Mahinda Rajapaksa Will Be Defeated Again: President Maithripala Sirisena

Mahinda Rajapaksa who was defeated on January 8th will be defeated again, President Maithripala Sirisena said today. “I continue to stand against Mahinda Rajapaksa” he further said.

MaithripalaI will continue to give leadership to the change the ushered in on January 8 with the newly elected members after the next General election, President Maithripala Sirisena said.

He said he will form a government with the victorious political parties after August 17 election and he has no intention of appointing Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister.

Speaking to media on the current political developments at the Presidential Secretariat today (July 14) the President said that if the SLFP win the election there are several senior politicians in the party to be the Prime Minister. Former President Rajapaksa who did not allow the deserving seniority get their due post is now trying again to deny party seniors premiership by attempting to be PM even after completing two terms of presidency.

President Sirisena said that his first intention was to dissolve the parliament on January 10 immediately after resuming as President on January 9. However he could not do so as he had to fulfill the task given under the 100 day programme. As promised I made Ranil Wickremesinghe as PM though the UNP had only 47 members in Parliament and succeeded in implementing the 100 day program that included the 19th amendment to curtain excessive powers of Executive Presidency, he said.

The President said that when the vast majority of UPFA members demanded that Mahinda Rajapaksa should be given nomination and make him the Prime Ministerial candidature, he pointedly refused these demands. However, when he had to dissolve the parliament to prevent Mahinda Rajapaksa from becoming Prime Minister by defeating Ranil Wickemesaighe in a no confident motion and enter parliament as a National list member, but he prevented these designs by dissolving the parliament. Once the nomination and election days were announced, the UPFA members demanded that Mahinda Rajapaksa should be given nominations. “Then I was left with two options. One is to resign from the party leadership. But if I had done that Mahinda Rajapaksa would have become the party President and appointed only his people as candidates for the election leaving out all those who supported the common candidate at the presidential election. To prevent that I decided to remain the party leadership but allow them to nominate him as a candidate, though I am still opposed to this. This led to political analysts and the media vehemently attacking me as a villent and a betrayer. I take all these criticisms in my style, as this reflects the blooming of democracy and media freedom which was lacking prior to January 8. But you will realize in the near future that my actions due to my belief that there should be a bicameral party system for the survival of democracy in a country and I always wanted to prevent annihilation of a political party after an electoral debacle, as it happened in 1970, 1977 and again in 2010” the President said.

President Sirisena said that despite many obstacles the government which was formed on January 8 would provide benefits to people, salary increase to public servants, reduction of fuel and gas prices and take effective steps to reduce powers of the president and transfer them to the constitution council and other institutions.

The President said that his role in the general election is to ensure, free, democratic and impartial election is held and to extend his fullest support to the election commissioner, police and the officials for that purpose. “I will remain impartial in the coming election and urge the people to select those who are suitable to march forward with the January 08 mandate” said the President. After the election results are declared for the next five years I will take forward the transformation that began on January 8 and continue in the same past for the next five years, and I am certain that the people will judge me by the end of that period. President Sirisena appealed to the media not to misuse the media freedom and enjoy the blooming of democratic rights and media freedom in the country objective.

    Mr. Maitripala Sirisena,

RE: Mahinda Rajapaksa Will Be Defeated Again: President Maithripala Sirisena

“Mahinda Rajapaksa who was defeated on January 8th will be defeated again, President Maithripala Sirisena said today. “I continue to stand against Mahinda Rajapaksa” he further said.”

This is Refreshing, very refreshing to hear. Yes, please Expose MaRa and his cronies.

Would you please apologize to the 6,200,000 voters and say that UPFA and SLFP is full of corrupt Crooks, Thieves, Criminals , Rapists and Drug Dealers, and this was the best way to expose these characters and get rid of them.

If So, Amarasiri Acropolises for the very critical comments about your giving nominations to Mahinda Rajapaksa and his cronies who are Crooks, Thieves, Criminals , Rapists and Drug Dealers.

In the End it is the compete defeat of Mahinda Rajapaksa and his cronies that matters.

One needs to See Buddha and MaRa to see how bad MaRa, MaRa is.

