Maithri Is Trying To Break SLFP Backbone: Salinda

Former Minister Salinda Dissanayake today lashed out at President Maithripala Sirisena and accused him of attempting to break the backbone of the SLFP.

Salinda Dissanayake

Salinda Dissanayake

An angered Dissanayake made these remarks in response to the decision made by the SLFP central committee to remove him from the committee with effect from today. The Kurunegala district MP who is a supporter of the UPFA snubs’ call to bring back Mahinda Rajapaksa into politics and as the Prime Ministerial candidate of UPFA at the upcoming polls said President Sirisena is attempting to create a SLFP that is servile to the UNP.

“That is what happened with this recent creation of the national unity government. . . We have no objection about him being elected as the President – that was through the mandate of the people. But he has no right to remain as the Chairman of the SLFP since he contested the election from the swan symbol,” he added.

MP Dissanayake went on to state that after President Sirisena was elected and thereafter appointed a new set of officials to the party administration, MPs who are way lower in the seniority hierarchy of the party received higher positions than him. “These positions were given to these individuals simply owing to the fact that they pledged support to him at the election,” he said.

Speaking further he said that he will not back down against such actions but would continue their struggle to elect former President Rajapaksa as the PM of Sri Lanka.

Five MPs removed from SLFP CC

      http://www.dailymirror.lk/69251/five-mps-removed-from-slfp-cc

Five SLFP Parliamentarians had been removed from the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party with immediate effect, party sources said.

Accordingly, former ministers Bandula Gunawardane, S.M.Chandrasena, T.B.Ekanayake, Rohitha Abeygunawardane and Salinda Dissanayake were removed by party chairman Maithripala Sirisena.

The letters informing their removal had been received today. However, these MPs said that there were no reasons given for their removal.

“I received the letter saying that the Central Committee of the SLFP, which met recently, has decided to remove me from the Central Committee, but no reason was given,” MP Gunawardane told the Daily Mirror Online.

MP Dissanayake speaking to the Daily Mirror Online said that no explanation had been given as to why he was removed from the Central Committee and added that he was shocked at the decision as he was engaged in politics representing the SLFP for over 40 years.

He is among the SLFP MPs who are backing the call for former President Rajapaksa to be made the PM candidate of the UPFA. – See more at:

These guys are agents of MR and they all want to cover up the corruptions committed during the past 9 years. From the series of news reports it is evident the numerous ways the country’s resources have been robbed, stolen, wasted and ruined.

It will take some time to establish all these crimes with sufficient proof to satisfy the courts and these guys would like to see MR back in power before the investigators finalise to produce these criminals in courts.

The politicians and public officials who rob the country should be dealt with special laws.
Most of the ill gotten wealth are either saved abroad and which are held in Sri Lanka are in the name of their kith and kin or close relations. Investigations must be carried out against all these people and punished.

Punishments should be to cease all assets held by these people, ban civic rights for life, and cut off the hand, or leg and made to suffer. This will ensure rogues would not enter politics.

dcn, have you considered how some companies are expanding. Some companies are in clothing, health, food, construction all after 5 years. How did they get the capital required. The answer is that the people who rooked the public have invested in these companies, may through proxies. These companies have expanded their span so much so that if they are hit, the country’s economy will collapse. The Govt introduced all those taxes, more typical of the Leftist governments in order to circumvent the activity of these rogue investors. It will take some time to bring all these operations of the rogues under control. What is surprising is that the Govt is not attempting to develop an alternative economic base with new people at the helm of these enterprises

what matters for them – is just to abuse further. Crystallator for all high level abuses – is M-A-H-I-N-D-A JARAPAKSHE. Else any politician would agree with any kind of better Amds strengthening the people s power of the country.

