Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa is coming under increasing pressure from the FCID, this time over the controversial multi-million dollar Krrish deal. Namal, who was summoned to the FCID on Thursday, was interrogated for several hours where he was accused of pocketing between Rs. 70 to 100 million from the deal.
Speaking to reporters, Namal, the eldest son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said, “today they have found a new issue. First it was about a murder, then it was about money laundering, and now they are questioning me about a certain company that sponsored the Carlton rugby super sevens tournament,” he said.
He however did not explicitly mention the FCID grilled him over the Krrish deal. “They didn’t even know the exact amount; they asked if I had taken money, somewhere between 70 to 100 million. I told them I never did any such thing,” he added.
The US$ 650 million Krrish Tower project which was initiated during former President Rajapaksa’s period has been marred with controversy with allegations of secret payoffs to several VIPs in the country at that time.
Incidentally the drafting of the agreement was reportedly taken over by N R Associates, the legal firm owned by Namal Rajapaksa.
Before coming to power, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was very vociferous about the controversial project and the alleged corruption hovering over the project. At that time he also openly claimed that Namal Rajapaksa was to receive a commission from the deal. Wickremesinghe has however been very silent about the matter since coming to power.
In 2013, Harsha de Silva, the current deputy foreign minister and the UNP spokesman on economic affairs in a column written to the Colombo Telegraph said that it appeared as if the entire project was a hoax and that Parliament was misled both by the minister and the investor. “We demand that the massive tax breaks granted to this investor be cancelled immediately and an impartial investigation be launched in to what exactly happened. The investigation must find out who were behind this transaction and blacklist all such persons so that hereafter Parliament will not be duped by such fly-by-night operators with connections to high places,” he said.

The whole family is made up of crooks. They have siphoned all the money that should have ploughed back to improve the life of common people, the citizens that voted this scum into power. Disgrace, such a disgrace, we have not seen or heard anything of this such mega-scale of fraudulence and embezzlement taken place anywhere in the world before. This family has really made fools of those that supported them.
I just hope that if there is justice ever, then it should find these targets, otherwise we won’t even be able to place our trust on natural justice. People like RW, WR should get out of the way from blocking, and let independent courts and law enforcers deal with these parasites.

If they would not, people will get caught by Rajapakshes again. Journos still seem to be stand still to react against Rajaakshes. I dont get to read enough journalists reporting about all the mess carried out by Rajpakshes. No blunt questions have been passed to Rajaakshes.

We need flammable material, right amount of air, and right person to blow it, the fire is already simmering deep in MR’s family.

Excerpts from
One Hundred Years of Kautilya’s Arthasastra
P.K.Gautam
1.”U”- Four Upayas (4)102
The four upayas or approaches, expedient, device, ways of
realising aim or object of diplomacy exist since the period of
the epics and Dharmasastra.
The upayas are sama-dana-bheda- danda meaning conciliation, gifts, rupture and force.
Means of overcoming opposition is based on overlapping in four upayas
and six gunas.
R.P. Kangle simplifies it when he says that gunas
are concerned with foreign policy alone (see the paragraph 3 on
Sadgunya given below), but upayas have a wider application, being
useful in securing the submission of anyone.

NV and Sekera,
Is the word ‘Samadhanam’ in Tamil a combination of Sama & Dhana – meaning ‘Peaceful reconciliation’? Do we have to give gifts/bribes to bring about reconciliation? Who should be the recipients? If these fail, who should we divide and punish?
Dr.RN
/
sekara / March 20, 2016
Bribery is not much younger than private property.
You are right to say that the Upayas need not be confined to foreign policy.
Statecraft is about dealing with internal enemies and potential rivals a well. Bribery has a big role there.
I doubt the analysis of “samadhaanam” as saama + dhaana.
It is samaa rather than saama in samaadhaanam.
Kindly check the Skt spelling of Dhaana in the two contexts.
/
Dr.Rajasingham Narendran / March 20, 2016
Sekara,’
The Tamil word if phonetically spelled in English would be ‘Sammathaanam’. Thaanam in Tamil means giving.
The word Samma in Tamil is also used in the context of a meeting to discuss a topic. I was obviously not paying attentions to the phonetics, when I spelt the word in English. It was obviously an error. However, even when phonetically corrected, the meaning amounts to ‘ meeting to give’ or ‘meeting to discuss and give’.
I raised the issue to point out that the word ‘ Sammathaanam’ which means peace today, may have wider connotations than we attribute to it.
Thanks for your response.
Dr.RN
/
sekara / March 20, 2016
There is only one m in the word Samaathaanam, meaning peace. (It could be a typo.)
Sama for equal
Saama for peace
I cannot comment on the thaanam ambiguity yet.
I hope that I have helped to clarify.

Any body remember Sunday Leader female journalist ” Manadana Ismail’s house break in the wee hours of 2013 ? ” start to solve the mystery from back to front . who broke in to Mandana’s house and why ? it has been reported that Mandana had got hold of an important document of Krrish deal which was between Namal and Krrish ;thus, Namal had swiftly dispatched his murder squad to snatch the document from Mandana . here is the relevant reporting from CT itself.
https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/mandana-and-a-contract-gone-awry/
Didn’t Nalaka Godahewa ask the Krrish company to finalize all the necessary legal work with so called NR associates , didn’t Nalaka Godahewa ask Krrish to deposit US $ 3.5 Million in to Namal’s HSBC bank account in Singapore ?didn’t Harsha desilva expose this day light robbery ? remember that infamous NG’ SMS message which circulated among the elites ?
As usual this is yet another Mafia family scandals which resulted getting killed one of their criminals , best way to resolve the murder case is , check the phone details of NR and the criminals on that fateful day , this would reveal a whole lot about the actual operation.
Why Harsha keeping a deafening silence over this issue is puzzling ! honestly , i don’t know who to believe , are we the dumb asses ?