Mahinda Rajapaksa, MaRa, is the Modern incarnation of Mara. Sri Lanka needs to end the Suffering Under MaRa.

Mr. Maitripala Sirisena, Would you campaingn against MaRa or Stay “Neutral”?

Enlightened Buddha – The Great Battle (The Life of Buddha)

    Published on Oct 5, 2013

The calm and compassionate face of the Buddha is known all over the world. Buddha was a spiritual teacher of ancient India whose ideas on freeing mankind from sorrow and suffering form the basis of Buddhism. Buddha was born in the sixth century BC., into a royal family. Known as Siddhartha, he realized that human life was short and full of sadness. He found out a path to Enlightenment and spiritual fulfillment. He was then known as the Buddha, which means “Enlightened One”. For the rest of his life, the Buddha travelled great distances teaching people about the “MIDDLE PATH”, the way to end to suffering. He taught the four Noble Truths of suffering, cause of suffering, end of suffering, and the Path to do that. Buddhism offers hope and access to spiritual understanding and satisfaction to everybody. Throughout the world today, people still follow the teaching of the Buddha.

Mara, the temptor, distrubs Siddhartha’s meditation in many ways but is defeated. Enlightenment dawns and Siddhartha becomes the BUDDHA and teaches everyone the way to end all suffering.

Sirisena is confused! He should have blocked nominations for Mahinda Rajapaksa as party leaders of SLFP. If Jarapassa secures a victory how will Sisisena stop him becoming Prime Minister, if he could not even stop MR’s nomination through the SLFP?!

Mahinda Jarapassa should be stripped of all former presidential privileges and tried in open court for all his corruption and the Jarapassa family’s ill gotten wealth now that he is contesting again..

Sirisena is learning on the job it seems – how to be a good president in the Miracle of Modaya aka. Sri Lanka because there have been NO good presidents in the country.. JRJ, CBK and Mahinda Jarapassa have perpetuated the rot in Political culture and nearly destroyed the social fabric of Sri Lanka.

Basically, Sirisena is a product of extremely corrupt political culture in Sri lanka, and a product of Moda Sinhala nationalism. He cannot fully break with his own past history and the corrupt political culture that has made him an accidental president of sorts! Sirisena is also a good and Genuine Buddhist and a Simple man.

If at all Sirisena is following the United States Presidential model of bi-partisan and non-partisan cooperation with the two main political parties, but this will not work with a character like Mahinda Jarapassa..

Sirisena is also not at home with the Colombo 7 and 3 politicos of the Ranil and CBK political elites who are also corrupt but in a more classy way, either. Sirisena is also different from the Jarapassas, though both have rural backgrounds. Sirisena is not sold on western consumerism and the name brand life style that the uncouth Jarapassa family loves. Jarapassas have some of whom know the meaning of racism from living in the US have a “love hate” relationship with western culture and civilization. The Jarapassa family wants desperately to belong to ‘high society’ in Sri Lanka and the global 1 percent or global elite. Sirisena is not keen on high society because perhaps the gap is too big but mainly because he is a simple man. But at the end of the day,
Today in Sri Lanka, the majority of both the village (gama) politicians and the city (colombo society) politicians are corrupt – morally, intellectually and literally. In the context, One can but hope that if the SLFP wins Mahinda Jarapassa (who is asking fro more security because the more corrupt you are the more military security you want), will not be given the Prime Minister post by Prez. Sirisena.
Long live democracy in the miracle of modayas!

        Don,

We should understand the plight of Sirisena in a democracy. He became the President of the SLFP by virtue of the fact that he was President of the country and he became President of the UPFA by virtue of the fact he was the President of its major component, the SLFP. Otherwise, he never had the majority support of the SLFP or the UPFA. Being a democrat, how can he impose his will against the majority of either organisation?
Just because Mahinda and his cronies are bad, we cannot say that the entire SLFP is bad. If we say so, it would only lead to a single party dictatorship which no true democrat will want.

The process of elimination of the rotten eggs may sometimes have to be done only in stages. I believe that is what Sirisena is exactly trying to do.
He has done his best so far!
Let the people decide whom they want to to rule. That is democracy.

          Sengodan,

True. Most of us, including the embattled President Sirisena are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I still have faith in President Sirisena. I believe his experience will help us bury corrupt Rajapassa & Co eventually. If we get it right. Hopefully.

