MR-MS Talks: Maithripala Shoots Down Mahinda’s Prime Ministerial Hopes

President Maithripala Sirisena shot down the Prime Ministerial dreams of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa when he said that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) would not nominate a Prime Ministerial candidate before the next election.

Maithripala Mahinda talks May 06 2015Turning down the request made by pro-MR faction to name the Prime Ministerial candidate of the party, Sirisena said such a measure would be disadvantageous to the party at the election. The President’s swift response indicated that he had no intention to accommodate the former President at the next election as the PM candidate of the party.

The discussion between the two groups was based on five major issues including the party’s stance on the PM candidate, the dissolution of local government bodies, the future of the United People’s Freedom Alliance, ongoing investigations into bribery and corruption allegations and giving nominations to MPs supporting former President Rajapaksa.

In a statement issued following the meeting, SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said discussions between Sirisena and Rajapaksa were cordial.

This scumbag Mahinda knows what he did to the country and to so many people. The thought of all his evil coming back haunting is sending him shivers down the garbage spine. So, he tries all his luck (which is almost exhausted now) to park himself somewhere in the corner of the Parliament with a fair amount of power and privileges to save his innocent victim’s blood coated thick skin.

    He can’t sleep….that’s his problem.

      Dear President Maithripala Sirisena

“President Maithripala Sirisena shot down the Prime Ministerial dreams of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa when he said that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) would not nominate a Prime Ministerial candidate before the next election.”

6.2 Million Sri Lankans did not vote for you to nominate the Liar, Crook, Robber, Criminal and Scum bag to be Prime Minister.

Please tell the Liar, Crook, Robber, Criminal and Scum bag to form his own party, and ask the voters, the Modayas, Mootals and Fools who voted for Mahinda Rajapaksa, that if he is elected, he will become the Prime Minister.

There is no room in the SLFP for a Liar, Crook, Robber, Criminal and Scum bag to be Prime Minster.

Dear Honorable Mr President Maitripala Sirisena,

Some News: “According to some of the people we’ve been working with, they feel that the assets that have been siphoned off from this country by the Rajapaksa family at large may amount to 18 billion dollars” says the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mangala Samaraweera.”

        https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/rajapaksas-siphon-off-18-billion-dollars-foreign-minister-mangala-samaraweera/

Amarasiri and the People want to reiterate, again, that 6.2 Million Sri Lankans did not vote for you and the Common Candidate Team to re-nominate the Liar, Crook, Robber, Criminal and Scum bag to be Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister and his cronies to be Ministers again!

The 5.7 million who voted for him, did not really vote for him. Most of them were confused and voted for SLFP based on the lies and deception carried out by Mahinda Rajapaksa, Liar, Crook, Robber, Criminal and Scum bag.

So, for Heaven’s sake, Buddha’s sake, God’s sake, Allah’s sake. Jehovah’s sake, Brahma’s sake and the 330 million God’s sake, please do not give any SLFP nominations to these Liars, Crooks, Robbers, Criminals and Scum bags.

Thank you in advance, Honorable Mr. President Maitripala Sirisena.

Telling something palatable and doing the other way around has been the nature of MR. This though not grasped by majority village folks- voters got cheated by that nature should have to change to give this land a new spirit. Even on the picture meeting with current Prez MY3, as I feel, MR is acting as if he is one of the popular actors in HIndi films. The great man who sacrificed his life representing the educated community of the country – MY3 behaves authentic. Anyway, you would never be able to deceive the very same folks on a repeated mode. I have no doubt – among those 5.8 Mio voters supported MR in the last election – change their views sooner than later.

MR can only be comparable to that of former Prez Premadasa. Remember the way how he blindfolded village folks by bringing grand big shows like Gamudawa. It was all because to cheat them for their votes. However, the small houses built and donated tothe poor was a great thing – good is always stay as good regardless of leader’s numerous corrupted and abusive nature. Latter is valid for MR or any other previous Prezs.

The days Meeharaka could twist the mindsets of the masses are turning to the days the people have to rethink before voting for anyone on the next election. I thought our people are really stupid the way they had been just ignoring all the abusive culture introduced by MR and thugs during the last 10 years. But their support given to MY3 changed the mode and gave a new face to the country/and nation. I think …. MY3 will lead us to a civilized nation. Yesterecay while flying back to Italy from Switzerland, I felt, how humble some European MPs/Ministers have been. Some of them dont fly in first class even if they are given all the chances to do so.
But the man who strengthened the hand of thugs of the country – MR, abused lanken carrier thinking as if it was his own taxi service. This was the reason -sIRLANKEN has been fallen to the level – whoever, whatever being explained those sums went missing should be investigated – more than important.

