Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa today said that none can accuse him of engaging in revengeful politics and accused the present government of harassing not simply Opposition politicians but also their wives and children.
He made these remarks this afternoon when he and his wife visited former Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s wife Shashi who is admitted at the General Hospital.
“It is not just the politicians; even their wives and children should be protected from this government. This kind of revengeful politics must be stopped. I never engaged in such activities, no one can point the finger at me for engaging in this type of vengeful actions,” he said.
Meanwhile, NFF leader Weerawansa who also spoke to the media on his way out from the hospital after visiting his sick wife said she is currently recovering and added the extreme stress she was subjected to, due to the arrest contributed to her falling ill.

That fatal shot came from an angle and sophistication of a rifle of the caliber that even Lee Harvy Oswald (Suspected shooter of President J.F. Kennedy) would have had difficult to do unless there was help from within the premises. To this day, my suspicion has always been a military, para military or highly skilled assassin with training from the likes of the CIA, SEAL, MOSSAD or KGB would have perpetrated this crime. An internal investigation conducted at the time was a joke. Without help from any international ballistic experts to determine the exact cause or investigation, the cause of Lakshman’s murder was callously blamed on the LTTE.