However, President Sirisena should act with more resolve and must be seen to be acting with more resolve. He must let the people and the defeated dictator know, in no uncertain terms, who is President.

Some of these people from the defeated King’s entourage are like wild animals. In word and deed. Soft power does not drive the point home with them.

Both President and PM for reasons only known to them have dragged their feet. In going after serious criminals associated with Rajapassa clan. Good Governance crew has not reflected the urgency felt by the nation. Very unfortunate. Especially when dealing with street smart criminals in Rajapassa entourage. One must not give them a breathing space.

          Cheers!

Yahapalanya at its best , a citizen challenges the cop !

Just watch this video , don’t we motorists go through the same nightmare every day , first thing the police officer does is confiscate our license before anything else , then we will have to beg for his mercy , it looks this woman has some connections otherwise she wouldn’t have argued like that , any way hats off for the brave woman ( i just wished she didn’t Grab the police cop’s helmet )

                Srinath Gunratne ,

In order to understand what i said , one needs to have some grey matter , obviously you are lack of it ;hence started looking at the whole drama from your own point of view , what i said was , why do the police cops confiscate our licenses when ever we get pulled over ? once we hand over our licenses to the cop , we will be at his mercy , why can’t the cop issue a ticket (fine) than confiscating our license ? say ,if one drives from Mataara to Jaffna and get caught for violating road rules in Jaffna ,then he/she will have to make a special journey to Jaffna again to collect his/her license from the Jaffna Police. this is absurd , don’t we live in 21 st century , when all most every thing is done on line , why would one has to go through such idiotic/outdated /time consuming/ expensive red tapes ?

PS: I knew the woman would be in trouble for taking her license back by force and then taking cop’s helmet , beside those two appalling actions she was right in challenging those cops , after all it’s their word against her , how can they prove , that she was breast feeding the baby ? i have my suspicion about cops behaviour , had that woman been driving an Alto car , cops reactions would have been total different. SL cops need to understand , they are not the law , but mere law enforcement agents.when Mafia king was running the show , cops thought as if they were above the law , now with the Yahapalanaya , we citizens should be able to challenge the dirty cops.

I think MY3 has all mahathma gathiguna. He is a true politician. Now his voice on, he expressed the inside story. None of his words can be a lie as had been those of Meeharaka Rajapakshe. This kind of gentle sort of person,we dont have in lanken politics today. It is right him to stay neutral though the buggers keep harrasing him to join them for their POLITICAL stages. However, Wimal Buruwanse would not be able to behave the way he behaved for the Prez election this time. He attacked current president mimiking his voice – they the MR admistration brought double to deceive people. What did not they do ?

of course Akila can be forgiven , but he mustn’t leave any room for Mafia king to take upper hand in Kurunegala district , remember during the presidential election , how Mafia king’s clan took CBK’s ” Mr Prabakaran ” phrase to undermine the campaign . luckily either no body has noticed or know about the history in Mafia’s clan this time , otherwise they would have ridiculed our young education minister for being naive.

Yes @srilal, world war 1 and battle of waterloo, mincing words won’t bring any new votes or lose them as I think voters are determined there will be a clear verdict with swinging votes going to JVP which is not a B team of Mahinda, either!

Once defeated MR will be defeated by the people in the upcoming election – says Prez MY3 Sirisena.

To predict this you dont need to hire Astrologers- says President further, it just need to look back the history.

This was added by Prez in a special briefing at the presidential secreatariat.

  • 35
    5

Finally after much dithering Prez. Sirisena has taken a stand and is doing the right thing. Of course, he should have refused nomination to Mahinda Jarapassa, Prasanna Ranatunge and the other corrupt thugs in the UPFA at the outset, because of exceptional charges of corruption, and because he came to power on an anti-corruption platform.

But it seems that Sirisena is giving MR the long rope and MR will hang himself – which is perhaps the best way to get rid of the Jarapassa political virus and brand of corruption in Lanka.

But his problem is that Ranil Wickramasinghe is not clean either – Arjuna Mahendran is an insider trader and needs to be tried in open court along with his son-in-law and Perpetual Treasuries.

