Mass Graves Haunt Ranil, Premadasa And Douglas

Apart from war massacres there lies the question of the military burying bodies of 2000 university students under Batticaloa stadium circa 1990 and in a cemetery in Chemmani and Mannar.

Fr. Harry Miller, an American missionary priest, attached to St Michael’s College told this writer in 1995 that the stadium was built over the bodies of these students and a military zone barred from the public.

Fr. Miller arrived in Ceylon in 1947 and was a witness to events unfolding since then. Ensconced in his top floor of St Michael’s he relentlessly recorded events as they unfolded. He is visited by foreign correspondents and his word is Bible truth in that he neither supports the LTTE or the government. He tells it as it is.

He returned to the US a few years ago and I am not sure whether he is still alive.

Which leads us to the Batalanda Commission kick-started inquiries into Ranil Wickremasinghe’s alleged torture chambers in Kelaniya ( a block of housing flats) during the late ‘80’s when JVP youth were hunted down and shot in the middle of the night during the Premadasa regime by Black Cats led by DIG Udugampola and their bodies displayed in junctions and Kelaniya river.

This commission was conveniently placed in cold storage like all other Presidential Commissions.

I personally witnessed at least six bodies per day in ‘89/’90 at Enderamulla Junction where Bus 261 stops to take passengers to Gaspara Handiya in Pettah. On the way I saw bloated bodies of youth floating on Kelani River down Peliyagoda way.

I still recall the horrors of the night when dogs howled as jeeps sped past Keells Housing Scheme in Enderamulla and gunshots were heard before we saw blood splattered bodies lining the public road-side where Bus 261 stopped.

Sri Lanka parallels the Hammer House of Horrors – a British Drama series – in that the former is fiction and the latter a true scene of the macabre killings of dissenters by politicians.

How could anyone ever dream of electing Ranil Wickremasinghe as a future leader while his name is etched as a ruthless murderer of innocent youth. He is a mass murderer with no scruples and he is arrogant to a fault. ( He was not convicted/ check the report)

Now Douglas Devananda is a blood-thirsty Tamil militant turned politician and he has so far managed to placate both Chandrika Kumaratunga and MR. Allegedly there is ample evidence that he is behind white-van abductions and the murder of Kumar Ponnambalam in January 2000. The taped conversation of the alleged  killer was seriased in Thinamurasu. Thinamurasu editor Atputharajah was murdered subsequently. Thinamurasu was owned by none other than Douglas Devananda. Why does he continue to remain in the cabinet?

Matale mass graves and now emerging bodies in Mannar cemetery beg the question as to how those responsible have managed to escape their crimes. The only answer is they have State protection and complicity. Now it is easy to lay the blame on the LTTE for Mannar mass graves since all the cadres have been killed in Nanthikadal barring a few who are now government moles.

JVP youth are purported to have been buried in Matale. Could international investigators be allowed to make forensic studies of these bodies and would the government allow them unfettered access?

Dead do not speak.

With war crimes allegations gathering momentum and Sri Lanka’s need to justify its war against the LTTE which annihilated a sizeable number of surrendering civilians amounting to Tamil genocide aka eugenics which Hitler perpetrated in Jews, the UNHRC is not sitting comfortably that all is well in Rajapase’s xanadu.  This island is clouded with a murky and macabre past. The more it realises and wakes up from its slumber the more it can atone for its miserable conduct towards its minority Tamils.

Showpiece projects and beautifying Colombo by appropriating slum dwellers’ homestead and packing them off with pigeon-hole flats by the Defence Secretary Gotabhaya who is the President’s brother do not cut much ice with the evicted people who would agitate one day. There is only a limit to people’s patience and when this runs out God forbid the Rajapakses and MR can hot-foot it to Hague as the war criminal of the century.

All good things must come to an end and the end is nigh for the Rajapakses.

      Well said, Ramany K.

“Mass Graves Haunt Ranil, Premadasa And Douglas” – Can you see the obvious omission of Prabakaran in the list, but Douglas makes it?

If the Pirl thinks she can wipe the name of the monstrous mass murderer and terrorist of South Asia clean she is mistaken.

Apologists for dead Tigers come in all colours, ages, shapes and sizes. This is an old poisonous one. But they are wasting their time.

Mass Graves won’t haunt LTTE -financiers living in the west and try to fix the Sri Lankan govt because west protect them for their political needs.

    Otherwise, evidence are enormous.

Is this confusing to some people ? Of course how can this happen in a Buddhist nation ? Look at the many so called Buddhist nations around Asia. Countries like Sri lanka(whis is topping the list in crimes)Mayanmar. Thailand, Vietnam, Canbodia , and even Tibet for that matter, are all Buddhist countries. Thailand famous for sex tourism, Mayanmar famous for violent Buddhism and killing of poor Muslims, Sri Lanka famous for all kinds of barbaric killings, rape, vandalism, abductions, torture, looting the country, thuggery, nepotism and everything evil…Even all the leaders the past and the present are all murderers. Be it JR, Ranil, SWRD, Premadasa,Chandrika, MR ..and the whole lot. But they claim to be Buddhists, and that’s the funny part.
Long live Sinhala Buddhism and Buddhism in general. There is not much of a Buddhism in the birth place of Buddha, Nepal or even in India, except for a few followers. The real Buddhism is being murdered along with people, by the fake Buddhists in all these countries.
Religions are for people to use as a good guidance to lead a peaceful life. No religion teaches violence, thuggery, murder but love, compassion and coexistence. Religion is being used by criminals dressed in white national dress and saffron robed rascals to cheat people.
Can any one challenge about what Mrs. P has said about in this article ?
Feel shame about you, your country, your leaders you elected to misuse power and take you all for a ride. No one can correct the way things are going in Sri Lanka and it’s doomed to collapse in total disarray…
It’s a cursed nation on earth today.