What we need is not a rejected dictator as a PM candidate to haunt this traumatized nation. Once again.

What we need is a vibrant democracy with independent, highly professional institutions. With water proof evidence & courage of conviction to raid defeated dictator’s hideaway in Hambantota. And put them in the dock.

      That is what we need.

      Cheers!

PS: Please spare the country of these much despised meetings with people who abused this country’s highest offices beyond recognition.

First of all Ranil and all other politicians have to stop looking after each other on the expense of voters to be stopped. All these years Tamil and Singhalese politicians fooled voters. They act in public they are enemies and after dusk they meet at pubs and enjoy like friends. The modia voters are the losers. Who is MR now, what is the difference between him and ordinary person. Why Mithiri have to respect him. After all he is a killer of 1.5 million Tamils. Today or tomorrow he has to answer for that crime. Tamils are innocent but not fools.

Most of us will say, THANK YOU, MR. PRESIDENT FOR YOUR DIRECT AND DECISSIVE action. We would go on to say, do NOT nominate anyone of these former SLFP thugs. We have had enough of their selfish, arrogant attitudes. Also, nominate only those from good educational and family background, and those with no family connections to anyone else aspiring to be elected. Also, let us see their audited Net Value Statement along with their tax certificates.

MR’s main worry is the ongoing investigations into bribery, corruption and misappropriation of national assets during his tenure.
He hopes to block these by becoming prime minister.

May I repeat the response made to the Previous article in CT on this subject.

It was reported that Mahinada Rajapaksa had historically used and sacrificed others to establish his authority in the SLFP as follows:-

    1. In early 2000 MR facilitated the former SLFP heavyweight Ministers like SB Dissanayake, GL Peiris etc. to join UNP. However after weakening the position of President Chandrika he remained in the SLFP as a savior.

    2. Earlier in 1980s MR backed heavyweight SLFPers Anura, Maitree Senanayake and others to break away from the Mrs B faction. After weakening the position of Mrs B, MR remained in the SLFP as a savior.

The present sequence of events appear strikingly similar. He now use people such as Dinesh, Wimal, Prasanna, Dullas, Premajayantha etc to destabilize the authority of President Sirisena in the SLFP/UPFA and then remain as the saviors of the SLFP.

MR would have realized after President Sirisena managed to obtain 212 votes to pass the 19A (without the assistance from MR) that the maneuvering used with Chandrika & Ms B cannot be used with President Sirisena and thus the change of heart to meet the President (whom he didn’t want to meet a month ago.

SLFPers should realize that the current destabilization of the SLFP is happening at the very instigation of Mahinda Rajapaksa and if he stop this process, SLFP will be more popular under President Sirisena than under MR.

    May 6, 2015, 10:01 pm

“A crucial discussion between former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and incumbent Mathripala Sirisena yesterday on five issues including fielding former as the SLFP Prime Ministerial candidate at the forthcoming general election ended with both sides agreeing to refer them to the SLFP Central Committee for approval.”

The President has publicly stated that if he was defeated he and his family would have been six feet under. If he entertains such fears then it begs the question as to why he would discuss any matter with M.R. The discussion is supposed to have been about party activities but one of the matters had been regarding the local councils not to be dissolved after their period ends on may 15th,this is not a party matter of the SLFP but concerns all political parties and the general public. This is crucial for M.R. as the members of the local council are his thug brigade that supports him.Yet another matter is calling for the termination of the special unit that has been set up to investigate financial frauds as this exposes the rogue king and his clan.Rev Sobitha and the civil society which helped to bring the President to power should ensure that the President keeps to his Yahapalanaya promises and dissolve Parliament and obtain a fresh mandate.

The meeting is beneficial because it takes the venom out of MoRons fangs. Two it shows that My3 is in charge and is not afraid of MoRon the rogue. Three, it brings out what MoRon camp is thinking, openly, and between the lines that they utter, exposes what their hidden agenda is. If MoRon did not get what he was anticipating, like mercy for the roguish family and fellow robbers, or getting himself a niche in Parliament from where he could plot and undermine the government, then great. But I am not sure if the news is accurate though; there is so much gossip and people making up misinformation

It’s good that MS put MR in the right place, where he belongs….This moron, even after losing an election which he contested for the 3rd term illegally has the nerve to meet MS begging in a way for the Prime Ministerial candidature…. seems he was absorbed so much with power, that he CANNOT live a life in retirement and wanting to be the leader of the country until he dies. Probably wanting a state funeral and a few days of mourning… This humbug should be sent to jail for ALL the atrocities that he committed, while in office..

