Muslims Should Start Asserting; We Are Equal Citizens; Not ‘Karapincha’!

By Lukman Harees

Lukman Harees

You fight for your rights when your rights are being denied. When the building is on fire, you don’t stand by and let the building burn down and say we’ll fight the fire another day.” – Richard Gilbert

It is indeed a healthy sign that at least the intellectual sections and civic leadership of the Muslim community in particular are now slowly but surely awakening to the fact that Muslims can no longer afford to live solely on the sympathy and goodwill of the rulers, and further relying on certain political personalities to safeguard or win their rights is just a futile exercise and not a long term solution. This stark reality and their imperative need to lead the community to come out of the ‘victim-minority’ mentality and think and act as equal citizens may well and truly would have been catalysed by the bitter experiences of the replay of the ‘dark days’ of the Post-war MR era , in an increased tempo in recent times, even after a regime change in January 2015  which promised a ‘Yahapalanaya’ and fair treatment to all communities. Perhaps this regime change is proving to be a case of changing the pillow to cure a headache’( to borrow a Sinhala adage). However, how the ‘Presidential candidate’ Sirisena boldly made assertions then to be a leader for all communities and how two years later as ‘President’ appear to be meekly submitting to the diabolical plans of the racist lobby to ‘govern’ the country as they deemed fit, are nothing surprising if only the trends of governance in Post- Independence Sri Lanka are closely studied!

Muslims/ Moors in their history of more than 1000 years, majority of whom live outside N&E Sri Lanka, have found Sinhala people great and tolerant and have found them much amicable to  live with and there have been no major issues in such regard at the grass-root level. However, many scholars have argued that ironically, the competition among the Sinhala ruling classes, for acquiring state resources and political capital, sadly turned nationalism into the ruling ideology and the state ideology of Sri Lanka, while the rise and institutionalisation of Sinhala-Buddhist nationalism in post-independent Sri Lanka bear much responsibility for today’s ethnic conflicts between the majority Sinhalese state and the minorities. Nira Wickramasinghe, an author in history (2006) says that ‘the three Constitutions of post- independence Sri Lanka, helped demarcate and define a majority from within the citizens pitting them against non- Buddhists and non- Sinhala speaking minority communities…(placing) minorities in a somewhat dependent and subaltern situation’.

B.H. Farmer, a distinguished geographer, ‘Ceylon –A Divided Nation’ in 1963 referring to the times which followed  after Independence, too wrote : ‘’…Since those saddening days of 1958 Ceylon has had its share of trouble…..The truth, though unpalatable may be to some, is simply that nobody unacceptable to the present Sinhalese Buddhist nationalism has any chance of constitutional power in contemporary Ceylon.”. The ‘Mad Monk phenomenon’ (as Journalist C A Chandraprema once put it) being witnessed today is an extension of this strategy. This explains why despite the many historic opportunities, –one at the Independence and one recently after the end of the War – Sri Lankan ruling class appear to be still dishing out the same bag of garbage to the minorities and acting as if they are just ‘Karapincha’ and pawns in their power seeking games. Non implementation of the relevant LLRC recommendations and lack of a coherent strategy to resolve the national ethnic problem even after 8 years of the end to the War under two regimes also prove this point succinctly. Muslims of Sri Lanka in particular, with their traditional commercial mind-set, should therefore cease to be used as pushovers or punch-bags anymore ,relying merely on the magnanimity of the government in power and taking some political leaders as their champions to ensure their survival and progress.

It is therefore imperative for the minorities in general and Muslims in particular to realize even at this late stage that; regime changes with whatever promises or catchphrases will only remain just cosmetic and will not change the status quo , until qualitative changes happen at the root of the very essence and nature  of politics and governance in Sri Lanka. When the Muslim community underwent immense suffering in the hands of BBS goons and their likes in the Post-War period, they continued to appeal to the magnanimity of the King ‘Mahinda’ and Prince Gota to stop the hate campaign and ensure justice. But, keen observers knew that these hate machinations were but their own majoritarian chauvinist supremacist strategies to further their ulterior ends. This writer had a recent opportunity to attend a meeting in Colombo, convened by a section of Muslim civic leadership in December 2016 with Minister Rajitha Senaratna, who is known to be a balanced and non-racist politician, to address the security issues faced by the community. This meeting too ended in just glib talk with Rajitha giving a false sense of hope and security asserting that he will fill in the void in the absence of active Muslim political leadership, to act as the ‘champion’ of Muslim rights, which received a round of applause from the audience.

This docile approach of the Muslim community is clearly been proving futile , in the light of the recent developments. When some influential sections of the hierarchy of the government are rumoured to boldly provide refuge to the fugitive hate monk who continues to give leadership  to the well-orchestrated hate campaign against the Muslims in an increased tempo and scale, and the country has been witnessing the most farcical judicial and law enforcement drama ever enacted farce in letting this Wirathu-equivalent to play hide and seek with the arm of law, I wonder where this type of champions are. It is a matter of extreme concern that the government appears to have abdicated its’ role as the guardian of constitutional basic rights, judging by this spate of ‘Islamophobic’ hate attacks continuing without fear or sanction despite outcries from the professional bodies like BASL, recent ‘strong representations’ from the Muslim political leaders across the political spectrum and the international community too. Same wine in new bottles, aren’t they? And so much for the ‘empty’ constitutional safeguards to ensure fair-play and the rule of law!

Sri Lanka suffers currently from growing ethnic tension fed by the denial of minority rights and the absence of power sharing. But, a mere constitution itself, however great it may be ,will not be of any viable use, if those in power chose to ignore its’ nuances and spirit. Lord Soulbury too, in 1963 admitted this fact with regard to Constitution he spearheaded , thus: ‘As Sir Charles Jeffries has put it… ‘the Soulbury Constitution… had entrenched in it all the protective provisions for minorities that the wit of man could devise’.. Nevertheless, in the light of later happenings, I now think it is a pity the Commission did not also recommend the entrenchment in the Constitution of guarantees of fundamental rights… (However)… the reconciliation … will depend not on constitutional guarantees but on the goodwill, common sense and humanity of the Government in power and the people who elect it.”

In fact, hate mongers used to portray the defeat of the Tigers as the military victory over the Tamils, and triumphant Buddhist-Sinhalese hate groups on the extreme right found a fresh target for xenophobia in the Muslim community. ‘The end of the war in 2009 offered an opportunity for the strongly centralised state to recognise the multi-ethnic and poly-religious character of the country and to overcome the confinement of nation building projects to the Sinhala nation. The ethno-nationalist war turned the Muslims into a community ‘in between’, sandwiched between the Tamil Tigers and the Sinhalese military with both Tamil and Sinhala political elites displaying a strong tendency to exclude Muslims’ (McGilvray & Raheem 2007: ix).

The Sri Lankan ethnic conflict then was often regarded as a two-way contest between the Sinhala majority and the Tamil minority, ignoring the interests and concerns of the island’s 10 percent Muslim minority. A narrow Sinhala vs. Tamil mindset, and a complex set of sociological and political factors within the Muslim community, limited the direct participation of the Muslims even in the peace process at that time. My friend, senior journalist Latheef Farook clearly shows in his many well-written publications that Muslims indeed are a forgotten community caught in the crossfire and taken for granted with impunity by subsequent regimes.

