Spin the clock forward. It’s 2018. You’re four-and-a-half years older and you’ve just woken up to the headlines: more than 50 world leaders are heading to the Syrian capital, Damascus, for a global summit, hosted by President Bashar al-Assad. Syria’s at peace, it’s economy, thriving. The tourists are back and the “terrorists”, vanquished. Mr Assad is basking in golden glow of total victory. And the terrible war crimes of which he was once accused? Swept under the carpet, in the spirit of looking forward, not back. Triumphant, magnanimous, his charming wife at his side, the dictator-turned-statesman grasps the hand of the British Prime Minister, and shakes it firmly, live on TV. A huge grin splits Assad’s face. He’s back in the fold – and he knows it.

CHOGM in Colombo is a Western conspiracy to keep Sri Lanka in their fold, and they don’t care about the genocide of Tamils in the past, present or in the future.
This is unprincipled geopolitics.

Absolutely brilliant Mr Miller.
The Commonwealth of Clowns which is a British colonial relic turned platform to third world military dictators should be SHUT DOWN.
All this time no one had heard of this Colonial outfit, as it was hosted by odd African dictators, but in Asia where there has been a strong critic of colonialism this party to celebrate British imperialism and its lackey Military Dictators in Africa and Asia needs to be SHUT DOWN.
Let us start the campaign to CLOSE DOWN THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH OF CLOWNS!

Even the 2 UN Resolutions has had no effect on the Regime & its “Governance” and no signs of any kind of sympathy towards a section of
its citizens, what kind of “strong” words can come off a Commonwealth
gathering is the question.

Black Knight / November 4, 2013
Seriously… When this regime is taken down, these guys have to be given a farewell party with all the fanfare, trophies for best supporting actor for Drama, best actor for Action, best deputy minister (well Sanath already has that in the bag with the post ministry), best Gangster (another no brainier with Dumiya), etc, etc.. The most prestige award for fooling everyone (including the other actors as well) goes to this monkey hugging the Bo tree..
But I think you have to give him a clap and laugh at the same time.. Come on guys you know you have to clap him.. Can anyone in this site outplay him?? His attention to detail is second to none, and I myself sometimes start to believe what comes out of his mouth is some kind of truth.. Then I slap myself and realise I’m listening to his ass.. These days though I can see the funny side of him.. The pressure that must be in his mind is mind-boggling for me..
Imagine you are him.. Just think about it for a second.
You know you committed the crime, you know that a majority (I’m hoping) of the people know you are dishing out verbal diarrhea time and time again to cover past wrongs as well as future crime you are going to conduct.. He has to confront the whole world knowing fully that he’s dishing shit and at any second his tongue could slip.. But still he has the strength to keep a straight face and keep soldiering on.. Knowing that at anytime this smoke and mirrors game will be fully understood by the public, and his whole regime will come crumbling down.. He wins best Actor in my regard, well at lease in the APAC region.. There’s still Obama in the west who is playing a bigger role than our beloved..
I wonder how this dude sleeps at night.. Does he think about his crimes?? Does he know that knowing when it all comes crumbling down he will loose EVERYTHING.. I think he knows this very well and he will never ever ever give up this regime..
Hopefully he’s hugging the tree asking forgiveness, because he knows a human is not going to forgive him for what he and his monkeys are doing to Sri Lanka…

Black Knight – I too have often wondered about a lot of the stuff you mentioned. The stuff in his mind must be boggling and on top of it all, the paranoia that infects him and his ‘main-man’ bro can’t be very pleasant. No freedom to move around except with hoards of security personnel, suspecting most of those around him, not knowing which of them will stab him in the back, knowing that the kow-tow-ers around him are motivated by fear rather than love or respect and the fear that makes it a compulsion to seek the ‘protection’ of spirits and supernatural entities, clutching that dorje (http://www.greenkiwi.co.nz/footprints/faq/dorje.htm) in his fist for protection, etc, etc. And finally, I’m sure he believes in ‘Karma’, so I wonder how he rationalizes his actions for fear of what is to come.
What a life!!!

War is inhumane. Killing a fellow being is a sad indictment of the human psyche.
Screaming for vengeance is equally bad. Retribution is a double edged sword. It is self perpetuating. There is never a light at the end of the tunnel.
Those who scream for President Rajapaksa’s blood, take a moment to reflect. What if the LTTE had won the war? What will your scream be?
War is bad. It is better for your inner peace to forgive and forget.
/
Black Knight / November 4, 2013
Don’t think anyone on CT is asking for blood.. Although in some cases it may be valid..
I see you are still talking some rubbish about the people in charge.. What does this question mean? “What if LTTE had won the war?” Do you think this war went on for 30 years without politicians help?? I still wonder about how this war was actually finished, I got a funny gut instinct that it was very much driven by money and wealth acquisitions..

