lot.

“They spread the false value system of bogus democracy and corruption spray.”

Okay democracy has its pitfalls, are you suggesting we must accept Kingdom of god, Ram Raj, Caliphate, Sinhala/Buddhist kingdom?

Alternatively do you want us to be ruled by MR, VP, Idi Amin, Mussolini, Pol Pot, Hitler, Mao, …… Ivan the Terrible, …… without the right to kick those dictators out of office out of power?

It is also a good idea however I am willing to meet you here in hell when you visit this island next time around.

I agree the scum who prey on our young children are scum, and there should be some oversight by our government, to prevent such crime. Maybe they are too greedy for foreign money, that they overlook this disgraceful trade going on in our country, and that we are now notorious for. However I disagree that the tsunami is the work of any God. This is nature at it’s worst, and if there is some merciful Deity, I doubt innocent people will die for what others do.

      Mangala Samaraweera MP,

Medamulana MaRa , His Cronies and Shills are thieves and robbers.

      In addition, they are criminals.

Not educating the masses about these criminals will result in the ignorant masses being duped, and these criminals being re-elected.

That is why, the exposure like what you are doing, leaflets and others information such as the COMMON SENSE PAMPHLET, SRI LANKA 2014 should be written, printed and widely distributed, and expose the MaRas.

      Common Sense (pamphlet)

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Sense_%28pamphlet%29

Common Sense[1] is a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine in 1775–76 that inspired people in the Thirteen Colonies to declare and fight for independence from Great Britain in the summer of 1776. In clear, simple language it explained the advantages of and the need for immediate independence. It was published anonymously on January 10, 1776, at the beginning of the American Revolution and became an immediate sensation. It was sold and distributed widely and read aloud at taverns and meeting places. Washington had it read to all his troops, which at the time had surrounded the British army in Boston. In proportion to the population of the colonies at that time (2.5 million), it had the largest sale and circulation of any book published in American history.[2]

Common Sense presented the American colonists with an argument for freedom from British rule at a time when the question of whether or not to seek independence was the central issue of the day. Paine wrote and reasoned in a style that common people understood. Forgoing the philosophical and Latin references used by Enlightenment era writers, he structured Common Sense as if it were a sermon, and relied on Biblical references to make his case to the people.[3] He connected independence with common dissenting Protestant beliefs as a means to present a distinctly American political identity.[4] Historian Gordon S. Wood described Common Sense as “the most incendiary and popular pamphlet of the entire revolutionary era”.[5]

Rs 83 million is just a drop in the ocean.

Has he accounted for the loot of LTTE funds and jewellery at the final stage of the war. The jewellery that he distributed so randomly recently is just a little portion of the big loot.

Fraud in the road building programme, hole in the Central bank reserves, drawing above the limits of the presidential funds, bribery from mega deals including giving lands without proper scrutiny etc., are just a few of them.

His mankolle (robbing) network is so intricate that it will channel through putha Namanl, brother Basil and reach the Hong Kong and Shangai Bank non resident account operational in China.

I guess Mahinda & fimily & brothers are planning to claim political asylum in North Korea after 8/1/2015.

Mangala is a street smart politician.
He was an SLPF et, f high rank & standing.
MR, made full use of him to win his 1st Presidential Election, then got deviated by the hoardes of his immediate family.
He took in Rohita Bogollagama from the the UNP, made him Foriegn Minister, which was a disaster, as he was only interested in making money .
Mangala , did what ever he did with aplomb.
Unlike the Bogollagama s or the Mahinda Samarasinghe.
Where are they now, in a ditch, if they had any principles they would still be around.
Not too late , CROSS, tho you lol will NEVER have any more credibility.

The SL President is the current Commonwealth Chair-in-Office, consequent to having hosted the last CHOGM in Colombo in 2013. (He hosted this event, spending millions of tax payers’ money, just for self aggrandizement and international recognition as he did in attempting to host the Commonwealth Games. Thankfully that bid was lost although millions of tax payers’ money was squandered in presenting the bid). Therefore he has the sacred duty of upholding the ‘Values’ of the Commonwealth and set an example to the rest. We all know he pays only lip service to upholding those values. I suggest, ALL peace loving people of SL, who wish to see true Democracy return to our beloved motherland, bring these corrupt practices to the attention of the Commonwealth Secretary General, Kamalesh Sharma. Please take the initiative and send him an email explaining what you see is happening in SL and asking him, respectfully, what action he plans to take as the Commonwealth Secretary General to prevent Commonwealth values being eroded in SL. Let this be a MASS appeal to him so he will be compelled to respond/act. You may also want to copy that email to the PM of UK, PM of Canada, PM of Australia, FM of UK, FM of Canada & FM of Australia, the significant Democracies within the Commonwealth. For your convenience, I give below the relevant email addresses:

    Kamalesh Sharma – info@commonwealth.int
    PM of UK – info@davidcameron.com or camerond@parliament.uk
    PM of Canada – harpers@parl.gc.ca
    PM of Australia – Tony.Abbott.MP@aph.gov.au
    FM of UK – hammondp@parliament.uk
    FM of Canada – bairdj@parl.gc.ca
    FM of Australia – Julie.Bishop.MP@aph.gov.au

Please inform ALL your friends, relatives, contacts, colleagues and make this a MASS appeal which will count and have some effect.

Let us ALL with our combined efforts ensure a semblance of Democracy, fairness and justice returns to Sri Lanka.

      Excellent one Lalith ,

As law abiding citizens we should try all the available avenues to halt the impending chaos/mayhem on and after 08 th January 2015 , these emails must be in tens of thousands in order to have a real impact , that clown Sharma is duty bound to uphold commonwealth values hence he must avert the impending volcano before it gets out of reach , Sharma can’t wash his hands by claiming it’s an internal matter , you are single handedly responsible for MR’s chairperson position and now you must deal with it !

