Namal Rajapaksa: Building A Cult Of Personality In The North

Namal Rajapaksa, President Mahinda Rajapaksa‘s eldest son and member of parliament from the Hambantota District regularly undertakes tours to the former rebel strongholds of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu to engage in welfare activities.

A few hours ago the young Parliamentarian tweeted that he had just held a book distribution drive for school children in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu.

On his official Twitter account, Rajapaksa tweeted:

Distributing school books in Mullativ and Killinochchi. I do this every year & its amazing to see their smiles”

NR tomorrow political leadershipNamal Rajapaksa also posted a picture on his twitter feed of scores of smiling school children and the school books awaiting to be presented.

Closer scrutiny of the picture reveals that every cover of the school books are emblazoned with pictures of MP Namal Rajapaksa in various outfits and poses. Some of the book covers feature pictures of President Rajapaksa at an event.

Rajapaksa who is the Government’s chief strategist of the Southern Provincial Council election to be held in March, is the most sought after endorsement by UPFA candidates. He is the particular preference of sons and daughters of ruling party politicos who are in the fray, namely Malsha Kumaratunga and Udara Lokubandara among several others.

In Sri Lanka YOUTH POLICY is all about promoting the sons and daughters of corrupt politicians!

UNDP and foreign donors should stop funding youth programs in Sri Lanka since the funds go into Namal’s pocket to enlarge his HETA (tomorrow) ! Namal is the corruption King of the Sports and Youth sectors with Carleton Spots channel to promote this uneducated moron who bought a law degree from the corrupt law college!

Youth initiatives in the Debacle of Asia are all about corruption and political patronage of the off-spring of corrupt politicians…

Yes, the youth business is political business and all donors who are funding Govt. youth programs should stop doing so.
Also these youth programs are dominated by boys and men and girls and youth women are abused and no where in politics of parliament.

UN and CHOGM youth policy is a hot air circus and talk shop for the UPFA brats like Namal and the corrupt clown Dimu Jayaratne’s son who is in the drug business!

Libral one, a question to you and all the other “parayahs” who have commented here.

Did you read about the British viceroy (in his dreas!) Rankin donating 150 childrens’ books – from 19 Downing Street of jew Cameron itseems – to Jaffna library?

What have you got to say about that, apart from admitting you are all pathetic boot lickers of foreigners?

That loot is enough for the Jarapassa clan to survive for 10 generations.

This can’t be uncle McCrae’s handy work in Killinochchi !!.

Only salvation for the poor families in Killinochi. Pudithikuruppu, Nanthikadal , Mannar, Pussellawa, Chilaw, Puttalam, Anuradapura, Vauniya Hambantota, ,or any other part of rural Lanka, is to give their kids an education, and provide them a chance to break away from the poverty cycle.

That enables these kids to get into the mainstream, get a descent job, move ahead and even join the Diaspora, which the Vellala CM , often talks about in his speeches, and portrays as a threat to his LTTE proxy TNA leader’s “Strategy” for a Separate Nation for Jaffna Tamils.

It beats police powers and land titles to the Vellalas who will be the perpetual rulers of the poor Jaffna inhabitants.

As a small time philanthropist engaged in helping poor students a little ,I can attest to the “Twitter Feeling” of this young Rajapksa.

All I say is Good on Ya Mate…And keep up the good work.

What can the Tamil children learn from the murderers, rapists, and killers. Father and sons cannot even pass a single exams. There is nothing to learn from the stupid, imbecile family. These books have to be heaped up and burnt to ashes, ideally in front of the donor!!!

Some people are born fortunates. Namal is one of them. So, no point being jealous of him as LTTE rump does here. Regardless the motives, I say, Namal is doing an excellent job by distributing books to poor children whether they are from the North or South. Keep it up Namal baby.

          1

It isn’t jealousy, it is pointing out the motives and intended result of this PR stunt he did.

He is dissemenating propaghanda, not education per see. He is trying to mold the young Tamil children’s minds to accept Sinhala domination.

        • 3

What is there to be jealous of this imbecile? If he is not the son of the “good for nothing President” he would have ended up in jail or would be begging on the street. On the other hand if he had not born into this “good for nothing family” he would have studied or worked hard and would have led an honest life and come up in life!!

The moment his dad looses power, no one will “care” for this family.
They may be able to “live well” with the stolen money, as this family does not have a conscience!!!

Iits noble when some gives unselfishly but when one gloats that they are doing this then there is certainly a hidden agenda. May be it’s my eyes playing tricks or is it Namals photo that adorns the cover of those books in the photo. What nation of jokers our politicians.