It is therefore time opportune that Muslims shed their victim ‘minority’ mentality and begin to think, act and claim their due place as equal citizens whose rights to practice their religion and culture are enshrined in the Constitution, while adopting a reconciliatory ‘common interest’ approach along with the progressive sections of the Sinhala community who form the majority to take this country forward. The Muslim intellectuals should join forces with their equals in other communities to combat the common thinking being sown by these hate groups not just among the majority population but also among the Muslim community too, that they are subservient crows, parasites or subsidiary crops; in fact, collective conscience of the community has already been programmed to such effect not just by these hate lobbies, but sadly by the docile approach of their leaders too. Muslims particularly living in South should convince their Sinhala neighbours in word and deed that that they are ready to be equal partners in progress and live as Muslims of Sri Lanka rather than Muslims in Sri Lanka, for both communities share a common destiny.

If the future generation of Muslims and minorities are to live in a Sri Lanka as equal, dignified citizens, then the mind-set of the  present generation of leaders should change. The rights of minorities to be considered as equals can only be achieved if the leaders infuse a  sense of self-respect, specially in the young ones without making them cow down to the machinations of these nationalist majoritarian forces. They should be taken out of the minority inferiority mind-set  and taught to be proud of their history and their worthy contributions to this  country , so that the minorities will start to demand what is due to us as a matter of right and not bow down before the government in power as if they are favours in return for their votes. It is just wishful thinking that Muslim community interests will be seriously looked at , by the governments  appeasing the Sinhala Buddhist nationalists, if they do not stand up and be counted. Social observers in fact opine that one of the gravest follies the Muslims did was to take a back seat expecting their right under the sunny Sri Lanka to be a given and not speak effectively on behalf of the just aspirations of their Tamil brethren.  This reminds me of the poem written by German theologian Martin Neimoller who wrote about the dangers of the silence of bystanders in the face of Hitler’s oppression.

It is true that Muslims have shown and should continue to show, an amazing sense of restraint and patience in the midst of these well- orchestrated campaign to  provoke them into rash action and to tarnish their image. However, that alone is not sufficient. The present Muslim political and religious leadership should either reform or leave to pave way for budding youth with new thinking , in order to avoid putting the community back to sleep saying sheepishly that action has now been taken to stop the hate campaigns. What is the guarantee that there will not be a repeat July 1983 or June 2014  with a government using these mad monks as pawns to instigate the peaceful Sinhala people against them? Obviously, non-violence forms of struggle should be the way forward . Quran clearly warns them that God will not change the condition of a people unless they take measures to initiate those changes.

These dogs of hate roaming about in the name of Sinhala Buddhist nationalism, should be leashed and confronted without allowing them to eat into the dignity and self-respect of the minorities. Towards this goal, the approach of the present Muslim political leadership to appease the government and to compromise the community interests for petty or for short term gains and develop cowardly attitudes should stop and build self confidence in the community and ability to create an environment where they can live as equal ,dignified citizens. Otherwise the many constitutional guarantees will only remain in paper, if the government is not kept on their toes, is not held to account on this count and if the Muslim community do not assert themselves in the political, social, and public domain to show that minorities are not pushovers  and it is the obligation of the government  to protect  their rights to practice their religion and culture,  which are also human rights under UDHR.

Singhalese leadership does not have deep and profound thinking and they are just thinking to get away with current situation..since 1954…there had been some unrest in SL and even after LTTE was defeated sinhasles leadership should behave with such responsibility to deal with minorities.
Look Tamil communtiy is badly hurt with war ending …many people suffered and emotional scars of war are still vivid in the face of many Tamils…rather than having some sympathy and empathy on minorities people.Singhalese leadership with pride and proud of war victory let these monk thugs to go on rampage..
You do not need to be expert to know this …this monk and his dance is nothing but some politicians behind it.
It was Goata who created to show off his power …MR did not like it but he could not control it ..now it is gone beyond control to bring bad name for Buddhism and Buddhists…95% of Singhalese are good people…no point in blaming any Singhales for the wrong doing of BBS …blame SL goverment..
For Muslims only thing they could do is boycott parliament for some time ..22 Muslim MPs should sit with JVP to teach lesson for these hypocritical poltical leaders ..
Until monks do some terrible harm to RANI’L or MS they will never listen to any one ..after all it was a.monk who killed SW.Bandaranaike…it looks that srilanka government have not learned a lesson from hisotry

You have to learn to spell before you make bombastic statements like this! Muslims trying to have Sharia law introduced in Christian countries are being marginalised. What do they want to start a revolution lie the LTTE did? The ones that are still fighting are expatriâtes and soon they will not be allowed visas to enter Sri Lanka.. Read the news and educate your self.

If anyone has treated Muslims like ‘karapincha’ it is the Muslim leadership. They sold wholesale the just cause of their community in exchange for the little favours that they received from successive chauvinist regimes. . . . . . . . .
    The same goes for the Hill Country Tamils. . . . . . . . . .
The NE Tamils— they are on sale in the global market.

Very good article, a copy of this should be sent to every Muslim township, the community needs to wake up, leave their comfort zones and realize that there won’t be any progress without struggles and real efforts from each and everyone from the community for their betterment.

However, if the current hate campaign continues, it will be a matter of time before an isis bomb goes off changing the entire landscape of Sri Lanka for years to come, which will be irreversible, tourism will hit rock bottom, of course the Muslim will be the biggest affected, but the others will also pay a heavy price, unfortunately for Sri Lanka, there doesn’t seems to be any light at the end of the tunnel.

Are you hoping this will happen/ 30 years ago the LTTE thought they could have a separate state. Where are the now?
ISIS is now running away in all parts of the Middle East. Read the news. Saudi Arabia is now on the slaughter block for financing terrorism and so is Qatar. Muslims will have to be careful not bite the hand that fed and protected them from Tamil Terrorism. Kathankudi is a really good example. Will they not be reminded of that in 2019 when it will be the thirtieth year since 138 men and boys were murdered in cold blood while they were praying. Let us not have a repeat of those awful time and talk peacefully to the Sinhalese Buddhists if yo don’t want the BBS to get stronger.

“Muslims will have to be careful not bite the hand that fed and protected them from Tamil Terrorism”. Call it just “Terrorism”. I guess it is every govt’s responsibility to safeguard its citizens from terrorism of any sort, it is your discriminating mindset makes it a favor or the current bad state of affairs.

“30 years ago the LTTE thought they could have a separate state. Where are the now?”
It is easy to ask that question as if the war was won in days without damages to the nation, but any war leaves scars, and LTTE is not an exception. On the both sides, how many kids lost their fathers, including a president and a prime minister? How many parents lost their kids? How many wives lost their husbands, how many of us lost our relatives who were not even remotely linked to the fight between. How many soldiers became physically challenged persons? What is the cost of the civil war to the nation? It took 30 years, but put us more than 60 years behind among our neighborers. It further divided people. I guess it is time that you give up being a triumphalist still after nearly a decade and come to senses and see how we can rebuild the nation collectively.

