Muslim Shoora Council To Deal With Rising Hate Campaign

For the first time most Muslim religious, social and cultural organizations and individuals buried their differences and formed a National Shoora Council NSC, on 25 January 2014 to deal with to deal with burning issues faced by the community.

The NSC, consultative council, which has been under discussions for more than a year also elected in its inaugural session last Saturday a permanent general assembly and an executive committee.

Tariq Mahmud, son of late Muslim leader Al Haj Dr Badiuddin Mahmud, who functioned as interim working committee chairman, was unanimously elected as permanent chairman of NSC.

Response to NSC from Muslims of all walks of life and from all corners of the island has been spontaneous as it comes into being at a time when the community is passing through, perhaps, the most difficult time since the Portuguese persecution of Muslims in the 16th and first half of 17th centuries.

During the past few years the island’s Muslim community has been subjected to numerous political, religious, economic, social and other problems threatening their very existence as citizens of this country.

Muslims, who suffered immensely due to the war between the armed forces and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam, the LTTE, expected some relief in the aftermath of the defeat of the LTTE in May 2009.

However their hopes were dashed. Instead of relief and rehabilitation they came under attacks from organizations unheard of during the three decades of war, claiming to be Buddhist but in total violation of Buddhist teachings. A small number of ethno religious fascists began unleashing a fierce anti-Muslim campaign aimed at pitting the mainstream Sinhalese against peaceful Muslim community.

According to the local media last year alone there were around 250 incidents of hate all over the island striking at the very root of the fundamental rights of the island’s Muslim community.  Such dastardly crimes were unheard of even during the ethnic carnage.

What is shocking is the failure on the part of the government to bring to book these lawless elements. In fact some of these crimes were committed under the watchful eyes of the police. This shows that these lawless racist elements have official blessings.

Within almost two and half years they had done considerable damage to  put the Sinhalese against Muslims- to an extent that children refused to purchase from Muslim owned shop. This trend needs to be arrested in the larger interest of all in the country which has just emerged from a destructive war.

Under the circumstance the beleaguered and besieged Muslim community expected their politicians to raise these issues with the government of which most of them remain constituent partners and stop this anti Muslim mayhem. Unfortunately they betrayed the community and opted to cling onto the government, despite all humiliations, to ensure their positions and perks. Today Muslim politicians have become shameful liabilities on the community at a time when even the Muslims’ feeble protests were being brushed aside.

It was in this gloomy, helpless and voiceless atmosphere that a group of enterprising   young Muslims belonging to diverse professions and committed to the welfare of the community and the country met around   January 2013 to discuss what could be done to safeguard the community and arrest the deteriorating traditionally harmonious relations between the Sinhalese and Muslim communities.

The group held its first meeting in one platform under one roof at Wellawatta Miami Reception Hall on Thursday 2 May 2013 to announce the formation of an Interim Consultative (Shoora) Council-ICC.  On Saturday 25 January the general assembly held its inaugural meeting and elected   both a permanent executive committee.

The characteristics of the NSC will be inclusive and participatory, widely representative, consultative and able to make decisions binding all.

As part of its overall agenda the NSC will be concerned about any threat to communal harmony   by local  and international forces and extremists from all communities  besides doing everything possible to ensure peace and harmony in the island.

It should be kept in mind that the so called problems for the muslims are due to their continuing embrace of hitherto unknown Arabic culture/dress etc during last 02 decades ?? If continues unabated just expect negative reactions for ever. Reap what you sow !

Ebrace unknown Arabic culture is an excuse to attack the Muslims since they couldnt find valid reasons. Muslims follow their traditions. In that case how about the Buddhist Sinhalese embrace the western way of clothing themselves? Even the Monks have changed their atire, such as no clean shaven head, wearing footwear, no more Paththara, No more walking but morden cars etc. Mahinda is creating this artificial tension to keep people busy from burning issues and at the same time to win hardline Sinhala Buddhists hearts and minds. He is the least educated worst ever leader came to power. He has no foresight or intensity. Basically Mahinda is megalimaniac nutcase. He is having a hollow big head. Since he cannot touch the Tamils again with Sambanthan, sumanthiran and Vigneshvaran around he is attacking the Cathilics and Muslims to keep those majority racist minded villege Bandas happy.

Winning the hearts and minds for the wrong reasons have historically results in huge disasters. Basically your Ruler (know him) is an actor surrounded by vultures. The difference between the poor and rich nations is not the age of the Nation. This can be demonstrated by countries like India and Egypt, which are more than 5000 years old and are still poor countries. On the other hand, Arabian Gulf countries around 90 years back were insignificant, today they are developing and considered wealthy countries. The difference between the poor and rich nation does not also depend on the available natural resources. Japan has limited territory, 80% mountainous, unsuitable for agriculture or farming, but is the second in worlds economy. The country is like an immense floating factory, importing raw material from the whole world and exporting manufactured products. Switzerland, it does not grow cocoa but produces the best chocolates in the world. In her small territory she rears animals and cultivates the land only for four month in a year, nevertheless manufactures the best milk products. A small country which is an image of security which has made it the strongest banks. Officials from rich countries who interact with their counterparts from poor countries show no significant intellectual differences. The racial or colour factors also do not evince importance: migrants heavy in laziness in their country of origin are forcefully productive in developed countries. The difference is the attitude of the people, moulded for many years by education and culture. When we analyse the conduct of the people from the rich and developed countries, it is observed that a majority abide by the following principles of life: Morals and Ethics as basic principles. Integrity. Responsibility. Respect for Law and order. Multi Culture tolerance. The love for work. The effort to save and invest ethically (Halaal). The will to be productive. Punctuality. In the poor countries a small minority follow these basic principles in their daily life. We are not poor because we lack natural resources or because nature was cruel towards us. We are poor because we lack attitude. We lack the will to follow and teach these principles of working of rich and developed societies. WE ARE IN THIS STATE BECAUSE WE WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OVER EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE. WE ARE IN THIS STATE BECAUSE WE SEE SOMETHING DONE WRONG AND SAY – “LET IT BE” WE SHOULD HAVE A SPIRITED MEMORY AND ATTITUDE ONLY THEN WILL WE BE ABLE TO CHANGE OUR PRESENT STATE. If we do not share this message nothing is going to happen. Our prized possessions will not going to vanish, we wont be sacked from our job, we wont be having bad luck for seven years, nor are we going to get sick. But, if we love our COUNTRY, Try and circulate the essence of this message so that as many people can reflect on this and CHANGE. Think about it.

