Signature Campaign Surpasses a Million! Campaign marches forward to September session of UNHRC!

It has been a heartening moment for World Tamils to see that the Million Signature Campaign launched by the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) calling for Sri Lanka to be referred to the International Criminal Court (ICC) has reached its goal. This Campaign has played a significant role in internationalizing the Tamil struggle for Justice and in galvanizing Tamils around the world and their international civil society counterparts on the path to justice. With a strong sense of solidarity, we grasp the hands of all who participated in this campaign and all those who worked hard to make this Campaign such a resounding success.

An impressive 1.2 million people from around the world have endorsed this Campaign, including those who placed their signatures on paper. The number of people participating from India, especially those in Tamil Nadu, has exceeded 600 thousand. The numbers are swelling further as the momentum gathers across the villages of Tamil Nadu in this relentless search for justice.

Over 100,000 people have joined this Campaign to date from the Tamil Eelam homeland, despite living under the threat of an occupying army. The conditions there are such that no one is allowed to canvass for this campaign, nor are the political leaders there given permission to support this campaign. This demonstrates how eager the Eelam Tamil people are in demanding justice for the crimes committed by the Sri Lankan State. People living in countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and the Gulf States and in the Tamil Diaspora have participated in this initiative full of enthusiasm.

The people of Tamil Nadu have played a significant role in transforming this Signature Campaign into a mass movement it became. The TGTE Solidarity Centre in Chennai, under the able leadership of Professor Saraswathi, has coordinated Tamil activists from many walks of life including political parties, student movements, youth organizations, journalists, cinema stars and stage artistes, lawyers and other professionals, and face book users to create this remarkable development. We are thrilled to hear about the warmth and enthusiasm of the people when receiving our comrades who went around collecting signatures. We have no doubt that the strength of support demonstrated in Tamil Nadu for the demand to refer Sri Lanka to the ICC would help place some moral pressure on the Government of India. Under the conditions prevailing in the Tamil Eelam homeland, many activists have worked behind the scene to make this Campaign a success, at some risk to their lives. Likewise, it has been through the broad participation of many among peoples’ movements, journalists, artistes, students and face book enthusiasts that has made the Signature Campaign reach its target in numerous other countries.

We wish to bring out some of the fundamental reasons for initiating this Signature Campaign. We sensed a ground shift taking place in Sri Lanka following the regime change, and the risk of all of our expectations for an international investigation into to war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide against Tamils being shrunk into a simple domestic investigation. There was also a compelling argument put forward that for the reason that a domestic investigation could not be justified in this case, an internal investigation supported by international expertise would become the recommendation with the possibility of describing it as a hybrid mechanism with international credibility.

We are convinced that neither a domestic investigation nor any form of a hybrid mechanism would deliver justice for our people in Sri Lanka, and there is no political will on the part of the Sri Lankan State to do so. Under these conditions, it is the Tamil people, as a nation without a state, who would have to utilize all the power available to them and the support of the international community to take their case to the UN and the international community, and call for an international investigation in the face of an ongoing genocide. We believed that a memorandum signed by no less than one million people would offer a very strong base for the just struggle of the Tamil people, and thus the demands contained in our Signature Campaign would be something the international community in all fairness could not overlook.

There have been views expressed detracting from the Signature Campaign, arguing that the State of Sri Lanka is not a signatory to the Rome Declaration under which the International Criminal Court (ICC) was established, and therefore that this matter should be for the Security Council of the UN to discuss. Proponents of this view further state that there were states sympathetic to Sri Lanka in the Security Council who would use their veto power in order to protect Sri Lanka from any accusations, thus nullifying any gains to be made from the Signature Campaign. We have taken these aspects into account, and we are well aware of the challenges that exist in any effort to bring Sri Lanka to the ICC, and the time and effort such a process would take.

However, what remains as the first step of our strategy is to present to the UN a well-argued demand, built on our conviction and with strong support of the people, something that the international community acting according to universal human values and ethical principles could not turn down. We need to enunciate our claims clearly and boldly and we should be relentless in seeking support for our demands. Even those states hesitant about supporting our claims in the first instance could not reject the just nature of our case.

The genocidal acts committed by the Sri Lankan State can no longer be covered up. It is now known to the world and no one can deny justice to our people. We would not let justice be denied. The time would be here soon when the international community has to acknowledge that neither the domestic process of Sri Lanka nor a hybrid mechanism would deliver justice for the Tamil people. At that moment, the international community would be compelled to go towards an international inquiry. The super powers do not always exercise their veto power at the UN Security Council. For instance, China did not use its veto power in the case of South Sudan.