Needy, whiny and ungrateful Muslims, ————————————————————————————————————————————————————
1000 year Muslim history in Sri Lanka is a BIG lie. Early Arab traders or travelers were not Muslims at all. ————————————————————————————————————————————————————- So far, Muslims in Sri Lanka have been a minus point, Muslims couldn’t be bothered to join the Army and fight LTTE terrorist invaders, but now, thousands of SL Muslims have joined various Jihadi terrorist groups across the world. There are so many native-Sinhalese-Buddhist soldiers who fought for their mother country but don’t own a square inch of land in their mother country, yet, alien Muslim invaders have been given hundreds of thousands of acres of land by the government. Another ship load of illegal Muslims arrived in last month or so, Muslim politicians would give them fraudulent Sri Lankan birth certificates, settle them on destroyed Buddhist archeological sites or in deforested jungle. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— Even though Muslims are not a part of Sri Lanka’s interior, as a minority, Muslims enjoy so many rights and privileges. 10% Muslim community get their religious days off as public holidays while 90% NON-MUSLIMS are also made to take the Muslim religions days off and stay at home. Muslims are represented on the NATIONAL FLAG of Sinhala-Buddhist Sri Lanka as well. Muslims get free education, free health care, free housing, etc all paid by Sinhala-Buddhists. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— Muslims must ask themselves what the hell they are doing in Sri Lanka, did the Sinhala-Buddhists ASK Muslims to come to Sri Lanka? MUSLIMS KEEP COMING TO SRI LANKA FOR A BETTER LIFE. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————— REMEMBER, Islam is not a recognized religion by the constitution, the government can ban the practice of Islam at any time.

“Sinhala-Buddhists ASK Muslims to come to Sri Lanka?” Truth is every community in SL is uninvited or “kallathonies”. Difference is timing and probably boat shapes and sizes :-)

“Muslims get free education, free health care, free housing, etc all paid by Sinhala-Buddhists”, did you forget to add, “while Muslims are exempted from paying taxes”? he..he

“Even though Muslims are not a part of Sri Lanka’s interior, as a minority”, Then why in the NATIONAL FLAG? Ask MR, who would share his experience.

Every time, Muslims are exposed of there shenanigans, they accuse Sinhalese of racism or hate, naturally Sinhalese will retreat, BUT NOT ANYMORE.

Why not, we can find jobs in East Asian countries, but they do no charities and selection process is too tough almost equivalent of migrating to EU. Then we have our role model, rich Myanmar to help us anytime ;-) We know how to make a living being jobless back home too. Pickpocketing, illegal liquor, robbery, kidnap for ransom, theft, contract killing and you name anything that would keep police forces busy. And we will make sure govt doubles police forces and CID officials, an another opportunity creating jobs

“”Why not, we can find jobs in East Asian countries, but they do no charities and selection process is too tough almost equivalent of migrating to EU”” This is exactly the reason the country is fighting from the days of suez canal closure in 1968. The women are sent for the benefit of the men and children are left for the men to have sex. Britain and USA are pirate nations with Arms as the top export item we do not need to be like that ever again, keep fighting and earning for the 10% to live life la vida. Presently there is so much wealth in Non GM crops, agro industry, gaming software all this is possible because of the internet. Its the quick money no education, greedy controllers like pin padde malwatte that does not permit it. Even Putin has gone back to non GM and they russia are today’s largest producers of cereals. Stop fighting is the clue- all 3 are as bad as each other and God does not love you because no one knows who that god is. If Alla loved the muslims they won’t be in hell today and the same goes to catholic and buddhist.

Sinhalese and Tamils are ethno linguistic communities that have an ancient history in the island. Moreover these two people are largely secular. and multi religious too. You get Sinhalese Buddhists and Sinhalese Christians, you get Tamil Hindus and Tamil Christians. In India you also get Tamil Muslims , Tamil Jains and still a few Tamil Buddhists. Their identity/ ethnicity is not confined to a certain religion but defined by the language spoken the common origin heritage and history, like the rest of the world.

However the so called Sri Lankan Moors or Muslims are not , they are a recent immigrant community that migrated to the island from largely from South India( 95% of more) and in reality are ethnic Dravidian Tamils , whose Hindu ancestors converted to Islam a few centuries ago, largely to escape the Hindu caste system, as most of them have a low caste origin. Some of them may have a distant male Arab ancestor, however a little bit of Arab amongst a few hundred families does not make them Arab or Moor. They are still ethnically Tamil just like their parent population in South India who do call and identify themselves as Tamil.

Unlike their close relatives and parent population in Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Muslims. Muslims in Sri Lanka for their own benefit real and perceived have decided to deny and distance themselves from their actual Dravidian Tamil origin and solely use their religion to identify themselves as a community . To justify this , they are trying to claim and make the miniscule amount of Arab blood they have confined to a few hundred families as their sole origin and heritage and completely ignore their , more than 95% Tamil Dravidian origin and heritage .

    • 10
      5

To this effect they are fast discarding any vestige of the Dravidian Tamil heritage EG names. dress, culture , even the 1000 Tamil Islam and becoming like some pathetic carbon clones of the Gulf Arabs. In many parts of the east whey the Muslims predominate, they are even making the land look like some Gulf Arab city by planting date Palms. No wonder they are so interested in deforestation , and making everything look like a desert. very soon they will discard their native Tamil language and adopt Arabic or Urdu as their mother tongue to be more in tune with the Wahhabi or Salafist Arabs of the Gulf.

This sort of aggressive behaviour has not only annoyed the Sinhalese but also the Tamils ,as no where else in the world has a religion been used to define an ethnicity . This is why they are not taken seriously , as they are not an ethnicity but a religious group of recent south Indian immigrant Tamil origin. Now wanting to be treated in par with the island’s ancient Sinhalese and Tamil people. Despite 70% or more living amongst the Sinhalese , they only aggressively demand large chunks of land from Tamils , despite denying their Tamil ethnicity.

    • 8
      5

In Britain where Luckman lives South Asian and Afro Caribbean and other immigrant communities are treated with respect but not in par with the indigenous English Scots and Welsh Imagine if these immigrant communities start demanding large British cities as their land. They will be treated derisively even by Lackman Harrees. But it is ok for these fake Arab Muslim immigrants to aggressively demand large chunks of Tamil lands from the indigenous Tamils, as they feel the Tamils are weak and they can get away with it , as no one cars about the Tamils. They will never dare to ask for Muslim homelands from the Sinhalese, despite 70% of them living amongst the Sinhalese. They have a right to be separate from the Hindu /Christian Tamils if they want to but still correctly identified as Tamil Muslims just like the Slavic Muslims of Bosnia.