JimSofty, You should read the history back to 7-14 centuries and who was inventers of mathematics theories etc. You know nothing about the history of this world. For your information Arabs are still living in the desert and eating dates too. But they are using worlds most expensive cars in the desert, and building tallest buildings in the desert which has been told 1400 years back by Prophet Muhammad.

PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS IN WHAT YOU SAY. GHANDHI MARRIED KASTURBAI WHEN SHE WAS A CHILD. MOHAMMED IS “PEDO” BUT GANDHI IS “MAHATMA” I HAVE THE GREATEST RESPECT FOR GANDIJI. WE MUSLIMS ARE ORDERED NOT TO DEGRADE LEADERS OF OTHER RELIGIONS. READ WHAT GANDHI HAD TO SAY OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD. “I wanted to know the best of the life of one who holds today an undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind… I became more than ever convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet the scrupulous regard for pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission. These and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. When I closed the second volume (of the Prophet’s biography), I was sorry there was not more for me to read of that great life.”

JimSofty Your hatred to Arabs, Islam and Muslims have no effect whatsoever to the Arabs, Muslims and Islam. Hatred bites back and destroys the soul within. Further a society drifts away from the truth, the more it will hate those who expose it.

The terms “Halal & Haram” are so common, you will find most people now carry it in their vocabulary and say “Haram” to something they don’t like or think is wrong without thinking. What do these words mean? “Halal” is an Arabic word used to describe things that are LAWFUL, “Haram” is the opposite and means UNLAWFUL. These two words are synonymous with God and can be found throughout the Quran. Both words when uttered by God are binding and irrevocable. What God has made lawful stays so, and what God has made unlawful stays so.

I love this story. Hope more people will read and take this to their heads. The big guys who govern should fallow this and lead the people. But unfortunately these guys are uneducated and only care about them selves. I don’t see any educated people taking to politics but actors, thugs so on. I don’t condemn a actor, acting is an art only few have ablity. But they are not educated to govern a country. My personal view Is the old bunch of politicians should go out and well educated guys should take over before a bigger disaster take place.

It is not the Arabic Dress. IT is how their prophet Mohammed wanted it. It is the quran and the clerics who interpret it. Muslims are there to convert and to pray for allah. See how many times they pray for allah. A minimum of five times a day. After every sentence they speak they say Allah hu akbar. In muslims’ world only the muslims live and no on else has space in that world. that is why majority muslim sects kill minority muslims. See how even minority muslim sects in Sri lanka are harassed by the majority muslim sect, sunni ?.

JimSofty, First of all i must say i pity you. the problem is not with you but the way you were brought up. If you look at those whom hate other race or religion those people have a psychological problem. for example a child could have been neglected by it’s mother by going to work for materiel gains than looking after her child at home. such children when they grow up they tend to have racist attitude in a big way because in their sub conscious mind they need to hate someone(or some race or religion) for what happened to them. No matter how much you insult or spread false stories about Islam no some with slightest of intelligence will believe you

The large amount of Arab money brought into the country by the employment of Sri Lankans, mostly Sinhala Buddhists, who cannot find jobs in their own country and all other assistance and aids that bring in large amounts of Arab money which are received with widely spread hands and opened mouths are good but anything you suspect to be Arab culture and dress is bad. What a biased thinking. Do you want the Muslims, particularly the female, to be in dresses which half shows sensitive parts of the body attracting males and even Buddhist monks subjecting the females to abuse and rape as what is regularly and in a large scale happening to Sinhalese females even inside Buddhist Temples. You are putting the blame on the Muslims for the attacks by some vultures but do not yourself ask what the Christians have done for their Churches being attacked. Is it because they are following Roman culture. Now all the Govt. big guns are queuing-up before Arab leaders to get their support to defeat the Resolution by the West at the UNHRC sessions. Are the Arabs good for these. The mindset of people like you should change and understand the true nature of the issues; if not the country will have more problems.

Dear Mr. Lateef Farook, This is a a very good move on leadership by the greater Sri Lankan Muslims, as the Buddhists and Christians have failed to address the core Problem, and the police and the politicization whose job is to keep law and order are not doing their job. You should go Global, and have a web site to promote your mission and vision. You will get your support from True Buddhists, True Christians, True Hindus, True Agnostics, True Atheists and True Unbelievers as as this is as this is a human rights isseu. My input is that keep the Wahhabi, the Salafi, The Thuheed, The Deobandi and The Taliban OUT, as they are innovations and they were not there when the Portuguese invaded in 1505 and persecuted the Muslims and the Sinhala.