Today, the Civil Society organizations concerned with protecting the moral and ethical norms in society are gaining a greater influence in foreign policy relations among the international community of nations. This growing role of the civil society movement will create the conditions in our favor. There is no reason for us to ignore all these global change processes and remain idle without meaningful action.

Besides, the outcome of a Signature Campaign could not be judged simply by the stand taken by certain countries alone. This Campaign has enabled us to once again internationalize the struggle of the Tamil people, and to build a strong sense of solidarity among the Tamils around the globe towards our struggle. The Campaign has delivered a great opportunity for the world Tamils and the global civil society to forge ahead at a time when the need for the Tamils to come together as a powerful force to win their struggle for justice is at its highest.

We are making arrangements to submit this memorandum along with more than a million signatures to the UN Human Rights Commissioner soon. We shall request the Commissioner to take our demand into account in the Report that is expected to be presented by him in September this year. We will also endeavor to gain support from the member states of the UNHRC. In the event of the UNHRC recommending the creation of a domestic inquiry in Sri Lanka or a hybrid process, the TGTE shall take the struggle for justice forward in full force with the moral and political boost derived from this Signature Campaign, and drawing on the power of the world civil society movement committed to justice.

Beloved people!

We plan to take on a massive campaign to refer Sri Lanka to the International Criminal Court or to an equivalent international course, when the UNHRC convenes in September. Coinciding with this, we expect to see uprising of people’s rallies in the Tamil Homeland, Tamil Nadu and throughout the Diaspora. To add the necessary strength to our demands, we have decided to continue this Signature Campaign until September, even though we have already reached our initial target of a million signatures. We seek your continued support to move this Campaign forward with vigor. Let us resolve that our struggle shall continue until there is justice to our people.

Let us be guided by the dreams of those who sacrificed their lives for our noble cause!

Let the world Tamils forge ahead in solidarity until we win our freedom!

Thirst of Tamils is Tamil Eelam.

    Rudrakumaran,

Launch a campaign for the completion of the Jaffna River Project and bringing Mahaveli waters to the Irranaimadu Tank.
These are what Tamils living in the North need urgently now. Further, collect funds for this project and send them to the NPC CM’s fund.

    Will you?

No chance doc. Water? To Jaffna? Do you think I have nothing better to do? I am far too comfortable in the West. My leadership of TGTE gives me the self importance I need. Oh I know it will never happen but you can’t blame me for living on the delusions of others.

Dear Mr. Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran – PM (sic) – TGT Eelam (sic),

More importantly your call has been REJECTED by 98.2% of the Tamil Speaking people of Sri Lanka.

        Is that not Ignominious?

What is the POLICY of your govt (sic) towards Ms Adele Balasigham, a war criminal, who trained and Commissioned at least a 100,000 TAMIL Children, as soldiers, for the LTTE (most of who are dead), which is a GRAVE War Crime under the Rome Statute.

These children were ABDUCTED and FORCIBLY taken from their Tamil parents.

According to the UN, even the number 8000 is minute. Please see the BBC interview with Mr. J Aguilar of UNICEF for confirmation. Watch from 3:28 onwards http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gXbFPoDWSI

Mr. Aguilar says that they have reports of about 8000 missing children. He also states that this is just a minute fraction of what went on (4:20 onwards). He also states that during the last 6 months at least 200 children per month were taken from their parents for the war effort including 9 year olds (4:38 onwards).

From the above, it can be seen that, Ms Adele Balasigham is responsible for training and commissioning at least a 100,000 Tamil Child Soldiers in the time span of three decades. Many of them are now dead.

If you have not seen her supervising the commissioning by awarding a cyanide capsule this video will enlighten you.

In the video footage below, Adele and Anton Bala explains what the cyanide capsule symbolises. The video shows Adelle participating in commissioning new recruits by decorating their young necks, with a Cyanide Capsule Necklace. It leaves no room for doubt about Adelle’s War Crimes.

        .
I hope you can enlighten us, as your colleagues TGT Eelam Senators, Ms Usha S Sri-Skanda-Rajah and Mr Manicka Vasagar from whom the same question was asked, is observing a Deafening Silence on the matter.

        Kind Regards,

            Dear Kali,

            What do you say?