MILLIONS OF BUDDHISTS HAVE CONVERTED TO OTHER RELIGIONS AFTER THEY REALIZED BUDDHISM IS ONLY A PHILOSOPHY AND SOMETHING WHICH CAN TAKE THEM TO THE PARADISE. PEOPLE OF OTHER FAITHS TOO AGREE CERTAIN PRINCIPLES OF BUDDHISM BUT NOT FOR SPIRITUAL SUPPORT.

sach / November 5, 2013
yeah everyone in the world is saying buddhism is not suitable for this day for it comes with a set of barbaric rule system which treat women like objects and has origins in harsh middle east.
The nature it has produced terrorists are unparalleled. The way they push their under developed culture on others are equally disgusting. And about its wagon chasing, robbing murderer who thought he got a god’s messages after he had hallaucinations as a result of the bad childhood experience, the less said the better.

Splendid Words of Wisdom though coming from a BBS Rep.
I’m a Tamil and hate terrorism whether from the Tamils or from the Government Forces.
There had been 17 attacks by the LTTE upon civilians, including politicians (excluding Police and defence) and the total number of deaths are around 800 to 900.
The total number of civilians killed during the 26 years of war is over 70,000 or more and hundreds of thousands of Sri Lankan refugees fleeing all over the world out of which 130,000 Sri Lankans are still in India.
It’s 4 years and they are still afraid to come back to their Mother Land. The victims of July ’83 are the diaspora that financed the LTTE.
Who is responsible for all these? The LTTE or the Government(s) of SL?
On the 23rd of July 1983, the strength of LTTE was in 2 figures, below 100. Due to the terrorism sponsored by JR Government upon innocent Sri Lankans, the LTTE and the allied groups’ strength swelled to over
10,000 within months with Training Camps opening around South Indian Refugee Camps.
Who is responsible? The victims, the LTTE or the Governments forces.
These are recent history and it’s the fact that a section of Our Sri Lankans are being penalised since 1948 for Not Been Born Buddhists in SL. Thank you BBS Rep. for your time and the opportunity. Now;How could BBS help Mother Lanka to build a United Sri Lanka?? SHE NEEDS YOUR HELP

Mahinda Rajapakse is hostng the Commonwealth Conference not because he is an ardent fan of the Commonweath values, he is hosting it just to satisfy his
gigantic ego. He also believes, rather foolishly ,that holding the Conference he will be able to wipe the slate clean and that he wil not be charged for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. As along as we have dedicated people like Jonathan Miller and Callum Mcrae Mahinda
Rajapakse and his excretable siblings, should realise that someday they will all be taken to the Hague and charged by the International Crimminal Court.

Hey Jonathan – when can we expect a Channel 4 production about what those “terrorist” darlings of yours in Syria have been getting up to? You can just run a couple of searches on Youtube and Liveleak and your work will pretty much be done – it’ll be a far easier job than scraping the barrel to find ‘evidence’ against Sri Lanka, recycling the same garbage year after year and trying to make it smell fresh or trying to get people to care about the demise of a terrorist :)

The 23rd Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) (/ˈtʃɒɡ(ə)m/ or /ˈtʃoʊm/) will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 15 to 17 November 2013.[1] Commonwealth leaders agreed on Sri Lanka as the 2013 host for the meeting when they met in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, in 2009. They reaffirmed this decision at the 2011 CHOGM in Perth, Australia. The Leaders’ Retreat will also be held in Colombo.
This will be the first time in 40 years that Queen Elizabeth II will not be present at the CHOGM. Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, will be attending in the 87-year-old monarch’s place, as she has curtailed her overseas visits due to age.[2]
According to news reports, one item to be considered at the meeting is a proposal to make the position of Head of the Commonwealth hereditary to descendents of Queen Elizabeth II.[3] The four deputy heads may be nominated by the biennial general body meeting of the Commonwealth, on a biennial, rotating, one-time basis, to make up a leadership quintet.

This is the type of Sinhala-Buddhism the ‘highest’ in the land practices- tree worshiping!
Much easier than trying to understand and practice the teachings of the Buddha- the Dhamma.