Muslims are trying hard to islamize Sri Lanka. Read this: In Ampara district about 5000 acres of State Land had been illegally distributed with the direct interference of a Muslim political party. Former Provincial/District Secretary attached to Pottuvil Provincial/District council had complied about 2000 deeds and had pocketed millions of rupees by indulging in this illegal transaction. This person had completed 1200 illegal deeds in a day by placing the official seal and had allocated two acres of land to rouge recipients. Even though a Provincial/District Secretary can allocate lands only in his area, this person had distributed land in the areas coming under others’ jurisdictions too. Some of those who were allocated illegal lands are under the age of 12 years. A written complaint had been lodged in this regard at the CID by the Commissioner General of Lands. The Minister for the Lands and Land development Mr Janaka Bandara Tennekoon told Sunday Divaiana that most of the illegal land deals had been done in Thirak, Komarai, Wegamak and Dharam palai areas. In the illegal allocation of land, a licence similar to ones used by the Government when distributing land to the landless had been used

Dear Mr. Latheef Farook - “For the first time most Muslim religious, social and cultural organizations and individuals buried their differences and formed a National Shoora Council NSC, on 25 January 2014 to deal with to deal with burning issues faced by the community.” 1. Thank BBS, Booru Balu Sena, who follow Monk Mahanama Sinhala “Buddhist” Racism, as an insult to Buddha, for getting together the confused Sri Lanka Muslims. That is why there are hardly any Tamil Buddhists, whereas there are Tamil, Hindus, Tamil Christians and Tamil Muslims and any other flavor you can think of. There are even Sinhala Christians and Sinhala Muslims, who want a God and like go to Heaven, Virgins or not. 2. Having said the above, the so called “Muslim” Wahhabi are agents of the Devil, the Satan or Shaitan. They have poluted the Muslims of Sri Lanka and the rest of the World. They want to kill all the other Muslims who do not follow the Wahhabi Satan dogma, and claim that only Wahhabism is “True” Islam, funded by the Wahhabi Arabia Petro-dollars. Are there Kings and Princes and Wahhabi Mullahs in true Islam? No. 3. So, my recommendation for you and the Muslim Council is that you need to follow the Egalitarianism of Prophet Mohamed, and get rid of the the impostors, the Wahhabi,(the Salafi and the Tauheed,) because they are acting against what is revealed in the Quran, such as there is no compulsion in Religion and making women cover from head to toe and taking away of women’s rights given by the Prophet, and want to reintroduce the tribal values of 7th Century. Islam was introduced to many countries by the moderate Muslims and the Sufis, not the Tribal Wahhabi. You should know by now what is needed to be done, and your enemies are the Wahhabis, the curse of the Muslims. Those who follow the true Message of Islam are known as MUSLIMS. Wahabi, Sufi, Shia and some others are misnomers. In the Islamic history Wahabi, Sufi, Shia and some others were mere Schools of Thought. All these Schools of Thought had only a perspective or an interpretation according to their understanding. Long after the Death of these Scholars; the followers created their own version with their political masters. Some of these groups have strayed away completely from the Core Values of Islam. While some others who identify themselves by any other than Muslim, will be representing these political entities and their leaders interest to control wealth and power. Some of these leaders will tie up with the Devil. Muslims have a specific purpose in Life on earth. Most of them know it and pursue to the best of their ability. The term for those Muslim who deviate are KNOWN as THE KHAWARIJS. The basic message of Islam is the same message of all the previous prophets (peace be upon all of them) worship God alone and avoid worshipping anything besides Him, whether it is a person, place or thing, directly or indirectly. This basic principle of Monotheism is contained in the opening chapter of the Quran, known as Surah al-Fathiha, verse 4: “You alone we worship and from you alone we do seek help.” In (4:37), Allah also said: “Worship Allah and do not associate partners with Him.” The last Prophet (PBUH) is reported to have said: Anyone who says: ‘There is no god worthy of worship except Allah’ and dies holding that belief sincerely will be eventually granted paradise. Muhammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab made every effort to purify Islam by returning Muslims to the original principles of Islam, as exemplified by the Salaf (Companions of the Prophet (PBUH) First and Second Generation in Arabia) and rejecting what was regarded as corruptions introduced by Bid’ah (Innovation of new practices) and Shirk (Attributing Partners). Although all Muslims pray to one God, Muhammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab was keen on emphasising that no intercession with God was possible without God’s permission, which God only grants to whom He wills and only to benefit those whom He wills, certainly not the ones who invoke anything or anyone except Him, as these would never be forgiven. And lo! this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, so keep your duty unto Me. (The Noble Quran 22:52) But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each sect rejoicing in its tenets. (The Noble Quran 22:53) So leave them in their error till a time. (The Noble Quran 22:54)

Amarasiri You are right. Some people do relate their ancestry to the Apes and perhaps that is one of the reasons why they behave and have a mindset of an animal. Our Mind is a powerful tool. The Will is the mind force or mental assertion. When we Will something, we mentally assert it. We have the mindset that commands and demands that it must be so, and that it Will. Our Will gives power to our intention. Will is the outward projection of Spirit. The Will is choice of focus. We choose what we focus on, what we hold our attention on, and where we align our energy towards with our Will. Muslims are entrusted with Divine duty to clear misconceptions about Islam thus restricted to convey the message in line with the Noble Quran and the authentic statements of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). Guidance is only from the most merciful. Any Muslims claims a label other that of a Muslim is violating a core value of Islamic unity.

Your ref. to Youtube reference on expansion of Wahabism : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MCZ4QAV7A4 is exactly that it is a name hatched by the British. If you ask any Muslim if he knows anyone who is a Wahabi, they will be clueless. To understand who is a Wahabi, you need to watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quEpBoIS4vY or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BqQStL4P0k