Should Ms Adele Balasigham, a war criminal who has committed GRAVE WAR CRIMES as defined by the Rome Statute be arrested from her residence at New Malden, UK and taken before the ICC?

She has played the Leading Role as the Commander of the Baby Brigade and has sent at least a 100,000 TAMIL children to their Death. She has aided and abetted their forcible abductions from the protection of TAMIL Parents.

Their is no shortage of evidence and I have provided Mr Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, a colleague of Ms Adele Balasingham, a UN estimate of the magnitude of the Crime and Evidence of the Crime itself.

The way you rush in to wash and clean the fecal matter of Mr Rudrakumaran, who himself is one of the few living leaders of the LTTE, makes us wonder what position you held when Prabahkaran was living.

I have requested Mr Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, the Leader of the TGT Eelam, to state Publicly, the Policy of the TGT Eelam, about a KNOWN War Criminal, who is living in luxury in her 4 bedroom house at New Malden, UK, under the Very Nose of the TGT Eelam.

I asked the same question from TGT Eelam Senators, Ms Usha S Sri-Skanda-Rajah, Dr. Brian Senewiratne and Mr. Manicka Vasagar. All of them has been SILENT, perhaps they were IGNORANT of official TGTE Policy.

Unless you are Authorised to speak on behalf of the TGT Eelam by the Head of the TGTE and that authorisation is made public through their official website, you should await the Policy Announcement By Mr Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, the Leader of the TGT Eelam.

So far the War Criminal Ms Adele Balasingham has failed to show up in the TGTE Radar. Why? Is the TGTE PROTECTING LTTE WAR CRIMINALS? Is the TGTE the new face of the LTTE? It certainly is headed by a man who was a member of Prabahkaran’s INNER CIRCLE of the LTTE.

            Kind Regards,
            OTC

You have no idea what a war crime investigation is. You just did not kill 100,000 children with Chemical bombs, you murdered more than 500,000 Tamils in 5 months. That is Genocide.

You are hiding under you cocoon to escape from the investigation. You can hide in your cocoon, but the Old Royal can not hide. When Ms Balasingham meet them in ICC, she tore off their Kandian white loonky and the red cloth piece.

RE:Our Struggle Will Continue Until There Is Justice To Tamils

Who is a Tamil? A Para-Deshi fro India, a Para in the Land of Native Veddah Aethho. The same is true for Para-Sinhala and Para-Muslims(more or less).

LTTE was a Terrorist Organization that Carried out War Crimes.

      TGTE is the Refurbished LTTE.

Justice To Tamils? Lets see how The Tamils gave Justice for Tamil speaking Muslims in the North. Double Standards.

The Evicted and Displaced North Muslims of Sri Lanka. The expulsion of the Muslims and other nations from the Northern province was an act of ethnic cleansing carried out by the Tamil militant Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) organization in October 1990. In order to achieve their goal of creating a mono ethnic Tamil state in the North Sri Lanka, the LTTE forcibly expelled the 72,000 strong Muslim population from the Northern Province.

Because their agenda is not to upgrade the living standards of fellow Tamilians in North or bring them the so called justice but create an ealam. Their grievances-turned-aspirations for nothing but to undermine sinhala buddhist heritage in SL.

Our struggle will continue until there is justice, accountability and a permanent political solution for our Tamil Homeland, guaranteed by the International Community FIRST.

Coming soon via the ICC and the Haque.

The Tamils are more than capable of building Tamil Eelam into an small prosperous economic HUB.

A campaign for funding ( Tamil Eelam Development Fund ) to commence 50 key projects is in the offing anytime, including your river, if we are left alone to plan and manage the environment with sustainable development.

This is the main worry for the so called half smart racist paras, deliberately trying to divert and deviate from the truth, with idiotic talks. Live and let live, or get buried with shame.

“Our struggle will continue until there is justice, accountability and a permanent political solution for our Tamil Homeland, guaranteed by the International Community FIRST”.- International Community doesn’t guarantee Foolish projects and failed projects..

So you are struggling we can see – Keep struggling- If you enjoy struggling consult a psychiatrist

“Coming soon via the ICC and the Haque.” – Are you also referring the Tamils who ethnically cleansed the north and chased all the Muslims overnight. Recruited child soldiers, used suicide bombers kidnapped killed exhorted and confiscated wealth and property to ICC or Hague.

