Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa today said he would contest the upcoming general election.
Addressing a gathering at his hometown Medamulana he said “People’s requests asking me to contest cannot be ignored”. Rajapaksa however did not say under which political party he will be contesting but he urged representatives of other political parties to rally around him as they did in 2005.
Since the January defeat, SLFP Snubs, Wimal Weerawansa, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Udaya Gammanpila and Dinesh Gunawardena have been campaigning for Rajapaksa and said that their intention is filing former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Ministerial candidate at the upcoming general elections.

Despite widespread speculations, none of the heavyweights of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party attended the meeting in Medamulana which marked former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s entry into the electoral fray.
Pro-Rajapaksa camp expected Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva, UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha and SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa to attend the meeting, showing their support to the former President. However, none of them was present at the meeting, much to the disappointment of Rajapaksa and his group.
Although it was stated that over 100 SLFP MPs would attend the meeting, the total number of MPs who were present at the Medamulana residence of the former President was much less.
Among those who participated in the meeting were former Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva and Lanka Sama Samaja Party Leader Prof. Tissa Vitarana.
During the meeting, the President did not disclose whether he would contest from the SLFP. He repeatedly mentioned the names of party leaders who supported him following his defeat at the Presidential election in January. The former President extended his gratitude to Wimal Weerawansa, Vasudewa Nanayyakkara, Dinesh, Gunawardena, Udaya Gammanpila and other SLFP Parliamentarians who campaigned for him for the past six months.
Rajapaksa, in his speech, gave several indications that he might contest separately at the Parliamentary election with the support of several UPFA parties and a group of SLFP MPs.

Mahinda Rajapakse seems to have still not realized that he has cheated himself by transporting the same crowd in buses to every venue . Apparently , Mahinda has still not learnt a lesson even after these devastating and humiliating experiences , Maithripala added. All what he (president) can do is feel sorry for Mahinda’s folly , however no evil can be allowed to befall the country after taking them into the fold ,and that he cannot experiment, the president emphasized.
The leaders who are the stooges of Mahinda ,after receiving a firm and decisive answer from the president , having nothing to say or think , ultimately said following the unsuccessful discussion, they would announce their final decision tomorrow.
Going by the stern stance taken by the president , not only Mahinda Rajapakse who divided and devastated the SLFP, but even Namal Rajapakse will not be granted nominations .
Interestingly , Mahinda Rajapakse who won 144 seats at the 2010 presidential elections , went to Medamulana yesterday with high hopes to play havoc again, but with only 18 M.P.s . This bears clear testimony that a vast majority has accepted Maithripala’s leadership and his official team.

But what Sarath said was that he now realises that MaRa diddled “Tsunami Funds” and should have been put away. He’s somersaulted again!
MaRa, you still have support, nobody ever doubted that; but your standing has been eclipsed by that of the clean but shrewd Maithri. Of course, you will damage the chances of the SLFP, and Ranil’s not-so-clean UNP will emerge as the largest single party.

Can you tell us why you did that – were you just gullible or was there something more to it?
If you did not say these things, deny them and I will be happy to provide detail references.

I have considered that, but decided it was only the second-best solution. There was another commentator who made a similar suggestion asking Rajasingham to re-publish or provide links to what he actually wrote and therby vindicate himself, but Rajasingam curtly responded “it is all so easy for you to check if you know how to use Google”.
That to me confirms my suspicion that Rajasingam actually has access to what he wrote (despite his playing the “reference please” card), he knows my allegations are well founded, but he believes that I do not for some reason have access to those archives. I would like him to continue that belief and pursue these slime-ball evasion tactics.
You may have read that when, in the early days of the scandal, a reporter asked Clinton “Did you have an affair with Ms. Lewinsky”, Clinton tried a similar slime-ball evasion asking back “Can you define what you mean by ‘did’?!” However, Clinton wised up pretty fast and confessed, because he realized the shelf-life of those nonsensical responses are just momentary, but could turn destructive in the longer-term.
So, to your question, as long as Rajasingam defers responding objectively, and instead resorts to covert means to hide his shame, including the comical manifestations of Rasiah, Rajesh (not Rajash), Yakkadaya, Raghavaan, Nirmlaan, whatever, that only gives me more space and time to keep Rajasingham in the stew! It is not in my interest to bring that to a boil too early.

Rajasingam wrote a whole article explaining to all of us, the lesser mortals, on the merits of the precious three words “I am sorry”. At the end of the war your military commander decided to compete for Presidency. Once he lost, you arrested him and put him on a jail. A great leader would have forgiven even if he committed crime. This was his first political robbery apart from what he made as the Minister of Fisheries. 3. Let all the ministers of his cabinet to rob at their will, hence he could blackmail them. He turned a blind eye when his Prime Minister imported Drugs and few members of his cabinet importing illegal ethanol and drugs. 4. Alienated the country towards China resulting in India developing bitterness with Sri Lanka. 5. Obtained loans from China at rates higher than Libor (London Interbank Offered Rate) to earn commissions. These commissions in billions were routed to Swiss bank accounts via Seychelles, where MR opened a branch of Bank of Ceylon and also an Embassy in a country where only 92000 thousand people live. From the day “Nugegoda Drama” unfolded, I was trying to study this man Mr. MR and the “Gang” associated with it. Reading through various collections I have, the following gave me a very interesting insight to what it looks like. With that material in hand, I have concluded that this Mr. MR and the “Gang” (please see the picture in the article)are some notorious “PSYCHOPATHS” playing with the lives of the people. Some excerpts are:- “Psychopaths are rational and quite aware of the difference between right and wrong. Typically, psychopaths are charming, self interested, glib and impulsive individuals. They often brag about grandiose life ambitions but utterly lack the skills or discipline to achieve any of their goals. Psychopaths are easily bored and crave immediate self-gratification. When caught in a lie, they quickly switch topics or shift blame with no apparent embarrassment. They do not form deep or meaningful attachments and often end up hurting people who get close to them. While they are intellectually aware of society’s rules, they feel no guilt when they break them. In fact, many psychopaths find wealth and success as highly manipulative corporate careerists, as thugs or unscrupulous politicians. Psychopaths share a profound lack of empathy and remorse for the harm they do to others. No conscience No remorse”. It further pointed out – “WE AS A SOCIETY ARE PAYING AN ENORMOUSLY HIGH COST BECAUSE OF THIS DAMAGING DISORDER”.
The above findings, as recorded in studies have definitely shed new light on the remarkable inner workings of society’s most troubled – and predatory individuals. I am of opinion that all those people in the picture together with the “Nugegoda Movement” sponsors very fittingly provide proof of the above findings. Now it is left to the people to make an assessment on August 17, 2015.

Actually he is very brave or very stupid. Some people learn by good education, others learn from experience but this man learnt nothing from the past election defeat. He still think he can fool Sinhala mass easily by saying bad things about Tamils or make them disappear. Tamils will benefit even if MR win or loose but Singhalese will definitely loose if he wins. Singhalese will not believe me , so some good educated Sinhala person explain to Sinhala mass how Tamils will benefit. There is a saying in Tamil “kedu kudi sol kelathu”.That means drawing family will not listen to others advise. People around MR are adamant to push him into a irreversible grave and MR is not prepared to listen to the advise from good people – if that is his fate, who can stop him. If I am in his position take the money and go quiet – in gambling people never do that until loose everything. All the dead Tamil’s sprits are eager to meet him to ask why he killed them.