Lastly it is hypocritical of these Muslims now demanding just rights when they joined and connived with the Sinhalese racists and establishment to deny the island’s Tamils their just rights in their own land, for petty benefits. and promised rewards of Tamil land.
      No where

      RSS,

“Moreover these two people are largely secular. and multi religious too. You get Sinhalese Buddhists and Sinhalese Christians, you get Tamil Hindus and Tamil Christians”

That gave me a good laughter :-) Had you thought of this about 30 years before, I would have been in a better country by now and you would have saved a few lives of your relatives and assets. Rest of the things you said belongs to your own regular tension releasing murmur ;-)

      • 10
        5

They are still far more secular in their outlook than the Sri Lankan Muslims and this is a fact. Tamils even more secular. If Muslims in Sri Lanka were more secular, they will not deny their actual Tamil origin and heritage and try now to look like some pathetic Wahhabi Arab clones and claim a fake Arab origin. They seem to be confusing their religion and closely identifying it with Arab ethnicity. They do not realise ( at least in Sri Lanka) most of the world’s Muslims are not Arabs . In fact the vast majority of them live in the Indian Sub continent and Indonesia. All recent converts to Islam . You do not have to be an Arab/Moor to be good Muslim. and lots of Arabs are not Muslim but Druse and Christian. Secular and racist are two different things. Do not confuse both.

        • 9
          10

There is almost no comment from you without saying Muslims are Tamil origin and not Arabs. Why? What is your goal in trying to rewrite the history? One Muslim minister (I think Athaulla) said BBS is diaspora sponsored to manipulate Muslims to join Tamils .

      • 9
        5

contdWhat happened in the past 30 years is State sponsored Sinhalese racism that was aided and abetted by backstabbing opportunistic fake Arab immigrant Dravidian Indian Tamil Muslims like you, who were promised lots of rewards and stolen Tamil lands by the Sinhalese to support their anti Tamil dance. Do not blame the victim for fighting back .Eelam Tamils are an ancient Indigenous people in the island and have every right to live in dignity in their own land that they had occupied and ruled for the past 2000 years or more. They were denied this and Dravidian Muslim immigrants like you from South India were aiding and abetting the Sinhalese racist and establishment in this genocidal dance.
If you want rights and live in dignity in your adopted land where your ancestors arrived from South India only a few centuries ago. Most of them within the last two centuries. How much more right we have in our own land and this is what you Muslims do not want to acknowledge and are still trying to deny us by conniving with the Sinhalese, despite being ethnically Tamil. You are in logger heads with the Sinhalese racists in the south but are in cohorts with the same Sinhalese racists and extremists in the north and east to deny the Eelam Tamils their rights. Have you thought about it. If your community had from the very beginning you will not be in this predicament. Hated by both people.

        • 8
          8

Ok, you’re saying you have such long history in the land, which is 2000 years. If one look at from that angle, you’re miserably a failed community that did not create its own identity in the land for 2000 years. After 2k years, your culture and identity is solely based on Dravidian tradition of south India, Tamil Nadu, and you still follow the same. Do you have any cultural icons? And it is not a pride but is a shame on you to be minorities living on Sinhalese mercy in a land that you claim you arrived before Sinhalese themselves?
          ————————————————————————————————————
This is how HLD Mahindapala revealed who really you are: “they came as brides, priests, traders, mercenaries, craftsmen, fishermen, invaders and marauders but not as permanent settlers initially. It took a long while for them to settle down as permanent stake holders in Sri Lanka…They remained tied to South India with the primordial urge to go back into the womb”

You can blabbering you Islamic nut case, more than 95% Muslims of Sri Lanka are descended from low caste Dravidian immigrant Indian Tamil Hindus whose ancestors migrated to the island from their South Indian homeland a few centuries ago. The rest of the 5% may have some distant Arab blood but are also predominantly Tamil by heritage. Even the Mapplila Muslims of Kerala who have the most amount of Arab amongst the South Asian Muslim communities 15% average, do not identify themselves as Arabs but as Malayali . You pathetic low caste Indian Tamil converted immigrants with far far less Arab , are trying to claim a pure Arab/Moor origin and descent and completely ignore the more than 95% Tamil origin and heritage. Never seen a bunch of pathetic lying self serving backstabbing wankers, who will do anything to gain a benefit.
Pathetic only can quote charlatan Mahindapala to support you. Everything about the Sri Lankan Muslims reeked of Tamil and not Arab or anything else, language names culture dress even the form of Islam, until they decided that it was advantageous to discard everything Tamil about them and aggressively claim an Arab /Moorish heritage and start becoming like some pathetic Gulf Arab carbon clones. Even the Arabs have sated that Sri Lankan Muslims are not of Arab origin but South Asian converts to Islam. Yet you pathetic shamelessly keep on claiming an Arab origin. This is like some self serving useless person denying their actual family and heritage and claim some other family and heritage as their own, thinking it will serve his or her better. Sri Lankan Muslims are the same. This is why the Tamils and Sinhalese rightfully look down upon them.

Assertion is form judeo christian culture. Now, it is going to the fault of sinhala buddhists giving space to arab muslim traders to settle here and marrying nartive women. Muslims behave the same every where in the world. Western countries. particularly europe gave space to muslims and now europenas are converned muslims using the europena system to islamize the europe. There is no hesitation, muslims in sri lanka are asserting themselves in various ways. The problem is right now, there is a competition among muslims and christians to convert the whole asia. That is why muslims are fighting in China, India, thailand, Myanmar and now in Sri lanka. We don’t think, the sri lankan politicians stop islamization of the country. Venerable ghanasara is a timely messenger and it is time buddhists, Tamils and christians gang up get rid the islamic threat.

Jim ‘dimwit’ Shitty, marrying na’r’tive women, what is nartive dummy? You are having difficulty in spelling English words?

The only folks who can call themselves natives are the Veddahs. Sinhalese came from Orissa, Tamils came from South India and Jim Shitty came from a Monkey.

Correction Sinhalese originated from Orissa and Tamil Nadu/Kerala but largely from Tamil Nadu/Kerala and only a few from Orissa. Even their DNA reflects this. Do not insult monkeys. Jimmy Shitty is descended from a grease Yakko

Muslims have been calm, not even a peaceful protest march after many shops were burnt and many mosques were attacked. Don’t lie!!! Be a gentleman even if you’re hiding behind a keyboard

To be honest as Much as most of The Muslims all over the world a except a very few with understanding and far thinking , the rest still hanging onto unworthy unimportant cultural concerns that make them identify with the ideologies of Muslim extremists and terrorists although they sincerely do not mean to or will never indulge in it, it makes them spot on and in a society where The hate and racism only is interested in twisting anything and everything they can to use as an instrument to attack the Muslims (who are to-days most persecuted and hated Christians and Jews of yesteryear )
We are so-much deeply indulged in culture that our community has lost the opportunity of education and economy . We need to concentrate on these two while gently polishing the spiritual aspect.

Today unfortunately The majority has been deeply programmed that the Muslims (Trade most integral) been monopolizing it without letting them take the major share being the majority , they have today been deeply programmed that at all cost they must make sure Muslims do not take control of trade or engage even in small scales ,that all efforts be made to crush the economy of Muslims and make them rather servants of the majority and The majority should not do business with them ,rather be the masters a very petty minded generation is being created and a illogical mindset is be Nurtured.