Pearl Thevanayagam laments, ‘How could anyone ever dream of electing Ranil Wickremasinghe as a future leader while his name is etched as a ruthless murderer of innocent youth. He is a mass murderer with no scruples and he is arrogant to a fault. ( He was not convicted/ check the report)

Pearl seem to crucify RW that she accuses RW of having massacred innocent youth as if she saw RW gun in hand committed the murders. Further, she is biased against RW when she states that RW is arrogant to a fault. Therefore her ire against RW is understood as a foregone conclusion to blame RW totally for everything. Pearl as some others, appears not to see the side of violence these Innocent Youth committed prior, killing innocent Bread winners of families for merely reporting to duty or having a light on, when asked to stay in the dark. Pearl tell us frankly, what you would have done in RW’s shoes? I am not denying that Prenadasa/Cooray made full use of the situation to rid many an opponent both from within and outside the UNP. However to pin blame on RW alone, Pearl your slip is showing.

@Gamini – actually what Peal has siad about RW is true, I am surprised that you could think otherwise.. probably you are not aware about the torture center in Kelaniya and neither spoken or met with RW to know that he is an arogant man who by default got to be the leader of UNP and thus UNP today is where it is :-)

Pearl has kept her mouth(pen) reticent whenever the LTTE killed Muslim passengers in the East and buried them in mass graves in early 1990’s when she was attached to Wijaya Publications. For her journalism is promoting Tigers and Tamil Christian Faith. She belongs to a hardcore Tamil nationalist Christian elites and focuses on what she is trained to do.

pearl has been lamenting at her later days of her life and wants to see rajapaksaas be punished for “war crimes” before her death. Hope she will not see such a thing despite her curses and prayers as Jesus has already died of her sin, Prabakaran sins, and even , if you wish, the sins of Rajapaksaas.

Pray for a better Sri Lanka with or without Rajapaksa . It seems that you emulate a witch of a fables and witches have ever been triumphant !! . Live in your dreams of racial hatred and manipulative nasty journalism.

Razik. I never worked for Wijaya Publications. Get your facts right. You are not dissimilar to those who say I am living in a London hotel funded by the LTTE.

    No.

You worked as journalist reporting to wije publication or other but you were masquerading as someone , prbably a teacher I believe to enter jaffana via Army check point and detected.

LTTE do not need to fund you. I do not say that your analogy does not exonerate you from your”sin” of supporting the terrorists. In the UK asylum seekers are funded by the tax payers money .Only thing people like you should say that your life is in danger in Sri Lanka as journalist. Easy to get every thing free by the magic word of journalist with few papers. 90 of pro LTTE lawyers were there to help you people to beef up cases against Sri Lankan government since 1983..

    Razik,

I pay tax in UK and I do not rely on benefits. And I was never hauled up before courts in Sri Lanka. I visited Muslims in refugee camps in Batticaloa and wrote extensively.

I am not a coward to write under psedonyms.

Razik, I pity you for your ignorance.

I did not need to seek asylum since when I was a student in UK between ’76 and ’82 I had the opportunity to get British citizenship. I said no and returned to SL and worked as a journalist. I do not have to reply to you but morons like you are dime a dozen and cause dissent among our ethnic gropus with their half-baked truths.

Sri Lanka is too small an island to be divided.

Find another hobby instead of bashing journalists.

By the way, you would not know journalism if it hits you between the eye.

And I sincerely hope you do your homework before you comment.

I write in my name and we know morons like you well and your kind of journalism and lamenting for division. How dare you say that I write in pseudonyms. You wrote about Muslims for the purpose of not sympathy and if so , could you post your writings to CT that you openly blamed your brothers of mass murderers ,LTTE.

You now cleared yourself that you are not depending on benefits but who knows what you say is true. You now say Sri Lanka is too small when the LTTE is gone and you bunch of terrorist supporters became helpless.

You say you r a journalist of morality and never supported the mass murdered Pirabakaran and hid his sins against humanity. Now you only tend to look at the victor of the terrorist as human right violator. This is journalism.

It does not hit me our national heroes hit your terrorists in their eyes.
You be honest before you claim that you are a unbiased journalist.

I have heard this name Pearl T in the 80’s.She was a respected journalist. What she has written is absolute truth.People may have fading memories of Batalanda torture chamber.Ranil was called Batalanda Ranil. He testified in the Commission that although his office was situated in the Batalanda camp,he did not know that the camp was used as a torture chamber. What a liar! Mr. Razik may want to curry favour with people by critisizing LTTE.But don’t forget – you are not going to get anywhere by playing a double game.Usually you do whatever after getting to know where the wind blows.