Dear Marawan, “is exactly that it is a name hatched by the British. If you ask any Muslim if he knows anyone who is a Wahabi, they will be clueless. ” You are INCORRECT!. The term Wahhabi was given by the Ottoman Turks, and it stuck. It correctly describes, the current Wahhabis, and the other versions of Wahhabis, called Salafi and Tauheed and Deobandi -Taliban All Muslims know who the Wahhabi are. The deviants who follow the devil. They are like a virus, the Wahhabi Satan Virus, keep infecting the other Muslims. Wahhabis are the true agents of the Devil, the Satan. The Shoora Council, need to make statement like the Indians, about the Wahaabis-, the Agents of the Devil. Ask the Ottoman Turks. That is what they concluded. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wahhabi_movement One of their most famous and controversial attacks was on Karbala in 1802 (1217 AH). There, according to a Wahhabi chronicler `Uthman b. `Abdullah b. Bishr: [Wahhabis] scaled the walls, entered the city … and killed the majority of its people in the markets and in their homes. [They] destroyed the dome placed over the grave of al-Husayn [and took] whatever they found inside the dome and its surroundings … the grille surrounding the tomb which was encrusted with emeralds, rubies, and other jewels … different types of property, weapons, clothing, carpets, gold, silver, precious copies of the Qur’an.”[23] In 1818 they were defeated by Ottoman forces.[22] However they eventually seized control of Hijaz and the Arabian peninsula after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, safeguarding their vision of Islam and in the process founding Saudi Arabia as a nation based around the tenets of Islam as preached by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab.[24]

Amarasiri , You are copying from wikipedia exactly copy and paste. Is that your knowledge? Do you know what is Islam and Muslim means? Youtube and Wikipedia is not the true teaching of Islam. Wahhabi name was created by British Media, Because of Muhammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab who born in current Saudi Arabia. Shia’s are the followers of Imams and other Muslims are following the Quran and the real teaching of Prophet Muhammed (Pbuh). So, what you mean Wahhabi?

Alan, “Wahhabi name was created by British Media, Because of Muhammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab who born in current Saudi Arabia.” Wahhabism was first used by the Ottoman Turks. The goal of Wiki is to spread knowledge and reduce ignorance. Copying and pasting knowledge and disseminating knowledge is good. Even after 400 years, still 25% of the world populations believes the Sun goers around the stationary Earth. Please copy and past and let the ignorant know the facts, what Galileo knew. Amarasiri , Ottoman Turks. are also Sunni muslims. You keep on following the western media who lies around. 1400y before QURAN clearly mentioned about sun, earth movement and the same thing 400y before it was confirmed. Your knowledge about Islam and Quran is weak to talk or debate about it.

Alan, God gave you a brain, eyes and earns. Use them. Do not gulp down every statement because it was stated by a Wahhabi Cleric, or any other for that matter. “1400y before QURAN clearly mentioned about sun, earth movement and the same thing 400y before it was confirmed.” Yes, Quran mentioned about the Sun, the Earth, and the Moon. The Ionians, the Greeks, The Egyptian and Mesopotamians, Indians and Chinese also mentioned about the heavenly bodies. If you know your Qurans, The Quran mentions that the mountains are anchored to the four corners of the Earth. The Hadith, Both Bukhari and Muslim, says that the Sun goes under the throne, and when it gets permission, begins to rise from the East and Sets in the West. Let us see what the Wahabi Extraordinaire, the President of the Islamic University of Mediana, had to say about the Earth and the Sun, based ion what is in the Quran and Hadith. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abd_al-Aziz_ibn_Baz Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah bin Baz (Arabic: عبد العزيز بن عبد الله بن باز‎) (November 21, 1910 – May 13, 1999), was a Saudi Arabian Islamic scholar and a leading proponent of the Salafi form of Islam (often referred to as Wahhabism). He was the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia from 1993 until his death in 1999. Ibn Baz’s views and rulings were sometimes controversial, particularly those relating to cosmology, women’s rights, the acceptability of stationing foreign troops in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War and in relation to Osama bin Ladin. Cosmology[edit] See also: Orbit of the sun, Geocentric model, Astronomy in Islam, and Apostasy in Islam In 1966, when Ibn Baz was vice-president of the Islamic University of Medina, he wrote an article denouncing Riyadh University for teaching the “falsehood” that the earth rotates and orbits the sun.[21] Ibn Baz’s position has often incorrectly been reported as “the earth is flat”[22] and, according to Professor Werner Ende, a German expert on ibn Baz’s fatwas, he has never asserted this.[23] Robert Lacey says that, according to the memory of someone who read Bin Baz’s writings, he gave an interview after publishing the article “in which he mused on how we operate day to day on the basis that the ground beneath us is flat.”[24] According to Lacey, this led ibn Baz to the personal belief that the earth is flat but that Muslims were nevertheless entitled to believe that the earth was spherical.[24] Lacey acknowledges that ibn Baz issued no fatwa that the earth is flat[24] and Abd al-Wahhâb al-Turayrî calls those that attribute the flat earth view to ibn Baz “rumor mongers”. He points out that ibn Baz issued a fatwa declaring that the Earth is round,[25][26] and, indeed, in 1966 ibn Baz wrote “The quotation I cited [in his original article] from the speech of the great scholar Ibn Al-Qayyim (may Allah be merciful to him) includes proof that the earth is round.”[27] In his 1966 article, ibn Baz did claim that the sun orbited the earth,[28][29][30] and that “the earth is fixed and stable, spread out by God for mankind and made a bed and cradle for them, fixed down by mountains lest it shake”.[30] As a result of the publication of his first article, ibn Baz was ridiculed by Egyptian journalists as an example of Saudi primitiveness,[23] and King Faisal was reportedly so angered by the first article that he ordered the destruction of every unsold copy of the two papers that had published it.[21][30] In 1982 Ibn Baz published a book, Al-adilla al-naqliyya wa al-ḥissiyya ʿala imkān al-ṣuʾūd ila al-kawākib wa ʾala jarayān al-shams wa al-qamar wa sukūn al-arḍ (“Treatise on the textual and rational proofs of the rotation of the sun and the motionlessness of the earth and the possibility of ascension to other planets”). In it, he republished the 1966 article, together with a second article on the same subject written later in 1966,[31] and repeated his belief that the sun orbited the earth.[22] In 1985, he changed his mind concerning the rotation of the earth (and, according to Lacey, ceased to assert its flatness), when Prince Sultan bin Salman returned home after a week aboard the space shuttle Discovery to tell him that he had seen the earth rotate.[21][24] In addition, there was controversy concerning the nature of the takfir (the act of declaring other Muslims to be kafir or unbelievers) which it was claimed Ibn Baz had pronounced. According to Malise Ruthven, he threatened all who did not accept his “pre-Copernican” views with a fatwa, declaring them infidels.[32] Ibn Baz wrote a letter to a magazine in 1966 responding to similar accusations: “I only deemed it lawful to kill whoever claims that the sun is static (thābita la jāriya) and refuses to repent of this after clarification. This is because denying the circulation of the sun constitutes a denial of Allah (Glorified be He), His Great Book, and His Honorable Messenger. It is well established in the Din (religion of Islam) by way of decisive evidence and Ijma` (consensus) of scholars that whoever denies Allah, His Messenger or His Book is a Kafir (disbeliever) and their blood and wealth become violable. It is the duty of the responsible authority to ask them to repent of this; either they repent or be executed. Thanks to Allah that this issue is not debatable among scholars.”[27] Ibn Baz’s second article written in 1966 also responded to similar accusations: “I did not declare those who believe that the earth rotates to be infidels, nor those who believe that the sun moving around itself, but I do so for those who say that the sun is static and does not move (thābita la jāriya), which is in my last article. Whoever says so being an infidel is obvious from the Qur’an and the Sunnah, because God almighty says: ‘And the sun runs on (tajri) to a term appointed for it’ … As for saying that the Sun is fixed in one position but still moving around itself, …, I did not deal with this issue in my first article, nor have I declared as infidel anyone who says so.”[31][33] Western writers subsequently have drawn parallels between their perception of ibn Baz and the trial of Galileo by the Catholic Church in the 16th century.[3