Equal Citizen yes like socialism on paper ,but never in reality in Sri Lanka ,to be honest they are not willing to share ,most of them even do not sincerely want to share with their own ,honestly not their fault its the programming of selfishness ,they been deeply programmed to believe all the poor of theirs is the fault of The Muslims-again to be brutally honest very much like how The Muslim minds are conditioned today, in Muslim majority countries it is the Minority’s fault or an Israel Conspiracy.

In Sri Lanka The majority wants someone to blame and keep their poor miserably poor ,so does the Muslims, where else the rich can come together and change the situation over night .

My sincere advice is for all the Muslims who have a better (Muslim nation preferably) or anywhere else to just pack up and leave while you still can . and try your best to send your talented children out of this country ,it is not worth the fight and strugle and living in fear as born citizens .

Since the Muslim Vote Bank has been traded by our politicians, the SLMC is dead. The ACMC is busy making money and covering the corruption charges and the Muslim politicians stooging the UNP are ONLY interested in their personal benefits.
For their personal gains, they will try to show the Muslims that they are the “SAVIOURS” of the community, but “DECEPTION” is what they do, all of them. Their objective is to get votes of the poor Muslims during elections. Then they “hoodwink and dupe” the governments in power (National Sinhala Parties) and get their perks and portfolios and government positions for their “henchaiyaas and kith and kin”. What has the battered Muslim Community achieved since 1956 because of these opportunistic political vultures in our society? THEY DO NOT WANT US TO THINK. THEY DO NOT WANT US TO ASK? THEY DO NOT WANT US TO KNOW A THING. BUT LIVING IN IGNORANCE WILL NOT END OUR SUFFERINGS, ON THE CONTRARY IT ONLY MAKES IT BIGGER. “THE MUSLIM VOICE” THOUGHT THAT THESE GUYS HAVE CHANGED, Insha Allah. It is time up that a NEW POLITICAL FORCE that will be honest and sincere that will produce “CLEAN” and diligent Muslim Politicians to stand up and defend the Muslim Community politically and otherwise, especially from among the YOUTH, has to emerge from within the Sri Lanka Muslim Community to face any new election in the coming future, Insha Allah. Emerging as a “NEW POLITICAL FORCE”, we will stand to gain what we are losing. WE DO NOT NEED THE SO-CALLED 2 (TWO) LEADERS OR PARTIES), THE SLMC and THE ACMC, The MCSL, The ACJU, The SHOORA COUNCIL and the SM(Media)F TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. WE as a Muslim Community can do it, Insha Allah.

“These dogs of hate roaming about in the name of Sinhala Buddhist nationalism, should be leashed and confronted without allowing them to eat into the dignity and self-respect of the minorities.”

These Wahabi pigs of hate roaming about in the name of Islam should be eliminated without allowing them to eat into the dignity and self-respect of the Sinhala Buddhists.

“Muslims of Sri Lanka in particular, with their traditional commercial mind-set, should therefore cease to be used as pushovers or punch-bags anymore ,relying merely on the magnanimity of the government in power and taking some political leaders as their champions to ensure their survival and progress.”

Guys like Lukman Harees can talk big but ordinary Muslims do not care two hoots for their BS because ordinary Muslims know very well that their survival depends on ‘Economic Power’ of Sinhalese. The ‘Purchasing power’ of Sinhalese is a lethal weapon that can be used to wipe out the Muslim economy. Harees, face the reality and keep your rhetoric to yourself.

Recently some jokers gathered in a Mosque and expressed their solidarity with Muslims, which is an undiplomatic move. While they are expressing their concern over Muslims in Sri Lanka, in their countries anti-Muslim violence is going on unabated. White hypocrisy!

Of the 137 mosques targeted in Europe in 2016, France saw the most with 60, followed by 54 in Germany, 21 in Sweden and two in Switzerland. French authorities shut down 20 mosques and prayer halls they found to be preaching radical Islamic ideology since December 2016. There are about 1700 mosques in the UK. Research reveals half of all Britain’s mosques have been attacked since 9/11 (about 700 mosques have been targeted). Immediately after the Manchester attack a mosque was torched in Oldham.

Lakmanharees:: You use a sinhala saying and say Sri lankan muslims are not karapincha. I use another Sinhala saying and say, all over the world, as well as in Sri lanka you muslims are CAMALs. YOu were allowed to put your your head during the troubles times. Now, you have silently worked to put your whole body. That is exactly what has happened in Europe too. Now, in europe, muslims are killing non-muslims. Do you remember how you people started spreading Islam all over the world. That is through conquests and forceful conversion. You are doing that right now in Africa and some countries around india.————————–On the otherhand, you destroyed Buddha Statues in Afghanisthan. So, they are getting it back.

      Jim Softy,

You are absolutely correct. King Senerath made a big blunder by not allowing Portuguese to wipe out these camels and allowing them to settle down in the interior parts of the country. When Portuguese arrived, there were no Muslims in the Eastern Part of the country. Again King Senerath allowed them to settle down there. Now these rascals claim that it is their traditional homeland. Like Tamils, these fellows also should be sent back to their traditional homeland ‘Tamil Nadu’.

      • 5
        5

Pray who was there before that? Not Sinhalese but Tamil. The east was 100% Tamil and King Senrath had to request the eastern Tamil Vanimannai chieftains to settle these Muslims fleeing Portuguese to settle in the eastern Tamils lands. as the Sinhalese in the central provinces had refused allow them to settle and started to attack them. The Tamil chiefs reluctantly agreed to settle them , as they were ethnically Tamil, despite being Muslim. Do not leave part of the history or distort it, to suit your Sinhalese Buddhist agenda.
The traditional homeland of the vast majority of the present day Sinhalese is Tamil Nadu. DNA of present day Sinhalese 70% in common with Indian Tamils. Compare this to Sri Lankan Tamils only 17% . I think you and most of the present day Sinhalese should accompany the Muslims to Tamil Nadu. They may accept the Muslims but definitely not you.

Oh really 50% of the so called present day Sinhalese like the Karwa Salagama Durawa Hunu Hali Etc are purely descended from low caste South Indian indentured slave labour that was imported into the island by the Portuguese and Dutch. You do not need links go and google and read. Most of the so called Sinhalese aristocracy both Kandyan and low country are again largely descended from South Indian aristocracy who came here as rulers and invaders. Look at all the Govigamma surnames a Tamil who is who. Bana/Bandara from Tamil Pandaran. Pilli from Pillai , Hetti from Chetti. Mudali from Mudaliar, Kone.Koon from Tamil Konar. Sekera from Sekaran . Tunge from Thungan. Peruma from Perumal. Naicke/Nayaka from Telugu origin Nayakas.

There are information that we the sinhalese should be more related to bengalis.

I am not a racist, but tamils and sinhalese behave so different from the begining on: Even if they may have much in common, they are two different ethnic groups.

This will prove you even if your efforts are to say both tamils and sinhalese are even more related.

