Monks, Laymen In Sri Lanka Protest Erecting Mosque, Hindu Temple Inside Buddhist Sacred Zone
Thousands of Buddhist monks and lay supporters have protested the construction of a mosque and a Hindu temple built within the area designated as a Buddhist sacred zone in Dambulla.
Talibanisation of Buddhism. In an era where dialog can resolve issues, this type of primitive acts by the so called saffron robed gundas are nothing but provoking adverse propaganda against Sri Lanka. These are the Great Patriots who consider us as Traitors to this country.

If Sri Lanka multireligious and multiethnic the GoSL should prevent and protect people from such riots or attacks

Yes, are not “Buddhism” and “Sinhala Buddhism” quite different from each other?

WOW – look at the nature of the conversation between the Tamil girl and the Chief Monk in the second visual! See his body language and the choice of words.
Look at the tone of the Monk in the maroon robe. Long live Mahinda Chinthana.

Buddhism is a big business for many and price is set by the sanga. Poor people pay the price uncontested.

This Dambulle, Inamaluwa High Priest is a controversial character. When Aitken Spence Co. was to build Kandalama Hotel then, he kicked up a devil of a row taking up environmental issues and got nuns from Wahacotte and the Mullas from Dambulla to line up for protest. The real reason was that Innamaluwe was not happy that Aitken Spence did not accept an offer of Temple land for which this priest cound have made a fast buck. So he was very concerned about the envioronment. Premadasa was an equal match for him and the issue fizzled out. Kandalama Hotel accused being an Envioronment threat, later won an award of excellance for preserving the Envioronment.
Today the very Mullas, from whom he sought support then, are being kicked out by him from Dambulla. What gratitude people have, of all him being a Buddhist Priest? The Sasana should be purged off these characters and as late EW Adikaram once said, that as a first step to cleanse Buddhist Order, should ORDAIN all the priest first and weed out the Cheevarayas.

This morning a meeting was convened at the Ministry of Lands attended by the lands Minister, Buddhasasana Minister, Divisional Secretary and a whole lot of Officers from the UDA, Divisional Secretariat etc. At this meeting the plans of the sacred area has been studied and found that this Mosque is completely out side the sacred area. Now it is interesting to this Inamaluwe (A)seelaratne has to say tarnishing the image of the Buddhists of this country sending them up the gum tree.

When the Authorities declared this as the Sacred Zone did not they know these places – Mosque, Hindu Temple etc. – are already existing? Very funny. This is like a father disowning the children after divorcing the wife! All religions are sacred and existence of places of worship of any religion does not desecrate the sacredness of the area. Conversely, it is the activities of people under cover of sacredness that desecrate the area!!!!

Ever since Sri Lanka got independence these buddhist monks were the stumbling blocks for country’s progress. They preach peace and refrain from greed and jealoursy and they are doing the exact thing. They don’t understand that God decides everything. Hope they remember Tsunami and who helped Sri Lanka. With their extremest ideology, they will loose their respect. Their self centered and the supreme ideoloy could bring down the whole country. They should be taught communal harmony and to stay away from politics.

@ Nalin you have said a mouthful. This country after Independence have been ruined by the Buddhist Clergy ably supported by the Pseudo Nationalist minded Sinhalese to climb the social ladder to the top and deny others what is rightfully theirs. These Humbugs starting from Sevala Banda, Phillip Gunawardene and the fake (Capitalist)Communists like NM, Colvin, Pieter Kennemun et al were responsible for sowing discord among a nation of multi cultural and multi religious society that cohabited peacefully were torn assunder. See what has happened in China where under these benevolent Socialist characters the Money and the Murder Scandal that is unfolding now, after the demise of the Big rogue Mao. These Communist leaders would have amassed public wealth for themselves for a long time and not that they did so after Mao’s death. I saw one pundit trying to display in this blog, his knowledge about Chinese affairs by trying to project Mao as a decent leader when I compared him to none other than another Humbug and Rogue as MR.