You must read the Quran with proper translation to understand it. Sun will rise from the west to east that will be the end of this world. It has mentioned in Quran. Many Scientist / Mathematicians in the west tried to challenge the Quran but finally they accepted Islam. One day you will also accept Islam….I will pray for you.

Devraja, Thanks. Here is a Frontline Report on Wahhabism and its flavors. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/saudi/analyses/wahhabism.html For more than two centuries, Wahhabism has been Saudi Arabia’s dominant faith. It is an austere form of Islam that insists on a literal interpretation of the Koran. Strict Wahhabis believe that all those who don’t practice their form of Islam are heathens and enemies. Critics say that Wahhabism’s rigidity has led it to misinterpret and distort Islam, pointing to extremists such as Osama bin Laden and the Taliban. Wahhabism’s explosive growth began in the 1970s when Saudi charities started funding Wahhabi schools (madrassas) and mosques from Islamabad to Culver City, California. Here are excerpts from FRONTLINE’s interviews with Mai Yamani, an anthropologist who studies Saudi society; Vali Nasr, an authority on Islamic fundamentalism; Maher Hathout, spokesperson for the Islamic Center of Southern California; and Ahmed Ali, a Shi’a Muslim from Saudi Arabia. (Also see the Links and Readings section of this site for more analyses of Wahhabism and Saudi Arabia.)

Alan, “Your knowledge is only Wikipedia and copy and paste. ” 1. Amarasiri reads and understands the contents. Wahhabis and the various Wahhabi flavor followers do not read, do nor understand , only Chant Quaranic Verses in 7th Century Arabic, believing that Allah understands only Arabic. 2. I have three translations of the Quran, but the Wahhabis selectively read what they want to see and reads, and believe what the Wahhabi Mullahs, such as the Wahhabi Extraordinaire, says. That is the core-problem. “Sun will rise from the west to east that will be the end of this world. It has mentioned in Quran.” 3. See what the Hadith says about the Sun going beneath Allah’s throne in Bukhari and Muslim, which means that the Sun is moving beneath the Earth. (In the Bible, Joshua stopped the Sun for 24 hrs!) For the Sun to rise from the West, the Earth’s rotation needs to stop and reverse. Where is the Energy for this to come from? Allah? Say be, and it happens? I do not believe thew “Wahhabi scientists” know anything about physics and motion. “I will pray for you.” Thank you. Man is for himself, and God is for All. Use reason, not unsubstantiated dogma.