Yes conducted by the Sri Lankan government . How can they be more closely related to Bengali , when around 50% of the present day Sinhalese are descended from recent South Indian immigrant indentured /slave labour that was imported into the island by the Portuguese and Dutch? Leave them alone what about all the immigration from South India from ancient to modern times or the original population that was Dravidian ( Naga/Yakka) already living in the island. A few hundred Bengali migrants and their Pandian Tamil wives would hardly have made any dent in the DNA of the Sinhalese. Just like the few hundred bastards a few Arab sailors would have hardly made any dent on the Dravidian DNA of the Sri Lankan Muslims. Any person with a little bit of common sense or knowledge of maths can see that study is bunkum. Half the Sinhalese population are descended from recent South Indian migrants , leave alone the others but Sinhalese are Bengali. There is nothing Bengali in the Sinhalese culture. Everything about them from food dress dance music festivals even the gods the prey. Reeks of Tamil Nadu and Kerala

May be you are not a racist but the government you worked for is only good to feed the pigs and the pigs came to the island courtesy the portuguese. your government is a pirate not fit for an island that is known for agricultural produce so you see the landslides and floods a plenty.

Even the word Govigamma is Dravidian/Tamil. Koi or Koiyuthal mean to pluck or reap in old Tamil. This is what a farmer does. Koikka in Malyalam/Kannada means the same. Even according to your Mahavamsa fable Prince Vijaya and his 500 companions took Pandian Tamil wives and what about all the people already living here The Davidian Semi Tamil speaking Yakka and Naga? Then all the immigrants and invaders and settlers who arrived from the south of India from ancient to modern times . If there is any Bangali it is long lost. The Pandian king would never have given his daughter and other Tamil women in marriage to men , who could not have spoken Tamil and to a bunch of murderers and rowdies royal or not. Unless he gave them harlots and not women of good breeding. The chances are the so called Prince Vijaya and his friends never migrated from Bengal but from the Tamil Pandian country an adventurous younger son from a aristocratic family looking for land. Bengali never had any history of sailing anywhere. Tamils did

How come 40% of Sinhalese vocabulary is Tamil? Its grammar syntax and alphabet is not derived from Sanskrit or Pali or any other Indo Aryan language but from Tamil how come? Take all the Tamil derived words from Sinhalese and there will be no Sinhalese but only Pali and Sanskrit. Why do Sinhalese eat Idiappam. Puttu, Appam like Tamils and Malayalis no Bengali food? Why do they worship Pattini the Tamil goddess for chastity and Lord Murugan the Tamil god as their war god? I don’t see the Sinhalese worshipping Durga or Durgai like the Bengali? Why do they dress like the Tamils and Malayali and not like Bengali and celebrate the Tamil New year? Sinhalese drum Udaki is the Tamil Udukai. Bera is the Tamil Parai or Para Melam. Sinhalese Berewa are descended from the ancient Tamil Pariahs. Go to Sinhalese villages they worship Ayanayake just like the Ayanar of the Tamil peasants. Everything common with Tamils and very little common with Bengal or any other part of India other than Kerala. Remember Kerala was Tamil until a few centuries ago. Whom are you trying to fool?

bullshit. you still talk on existence of tribes called naga. apart from ramayanaya nobody can believe existence of serpent worshippers in this land. this is an Island blessed with south eastern and south western monsoon rains. it is a frequent occurrence as such all kinds of animals and birds chose this island as its home for them.as such any deadly animals was controlled by nature itself . like deadly serpents or snakes were controlled by pigs, gurula mugatiya etc. as such worshipping for them for protection was not necessities. any worshipping deity was selected for one reason it is for protections. fire protected people from cold winter. as such it became deity. that is the basis for saivites. it started in south west iran and brought into south india by dravidians. here we did not want such protection. we never had cold winter here. as such fire was not a our deity. pigs protected people from deadliest snakes .like pythons.as such it became deity or yakka here. mahasona with pig head. as such do not talk bullshit.

but nagas existed in south indian coastal areas. when dravidians invasion discriminated them they came here like childrens going to relatives for protection since tribes lived here were same trait. australoids.they were accepted as king’s vassal or dasi dassans. not slaves. their duty was to look after kings needs. they were called rajakas. people those who look after kings needs and works. like permanent employees of .PWD.others had obligatory works time to times but rajakas were permanent employees. people live in east and north as low cast are from rajakas. they were not either dravidians nor original component of sinhale. they are australoids same as three components of sinhale. fourth one were migrant vijaya and clan descendants. nagas were fifth component. dassi dassan or vassals. when king rewarded for braveries or any other great works done by his subjects. lands and dassi dassan were gifted. that was how some stock of people spread all over Island. sinhale names has nothing to do with tamil language except few loaned ones from demala traders. that is natural . sinhale loaned in number of words from europeans. chinese greeks who visited our shores as traders. ..
              .

The bull shit is you not SIva. Sinhalese Kannada and Telugu extremists and hardliners do not want to accept the fact that their languages originated from old Tamil or Proto Dravidian and concocting all sorts of theories to deny this truth. 0

Proto Dravidian and old Tamil are one and the same language. 95% of the Proto Dravidian words are retained only in Tamil and no other Dravidian language. Basically they are one and the same language. You mean to state a language that was so advanced did not have a name but was just called Proto Dravidian? Tamil is the only Dravidian language that can exist without loan Sanskrit words. No other Dravidian or even Sanskrit can do that as around 30% of Sanskrit vocabulary is borrowed from Tamil/Dravidian and Munda languages. Its grammar syntax is purely Tamil/Dravidian. Tamil and other Dravidian languages only borrowed words and all languages do but they never borrowed anything else. For a language to borrow another languages grammar syntax and lexicon shoes, how much Tamil influenced Sanskrit and not the other way around. Indo Aryan is the only family amongst the Indo European family group that has the Dravidian retro flexes. This fact is not published and hidden by the largely North Indian/Brahmin based Indian establishment, as they want Sanskrit to be given prominence over Tamil..

Whatever you write or politicians do immaterial if Muslims community can not coexist with majority communities. if they want to make environment look like Arab country, and if they want to build mosques every corner and brutally kill cows.you will have problems. if Muslims want to destroy ancient monuments and build butchery chambers on them. it is not coexistence

      Ranjith,
what you have been bubbling should also be valid to the majority folks or those who work extremist in the name of saving the country right ?
Respecting each parties by each ethnic groups regardless of religion, caste , creed or whatever can only be achieved, through adequate awareness programs.
Latter have not yet been introduced adequately as we thought in the country.
The very same manner, media and media prostitutes should finally reveal the ground realities of the extremists that have been seeking their selfish gains abusing the critcal turning points in the country.

      Ranjith,
with all respect to you. If my memory is right, you once said you got your further education by being able to go abroad right ?
If they the hosting people stood against to your thoughts, would you be able to feel fine ?
Tell me that clearly ? Likewise, if we the sinhalese would permanently stay stubborn to us not thinking it right, i mean the rights about minorities, would you ever believe the peace you and I expect would ever dawn to this country ?