I listened to SF ‘s speeches held at Sirasa last night. I felt SF is the best leader for reduction and elemination of corruption and abuses in this country. He promised if it is assigned to him, he would work on that showing tangible results within two weeks. We need such disiplined – former Army, Navy or Marine senior men to bring all these in reality- no doubt a man who fought a war to the end -so he can also put the stop to drug and all the abusive system being carried out by former govt.
All the questions were answered by him with a constructive manner- was what i could feel after watching that video. He further says that we need to be patient, since the duties before the current leaders are not at all easy while former President s fractions are making every effort to sabotage any good steps. Latter is fully right – TO THE EYS OF THE EDUCATED FRACTIONS of the the country and outside

Our current politicians are way ahead of the law & order , most of the ill gotten wealth are not in their names or relatives , that happened during 70 s , latest trend is to use unsuspecting, very loyal subordinates , case in point is SL Russian Ambassador Udayanga Weerathunga , he had used his kitchen staff member as a proxy to hide all his ill gotten wealth , of course this method comes with a high risk , if and when the proxy decides to call it a day ,literally proxy signs his own death certificate.

But even today, they the idiotic supporters have not stoped supporting former abusive man – and making every effort to fielding him as their represenatative. Where on the earth defeated prezs behaved on this way ? No where but in the island where many of the voters stay very irresponsible when it is vote for good parties.

Ah the old trick Ranil taught him. fill the central committee with bootlickers then you will be safe.

Same way he filled up the WC of the UNP and remained leader for life of the UNP and destroyed its grassroots and lost every election.

Great idea Sirisena make un-winnable Ranil win.

Salinda Dissanayake complains, ‘ But he (MS) has no right to remain as the Chairman of the SLFP since he contested the election from the swan symbol,” he added.

Was it not under the Betel leaf that MR contested? Then how come MR was eligible to remain as the Chairman of the SLFP?

All these buggers will start to purge once nominations are denied to them including MR, on the day of nominations. Great Fun indeed.

I know eh.. fun indeed to teh core… These morons would not get nominations and before we know MR and the goons would be locked up for all the plundering that was done by him and his cronies… this guy seems to be a boot-licker too who wants MR at any cost…. these guys should be monitored and their declaration of assets should have been thoroughly investigated…

He being a Minister who hails from Kurunegala, he might be in the same rank as Johnston Fernando and Dayasiri…

          Gamini ,

Is it true that Ranil is going to give nominations for Johnston and Thissa A from UNP this time ?

            0

            Srilal,

Not as far as I know. I doubt Ranil will take them back, now that their true character is revealed and the UNP could do well without such characters. Be mindful that there are various stories speculated to create confusion. Ranil will take action against the corrupt at the right time using the relevant authorities although many are blaming him for the delay. Strategy cannot be compromised, therefore let us leave it to him, like how he ousted MR taking time that proved his point.

“Former Minister Salinda Dissanayake today lashed out at President Maithripala Sirisena and accused him of attempting to break the backbone of the SLFP.”

You idiot, who has an IQ of 65. just like the 5.8 million who voted for Mahinda Rajapaksa, just look at yourself in the mirror.

The Medamulana Mahinda Rajapaksa and his Family took the SLFO and the People of Sri Lanka for a ride , assuming all are Modays, Mootals and Fools, like you. He is partially correct.

The Only problem was that there were only 5.8 million Modayas, Mootals, and Fools, but fortunately there were 6.3 million Sri Lankans with common sense.

Rewmember, the faractiin of Modayas, Mootals and Fools who subscribe to you declining.

You idiot, who lacks common sense, despite all the lies, corruption, Crockery, and Criminal activity, do you still subscribe to Medamulana Mara?

This Gentleman Amarasiri is seen in the response column for every article on Colombo Telegraph. What is interesting is that he uses the same words, same sentences, same abuse and foul language, same vituperations and same argument if one can discern any. He always compares the IQ of people who voted for and against Maithree Sirisena. According to him Estate/Upcountry Tamils, Muslims and Northen Tamils and Sinhala religious minorities and Colombians have a higher IQ than us from Sinhala villages
      Reason is obvious. [Edited out]

“This Gentleman Amarasiri is seen in the response column for every article on Colombo Telegraph.”

” He always compares the IQ of people who voted for and against Maithree Sirisena.”

gigurawa, Mahinda Rajapaksa “Girawa”, or Parrot, do not treat stupidity to vote for Mahinda Rajapaksa as a virtue!

        1. This is the PROBLEM with those Modayas who voted for Mahinda Rajapakasa, Low IQ.

These Modayas, Mootaals and Fools do not know the difference between the AVERAGE IQ of a Population Group, the Mahinda Modayas and Fools, and the actual IQ of an Individual Modaya or Fool.