“The Tamils are more than capable of building Tamil Eelam into an small prosperous economic HUB.” If so why did they lose the awr and made hundreds of thousands of people homeless landless parent less and lifeless. Manika it is not a HUB it is a Humbug

“A campaign for funding ( Tamil Eelam Development Fund ) to commence 50 key projects is in the offing anytime, including your river, if we are left alone to plan and manage the environment with sustainable development.”

What happened to the billions already collected cant you use them for these projects

“This is the main worry for the so called half smart racist paras, deliberately trying to divert and deviate from the truth, with idiotic talks. Live and let live, or get buried with shame.”

When half half fools talks nonsense with half truth half brain half history half smarts have to come forward to recuse the Tamils from this so called Toy government which is not even endorsed by half of one hundredths of the Tamil people.

Manika you are there because you are a half – not a full Tamil. you are half here half here half nowhere. You speak because this is the only people who will be allowed to speak because they don’t have any good people who can speak . That is all. Use your half brain half time and half life usefully then you can do at least half good for the Tamil people half of them have already perished because of an experiment you carried out by half people you know who.
Half brain is good enough to learn and correct yourself. – If you go at least half way it will be great. Good luck

      Rajasingham,

The bona fide of your intent in so abruptly championing this initiative deserves some degree of credibility check, and that need arises mostly because of your own history on propositions such as your “Teach Tamil to all Sinhalese” initiative as the urgent and only way for reconiliation, to take an extreme example.

Let me make one point clear – I am not challenging the need or urgency to address the drinking water issue caused by the recent, intentional or other-wise, sub-soil contamination, or even the irrigation needs of the region.

My question is about your sudden adoption of the issue, and the reason behind your rocketing that as the single most, head-line issue. Could you please let us know your previous (prior to July 13th when OTC began the ball rolling on this) writings on the water issue as the top-priority concern?

Also you could perhaps illuminate us on your “instructions and advise” to MR and Gota on the water issue during the five years or so when you were relentlessly drum-beating on their “tourist hotel” projects that seemingly left you wide-eyed and coy.

Additionally, your plea for urgent Diaspora funding to the CM also strikes me as rather odd, given your recent unrestrained condemnation of the performance of all officials along with the CM as grossly incapable, indifferent or corrupt! Shouldn’t that issue be then resolved first before the Diaspora sets in motion a deluge of funds at your call?!

You are neither here or there. Why do you want Mahavali waters to the North when there is no land and the Army has taken over the lands, for one, and the other the Sinhala politicians , since 1947 did not want to share power with the Tamils, will they share waters with the Tamils. Please, our Tamils are not thinking right. What could TGTE do to the Tamils by having an organisation which is not recognised not even by one country. Don’t you think that they are just self seeking propagandist and not anything solid to benefit the Tamils. The Tamil Globe Forum is another organisation. The Tamil politicians in Sri Lanka is another headache to the Tamil Race. They are not sincere towards the Tamil people. One displaced refugee was on the media and asking Sambanthan, when he can get lands in Sampoor released, as to why he did not get the lands released in Vali North. For the Tamils in the North, Vali North,is an important portion of land and the Road from Point Pedro to Ponnalai is crucial.

        Sellam,

The people living here, the lands they cultivate and the land that can be potentially reclaimed need water.

The army and the land occupied by the army are largely irrelevant to the spectre confronting us.

CM was in the USA. Last week. First he met the US law legislators. he was categorically told by the State Department for foreign affairs to drop his Genocide rhetoric.
Then he met the Tamil diaspora who offered fund for the development of NE. The CM refused to receive any funds from the diaspora directly. He asked them to send it via the Govt of Sri Lanka. The CM said he doesn’t want to be painted as a four legged animal with stripes , and he was not referring to a zebra, getting funds from the diaspora

        Dear Rajash,

In Tamil “Pirapakaran oru payangaravathiyalla. Avar Thamil Inathin Viduthalikkaaha Poaradiya oru Maha Veeran”
        .
In English “Prabhakaran is not a terrorist. He is a great hero who fought for the freedom of the Tamil people”

That was from CM Wigneswaran’s speech. He had painted himself as a Tiger and has not left any room for doubt.

Unfortunately CM Wigneswaran is not the same man who earned admiration and respect for his forthrightness as a Supreme Court Judge even from the Sinhalese. Today he is playing to the Gallery and losing the respect of many THINKING Tamils.

I too was happy when he won and hoped he would be able to bring some sanity to the TNA but that hope was in vain.