Remember Martin Luther of the 16th Century? Enjoy! http://www.websrilanka.com/Bukhari/Chapter%2013%20-%20Bloopers%201%20-%20Sun%20rests%20under%20Allahs%20Throne.htm Chapter 13 – Sun rests under Allah’s Throne A. Where does the sun go at sunset? Bukhari and Muslim – revered by “Scholars” as “Muththafaqun Alaihi” interprets 36:38 (Surah Yaaseen) of the Holy Quran and attributes this howler to our Holy Prophet (S); “And the sun Runs its fixed course For a term (decreed). that is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All-Knowing.” By Bukhari i. “Sahih” Bukhari Volume No. 4 Hadith Number 421 Narrated Abu Dhar: The Prophet asked me at sunset, “Do you know where the sun goes (at the time of sunset)?” I replied, “Allah and His Apostle know better.” He said, “It goes (i.e. travels) till it prostrates Itself underneath the Throne and takes the permission to rise again, and it is permitted and then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered to return whence it has come and so it will rise in the west. And that is the interpretation of the Statement of Allah: “And the sun Runs its fixed course For a term (decreed). that is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All-Knowing.” (Q. 36: 38) Bukhari Hadith (Arabic) Serial No. 3199- Bukhari Hadith (Arabic) Serial No.7424- ii. “Sahih” Al-Bukhari Volume 6. Hadith # 326 Narrated by Abu Dharr Once I was with the Prophet in the mosque at the time of sunset. The Prophet said, “O Abu Dharr! Do you know where the sun sets?” I replied, “Allah and His Apostle know best.” He said, “It goes and prostrates underneath (Allah’s) Throne; and that is Allah’s Statement: ‘And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (decreed). And that is the decree of All-Mighty, the All-Knowing…’ ” (36.38) Bukhari Hadith (Arabic) Serial No. 4802- iii. “Sahih” Al-Bukhari Hadith Volume 9. Hadith #528 Narrated by Abu Dharr I asked the Prophet regarding the Verse: “And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term decreed for it.” (36.28) He said, “Its fixed course is underneath Allah’s Throne.” . “Sahih” Muslim -Book 1, Number 0300: Abu Dharr reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) the (implication of the) words of Allah, the Exalted: The sun glides to its appointed resting place. Marawan, The Wahhabis are truly the agents of Satan, the Devil. More information is given below. Wahhahis are the curse for everybody. How can Wahhabi vandalism be stopped? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knyPPrj0rAc Published on Sep 21, 2012 Wahhabis have a history of vandalising and destroying Islamic heritage. In Saudi Arabia they destroyed and damaged houses and mosques associated with the Prophet Mohammad and his family. The history goes back to 18th and 19th century and their raids on Shi’a holly cities of Karbala and Najaf, killing and enslaving their populations. In recent years the Wahhabi doctrine has been responsible for the expansion of those destructions beyond Arabia to North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Pakistan and even the Muslim Balkans. In Libya and Egypt, Salafi and Wahhabi groups took the opportunity of the recent unrests to attack and damage several Sufi shrines and cemeteries. In Libya they destroyed the shrine of Zuhayr Ibn al-Balawi a companion of Prophet Mohammad. In July, another Wahhbai group in Mali began to destroy and vandalise historical Sufi shrines, mausoleums and cemeteries of Timbuktu, a UNESCO registered World Heritage. Surprisingly these atrocities has never mobilised international public opinion against Wahabis in the same manner as the destruction of the statues of Buddha in Afghanistan by Taliban.

AmarasirI “. So, my recommendation for you and the Muslim Council is that you need to follow the Egalitarianism of Prophet Mohamed ” That is Prophet himself slaughters and eliminated all the tribes that did not listen to him and he did not want his face to be shown because other tribes when identified him would refuse his preachings. Because of Mohomad’s egalitarianism you guys always kill and get rid of minority muslim sects. How funny and how dumb.

Jim, ” So, my recommendation for you and the Muslim Council is that you need to follow the Egalitarianism of Prophet Mohamed ” May be need to add the discipline of Prophet Mohamed. However, it is reading and understanding that there is no compulsion to be a Muslim. ( The Wahhabis are a different beast altogether) I have NOT read that Mohamed killed all the other tribes. It is my understanding he did kill the men of a Jewish tribe who were traitors with the Meccans Arab Tribes who were trying to kill him.. Only the Men were killed, not the Women and Children, unlike the Sri Lanka Army what they did to the Tamils in 2009. It is my understanding that the other Arab tribes joined prophet Mohamed, because he became more powerful. It is like what the Europeans did with Hitler and the Jews, and what many Sri Lankan shills are doing with the present Rajapaksa Regime. However, it was voluntary. If you have information, that is credible, please provide the reference to check it out.

Then persia convert persia to Islam country native Persians run every, read “Two Centuries of Silence”. Only men were killed then their wives were forced to prostitution for life as right hand posses. Arab tribes join because most of them were not mentioned in people of book. Therefore they have no choice. Cannot trust western Media so It’s not credible to say SL Army Kill innocent tamils. May not happen, may be happen in smaller number. if they really did they r wrong too. Both prophet and them are wrong. Religious tolerance of Islam mainly may be due to Persia and Ottoman empire. They need power more than religion. Since non of the religion give nothing but some time to waste. There is some benefit of Buddhist philosophy since it try to create charitable society. All others are worst.

Thank god for the Shoora council. What a relief! We can all just relax now. They are sure to deal with the hate campaign. This what the Tamils should have done. The should have appointed a Shoora council. Its like Inter- Religious Select Committee(RSC).

I am not very sure about this organization. A part of me says this is good, and another part of me says that this is another Rajapakse or Gotha conspiracy similar to Bodu Bala Sena this may be another Islamic Bala Sena with a different name. Lets wait and watch. Remember Badurdeen Mohammed, he jumped from political party to political party, what is his son going to do??

Thanks Park, but with due respect,I hope you understand that Badiuddin didn’t have an SLFP to jump and instead he was one of the co-founders of SLFP alongside SWRD. SLFP is a breakaway from UNP.So the jump in my view would suit peple like Dahanayake,Ronnie,SB,Rauf and Anura and the likes.

The NSC is years behind in the task that it has undertaken; still better late than never. For some time the political fortunes of the Muslim community lay in the hands of a disparate group of politicians who clung to whatever opportunity came their way. Now, the need of the hour is for a coordinated effort to safeguard the much beleaguered Muslim community. For several months now, other far-sighted, mostly self-appointed Muslim leaders have put in place ad hoc plans to ensure preparedness to defend the communities wherever needed to save further harassment and indignity. Time is running out for Presidential/governmental initiatives to stop the activities of the ethno-religious mobs that are operating, through the island, with impunity. The consequences of inaction are unthinkable.