MS should have not met this bafoon, but made things clear to MR via his cronies…knowing that his shelf life is long gone… four months and counting…

Now MS should take care and forget about Gandhisim as this loser would try to harm him. He should bring in a mechanism to have ALL the wrong doers of the last regime to be taken to courts and then jailed. He also should make it law that once someone is found guilty of crimes, they are ineligible to hold ANY public office…

Let them all rot in hell…

The audacity of Rajapakse to ask for the nomination beggars belief. Why would any sane person nominate someone who has a myriad criminal charges hanging over his head? Beginning from ‘Helping Hambantota’ and continuing through all the scams (read Mattala Airport, Hambantota Port, Hambantota Cricket stadium, etc., etc.) and rip-offs (read commissions on the humungously costly highways), not to mention the bribery and corruption.

What is worse is that so many ‘hangers-on’ support him. No prizes for guessing why!

The man belongs in jail and certainly not in Parliament.

The question is who will have the last laugh.Emotional outbursts echoed
through out this column in favour of the President, on shooting down MR’s hopes of becoming the PM and no one paused for a moment to analyse
the situation. If MR. decides to contest, he is sure to win a seat and
SLFP will undoubtedly get more seats than UNP and the majority, after
discussion with the President, will go for MR as the 1st choice for premier ship, and if the president decides to appoint another MP ,he could do so but he cannot deny ministry ship to MR, as he is senior in
the party and the PM becomes a puppet with MR around in the cabinet,
unless the president has, up his sleeves something that past presidents
cannot accept political power. It may be even difficult to deny nomination. There will be cue and cry if the govt. deviates from democratic path of choosing the PM and the Cabinet.MR’s immediate task will be to save his siblings and close contacts under investigation for corruption and nepotism and power will creep in slowly as MR is a master at it and he will not rest until power returns to the dynasty and his plans are long term plans. So folks, be prepared to go back to square one. This is all due to muddling the whole process by the present govt.by not working on priorities. Positions does not matter to MR as long as he gets some grip on the functioning of the govt. These uncalled for meetings build more enmity than unity, which the president does not seem to realise as he himself will have to solve the pressing problems, coming out of it.

Lanka Watch – Interesting view and entirely plausible.

What I wonder is why anyone with charges hanging over his/her head should be nominated in the first place? Anyone who is being investigated for criminal activities (with evidence presented to the Bribery Commission or any other legal entity) should be disqualified in participating as candidates – at least until they have been cleared of the crimes they have been accused of.

After all the horrendous acts of bribery and corruption under the last regime, who in one’s right mind will want a repeat performance?

    • 2
      0

      Lanka Watch,

The scenario you envisage is based on the assumption that an MR-led UPFa will get more votes and the majority of seats. I do not think so. He may win a seat in Hambantota or near by, but he will be burden for the group he is involved with. He and his band of bandits have been exposed since last election and it has touched a raw nerve, among the decent who are yet a majority in this country. The 18 billion loot reported today will arouse the disgust of the people further.

Present indications are that it is going to be. to be an easy win for the Sirisena- Wickrrnasinghe led grouping.

      Dr.RN

      • 1
        0

Dr. RN – Sirisena/Wicks victory is only possible in a three party contest I.e. SLFP under Mr.Sirisena, UFPA under MR with Wimal,Vasu
Dinesh Dallas and Gam….. spoiling the soup for MR and UNP under Ranil and there should be an electoral agreement signed between UNP & SLFP on seat sharing before nominations are finalized by both parties. Ranil should give into this as whatever he things right, does not always materialize, as a third party can creep in when two strong parties, with different policies, fighting against each other. On the other hand, coalition of the willing will be well suited for our country as a national govt. with all parties participating, is the need of the hour as It will be an enormous task to bring back democracy into the political stream after nearly 40 years of misrule, since the introduction of executive presidency rule and last decade, being the worst

This is why people are warning the president to keep away from these meetings so that he can nominate the deserving and uncorrupt
politicians in the SLFP and the left overs can join MR, thereby,
the people have an easy choice to elect a government to continue
the good work, being done now. This will see to the end of corrupt
politicians. Vasu & Tissa Vithanage should join MS as they are seasoned and knowledgeable politicians but if they do not want to join, let them go their own way.