The Lingua Franca in the area is Tamil. Is this an attempt to push Sinhala down the throat of unwilling Tamil children in that evil scheme at rapid and forced demographic change. The Father, meanwhile, is busy misleading the UN and the world Tamils are being treated democratically and well?

What Rajapakse Jr should do is to distribute books (and other school equipment) in the language the
children of the area study and within the established Curriculum. This
practise of trying to force Tamils to become Sinhalese is a failed
strategy that forced the Tamil Nation into armed resistance.

Pirana and his racist writers here are jealous of Namal who appear to be doing a good job of work. Just like we had rid of the LTTE gang, we should find ways and means to convince the ordinary Tamils the futility of electing the demagogic and racist politicians as their representatives.

      • 2
        0

The Sinhala supremacist mindset of Namal and his supporters is evident because Namal is trying to brainwash young children to accept Sinhala domination.
SLFP is a racist party from the start, as its aim is total island wide Sinhala supremacy.

        • 0
          0

SLFP has many Tamil and Muslim politicians and it has no written down/publicly-acknowledged policy of working for sinhala supremacy. But on the other hand TNA has no major Sinhala or Muslim representation, they worked hand in hand with the terrorists, they are publicly stating that north and east is the homeland of Tamils and they are encouraging resolutions against Sri Lanka with ulterior motive of winning a separate state.

Yet the fools who have been brainwashed by racist grandpas and grandmas for centuries claims that SLFP and UNP are racist parties while TNA is not. These are the kind of morons that keep repeating that Sri Lankan governments mistreated tamils, while having no facts to backup their lies.

  • 1
    2

“It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…It’s Superman”. No doubt Namal works hard at it. One would appreciate such gestures if there were no pictures attached or undue publicity. Sinhala Politicians can build bridges between the two communities if they engage sincerely without publicity and fanfare.

There is no doubt that they must extend their hand to the Nothern people. Not only books but housing, water, electricity and employment. There is the NPC which must be given all the support possible. Eschew petty politics and work sincerely with elected representatives for the good of the people.

  • 7

Only complete idiots or brainwashed dummies will think that this guys efforts to “build a personality cult” among the Tamils will actually work. Good for the kids to get books – all they have to do is put covers on them!

  • 3
    1

This is cheap publicity at its best,
Then again, what is the Tamil diaspora in the West doing in raking the dollars, sterlings and Euros and completely forgotten the poor Tamil brothers and sisters in their traditional land is more disgusting.

Diaspora folks, why don’t you guys become a foster parents for the thousands of children affected from the war and help them.

    • 3
      0

“The Tamil Brothers and Sisters” dear Matilda, are still the moral
responsibility of the Sinhala Govt in Colombo that fleeces taxes from them. It is GoSL that must take care of them and develop the Tamil-
majority areas. Successive Sinhala Govts deliberately failed in this
and the gun showed up. There is still some room to make up.

The diaspora will come in a big way once real peace and reconciliation is established in but in the private smaller endeavours. But the regime takes revenge on the popularly elected NPC and the country is kept on the brink. Please don’t blame the Tamils for that. It is up to the Sinhalese to prevent the coming of Eelam is really the message that opportunistic mutt Cricketer Murali should be advising his new found friends.

Tamils overseas are trying to help Tamils in Jaffna and East in small ways. Large scale assistance is made difficult to impossible by this Sinhala fascist regime because this regime and Sinhala nationalists ultimately want to make life as miserable as possible for Tamils .

Maybe that bum-sucking Cabbarala will now change the tax laws of the country to give the Prince a claw-back repayment from Treasury funds to compensate him for his goodwill and largesse to the children of Jaffna. After all, the Prince paid from his own pocket for the books, didnt he?

    • 1
      2

“largesse to the children of Jaffna” ??? Forgive me – you don’t seem to know what you are talking. These useless books, gruesomely written, with photographs of the Prince aimed at self-promotion is best used to wrap kadalai, as people in the area do not
usually go for toilet paper in the mornings. If books is what Namal wanted to give these poor kids he should have consulted their teachers and provided educative material in their language. Using helpless kids to promote the political career of anyone is outrageous.

Educated people act differently from uneducated people. He can distribute books or parippu, it does not matter. Surely, he could have used the funds more productively like setting up cricket training camps in the North with Muralis help. That way he will also help to promote peace between the Tamils and Sinhalese by having cricket matches between the two communities in the rest of the country. But don’t know what the BBS and JHU thugs in robes would say.