Why not call it Muslim Consultative council. Why do we use Arabic words in Sri Lanka. Arabic is not a holy language. Quran was revealed in Arabic as Prophet was from Saudi. There are numerous versein the Quran as to why Quran is in Arabic. Saudification of our language.

salmaj, Shoora Council in Arabic will bring consensus. 1. Arabic is a language all Muslims can agree on, because some will claim it is God’s language. It was the same case with Hebrew, and Latin or Greek, and the translation of the Bible to common languages of English and German created calamity in the Church. Same with Buddhist changings in Pali. 2. To begin with there are major differences within Muslims. A lot of innovations have been introduced especially by the Wahhabi Ideology, that deviates from what is there in the Quran and Hadith. Muslim Ulema and intellectuals seem unable to sort it out. Each group is dogmatic about it’s belief and dogma. Providing reason and evidence will not convince the dogmatics. Remember Galileo. Around the 12th century, there were major differences that were debated between the philosophers and the Ulema, and the Ulema took the upper hand by elevating revelation above reason. So, the Sun moves and goes under the throne…… Muslims are unable to sort their theology. They need the input from non-Muslim intellectuals and have the Quran interpreted along with Hadith for them, as written.

Shoora Council is the apex body of leadership, established in most Muslim countries, and even in countries with a sizeable Muslim population, which usually has representation from all Muslim denominations. They will formulate decisions and agree on a common strategy to safeguard the interests of their constituents. Muslim Politicians will come and go, and may not be able to voice their opinions strongly enough, since they have to toe the government line. But Shoora Council will act independent of politics and that is where we hope it will count. This move quite similar in strategy to the transfer of the Halal certification from JU to a private company In my personal opinion, way to go.

MashaAllah, Tariq Ibn Badiuddin Mahmud is the right choice to lead the NSC. Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said: “The Muslim Ummah is like one body. If the eye is in pain then the whole body is in pain and if the head is in pain then the whole body is in pain” So we the Muslim Ummah, whatever colour, nationality or gender, wherever we are like one body. Muslims all around the world should strive to implement the Islamic Shariah (Divine Injunctions) on themselves first, before they start imposing on others. To practice Islam; the geographic location is not very important. We can choose to ignore the secular lifestyle very easily even if we are destined to live in a so-called democracy. This belief is from a life long experience. When love, knowledge and aspiration is directed in this worldly life, the heart becomes narrow and gloomy as it distances itself from the source. Islam will win with or without you. But without Islam, you will get lost, and lose. What does the term Wahabbi means http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quEpBoIS4vY

‘Tariq Mahmud, was unanimously elected as permanent chairman of NSC’. Why Permanant chairman? This is where Muslims go wrong. Getting over emotional? Having said that NSC sounds to me good. Hope it wont be another SLMC. Some agents or elements might even try to include the likes of Rishard Bathiudeen or Faizer Mustafa to the board. Better keep it clean from gutter politics and politicians, specially Muslim politicians. I dont mind getting some advise from Dr. Bahu or Mr Sumanthiran. All the Best.

Characters like John – JimSofty – noel-jones – Amarasiri – ela kolla are Satan’s handiwork. The “infernal pact.” they have with the Devil goes with the selling of their soul for pittance. Now they can legally worship the Church of Satan. The deadly sins are their gratifications. Throughout the ages the Devil has been represented by many and varied imagery. As a snake, as a man, a beast with horns and a tail, as a nightmare with bat’s wings. This supreme evil being still walks the Earth, tempting, seducing and corrupting those of little faith. According to scientists and secularists these Devils and Demons are a means of causing harm to the unity and peace of the Human soul.

Omar Lebbe and Izzeth Hussain make one more effort on the part of Muslims to get to the Sinhala side trying to demonize the Tamils. Will this succeed? On the other hand, many Sinhala are now of the view they made a mistake in hurting in alienating the Tamils and must made early and suitable amends to make up. They know who benefitted when the division was kept going. Curiously, we find old Buddy’s son trying to soothe majority anger by the wrong tool of a shoora. He seems to be out of touch – also coming with a name totally aping the Arabs – Tariq ibn Bad-id-din Mahmud. Old Buddy played it wrong when, in 1970 when he was powerful in the Cabinet, he made a mistake of proclaiming Muslims should jettison Tamil to Sinhala and that the flag of Muslims is not green. Evidently, he didn’t win any friends then – not later or even now. He must have gathered up some Dutch courage when he went to meet Karunandihi and friends in late 1983 to assure them “Lankan Muslims are “your cousins” and thus pleading for help. But the DMK leader was not ready to be tricked. Now we have Azath Sally pleading for a Tamil-Muslim alliance??? Out of this 300 million are Shia and the rest includes primarily Sunni ( dick in Tamil) and some other smaller sects. You Muslim scoundrels are going to be wide out of the world soon. Take it from me in 100 years Islam would have lost relevance in the world would die out. We Tamils have to live in harmony with our co- religionists Buddhists. The time has come for you Muslim lot to stop playing politics on the unfortunate Tamil Sinhala division after all we Tamils and Sinhalese are ethnically related Dravidians.

The Wahhabis, ignore the Quranic Revelation, there is no compulsion in Religion, and commit suicide, that is forbidden in Islam, and only God, Allah-can take a life. If the Muslims do nor deal with the Wahhabi Virus, they are going to be making more calamity for Muslims and Non-Muslims alike. Galileo told the Truth. The Church punished Galileo. You may give a hundred excuses for such violence but the fact is your prophet never foresaw what he was unleashing and your Allah had no foresight sending a messenger who turns out to be the root cause of all that is horrific in Araby and beyond.

Problem with persons like Latheef is that when all that was horrendous without any semblance of democracy was perpetrated against Tamils (and even now against anyone who raise voice of dissent, to whichever community he belongs,)not only they did not raise their voice against it but most of the time they were even aiding and abetting it. Worst Latheef was lamenting that when they, the Muslims of SL, and Muslim countries were supporting and defending the GOSL at Geneva, of all people the Government has chosen to attack and-or chosen to support those who attack Muslims or their places of worship. Latheef without any principle wanted the government not to attack the Muslims as a favour for supporting them even though they were at fault. It is the same with Muslim politicians who are with the Government. Remember the Current Minister of Justice(!)Janab Rauf Hakeem even defended the Grease Devil when it attacked a Muslim lady in Periya Kinniya, a predominantly Mslim village, saying that it was a lie. They defend the government even against their Community(even if the community’s position is correct)for the perks and privileges they receive and they will never change. Latheef knows this too.