It is very clear seeing the people who did attend this meeting that Maitripala Sirisena does not trust all SLFP MPs other than the handful of SLFPers who came out with him namely Rajitha, Duminda etc. This is why he kept these guys around him as a precautionary measure. What people can not understand is the purpose of this meeting in the first place under this insecure environment. MS was elected by the people to eradicate corruption and bring in the 19th amendment. Now that he has achieved the 19th amendment he need to go for general elections to elect honest MPs to the parliament. To do this he should get rid of almost all the present Rogue SLFP MPs. We do not know whether he will have to drop some who came out with him as well. He should not have made people like Nimal Lansa, a notorious guy, a chief organiser of an electorate. Sirisena need to select people carefully.

The photographs from this meeting are quite edifying. MR has shrunk and his ego seems to have been significantly deflated. He has lost his much cultivated verve. The ‘ Kurakkan Sathakaya’ as worn by the present MR, looks ridiculous in the presence of the simply attired President Sirisena. It no longer carries the symbolism of the ‘Brand Logo’, that was used to market the family. It now symbolises everything fhat was wrong in the years of their mix-rule. It is only four months since the change in government, but it feels it was much longer. It is time the family discarded the ‘ Kurakkan Sathakaya’. Incidentally, even the ‘Blue Sathakaya’ worn by someone in the group, makes the person look ridiculous.

Further, I am an independent citizen and have a right to judge politicians according to their performance. Hope can turn to disgust with time. I had initially hoped on the basis of my interactions with him in his first term and on how things were handled towards the end of the war, that he may be different. I also experienced his duplicity in terms of what he says and does with the passage of time. His second term was what turned me off and led to the disgust.

I would yet say what I said with regard to that period, then.

        Dr.RN

Dr. R.N – On the lighter note, must say that I have seen the video
clip and from the body language, it is noticed that Dr. Rajitha and
few others on MS side, looked bewildered and subdued on meeting MR.
MR also wore trousers instead of his national dress to insult the president and the party at a semi official meeting. MS deserves this as people politely warned him to keep away from these meetings and keep his respect.
As far as politics is concerned in Sri Lanka, MR is a retired President and should be out of active politics. If he is a party advisor, MS should meet him on one on one basis, sans publicity.

Did Mahinda plant Sira to get the West and their Ally the Diaspora off the former’s back?.

Look at the body language of the two former mates who are the oldest and the longest serving SLFP stalwarts, who kept the unelected PM Ranil in the wilderness for two decades.

Sira addressed the Tri Forces yesterday and promised to beef up the country’s defences to the max.

What did he mean . when the Tri Forces had not only got rid of Ranil’s mate Prabakara , but also manged to keep away Prabakaran’s overseas mates as well.

Has the President detected some loop holes now which Ranil and his Nephew might use.

And most of all, the unelected PM who is now grooming himself to the Executive PM role of the Federal Govt Of Srilanka didnt get an invite to sit with the Tri Forces , let alone addressing them.

MR the Alibaba and his gang of thieves do not deserve even to kneel in front of Maithri.

How Maithripala Sirisena with family hid in a coconut estate owned by Kiran Atapattu in Dodangaslanda on election night to escape possible harm. President Sirisena told the BBC Sandeshaya that if he lost the election, there was a plan to imprison his whole family and destroy them. Not only Maithri but there were so many who rallied around Maithri for presidential election risking their lives.

Listen closely about the 17th minute….

Great my Brother. This is what went through my head while reading those comments of indifferent folks and their representatives.

What those men so called spiritual leaders have failed to do the least what MY3 has achieved in the last 100 days plus.

Why people use Mahinda to address Mahendra Percy Rajapakse. He is not Mahinda but MAHENDRA, so better call him as Percy mahaththeya or Mr. Percy.

From the beginning, he is a cunning crook cheated the whole nation by changing his own name.

Is Mithiri is still afraid that if MR come back he will take revenge on him. Do not worry – do not go even one step back. Instead play the card right. Please do not show sympathy on this snake, if you do not kill now it will bite you later. There are many ways to put him down. (1)Take corruption in hand and remove all its teeth.(2)Allow UN to take action about crime during war – they will lock him until die.(3)First remove or lock-up all his supporters who are just making noise in the parliament hiding behind sari. (4)Make his enemy Sarath Fonseka your friend and attack him through him. There are many ways to silence that Modia.

The greatest trick the devil pulled was to trick people into believing that he didn’t exist. Similarly, Mahinda tricked the rural mass into thinking that plunder of public funds is real leadership.

    Dear President

Please remove Arjuna Mahendran immediately. It is causing more damage to ur government and providing material for MR and GL Peiris to attack the government.

Nanny G L peiris has now become the main henchman of MR.

Hw will come out with various theories to continue the disgraceful dialogue with MR and his cronies.