I think getting Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka got much easier with the first Sri Lankan who has demonstrated he is worse than Ranil Wickremasinghe.

If the Tamil Diaspora cannot score the Victory goal under this President, I think they have been running a business to fend for themselves.

The blame for this situation squarely lies on shoulders of Mahinda Rajapakse who thought fattening his family was the need of the hour than doing right by every Sri Lankan.

A weak First Citizen could wreak havoc for the nation.

    • 28

This card is not going to work any more. Mahinda never fought against Tamil Eelam. This is about a war between Jungle law and rule of law. This is a war between truth and Lies. This is about selling Srilanka to china and liberating Srilanka from China.

    Mr President,

You are trying to close the stable door after the horse has bolted. MR and his gang are master crooks. They will use all kinds of tricks to recapture the party and the power. You have failed to uphold ‘Yahaplanaya’ by allowing their nominations and betrayed the nation that was beginning to breath the sigh of relief from an autocratic and corrupted rule of MR and his family.

Now it is again a painful process to re-establish the Jan 8 people revolution for good governance by defeating MR and his cronies in the Parliamentary election. Whether the electorate will repeat the same performance and defeat MR and his cronies we are not so sure. If it won’t you are totally responsible.

but the line is still on the hand of Mr President or not. As he says, if he does not allow, MR wont be the PM. How can he ?
At the time, Kadirgamar was about to be offered Premiiership, that was passed to the bugger, just because people against a tamil becoming a PM. This time, there will be few others that may have better qualifications to do the job as a PM than the most greedy man surrouned by goons.

Constitutionally President is duty bound to appoint the majorities preference from the parliament majority , if MR managed to bribed the elected MPs with Millions of $ as before , MY3 would not have much options left with him , but to appoint him as the PM.

PS: MY3’s explanation and justifications do not match with the extreme danger which we face as a nation ,my humble opinion is , MY3 should have left MR to contest on his own party while expediting MR’s corruption charges.

        • 1
          0

what happpned to the current PM appointment `?

On the grounds even if MR would be gotten more votes from idiotic folks, Prez has his rights to appoint the next to Meehraharak Raja, since he has servered and abused the nation for long 10 long years and the fact he is the only man being a prez got defeated once, but ballige putha has guts and thickskinned nature as to amanner to the high criminals roaming in Guanthanbe prison – but donkey folks nt to see it right – can pave him way back. Anyways, to my eye, donkey folks deserve a donkey of that kind only.
Either ballige putha should be removed by God or be taught a lession to be fall that deep to go out of our sights.
For me, Prez Sirisena s every word has a deep meaning. Those who just say, he could avoid giving MR nomination could lead to a blood bath across the country – since his thugs are still not caught by the 6-month held govt. He also said, RW is not an abusive politician which is also right. AND EVERy RIGHT thinking would consider it as regardless of Central bank issues arose by appointed man by him. Besides, RW should be given a chance just looking at the way he put together his party amidst highly abusive men in and out making all the sabotage. I also like Sajith Premadasa – he has every chance to become a leading position in the future of the country. All the latter are not corrupted. So only the island can turn to a good and civilized country.

Those who genuinely thought that President Sirisena has betrayed the trust placed on him by 6.2 million voters, especially by the Thamils and Muslims will now feel a sigh of relief. It is obvious that Sirisena was brow beaten by ex president Rajapaksa and his goons in the SLFP/UPFA. It looks though they held the gun to his forehead to get his signature on the nomination paper. Sirisena need not fear anyone as long as the people are with him. The Thamils more than any other community suffered untold hardships and indignities under Rajapaksa’s dispensation. Corruption, bribery, extortion, murder apart the Thamils were under the gun of the predominantly Sinhala army. The Thamil people were treated like dirt and untouchables by Rajapaksa. Several thousand acres of land belonging to the poor Thamil peasants were appropriated to build camps, luxury hotels, swimming pools, palaces for the president, golf course for army bigwigs, health resorts, war memorials etc. The government of Rajapaksa never failed to remind the Thamils that they are a conquered race eligible only for the crumbs that fall from the masters’ table. Rajapaksa drunk with power went so far as to scrap 13 A altogether like what Mrs. Bandaranaike and Colvin R de Silva scuttled section 29(2) of the Soulbury constitution in 1972. It wasn’t by chance that after World War II, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights recognized the inherent dignity and the equal rights of all members of the human family as the foundation for freedom, justice and peace in the world. Under Sirisena the amiable and lovable president we hope Sri Lanka will live up to these fundamental principles and become a prosperous and wealth country like Singapore! Let us consign the Rajapaksa siblings who unashamedly spew raw racism and hatred of other communities to the dust bin of history.