        2. For Every Modaya or Fool with IQ of 50, whether from the 54% Sinhala Buddhists or 20% non-Sinhala Buddhists, who voted for Mahinda, there should be an equal number of Modayas with IQ of 80, to get the Average IQ of 65 for the Mahinda Modayas.

For the Common Candidate, for every low IQ person with IQ of 70, one needs one person with IQ of 110, to end up with an average of IQ of 90. However, the low-end IQ of those who voted for the Common Candidate is likely to be around 79.

        3. The bottom line is that, the AVERAGE IQ of the Modayas, Fools and Mootals, whether Sinhala Buddhists, Sinhala Christians, Tamil Hindus, Tamil Christians, Sinhala Muslims, Tamil Muslim, Malayas etc. who VOTED for MAHINDA RAJAPAKSA have a much lower IQ compared to THOSE WHO VOTED FOR THE COMMON CANDIDATE.

        4. These Modayas, Mootaals and Fools want to turn the Land of Native Veddah Aethho, to the Land of Modayas, Mootaals and Fools.

Fortunately, there were not enough of them, Modayas, Mootaals and Fools, to be picked collectively from the Sri Lankan Voters.

Strictly speaking, the Votes of the people should be normalized for IQ. Otherwise the Modayas, Mootals and Fools can prevail and mess p a country, has has been happening in Lanka, the Land of the Native Veddah Aethho.

Here is another Mahinda Modaya, who cannot do simple Arithmetic or Math. Wimal Modawansa.

        gigurawa,
In one way, Amarasiri is not fully wrong.Just take the
5.8 million voters of MARA for an example.Mainly
village based, corrupt and communally driven mind set.
This is the target of MARA & Co.MARA convinced them
with so much ease that only he can protect them from
all dangers including economic collapse that he himself
was responsible for.Had it not for the joint effort of
UNP,SLFP,TNA,SLMC,JHU and few other parties and many
civil organisations, this country today would have been
a Congo or Zimbabwe. We were nearly there to achieve the
target of class A corrupt nation!

Correction Amarasiri. The 5.8 voted for Medumulana Mara were unfortunately ignorant and some were bribed and others were promised heaven. Hope they have now realized and keep away from these corrupted idiots who are all out to ruin this country.

        Ebahtog,

“Correction Amarasiri. The 5.8 voted for Medumulana Mara were unfortunately ignorant and some were bribed and others were promised heaven.”

This is true, but their actions and voting for Mahinda Rajapaksa is similar to those Modayas, Mootals and Fools who were well informed about the issues at hand about the Mahinda Regime. Their low IQ’s could not comprehend that.

This is very similar to the case of the Sun going around the Earth, vs. the Earth revolving on its own axis and going around the Sun, like the other planets. Still 25% of Americans and 34% Europeans believe in the Geocentric model, and that must be close to 48% for Sri Lankans, close to the percentage who voted for Mahinda Rahjapaksa.

        http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2014/02/14/277058739/1-in-4-americans-think-the-sun-goes-around-the-earth-survey-says

A quarter of Americans surveyed could not correctly answer that the Earth revolves around the sun and not the other way around, according to a report out Friday from the National Science Foundation.

The survey of 2,200 people in the United States was conducted by the NSF in 2012 and released on Friday at an annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Chicago.

To the question “Does the Earth go around the Sun, or does the Sun go around the Earth,” 26 percent of those surveyed answered incorrectly.

In the same survey, just 39 percent answered correctly (true) that “The universe began with a huge explosion” and only 48 percent said “Human beings, as we know them today, developed from earlier species of animals.”

Just over half understood that antibiotics are not effective against viruses.

As alarming as some of those deficits in science knowledge might appear, Americans fared better on several of the questions than similar, but older surveys of their Chinese and European counterparts.

Only 66 percent of people in a 2005 European Union poll answered the basic astronomy question correctly. However, both China and the EU fared significantly better (66 percent and 70 percent, respectively) on the question about human evolution.

In a survey compiled by the National Opinion Research Center from various sources, Americans seemed to generally support science research and expressed the greatest interest in new medical discoveries and local school issues related to science. They were least interested in space exploration, agricultural developments and international and foreign policy issues related to science.

