Colombo Chief Magistrate today ordered State Minister of National Integration and Reconciliation A. H. M. Fowzie to appear before court on October 28 over a case where he had allegedly misused a government vehicle.
The order was issued after the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption filed a case against Fowzie, claiming that he had misused a vehicle belonging to the Disaster Management Ministry during 2011 to 2014 which has resulted in the state losing Rs. 1.7 million.
Currently, National Freedom Front’s (NFF) Parliamentarian Jayantha Samaraweera and Sarath Weerawansa, brother of Wimal Weerawansa, are in remand for misusing vehicles belonging to the Presidential Secretariat.
Earlier, NFF’s Mohammed Muzzammil was also arrested and remanded, but subsequently released on bail, also for misusing vehicles of the Presidential Secretariat, during former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s term.

RE: Minister Fowzie To Be Remanded Next?
Very good. Go after All the Former Crooks of Mahinda Rajapaksa, and the current crooks of Yahapalanaya.
Then release them.
Merry go round.

Arresting and releasing corrupt politicians is a game that Ranil-Sira Jarapalanaya is playing with the Lankan public who voted for good governance. The UNP and SLFP politicians are a CASTE of CORRUPT crooks who collaborate to loot the people which distracting the moda SInhala Masses with Nationalism and Racism against minorities and women.
These a small fish who are being cuaght, and small amounts compared to the massive millions of $$ stolen by the Mahinda Jarapassa family – brothers, sons, in-laws who are still racing around in super luxury SUVs and going on over seas jaunts.
We need a CONVICTION and their assets need to be seized to pay off the country’s massive national debt.

“a game that Ranil-Sira Jarapalanaya is playing with the Lankan public”
Let me say a unpopular thing, the government does not arrest or release people; it’s the business of the police and the judiciary. I don’t think, unlike the Rajapakse brothers, Sirisena-Ranil is running the police and “judicial” show.
The judiciary and the institution of justice should be totally independent and the government should have no stake in who is arrested or released. As Sirisena-Ranil have said – no hampers; no telephone calls – they are just letting the institutions of justice run their business independently.
This is Sri Lanka, and the institutions of justice and the people who run them leave a lot to be desired. Did they change instantly with the change of government? Don’t think so.

Sirisena-Ranil may not be running the day to day business, but surely they are the two big bosses that are responsible for the shoddy performance of their appointee. If the appointee is the ‘Servant of the Victors’, then it explains the back pedaling in law enforcement, as he is known to be a Jarapassa plant, the receiver of backhanders from Avantgard, and the protector of all wrong doers of the former regime. Everybody thinks that Ranil too is a key protector of Jarapassa, vide their deal at the dawn Jan 9th 2015.

His legacy to the people of Colombo will be the underground pedestrian tunnel he built across Havelock Road near the old Wellawatte Weaving Mills . It took several years to complete , and God knows how many hundreds of millions it cost the poor tax payer . Remains unused to date . What a colossal waste of public funds ?

Yes, and to be released like a mega star! Now yahapalanaya and FCID sucks, all working together with the rogues. The carnival moves on and entertainments galore until the next election. Voters would have no choice between the the Blues and Greens: why not try out the JVP or the TNA? Nothing much else to lose really!
/

VOTERS IN the world in GENERAL WOULD KNOW IT,
but the saddest reality is that the voters from srilanka – regardless of where they come from – have proved repeatedly, they just become intoxicated once the rice packets or anything like them are offered to them. Examples: see the election results fo last two elections.
MEANING: Lanken voters are NOTHING but similar to grass eaters (alone how over 300 000 voters from WESTERN PROVINCE abused their votes electing Gonthadipila and Buruwanse)

Dear Thrishu
Just because we changed parties, we did not change the turds,
New turds do exactly what old turds used to do, Siphoning public money!
Did you read the list of new turds who use the air force choppers without paying?
You must be brain dead to expect a political miracle from Sri Lanka!

what matters is the frequency of doing abuses or not ?
This issue being discussed is not related to curret handling.
So please avoid attack the current men.
Srilanka btw is a highly corrupted nation – just second to Pakistanies.
If they would want to sell their mothers to get sums, they would do it but leaving you BUDUSARNAI…… such a folks they have now turned out to be. Sad but the truth.

JVP and TNA? Of course we should give them a chance to become the next set of State asset strippers and mega rogues. They are Sri Lankan politicians of Sri Lankan blood, nah, so the nature is in their DNA. Just observe Comrade Buruwansa’s performance when he was wielding power and handling mega bucks: Formerly a king pin of JVP and now another form of pseudo JVP. he has set a prime example of how patriotic, “wiplawakaari” (revolutionary) champions of the poor and underdog should behave when handling government assets. Fowzie follows, what if their bosses could do it too.
PS: Readers….. Remember the painted slogans displayed in Sri Lankan Railways (formerly CGR) train carriages. Translation > ‘This is a National Asset, so protect it like your life’ or something to that effect. People read it carefully, then stripped components (fans, lights, fittings, even toilets, benches, doors and windows) and took them home …… I am sure to protect them like their life. All our politicians, including Comrade Buruwansa and Comrade Fowzie were just following the precedence. LOL…… this is Sri Lanka, the land of the rogue that climbed the KITULA (palmyra tree).

Misusing a vehicle!
Is this all we can find of a character who really benefitted from the Jarapassa regime? Something is wrong somewhere.

He started virtually penniless as a Minister when CBK took over in the mid-19905 and then became a multi-billionaire. How???? If one takes a stock of the real-estate he owns in the country it will be clear he can easily be jailed for amassing wealth far beyond his known income.
Much of his filthy lucre is through drugs – where his son is also a leading activist in the Colombo underworld.
But here he is charged for a very minor offence.

Catch the sharks men, the people who have played out billions and then go for these 1.7 millions sprats who have misused Govt vehicles. What a waste of tax payers monies. Next we will have to pressure the Govt to haul in you guys who are squandering time , money ,and energy, in puerile adventures and NOT doing YOUR job properly.

I suggest you think before you spread false information. You become no better than the politicians you despise.

” Nothing to his name ” does not mean anything . Very few politicians have anything in their own names . Are you a relative ?

Hasna,
I know the man’s past and present. Having different properties in different names is nothing new in Sri Lanka. Look at the number of
Cases filed against the Rajapakses. Almost everyone who matters in Colombo know how these new rich politicians became suddenly fabulously wealthy. Only if we had the earlier system of laws and governance.

Why only Fowzie, Why not Rajtha, Why not Kabir, Why not that dude who manhandled the Tamil Magistrate in Mannar.
Anyway this misdeed of Fowzie cost Tax Payers only 1.7 Million even with the inflated charge of the F****CID.
UNP Pin Up Boy young Senasinghe collected LKR 35 Million by selling his car permit.
Isn’t that a bigger loss to the Yahapalana Tax payers?
Do I need to mention the LKR 5000 Million which Yahapalana suckers forked out to Singapore Mahendran and SIL for just 12 months ?..