      Are you mad?
It is only because of MR that there is a working 13A and a provincial council in North..You were eating crumbs sent from colombo during war anyway..it is thanks to Mahinda that tamils could lead a normal life….when the lands in high security zones were released the papers carried Mahinda’s signatures. That is because he had already apportioned the lands to be distributed

        sachoooooooooooooooo

“That is because he had already apportioned the lands to be distributed”

What has happened to the land that weren’t apportioned to be distributed? Did MR appropriate it to his clan and cronies?

        • 0
          6

If Mahinda apportioned it to his cronies why the hell he signed for a land distribution papers for owners? He could have done that without signing ignoramus.

Between this is our country not yours, we decide to whome we give our land

            sachoooooooooooooo

Whose land are we talking about?

The land does not belong to anyone, particularly the descendants of Kallathonies. Your land is in South or North India, go claim your piece of land in Thamil Nadu or Bihar.

      Thank you Thangame Thangam.

I know it even though he need not to face a election soon, and even if so he need not win depending only from Sinhala Votes, and all party members of his own worked inside of the party to remove the old king out of the leadership and make him as the party leader, and even though military, police, or any/all powerful group has not simply guaranteed not to stage themselves a coup, but even thawed one on the 9th morning the old king was about to stage, and after all two Chief Justices have been dismissed to bring the third obedient puppet to serve on his feet, still the new King is sacred to put one single corrupted politician or an official in prison. It is not just the Sinhalese Criminals, even the Vidha Murder case lawyer has been forced to withdraw from the case. This is the man you have been portraying as the savior of Muslims and Tamils. It is un-hide-able truth you people worked together to save Old King from genocide Investigation. There was no revolution or evolution took place on 8th of Jan. 2015 to change the Sinhala Intellectual’s behaviors. All the propaganda as “history making with MY3” are the plot staged by the Sinhala Intellectuals and supporters like you on an un-seen historical proportion. When you like to show Colvin as the only enemy of the Tamils or even adding a part to Sirima sitting and watching Colvin’s notoriety is going to help to hide who you are?

“Sirisena need not fear anyone as long as the people are with him.”

To whom this con-artist is feared of ? Old King?

White washers like you washes much more than what need to washed, even if is it is not dirty. Comedian!

    Maithiri

Thank you for your wonderful speech.

You have now pitched the right tempo for my darling hero Mahinda for his victory. Anything you say is plus for Mahinda. Your speech has galvanised the inevitable victory for Mahinda.

I am the happiest as I can relax now.

Please make sure you deliver another speech two days before the election. Hammer and slander Mahinda and hurl him with dirty mud of Baira Lake. You don’t need to count the ballets as the outcome will be 100% Mahinda.

    Wow! Wow!! Wow!!!

If your stance is neutral in the upcoming election, then why did you care a lot to protect SLFP from breaking. You should have not give nomination to MR eventhough SLFP can secure only 7 or 8 seats in the election when MR is contesting in a different party. You cared the party rather the country. Attributing with history can not be excused. The best thing to do in the next UNP gov. is to jail MR and his looters immediately whether they win or loose. I will not ask people to choose right person to the parliament since the racist foolish idiots will go behind MR’s stinking shoe.

The Nation is relieved after the address of the President. This was an excellent speech and he spoke from the heart. We the people salute the President and I have no doubt he regained his lost reputation. Although many were blaming the President, I contended he would not have endorsed the nomination of MS. I am happy my assessment was correct.
I have no doubt the Nation will stand by its President in giving their verdict on 17th August.

PRESIDENT. THANK YOU FOR THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH GIVEN TO ALL SRILANKANS ON THE EIGHTH OF JANUARY.