This man’s allegiance is to the deposed dictator and therefore he has no place in Sirisena’s SLFP of today. Rajapaksa’s SLFP is dead and gone and, after his defeat, all his cronies will have to find jobs as they will not get nominations from the SLFP at the coming general election. The same fate awaits the maharajah himself. It is time for Sirisena to take a firm stand or else Rajapaksa will destroy him.

    • 16
      3

Sirisena isn’t a dumb man, He knows that if MR comes to politics it will be a hard time to sideline MR from acting in the government ministerial post.

Sirisena will also surely avoid the nominations to the companions of MR to contest. Probably these guys needed to find a way to earn from the different party outside UPFA. Otherwise, they will even lose the luck and pensions for their retirement.

  • 13
    3

Wonder why these MR henchmen still go after him when MR duped all of them by going for early Presidential elections.

It is MR who learnt all the crooks and tricks after his getting experienced for 45 years in politics and who has the files of all his henchmen.

It’s good that finally Pres.Maithreepala Sirisena showing what he said during the elections with, discipline and good governance to the party and to the country.

Sri Lanka lacks Disciplene where every Tom, dick and harry think they are the masters and they could do whatever they want when the come into Parliament.

Both Pres.Maithreepala and madam CBK should discipline the party MPs and rescue the party before crook Rajapakse could steals them by any means.

Rajapakse using a bunch of nuts with lowest IQ for TV show off interviews cannot dupe intelligent voters. He has to fall behind party line and party agenda. Otherwise MR himself will divide the party and bring mayhem to the country.

Both Pres.Maithreepala Sirisena and Madam CBK should take extra protection these days.

Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family made no distinction beetween state owned property and family owned property. Govvernment owned property was used as though it is their own private property. During the election campaign from December 01, 2014 to January 08, 2015 the family used airfoce helicopters and planes to criss cross the country on a daily basis. The cost of such use of air planes were never paid. Millions not paid and it was not intended to be paid. Here are the details of this sordid abuse of power.

They could easily get 50 seats+

Jagath , are you out of your mind ? all these are rouges , criminals , Drug barons , rapists , Child molesters , down right racists ! for the sake of a formidable opposition you suggest these criminals to represent us in the parliament again ? never again , all these criminals must be sent to Walikada & Bogambara , nothing less will do ! don’t worry too much about the opposition role as of yet , MY3 is a person whom we can trust ( before the presidential nominations , i was very much skeptical about MY3 , but during and after the election he has improved exponentially , just look at the steps which he has taken from the very first day of the inauguration )

In the first place, when did the SLFP have a backbone? The backbone to the SLFP was provided by all the Nationalist minded parties that it gave up it’s hand symbol somewhere down the line to have a Betel leaf as it’s symbol today. Holy cow, this time around MR is losing not only the symbol but the backbone as well. It is strategy of RW not to lock any of MR just now, until the next General Election is over. MR outside is more useful than inside for RW to form a strong UNP govt, as the gullible public has been misled with half truths and untruths by MR and his ilk. Guess who will have the last laugh after the next General Elections?

      Gamini ,

Again you are severely undermining the stupidity of SL masses , MR led clan along with their media barons have already managed to paint a negative picture of the current regime. talk to 10 people , you would find more than half of them are not happy with the current setup , why ? Derana , Sirasa et al going extra mile to help their masters with their ulterior motives , Ranil thinks every body thinks like him , no way , more than two third of our population use their hearts over brains , when it comes to politics.

Ranil still doesn’t know who MR is , MR is a guy who has no shame , guilt or any sense dignity what soever , he will do any thing , i mean any thing to come to power , basically Ranil is playing with fire !

Spot on!Not two third, more than 95% use the heart
for brain. And why? Mainly because there’s no
training to put the brain into proper use in any
of our systems. The system developed with all cost
is,to work with the heart,an alternative cheap
source of energy powered by the likes of MARA.I
was of the opinion from the beginning that the
slogan of “good governance” itself will easily
turn against them because it’s a trap they set up
against their own selves in the long run.A country
which lives in corruption in every walks of life is,
not ready for an over night U turn magic just
because a dozens, hundreds or thousands wanted it.
MARA understands this and thrives on it and he
does not shy away from giving it the necessary
leadership. He wants to hold his 5.8 million awake
to keep him safe.If this govt can not deal with
corruption and Tamil issue successfully and fast,
then the question arises as to why a national
        govt?