This organization is being funded by Qatar based extremists. The defense Ministry has been keeping a close tab on the individuals who are working behind the scene to create a Mecca in Sri Lanka. BBS exposed this about 10 months back. The former lake house editor Ameen was photographed with Islamic extremists. Farook and many others are paid servants of these extremists. This will cause immense problems for the moderate muslim community. They have to stand up to fight these extremists. The Muslims have lived peacefully in this country and this kind of group who are funded by Saudi and Qatari groups will make life miserable for the Muslims in Sri Lanka

YOu bet they will not reply this as you know Muslim men do not recognise women in important positions. They will send their women to the Gulf, sit in Sri Lanka spending their money, but they will want to be recognised as a superior being. These are conservative men who still think that women do not have brains, despite their scholarly achievements in the past and the present. If women enter politics, what would be discussed is their private life and not their capacity to work towards rebuilding the nation.

Priya, late Ashraff wife was a minister. There are other women in many professions. Why ridicule poor house maids from Muslim community when the job attracts women of all communities? This is an issue of poverty and survival and not gender superiority. In fact according to Islam,a man is obliged to look after his wife and children. But the very country Islam was born,is ready to break the law by allowing wives to work and look after husbands and children of other countries. And there are those who die to preach clean Islam back home in extreme form and watch basic rules break for the benefit of all! This is the typical character of hypocrisy.Remember, there are good number of Muslims watching in frustration, powerless to do anything.

Malli and Priya, The Wahhabis and their cohorts consider women to be men’s chattel and no representation is needed. When a Muslim girl gets married, the Chattel, the Girl is transferred from the owner, the father, Wali, to the groom, and no signature of the bride is needed, even though sometimes they do get the verbal approval under duress. They do not even let women attend the Mosque for prayers in South Asia. The Hindus, the Buddhists, the Jews and the Christians do not do that. They say when the man gets to the Islamic heaven, they get blue eyed Virgins. What do women get? Suppose you own some goats, your chattel, do you give representation to your goats? The Wahhabis and their cohorts, the so-called Militants,do not like women to be educated. See what they did to Malala and what they are doing all over the world. The Wahhabis are the true agents of the Devil, the Satan. The Wahhabi Satan virus, that will infect the true Muslims.

These Councils are affiliated to Islamic Jihad and Al Qaeda groups. Lanka should forthwith investigate and detain the leaders, and check all their correspondence, travel, internet access, email, etc. Otherwise they will take the country to the Islamic gutter of radical Wahabbism.

Nari Sabri,Muslims of Srilanka will never do anything that will harm their ambitious, beutiful worldly life. True, there are extremist looking characters but take my word, none of them are genuinely serious Islamists. But the rage to exhibit their totally superficial learning and practice of so-called Wahabism through visible changes in lifestyle has drawn criticism not only from non-Muslims but also from moderate Muslims. You can simply apply the “same old wine in a new bottle” theory to this new trend. In reality Wahabists are losing ground where Wahabism was born.Just take a look at how princess Ameera taweel looks in London and New York,in youtube. But the hate campaign by the extreme Monks against Muslims, have little to do with all these.Their hatred has a long and deep rooted history.

Pirana, When the Sinhala become Muslims, they become Muslims. When the Tamils become Muslims, they become Muslins. When the Portuguese become Muslims, they become Muslins. When the Arabs become Muslim, they become Muslims. When the Bengalis become muslins, they become Muslims, etc. When the Veddah become Muslims, they become Muslins. Being Muslim, is not ethnicity, it is a belief, like the other beliefs. Have you ever wondered why, after 2,300 years there are hardly any Tamil Buddhists in Sri Lanka, whereas in in India all the Indian States have a few prevent Buddhists? Mahawansa and Monk Mahanama Sinhala Buddist Racism?

Every religion teaches the good.It came at different times to different societies and spoke of the truth and good deeds. Religions transformed society to what it is today. It is us in this society took the religion and interpreted selfishly to suit our needs. In a way we have hijacked the religion. Whether it is Wahabism, shism or others, Quran and the Prophet never mentioned it that way. These divisions are made for geo-political reasons.Islam is a way of life. We in this country do not need these sects. They create divisions. We have lived with Islam in this beautiful land for so long. Let us live that way.No need for us to insult any religion. Now the Muslim Shoora Council has a great responsibility to bridge the muslims and others to build a harmonious society. They need intellectual input and practical approach . May almighty bless them to carry on the right tasks.

Mr. Amarasiri Sinhala muslim There are lot of Muslims who in the distant past got married to Sinhala women. They have mixed blood. Our Vasagama -of various sinhal names is a proof. As such many muslims, like me, can be called Sinhala muslim. Bear in mind MUSLIM is a universal word for the followers of Islam anywhere in the world. It is nothing to do with ethnicity. When it comes to ethnicity, many muslims do not have a clue about it. I call myself a Sri Lankan then a Sinhala Muslim second.I presume many muslims will not agree. But we have to see where we belong.

Yosuf What language you speak to your vaappa and ummah in? Isn’t it Tamil? It is distorted history to say that a Sinhala Muslim race was created when Muslim men married Sinhala women -which is a nonsense. The Arabs first settled in South India before they arrived in Eelam that is where they married south Indian women and acquired the Tamil language and culture. This clearly explain why all the muslims in Srilanka are Tamil speaking . Only recently the Srilankan Muslims are learning in Sinhalese to placate the Sinhalese that doesn’t make them Sinhalese Muslims. Now the Srilankan Muslims are re- writing their history to suit their situation. As far as the Sinhalese are concerned whether you Sinhala or Tamil you are still Thambiya no escaping of this reality.