THE FIRST RULE ON THE BOOKS OF DEMOCRACY. IS. FREEDOM OF SPEECH. THIS WAS TAKEN AWAY FROM US DURING THE LAST REGIME.

DEMOCRACY IS A MAN’s RIGHT .WHATS THE POINT OF RULING A NATION UNDEMOCRATICALLY IN THE NAME OF DEMOCRACY.

AGAIN AND AGAIN! I have mentioned this repititively. Its up to the people. Vote counts and vote is powerful. Please educated the villages about marapassas. Maithri and those who are non corrupt who supports yahapalanaya nominate these candidates. DOnt nominate UPFA OR SLFP thieves. Don tgive a single vote. EDUCATE THE MASSES. Otherwise the coutnry would be gone to dogs.

This is a good turn of events. MY3 supports RW. I hope MY3 people in SLFP will support National Govt and join hands with RW,SF,Champika,SLMC &TNA to form a national govt. MR will still left with 4-5 orphans. Donot know whether even they will remain. MR backers wanted to get into the parliament after they get in they will lean towards majority view to get Ministerial post, who is going to be bothered about MR.

MRs calculation of Kurunagala is likely to backfire as the army was used as laborers in MR regime. Kurunagala is more in tune with Kandian sentiments than down south sentiments. Also Jonny and Jaya will get good number of votes. So MR’s margin even if he wins is likely be small. SFs promotion to field marshal and restoration of dignity of the forces will work for UNP. I feel MR’s calculations are not going to work.

MR will probably come third from among the UPFA members contesting for Kurunegala. It will be embarrassing and a terrible come down after losing the Presidency. He will regret badly…..

The President MS proves beyond doubt that he is committed to good governance at all costs including allowing the worst crook and the criminal of the century to contest in a democratic election. Unless one is found guilty by the rule of law / courts he cannot be punished in advance. So MS is perfectly correct in all counts. We Srilankans are as usual emotional and sentimental in making conclusions. Let people give the verdict once again as predicted by the President and others.
The left behind Seven billion $ question is why this Mara criminal with all the humiliation still goes on his knees behind everyone to get nomination. The answer is very simple. He and his gangsters are still find SriLanka is the safe havens for them. See this fellow has no guts or confidence to contest in his own home electorate. He is running for election to a place where he believes can tell lies as usual and rouse voters with Tiger stories and capitalize on fake Sinhala nationalism. But the voters of Kurunagalle will teach this crony a good lesson by saying we are not a dust bin to get dumped with this kind of crooks in our electorate. Will in any part of this world after exposing of the crimes of such gangsters will be allowed to contest in decratic process such as an election. Unless they go to Swaziland or to another equalant place and hide in the backyard of the so called king who is famous for molestation of girls in the name of Royal traditions, the gang will be hanged for their crimes they have committed .
We have seen in the history what happend to Hitler, Idi Ameen, Polpot, Mussoulini, Bib Laden and many other wicked rulers. So, MaRas have only short time left for their end. Let them try all tricks the have in hand at the cost of the loop holes of GOod governance and the liberal thinking of Sri Lankans.

The President has said very loud and clear that MR will be defeated whilst posters have shown that Maithree-Mahinda are together. What a bluff.

Hello Folks – If the above statement of the President is authentic(still doubtful, as he flip flops),it is obvious that he could not withstand the onslaught by the two secys. of SLFP/UPFA, who wanted
to protect the culprits, who swindled the country and now under
investigation, at any costs and the country’s progress comes second
    to these patriots.
The biggest blunder the President ever made was, that he did not bring in drastic changes in SLFP and fortified his position on assumption
of office as president, by appointing his confidants as secretary and inner circle immediately, as demanded by CBK. Instead, he visited
world leaders and wasted much of the precious time and gave enough time
and room for MR clan to plot his return to politics. The president, indeed had a vision to bring back democratic rule as he sincerely felt that people were taken for a ride by the previous regime and corruption
and political thuggery were rife. If he postponed the visits to the world leaders and got his foreign minister Managala to explain the situ.to them, they would have understood and stayed on ground, passing all the people friendly legislations, like 19A, 20A, Constitution council etc,at a time UPFA was thoroughly disorganized and in disarray,
we would not have been in this bad situation, today.