PS: CT Editors why don’t you initiate the process so that we all can join in ! please do something Uvindu , we are counting on you !

Lalith, With all due respect to your idea of circulating mail among the Heads of State of CW, Kamlesh Sharma is a useless A……e and a lipstick of MARA.

How on earth will he otherwise canvass so vigorously for the hosting of the conference under MARA’s chairmanship. He would have been paid lavishly by the MARA regime and he is the guy who swept the International BAR findings under the carpet with regard to the unlawful impeachment of our Chief Justice by our KEKILLE KING MARA.

Let us be conscious of whom we approach for justice from the clutches of LAWLESS MARA REGIME.

Taylor boy should worry about how much our inhabitants have to cough up in extra taxes, if My Threes pull it off.

CBK hasn’t had a decent pay cheque for nearly 10 years.

Fonny is still drawing on USDs which are left overs from his last go..

Ranil is Okay because he gets the full Parliamentary package.

So is Ravi with his additional income from interest on TRO money which he is minding on behalf of Galleon Raja and the the Diaspora.

UNP financiers and supporters on the other hand haven’t seen a commission cheque for two decades now.

Just imagine how hungry and thirsty they must be..

Perhaps they can eat that proverbial horse even without BBQ it?.

Unless Abiththaya Champika has converted them all in to JHU Chapter where they totally depend only on Alms, offered by our Sinhal a Buddhist inhabitants.

As for the Taylor boy, funds don’t seem to be a problem , considering his private assets in Overseas Media interests, which cater mainly to his UNP and Diaspora supporters…

Managala Samaraweera (MS) reveals the following as quoted verbatim in the text.

“One of the main reasons is that a man who is contesting to be President of this country does not care for peoples’ suffering. He has consistently put his own private gain above the people’s pain. I am very sad to say, that this politician is a callous thief. He stole 83 million rupees of Tsunami relief funds and used them for his personal gain.”

I am perplexed by this revelation. If he knew of the misdeeds of MR on Tsunami funds, why did he join the bandwagon to support Mahinda’s election in 2005? Why did not he speak out then? One is likely to understand or misunderstand that some millions were up for grabs and while Mahinda was able to grab 83 million, Mangala could not pitch as much as Mahinda did and therefore Mangala is now making a noise when the time is ripe.

Mangala does not know. It is a lot more than Rs. 83 mn. When the tsunami struck on Dec, 26, an INGO had US $ 2 mn in unspent funds. On the orders of the head office that INGO gave it to Rajapakse at Inner Flower Road (Chandrika was away). That money went into Hambantota funds.

When newspapers started making allegations, that INGO issued a statement that the money was indeed for Hmabantotota. How could they operate in Sri Lanka after accusing Rakapaksa who was by then President?

It is asserted that Mangala does not know. Then why does he say that now. Abe has confirmed my suspicion that Money available for grabs is more than Rs 83 Million. (Because of the hurry, the usual accounting practices were not followed and these moneys were liable to thieving.) I am convinced that even other politicians too had their share and keep mum although helping hambantota only came to light. There were many funds, helping matara, helping galle, in other names. Therefore I maintain that an understanding or misunderstanding can arise that Mangala could not pitch as much as Mahinda did and therefore Mangala is now making a noise when the time is ripe.

Mr.Mahinda Rajapaksa stole 83 millions. So what? He is the sole dictator of the country. He is the only one man in Srilanka can control that every cent that comes into the country and every cent that goes out of the country.

I do not understand as to why all these people are shouting and crying against MR. Nobody can do anything. Its a waste of time.

Will the majority voters in the country realise whats going on in SriLanka. How does Hon.Mahinda Rajapaksa rule the country and how he manages to do wrong things?

It is not the fault of Hon.Mahinda Rajapaksa. Whatever said and done, everybody should understand and agree that Hon.MR has a very good Leadership and some positive charisma.

May I please request all the people who wrote comments to first of all analyse the strengths and weaknesses of Hon.MR’s Leadership and Charima. It is nor Hon.MR’s faults of whats going on now.

It is the BIG FAULT of the majority Citizens of this counry. There is no use of passing the bug to others.

What is the punishment that people can give to the judge who knowingly gave a wrong judgement and allow this thief to rob the country. He also is responsible for the misuse of funds and suffering of the victims. This former CJ was in the MR’s pocket and also was benefitted. What’s the point of apologising after making such a grave mistake.

Mangala was MR’s biggest cheer leader in 2005 and did not seem to care about “Helping Hambantota”. i think Mangala felt slighted that he was out muscled and out maneuvered by the Rajapakse clan after MR won. Mangala was part of CBK’s closest of close Kitchen cabinet. I think he felt he was not held in the same confidence by MR who brought his US citizen brothers and all his kith and kin to create A massive Family Forest. I think that is why even recently Mangala toyed with coming back to become FM again. If MR agreed to the conditions laid out by MR including FM post Mangala would be crowing for MR again. Such are our politicians of all hues.

Not only the people who robbed the Country but also those such as Mangala who supported them to come to power as campaign managers knowing these facts are equally responsible. They think Sri Lankans are idiots.
Maitreepala Sirisena should be aware of these con artists.

I am not sure but in mitigation, I can say that Tsunami embezzlement scandal only came to the public knowledge after Lasantha Wiukramatunga endeavoured to expose MR. This happened after Mangala had left the government. Please someone correct me if I got this wrong.

Embezzlement of Tsunami funds was well known BEFORE even MR contested. MR was almost arrested and previous CJ Sarath Silva has already apologized from the nation for releasing MR. Mangala was a powerful Minister in that Government and there is no reason for him not to be aware of these facts.
