Now Trying To ‘White Van’ My Reputation – Dayan J

By Colombo Telegraph –

Ambassador Jayatilleka

“Sri Lanka Ambassador to France, Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka hit back hard at the External Affairs Ministry yesterday, claiming ‘Power hungry conspiratorial elements are now trying to ‘white van’ my reputation, instead of examining how, why and where they failed in Geneva.'”, Ceylon Today reports.

Dr. Jayatilleka was responding to the show cause letter sent by W.G.S. Prasanna, Acting Director General of the Overseas Administration Division of the External Affairs Ministry, asking why he should not be charged under the country’s Penal Code, for ‘alleged wrongdoings’ in the conduct of the affairs of the Embassy in Paris.

The alleged wrongdoings include repainting and whitewashing the Embassy and Ambassadorial residence buildings prior to the visit of External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris and providing interim accommodation for a First Secretary at a hotel until he found a suitable house.

Dr. Jayatilleka rubbished the charges as ‘crazy, rather like the Darusman report and Channel 4 combined’ and said that as the entire country knows, the minor administrative tasks are not the duty of the Ambassador, especially not of an academic who is a political appointee of the President. “My task of representing and safeguarding Sri Lanka’s national interest in France, which is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, is at a qualitatively different level,” he explained.

Dr. Jayatilleka also described the lengthy five-page letter, which had been faxed to him, as a ‘compilation and recycling’ of an anonymous petition forwarded by the Ministry in earlier months, but done in a ‘more vicious, outrageous and threatening manner. ‘

However, he said he had asked the relevant officers at the embassy to draft a response, to which he would attach a covering letter, but emphasized that all the issues brought up in the five-page letter had been responded to in detail by his mission in earlier months, when the Ministry forwarded the anonymous petition.

However, Dr. Jayailleka dubbed the move a vicious smear campaign and said, “Having lost the resolution against Sri Lanka, some elements are trying to move a resolution against me, perhaps because, by contrast, I won a resolution for the country in 2009!”

He believed there was probably resentment at the recent loss in Geneva, which sharply contrasts with the victory he helped obtain for the country at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva in 2009. “Having destroyed the solid 17 vote majority I obtained for the country, thus handing a victory to the pro-Tiger elements worldwide and making Sri Lanka vulnerable to external interference, these power-hungry conspiratorial elements are now trying to ‘white van’ my reputation, instead of examining how, why and where they failed in Geneva, ” he said.

Disheartened by the whole fiasco, Dr. Jayatilleka said he had relinquished a contract as a Senior Research Fellow at a think-tank of the prestigious National University of Singapore at which he was paid ten thousand Singapore dollars a month, because the country’s leadership and its new foreign minister requested him to return to the task of representing Sri Lanka in the wake of the challenges and danger posed by the Darusman report. “Unlike some others I have never been in jail for fraud nor have I had scandalous audit reports concerning huge sums of money spent on the renovation of official residences wherever I served,” he said.

Dayan here is an example of all those who were in the “this war is not winnable” boat.

      Dear Dayan,
There is no question that you’ve had a raw deal.We admire your services at Geneva last time out.It is a fact that there are a few at the foreign ministry who can’t fathom heads nor tails. There is no doubt that you are at the receiving end of injustice.
But do you think your reaction is what is expected of a diplomat? In stead of coming out with your versions in blogs, didn’t it ever occur to you that you should have brought these matters to your employers attention, which in this case the President? If the president fails to address your grievances, you have every right to quit with dignity. You are no ordinary”Max Silva”.You are a DIPLOMAT,from whom we expect high standards. But what we see is that you are discussing issues which you should discuss at the highest level, with jokers without names or identities in blogs.Let the likes of Max Silvas deal with such jokers. After all you are a DIPLOMAT!

Listen, You Bodi, Max, Casie etc., p.p.!The superheros of SL!

In SL there are no one at the moment who understands the politics of diplomacy.

This G.L.P, who is a prof for politics by profession, gives a statement that SL is not going to respect any of the UN resolution.
A day after GoSL takes distance from this.

This Superidiot of the GoSL, Wimal weerawamse, releases a statement about Google, Gmail etc., which GoSL takes distance after 2 days.
Everbody knows US is not Google and Gmail.

The majority sinhalese love US and not prepared to avoid their privilleges, forget about the green cards and US citizenships of Basil, Gota and Sarath F

The Superbutcher of GoSL and most corrupted Tamil, Douglas Devanda, was in Geneva, as if he is the human rights defender, took part in public meetings and he opened his bloody mouth. He made a statement in public meeting that he is going to file a case against LLRC.
How could you prove the IC you are going to implement LLRC recommondations?

This Tamara, a super depressive nanny, I feel unfair to say she is doing political prostitution, was promoted to brasil, Cuba and UN as ambassodor shows the weakness of GoSL´s incompetency.

In GoSL the right hand doesn´t know what the left hand does.

Did you learn something from Gadhafi and Mubarak?

DJ never had a political profile, he always supported the stronger. A singapore, a Malaysia can only a temporary solution

This is a beginning of a disaster

The Government of Sri Lanka publicly released the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission’s (LLRC) final report on December 16, 2011. The report called for investigations into, and possible prosecutions for, specific instances of reported cases of deliberate attacks on civilians by Sri Lankan Security Forces, reports of enforced disappearances, and reports of mistreatment of LTTE detainees. The LLRC’s recommendations related to demilitarization, freedom of expression, land reforms, and rule of law issues are also particularly significant. If fully implemented, these recommendations could provide the Government of Sri Lanka with an opportunity to promote national reconciliation and assist in revitalizing many of Sri Lanka’s democratic institutions. However, the report fails to adequately address allegations that LTTE cadres and Sri Lankan Security Forces violated IHL and IHRL during the final months of the conflict.

Sorry, I really don’t have the time to engage though I’d have loved to. Just writing to say that C Wije, JC Ahangama and that crew epitomise the lunatic fringe that has almost become mainstream, just as the Tea Party Movement has almost become the mainstream of the Republican party. I mean , look guys, just to remark on one thing that could my eye when someone sent it to me: how on earth could Uyangoda and I have been the originators of the Eelam movement in the Lanka Guardian, which was founded in 1978, when the Eelam slogan was endorsed at the Vadukkodai Resolution of 1976 and the TULF swept the North at the ’77 general elections on the single programmatic slogan of Tamil Eelam?

By the way, Mervyn’s nickname was “Andaya” not “Anda” or “Aanda”, as everyone of that generation at the university of Ceylon knew, so obviously you guys weren’t in that circle, because you just couldn’t make it, eh !

Wishing you all a happy Easter!

Oh I forgot, the Tamil New Tigers (TNT) was formed in 1972, when I hadn’t even sat my O levels; the Tamil Tigers ( LTTE) was formed in 1976, when I had just entered university. so it comes as a surprise that I was able to orginate, or be an originator, of the Eelam ideology or movement! How moronic can some of you guys get?

As for 13 Plus, my consistent position has been that while 13A may be the final Constitutional settlement, it should NOT be entertained in thispostwar period and for many years to come. Instead all I have argued for is the implementation of the 13th amendment as exists as part of our basic law, the Constitution, with mutually agreed upon adjustments (‘swaps’) where necessary; albiet with the de-merger remaining unchanged.

As for the argument that 13A was an external imposition, well, even universal suffrage ( the vote) was introduced by British colonialism, and all the Ceylonese represntatives, inclduing SWRD testified in opposition to it at the Donomoughmore Commission. Only AE goonesinghe supported it! So, are we therefore opposed to the vote? Of course not.