I wonder even ones got their education also at universtities to easily feel that we the sinahalaya the ones to enjoy rights of the country, above the others.
Your audacity to even ask them to leave the country – is beyond all shames, since I AM ALSO a sinhalese.
I would never see it that way.
If Europeans would have cornered us while living in Europe, calling repeatedly that the country belongs to them, that can only create unhappiness in us – the way they treat us. Even after we became the citizens of those countries, if they would do so, that is no longer acceptable. likewise the case for lanken minorities, even if they lived there by their birth, not yet to be recognized as the way sinlaese would feel it, it isvery unfair.
Man wake up.. leave your naga thoughts away, sorcery or any other superstious thinking can guide us to hell only.. Please learn to change your thinking.

muslims are to be blamed for taking the english language exclusively for themselves so that only they could travel from a country saddled with economic embargo. while the sinhalese were the classic panditiyas. In this world of IT ruling India is feeling the pinch after the Hindi drive just Tamil Nadu resisting the call and retaining English as the bridging language- most IT workers and inventors are from Tamil Nadu while the others happen to be the happy middle class of other states.

Not a Single Muslim Politician after late Ahsraff will ever help the community, their only concern is to fill their and their relatives bank accounts, soon you will see people who were broke to the core flying high while the poor is told make dua and everything will be okay . Only one Single man remains to be tested and its Asath Sally We need to wait and see how he will act if he is appointed as a minister ,but again a lone man how much can he do !?? Our politicians (esp Muslims ) are today curpt to the core ,their kids study in Swiss uni ,while ours can’t even afford A diploma course.

    • 2
      2

Yes, why not that Asath Sally helps the masses. His thoughts and minds sound okay. Only my question, not even a single man heartely fought to save the life of that under age girl got beheaded in Saudi 4 years ago. May be it is just, their blind belief in God made them pessimistic. I really dont know whenever they want, they make it like sharia law should be effective there, but in all other cases, they feel, the people should have been brutally punished.
As I read the profile of Asath, he is proved to be the only voice if he would train him further he can achieve it.
Else, Azwer et al and others are just traitors to lanken muslims. Azwer has no principles would do anything and everything to please Rajapakshe parayah.

Can you call this loud mouthed Muslim politician a MUSLIM.
He is NOT second to Gnanasara Thero of the BBS. What NOT has he done what Gnanasara Thero has done? His press conference statements about Gnanasara Thero is another “political stage drama” conducted to hoodwink the poor Muslim community. It is like the SOUND OF AN EMPTY VESSEL – just like the “MOUTH OF GNANASARA THERO. His political stunts/pranks were NOT tolerated by PM Ranil Wickremesinghe and he was chased away from the UNP recently. Now he has found his way to the President’s House. When President Maithripala Sirisena came to know about his political deception, he has been driven away from the Presidents residence, it is rumoured. He was in the centre of activities in the Haji pilgrimage quota allocations in 2010, where he screwed all the “Hajaathikals” thousands of rupees as a special levy that became a big scandal. He drove a “wedge” between the late Alavi Moulana and Minister Fowzi then in order to gain his dishonest goals. Just during the run-up to the Presidential Elections, he back-stabbed former Mahinda Rajapaksa, was found fault, but escaped begging pardon. It is remoured that he is suspected of having close links with the Indian RAW secret service agency. Muslims should begin to ignore this “SATAN” in the Muslim Community. He is the BIGGEST SATAN to the Muslim Community. His recent involvements in society shows he is already the biggest “DISASTER” to the Sri Lanka Muslim Community in the “Yahapalana government”.

I see a funny situation here. SomeTamils say that all of us came from India and are Tamils. If all of us are Tamils they [Tamils] are ruling the entire country why ask for a separate state. In the north and the south all are Tamils. Re. the minority problem if we do as Buddha said we can solve the problems overnight. That is to give what ever the minorities are asking for. That is what Buddha preached. May be the monks burning Mosques have not studied Buddhism.

First things first. Muslim leaders must consider removing the loudspeaker on top of the mosque. A technical solution is to give each Muslim a transistor radio free of charge. Even that wouldn’t be necessary if a smart phone could be programmed to recite the prayers with a trigger from the closest mosque. —- Soma

Ranjith ,Muslims ate not the only Community who kill Cattle & eat beef ,there are others who kill for business and eat too.

However The precepts do not prohibit eating beef ,it prohibits drinking , Try stopping that ,you will have more rich families and happy ones .

yes there are people who eat beef but not the way Muslims do.. they want to kill animal very brutal halal way. but others kill animal after stunning them.that is what i am trying to highlight here. savages way of life of Muslims.no universal brotherhood.no care for the other faiths. labba is great. that is all they know.. labba is the only one deserved to be worshiped. that is their mindset. with that mindset coexistence is an impossibility.

Soma ,what about the blasting mad music people play on the road sides ,the hiring and ofcoz in the busses and so s this mean all religious places must remove their speakers that go on sometimes for hours and where else the Muslims hardly last a minute or so? I have no issues of any religion chanting on laud speakers and am also OK for taking them of ,how about doing the same for all ?? Or you think it is justifiable that Muslin alone must be denied anything and everything others ate allowed ,even its OK for others to kill Cattle to eat ,but not Muslims ??? Strange mind some of you ppl got ,just can not understand your mindset and still you harp you ate Saviors of Buddhism , .

Lankan Nitizèn, thank you this is precisely the discussion I wanted to create. I only gave a trigger. Why I am opposed to the mosque loudspeaker is primarily the very fact you mention. It has given birth to a bigger monster.- the loudspeaker on top of the temple. I have been fighting a personal battle against maddening noise polution. I have been thrown out of long distance busses for protesting. My main target is the lodskeeper on top of the temple. You must acknowledge that under existing circumstances one cannot speak against the temple while the mosque one is in place. If we can get the Muslims to agree right along with that we can launch a campaign against noise polution everywhere. I hope I can count you in too. I can undersnd your impulsive outburst. Sorry. ——Soma

Soma, I am on the same page as you on this issue. Neither the Holy Quran nor the Prophetic Traditions nor the Tafsir (interpretations) of any Islamic Scholar advocates the use of external public address systems for the purpose of announcing the Call for Prayers (Azan) at Mosques. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I have asked my fellow Muslims as to why we continue with this anachronistic ritual that causes our non-Muslim brothers and sisters to curse our religion 5 times a day, to which they have no response. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I have asked my fellow Muslims as to whether our Holy Prophet (sal) would be happy and proud of the fact that our actions as Muslims in this regard are causing others to heap curses on our beautiful religion, to which they have no response. ++++++++++++++++++
I have asked my fellow Muslims as to whether, in this day and age when the recitation of Azan can be made available in almost all mobile phones, the announcement over public address systems is really necessary, to which they have no response. ++++++++++++++
A truly pious Muslim does not need to be reminded of the times of daily prayer. Muslims should bear in mind that while the compelling sound of Azan could be music to their ears, it could very well be considered as 3-4 minutes of sheer ‘hell-on-earth’ by non-Muslims.

