President Mahinda Rajapaksa says his hands are not stained with dirt or blood and adds the day they become tainted he would cut them off.
Addressing the crowd that had gathered for the rally in Anuradhapura a short while ago, President Rajapaksa said some ‘nonas’ are acting in hatred against them and are slinging mud at him, his family and the government.
“They have announced that commissions will be appointed to probe into our actions. . . What can they do? It seems they are not satisfied with the conspiracy they hatched to take us before the Hague – it seems they want more. Let them do whatever they wish – I am not scared of them!” he said.
He also scoffed at the claims being made by the Opposition of more crossovers from the UPFA to the common Opposition movement, saying he is not at all worried of such claims.
Speaking further he said that he has always honored the promises he made to the masses and added that he will continue to honor his word.
“I promised to finish the war that was being dragged on for 30 years and I did finish it in less than four years. Thereafter I promised development and you can see the development all around you. My next plan is to provide drinking water to every household in Anuradhapura,” he said.

How relentlessly Mahinda Rajapkse takes the whole credit for ending the war. Presumably, it had nothing to do with the sacrifices the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Police had to make. Vote catchers are his top rank courtiers, irrespective of the way those votes are caught. Criminals go unpunished, and even ones who were convicted and imprisoned get pardoned by this law-less President. Sri Lanka is not a safe place to live from the perception of anyone who has lived in the west. He has not acted as a guardian and care taker first citizen for the country, but uses Sri Lanka as his personal property. There is no accountability for the vast cash flow in to the country, and it is all in the hands of one family, no doubt stashed away in western bank accounts. Hope those countries goverets know what these accouts are. The disciplined adminstartion of country has been deliberately dismantled to be replaced by MRs word, dictum, his form of law and order where no one knows where he stands. I can go on and on. I used to be supporter of MR for what he did to liberate the Sri Lanka from the terrorists. But the moment he and his family started usurping the Glory for themselves, without even giving due respect to the real heroes of war, MR lost my respect. And he has gone from bad to worse, all because he fears, he is afraid to let go of his grasp. He lost the opportunity unify people under one banner. The only banner he has today is the banner of fear, under which all his goons and greey baskets flock. Reasonable people are deserting him. Sumanasekara, go tell this to your paymasters and ultimate boss.

Rajapaksa’s hands have more blood on his hands than that of Prabhakaran, Premadasa, JR and Chandrika put together.
Rajapaksa is claiming something that the people of Sri Lanka know is not true. It shows how much Rajapaksa thinks his words are believed by the people. I wonder when the people are going to wake up and see what an enormous damage this man has caused the country.

He should have cut his hand off many moons ago. He never promised he will finish off the war. On the hand SF in no uncertain terms stated given the opportunity (Political Will) he will not leave the War for another Army Commander. We do not require a President with a six year term to provide ONLY drinking water to Anuradhapura. It could have been provided before going for the early Election and delivering on the promise of abolishing the enormous power of the Presidential position.