No doctor, let’s wait until September and subsequent ICC sessions are over, sinhala side is duly punished and reconciliation between Sinhalese and Tamils are fully established before we talk about sharing natural resources.
There is yet another aspect to this proposal. CM/NPC will have to choose between water from areas outside North and East and land rights to provincial councils. Once granted resources of those areas will be the exclusive property of the respective PCs and the central government Will have no authority to implement projects of this nature.

They should also fight to have more educated Tamil professional in the countries Gov. bureaucracy – Public sector should promote people on merits but not on nationality

They should fight to include Tamil/ Sinhala as a compulsory subjects in our school curricula

Racist talk and acts should be considered as criminal offences

Why? to use the Sand dug out puddle to make as canals and make money out of that too?

What the people will do if the poison was mixed in the water the same way oil was purposefully mixed with it? What will happen as the way food and medicine was refuses, if the barbaric government is not letting water to flow though the pipe. Can give you a guarantee on that?

If you paint your drawing on your thigh you can not show it to others. Tamils needs a wall to draw their paintings. UN has to send the troops in first to guarantee the safety of the Tamils.

The signatures of the people in the North and East is what counts. This was a very small percentage of the Tamil population in Sri Lanka. The rest of the signatures are from the Tamil diaspora living comfortably in the West.

Nothing will happen by taking these signatures to the UN. Any resolution by UN will make it more difficult for the Tamils living in Sri Lanka.

As the Prime Minister of TGTE , Why didn’t you come and contest the elections in Sri Lanka next month?

The signatures should be restricted to Sri Lankan Citizens or Passport holders only over the age of 18 who are eligible to vote.

    Dear Sir.
I agree Tamils have suffered a lots. Yet. Your problems would not be solved as quickly as you think. Why?
please first get rid of your cast system.
It is racism . It is discrimination. It is inhumanism?
How could you devide people on basis of what they do?
Untill you and your community do this your problem will be there..
Look how you look down Baticalao people? Why Karuna split?
It is nothing but cast system
Today A lot of Tamils like to live under Singhalse than under Tamil cast system
it hurts people feelings than all what you give them?
So Untill day of judgment you do not solve your problem till you change this

Well said pal. It is racism. They talk about Racism of Sinhala, and yes it is there.

The Writer Izeth Hyssein has been touching on the racism of the Tamils to other communities, and thy have racism within the Tamils. See what they did to the Tamil speaking Muslims, who are mostly Tamil stock racially, paras from India like the rest, in the land of Native Veddah Aethho.

    Rudrakumaran,

The timing of this article tells me that you want MR to regain power! This is a well calculated move because RW/MS combination will resolve the Tamil question within United Sri Lanka; you do not want this, right? Eelam is only possible with MR back at the helm.

    • 2
      2

It is NOT timed with MR contesting, rather with Mangala & Co. wanting a “one-time” UN
postponement; as they appeared to have a solution in their pockets! The TGTE movement
created by Sri Lankan Politics willy-nilly is on its forward march despite all our comments in CT. In the long run, SL will stand to benefit over-all should this
      issue to settled for once.

“The political system of unitary form of government facilitated by the majoritarian democracy yoked the Tamil people to face the full fury of the state power that was fully subordinated to the advancement of the chauvinist cause. The subsequent events not only shattered the dream that was carefully projected before independence as nation of many smiling faces and serendipity, but also as one that would collapse under the weight of strife and discord in the future. Every attempt was made using state patronage and resources to justify and promote the agenda of the Sinhala race for the total domination of the island. The official versions of culture, history , archaeology, census were projected so as to legitimise the agenda. “

“It is time, Sinhalese people should bring themselves to recognise the rights of Tamil people for statehood and come forward to hand over Tamil homeland for self rule in a dignified and honourable manner by restructuring Sri Lanka as a union of two equal statehoods of Tamileelam and Sinhala Ratta. Such arrangement will lead to a united Sri Lanka and provide for the self preservation and prosperity of the two nations with respect for the equal rights of everyone. This will secure and consolidate the united Sri Lanka we all yearn for and will be proud of. This will lead us into a prosperous and respectful nation in the eyes of the world.”

          Dear Anpu,

The author of your quote has written what he cannot prove. Simply speaking it is Separatist Tamil Political Rhetoric not worth the paper it is written on.