There should be new law reforms on abuse sound exposure inthe country.
Be it biyagama road, or kiribathgoda, kadawath area, as no times in the past, they the shop keepers to anyone have been abusing putting their set ups louder than the bearable limits of a human ear. Decible levels have been neglected by them for some reasons over the years. This is beyond all levels in private buses. Once I had to use the normal public trasnsport (pvt) where the commuters were jam packed, but the baila music played by them were beyond all levels. There i had the guts to ask the conductor to lessen it – but none of the ones around had the courage to even ask to do so.
So in this context, those commuters to be blamed, not reacting accordingly.
Most of them are today busy with their hand phones than anything else. The picture I got to closly observe was similar to a MONKEYS got a mirror. I really dont know even on the west, people have been made no abusive with mobile phones as is the case in torn island-Srilanka.
There are no laws in action. People stay gawky (kata aeran balagena innawa – even animls would have more courage to improve their life styles than the average folks of this island)

Samuel Jayaweera .LOL ,what gives you the right to call me a Racist when it is good advice and what gives you the right anyway to say you are not a racist? today every one in Sri lanka are ,Religious hypocrites, and radicals look at every car with a buddha statue- jokers do not understand the basic spirit of This beautiful religion Buddhism , and so have the Catholics and recently LOL I saw a Muslim with a huge beard with a word Allah in Arabic inspribe on a glass plate on his dashboard.

The news papers claiming that Sri lankans are more religious are mad, the entire Sri lankan population have gone insane with religious radicalization and what I fearfully see is a boiling up of a Bosina in making .

Most people do not understand what the hidden hands are leading this nation into.

Rajapakshas wont come back, no hope of sajith as the next leader , Tamils have turned from Tigers to Pussies hiding behind the PC in foreign countries and attacking the Muslim Community filled with hate for obvious reason and as much as cowardly as their dead hero who sent out innocent civilians to commit suicide bombs and when death came to him ,he was licking and Gotas boots and begging to spare his life . Such a coward

Where have I said, that you are a racist. Anyone can be a racist if the guy would not see that we are all not srilankens.
We fought a war went on 30 years or longer.
It was all because not having being able to safeguard the rights of its citizens as is written in the books.
And looking back, even today they the ultra violent makers to allow the way they think is right for the nation should not be allowed any more.
As you too sound, we are all born into lanken religions. Buddhists have dnot chosen their religion by their own, they just have got it inherited. But some facists, extremists groups have now being kept in frontier by some extremist politcians, make their way to achieve their illful agendas.
That is becoming clear to everyone today. Be it from Baduudeen or Rajapakshe the effect on each of the religion has been the same. – which is fooling their people in order to cheat their votes.
So knowing this, we the academics should not promote any of the sort, but truthful men as our agents/representatives.
If we see some groups make every effort to sow the seeds of JATHIWADAYA as was the case with our old men, we should iron out it or make every effort to do so. Basta.

Either Kick all the fake religious NGOS out or whoever can afford or have connections and means get out , Sri lanka is sitting on a time bomb and if alerting the people makes me a racist I do not mind it- so be it.

While the Muslims are very very concerned and busy ,how long a beard must be ,how much of a women must be covered ,what age is right for marriage , how any more Mosques should be built, which sect will go to paradise ,who are the None believers among Muslims.

The enemy is happily and comfortably destroying their economy and dividing them by using their people(Muslim traitors) some are doing it purely for money who have no real love for their religion or community ,some are those who have converted to the NGO fake cult (I even have a list of names -but CT will not let me put it on and also it is not ethical to do so) and others are, who are under petticoat government of their spouses who are not Muslims. I can give you a large list, it would be like pouring water on a ducks back with Muslims, Muslims today do not posses the brilliance of past Muslim minds who followed the advice of The Quran to investigate and conclude and be united even if the Muslim leader and nation is oppressive (it has a hidden secret) . and while The Muslims are playing the flute ,the majority has awaken ,they are moving their assets and business overseas ,I salute them ,they are well informed , they know where Sri Lanka will be in two years ,,,

Not just muslims only, but all that incite violence should be warned by the law of the country.

Human beings in GENERAL would behave like animals where there is no law in action. Among us human beings, there are varied kind of people. Their representatives are the politicians elected by them. So, just to attack the politicians only should not be anymore. Lanken people are rotten by their own evils.

Entire Europe and the countries like Singapore are very strict with their law and order enforcement efforts.

BBS is the natural reaction. that is very much expected. nothing rong with it. venerable gnanasara doing his duty. whatever ords he use is very much justifiable.as your god insulted all non believers saying wild animals. as such human have every rights to react. buddhists are atheists. no faith on any god. just a myth. as such calling ‘ no any labbak of Allah here is not a offence or defamation. it is a very natural reaction to such a brutal god. if your god can call us wild animals we can call him wild ape or monkey or pig or whatever we want. that is our rights.

Nov 8, 2014 – Beef and milk are two sides of the same coin, especially in India where cattle and … Most male calves are either sent for slaughter or let loose to starve. … The logic, however, is clear: drinking milk causes as much suffering as eating meat, if not more. Indeed, milk involves more cruelty than meat does.

      Lanka Nitizen,

do you think you could move those who have long been dependent on meatig consume ?

In Europe, almost every household are dependent on Beef, Pork, various other meat sorts, and Fish.

If you are buddhist, what you can do it just respect it and go with that. Rather making effort to change the world should not be your duty right ?
I am born buddhist and would behave so, I cant change the world but I can change myself.
If buddhas teachings are clear to us the average folks in the country, I hve no doubt that lankens will have more space to find the sustainble peace for all.
Besides, the buddhism that the masses practise in our place is really not the buddhism taught by Lord buddha.

      1) If you would please just overread the comments added to various blogs on social media today, most of them are using abusive sinhala terms, but defending them as buddhists.
Buddhists I got to know during my DAHAM SCHOOL sessions backin 70 to 80ties were gentle and calm and quite displined folks. We respected buddhist monks looking at the way they stroll and behave in their today life. The respect was much higher than today they earn, since their thoughts and minds were so gentle and they were well-read personalities.
In every village, there had been LOKU OR PODI hamudhuruwo, that could listen and solve the problems of their immediate lay people, buddhist adherents. Last year, I happened to give a DANA to inviting them to our place, most of them behaved no second to the street men with low mannered behaviours.
Just becasue we were 3 min lates with the vehicle, they made a fuzz out of it.. as nothers would do.

you may be referring to european situation but our traditions is entirely different. in my native village bordering matara and hambantota districts every house has few buffaloes cattle we too had few of them. I know how delightful owners were when baby calf is born. mother was fed with kiribath on first day and baby was fed with rankiri. for few days entire milk lot is baby calf till it started with grazing. then started milking in the morning but rest of the day milking is done by baby. mother and baby looked after very well. baby always fed with cooked rice first portion of rice muttiya or container. always add extra rice to muttiya when rice is cooked. that was our tradition. my saying depend on rituals i seen as a kid in my native village. not in situation in europe. we are for modernization but not for westernization. as such we are against muslims brutalities against innocent animals..