MR, in his latest speech said that he will ensure that all Chinese
projects, including the dollar guzzling white elephants, which are on hold, will be re activated, irrespective of whether they are viable or not, if he becomes the PM and also he has not spoken a word about reconciliation efforts with the minorities nor apologised for the atrocities committed to the minorities during his regime. This clearly shows that there will be no change in his way of governance, if he becomes the PM

It is not too late for the President to put things right. The weapon
is in the hands of the voters and all what the president has to do is
to given protection for the voters against political thuggery and ensure, ill gotten people’s money does not play a major part in the election and ensure no vote rigging and similar acts of vandalism. He
should personally supervise that no lawlessness creeps in ,during the election days,in the country , specially in N/E and keep the police
and armed forces on full alert for any eventualities. He should take
a neutral stand and it will be understood by the people that the
President, who received 6.2 million votes in his favour, is with the people, who want good governance.

All voters must demand a declaration of assets from candidates who canvass their votes in the coming election, as suggested.
    [Edited out]
This will show the ‘previous history’ of each candidate.

I venture to suggest they should also demand to know the educational level of each candidate.
If any candidate has not passed the GCE O Level, he cannot understand the constitution, and does not deserve a citizen’s vote.

The president should ensure that all directives of the Elections Commissioner are carried out correctly by all public servants.
Only then, will we have a free and fair election.

Now, the sleaze bags in the UPFA can’t claim that Mahinda and Maithripala are fighting together for a UPFA win. Siripala, Yapa and Susil are the biggest arse**les who were surreptitiously working for Rajapaksa and hope to ride on his back to get elected and continue where they left off with their corruption and other illegal activities.

I applaud Sirisena for making it loud and clear that he does not want Rajapaksa to win. Rajapaksa is sure to lose now.

The mouse that roared. That pretty well sums up my opinion. Having spent a few days after his capitulation, he has made fairly good yarn. By the way he seems to be a good story teller – look at the way he brought in the Titanic.

If he is such a principled guy, why did he sign MR’s nomination papers? Could not stand pressure, I am sure.

I am glad that the Tigers were destroyed before MS became the Presidante’. His staff should keep a good stock of Tom & Jerry cartoons, if they want MS not to repeat the same kind of cowardice.

“The President said that when the vast majority of UPFA members demanded that Mahinda Rajapaksa should be given nomination and make him the Prime Ministerial candidature, he pointedly refused these demands. “

Last week New King said he dissolve the parliament and set the election date to defeat the Old King from benefiting the UNHRC inquiry.

It does not matter how many times he twist his story. This the relationship with the Sinhala Intellectuals and the Sinhala Buddhists.

Great leader and Head of State.
    Very composed and calm.

Compare to Mahinda Rajapaksa …..Maithreepala Sirisena is a real gentlemen.

Nowadays everyone can monitor how MR behave. He is crying out for power that he horrendously lost in January 08th.

Dear voters and specially our young people I kindly ask you all be very wise and caste your vote to expel Mahinda Rajapaksa and his all henchmen from politics.

    Dear President,
A crystal clear explanation and a true reflection of your thoughts to those who try to genuinely understand .To those who were watchful and vigilant your pronouncement came as a big relief since it provided the basis for sanity to prevail among the confused and the mislead.
The conjectures and possible events projected by you cannot be ruled out as absurd or imaginative due to what the country has so far witnessed in our political history. After attaining the Noble Buddahood Gouthama Buddha had to leave his Disciples maha sanga and live in exile at Parliya forest when the divisions and confusions among them became uncontrollable! Therefore there is nothing wrong in your deciding to be neutral in the present circumstances and leave the society to return at least some good among the many hopeless to help you deliver the promises you made and were trusted and believed by the people at a time when there was. no one to rely on.
Democracy is not to put your foot down but allow the majority to choose and decide.
You have done the right thing. It was not difficult to understand some of your concerns and constraints although you refrained from detailing those in your speech.
It is not difficult to understand the the acts and tricks of Judas in your bunch.
You did not disclose those. But we know.we congratulate you as a great man trying your best to steer clear out of this tedious path filled with obstacles and conflicts!
    Rusiri