It seems the young Rajapaksas have been behind many questionable companies involved in multi million dollar deals. This alone shows that they have abused their powers, and taken advantage of their father’s position in the country. How many companies have they been involved with, how much commission have they been paid, and where is all the money stashed? They came with NOTHING. So where did all the money to invest in these businesses come from? They lived lavish lifestyles, wore designer clothing, drove luxury cars worth thousands of dollars, so again, where did the money come from? This young pup is a big crook. Even his law degree seems to be obtained under deceptive means. They cannot be trusted. Every port, building, and bridge, they built must have made them rich. It is time the present government that seems to be shielding them, did the people a big service and looked for those riches. Obviously they have stashed away their ill gotten gains in places hard to find, and hard to trace. They are cunning, and will not have these riches in places easy to find.
They should be held accountable for fleecing the country, and made into examples for others.
For what they did to us, I hope they suffer and never have any peace. These politicians and their children are
a curse to our nation. They don’t care if the cost of living is rising, and that people are finding it hard to manage, or that they cannot afford basic necessities, all they care is getting those millions to fill their pockets, and live the good life. Shame on them all.

Dr,Rajasingham Narendran / March 20, 2016
Manel,
The story of ‘Mihinair’ is interesting. It has been a burden on this country from its very inception. Why has it not been grounded yet and assets disposed to recoup losses or pay back its debts? Should there be prohibitions against Bank of Ceylon and People’s Bank lending loss making state institutions, under pressure? How are these banks declaring profits? Further, is the Lake House financially viable? I am aware that many cronies of the last government were provided a sinecure there.
The former Attorney General and his successor in an acting capacity were blamed for not prosecuting the political rogues. What is happening now? Sabotage was pronounced as a likely cause for the power failure? Now it seems that everything is wrong about the Electricity Board, despite the public being unconcienabky fleeced. The Electricity Board is the Shylock of our times!
Is this government short on talent and ability? Has it given courage to MR to claim that he can do better than this government, despite what we know he and his government did? Have our systems of public services totally failed and are now beyond repair?
It is time this government told us the truth. We have not heard the truth for decades now. I remember claims that Sri Lanka would be able to sell surplus electricity to India when the Mahaweli project was mooted. The Sirimavo government with Soviet technology, even brought up a barrel of crude oil from the Gulf of Mannar to baboozle us with the riches that await!

Krrish is not one of the frontline building companies in India. It is one of those dubious outfits that has a particular eye for venal leaders within India and in the Afro-Asian world. They probably came to the conclusion learning of the reputation of the Mahinda Rajapakse family in this regard is all too well known – within and outside the island. Many suspect Krrish’s plans were to get hold of some of the bigger crooks at the top of the Rajapakse political ladder in their thumb. Thereafter, to use the Rajapakse influences to use the liquidity of the State banks to fund the bulk of the investment. The conspiracy also includes the plan to lure unsuspecting high-end local millionaires, Corporate clients and foreigners to buy in this “fantastic project” in a 1st class location in the heart of Colombo. It is learnt Krrish has brought in less than 10% of the value of the Project so far, whereas the initial requirement was 20% within 90 days from the date of signing the Contract. If the letter of the agreement is to be applied, this deposit should have been forfeited long ago. But they know if the Rajapakses are out of power the successors will be equally vulnerable – in the established greed and thieving reputation of Lankan politicians – blue, red or green. And so, they ride on.
Once again you have been subject to shame, dear Sri Lanka – Yahapaalanya or whatever.

” no point to keep harping that MR did that and MR did this unless you take action..”
You are absolutely right, if he did not take action on these serious charges that only means one thing, Rajapakse and his associates never did such a thing and what Rajapakse keeps telling that all these are all baseless accusations with intent of revenge is true.
Soon after the Presidential elections were over Ranil Wickremesinghe after he was appointed as Prime Minister came publicly on TV making a startling revelation that Rajapakse was involved in a ‘coup of sorts’ attempting make the election results null and void having summoned chief of the security forces and Police.
May I quote one classical example which raises doubts on the honesty of Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The people were quite surprised as public felt the President had vacated his official residence before the final results was released knowing he had lost the elections and that seemed to be a magnanimous gesture and now for Ranil to come out with the story of a supposed coup attempt was very confusing. But thereafter NO action was taken. It is a real serious charge in deed for Ranil to make in his official capacity as Prime Minister and then taking no action on someone he accused of deliberate attempt to steal the rights of all the people to elect their leader makes serious doubts on the very honesty of Ranil. Looks as if Rajapakse was right all along that it was a dirty attempt to discredit him and take political revenge on something he never did or thought of doing.
I still cannot understand, had if these serious allegation was made by an ordinary citizen like you and me we would have charged in courts and would have ended paying millions in damages and a compulsory jail sentence. I would never dare to accuse anyone unless I have a all the evidence before me and prepared to take it all the way through.