Yours is the best among the few.

You analyse it to the top considering all ground realities. Most of people would stay years long deaf and blind. As you say masses are like that. Yes Ranil s thinking could be similar to that of many of us here. He ticks very healthy unfrotunately a illful bugger could lead the majority stupid people than anyone similar to RW. However, I respect RW today more than I did months before. His perseverance should be commendable. Lately, I listened him telling the audience that there is nobody who had been attacked by abusive langauges thrown by Rajapakshe henchmen. But today, most of them have to listen to him as the PM of the nation. Not for anything, but for their sake only SLFPers did not agree with Ranil becoming the PM of the new govt.

      Gamini@,

with all respect as I see it – no village level awareness program carried out by UNP yet is the reality them to be faced all kind of attacks or lies about them. When looking at the manner new Deputies do their job – not any one with a little brain disagree that we need such leadership back to gear up the nation.I think people are just fed up being unable to see them not being arrested yet. I mean the Sharks not the sprats. If all is made responsible form prima facie evidence on, why to wait that long – to arrest at least one SINGLE morek-SHARK. Almost everyone would celebrate it if current rulers would have done that at least now.

With few more days to go with the 100-day program – I feel not tangible changes are made towards the steps taken to eleminate the corruption and high abuses. Now all those fed with lack information to attack RW for Central Bank scandal is very unfair, but this is in Srilanka filled with all stupid men and women who woudl do anything for a plate of rice.

Quote “Both Pres.Maithreepala and madam CBK should discipline the party MPs and rescue the party before crook Rajapakse could steals them by any means.”

PRADEEP ; You must be out of your mind to invite CBK to rescue the party. Its like inviting a hungry Foxen to clean up a hen pen.

Get Sira to send back CBK to the UK where she belong and take up the job upon himself…………….

Most of the dissidents will not get nominations and hence the need to have MR.

I would like to see MR and the thugs contesting from another party. They still can get 50 seats

The truth is the opposite.My3 came out to protect the
backbone of the SLFP with his own life at risk!It was
already more than half filled by junks from UNP and
other tuktuk parties.SLFP was already another name
    for racism, corruption, nepotism, authoritarianism
terror, ransom, hooliganism and whatever you name it
but democracy. Elections year round wasting public
money is not democracy! The fact is that no SLFPer
had the backbone to fight and win against the
rural MARA & Co’s baby faced evils!Where do they get
the courage now from? Why not this courage a three
months ago? Shameless cowards are under illusion that
My3 is helpless without them.My3 started to fire the
shots at the right time.Come on My3 clear the rotten
    eggs of the basket.

Those who wants MR back, please ask MR to sue welamuna and the BOI report and prove that he is not guilty along with his BIL to gor Sri lankan into billions of debt,NAMAL who carried out petty projects to the tune of 86 million,Yositha who carried out spare parts business,AVIATION minister who 3 million loan.if he is a honest politician he must do that first before he even think of coming into politics again.Sarath silva should have jailed him when he misappropriated tsunami funds decades ago. This money was given to rebuild lives that lost during TSUNAMI.MR even swindled that when he was a PM.

Sidelining the famous five, would have sent the message to the grass root level. I read in another web site Kumar Welgama stating after the Negam Visit to Medamulana that he would discuss the matter with Prez MS. I do not know about the Party Constitution of the SLFP but from what happened I can conclude that the Party President has the right to appoint or expel a certain number of members without a hearing.

Once upon a time land owners had thousands of acres of
lands and that got reduced only to fifty by Sirimavo.
Similarly, we had two major political parties of the
paradise in the beginning and gradually wheeler parties
started to show up. And in the process, wheeler parties
first managed to creep into the cabinet of Limousine
party govts and slowly slowly and steadily made it
inevitable for the Limousines. Now, with the latest
fiasco, thanks to MARA, there’s going to be no more
Limousines and only Tuck Tucks. Believe me,I had a
client of mine from England on a tour here just a
couple of weeks ago.He said ” I hardly found a car
on your Southern Expressway and spent more than four
hours to reach Kandy on a traffic free day.” We are
fast becoming a country of Tuck Tucks.