          Here is an example.
          .
Extract from your quote “The official versions of culture, history , archaeology, census were projected so as to legitimise the agenda. …… recognise the rights of Tamil people for statehood and come forward to hand over Tamil homeland for self rule in a dignified and honourable manner by restructuring Sri Lanka as a union of two equal statehoods of Tamileelam and Sinhala Ratta”
          .
The author has failed to define the boundary of Eelam.
You need to ask yourself why.
          .
In the distant past this Island was known as “Thun Sinhale” or “Tri Sinhale” and had three Kingdoms, Ruhunu Maya and Pihiti. Here is a quote from Dr Sujit Sivasunderam, a TAMIL intellectual of repute.
          .
“In the kadaim books, Tri Simhale, which denotes the entire island, is divided into three principalities or kingdoms, namely Maya, Pihiti and Ruhunu. The oldest kadaim book, Sri Lamkadvipaye Kadaim, divides the entire island into 114 ratas or countries; Maya has 28 ratas, Pihiti has 43 ratas and Ruhunu has 43 ratas. Boundary pillars mark off the limits of particular ratas.” (quoted from Dr Sujit Sivasunderam)
          .
          Kadaim means Boundary.
          Tri or Thun means Three
          Simhale refers to Lanka.

This was Lanka in 1724 AD and the map is reposed in a Dutch Museum. Needles to say, the Dutch will not allow the Sri Lankan Govt to alter it.
          .
          http://www.atlasofmutualheritage.nl/en/Map-Ceylon.5852
          .
It clearly depicts the BOUNDARY of the Dutch controlled Tamil kingdom subjugated by the Portuguese and who were subsequently subjugated by the Dutch. As you can see the Tamil kingdom did not extend beyond Elephant Pass in the East.
          .
The Archeological record available at the link below is protected by the Dutch govt. It corroborates the Dutch Map of 1724 AD given above.
          .
          http://www.atlasofmutualheritage.nl/en/Elephant-Pass.813p#Details
          .
It very clearly state that Mainland Lanka, South of Elephant Pass in the East, was the Sinhala Kandyan Kingdom and in order to protect themselves from the Kandyan Kings Army they had erected a fort at Elephant Pass.
          .
Only a blabbering Fool will claim That the Govt of Sri Lanka has manipulated Archeological information preserved by the Dutch govt.
          .
There was a time when information such as the above was difficult to find and remained obscure. That was the time when Separatist Tamils had a field day concocting History and blaming everything on the Chronicle Mahavamsa.
          .
The Internet has changed all that and formerly obscure documents are becoming easily searchable and accessible. There may be more that are not on the Internet. The dastardly LIES that were propagated by the Separatist Tamils are getting exposed to the world. Sangam.org, your favourite web site for propaganda, is just that, a repository for putrid propaganda.

Truth has a way of bobbing to the surface.

          Kind Regards

I agree with you that Eastern Province had never been part of the Jaffna Kingdom before the Portuguese came.

Of course, Tamils lived as the majority in the Eastern Province and were ruled by Tamil chieftains who owed their allegiance to the Kandyan Kings. Kandyan Kings used to visit these areas periodically and the place called Padiruppu (derivation of the word “Pada Irrupu”) was known to be where the Kandyan Kings had their periodic courts in Batticaloa meeting their subjects.

I heard that a direct route from Batticaloa to Kandy that existed during those times was recently discovered proving that people from Batticaloa and other parts of Eastern Province used to visit Kandy to transact official business there in the courts of the Kandyan King.

It is also a fact that Muslims came and settled in parts of the Eastern Province that side of Kalmunai when they were welcomed by the Kandyan King and allowed to settle in those areas when they were targeted by the Portuguese because of trade rivalries. Muslims who settled in those areas became tenant farmers growing paddy on lands owned by Tamils from villages like Kallady adjoining Batticaloa town. Some of these Muslims became owners of these paddy lands only after Bandaranaike enacted the Paddy Lands Act which placed ceilings on ownership of paddy lands.

However, it is known that most Muslims who now live in areas like Kattankudy closer to Batticaloa town settled down there having come from traditional Muslim pockets like Keelakarai in Tamil Nadu by boats. They were mainly brought there by Tamil sailors who transported merchandise between the East and port cities like Nagapttanam.

Tamil Eelam propagandists started propagating the canard that Eastern Province was part of the Jaffna Tamil Kingdom only to reinforce their theory that North East was a separate Tamil Kingdom. Some Tamil Eelam historians have re-written the history of Eastern Province at the urging of the LTTE having been funded by the Tigers to re-write the history by denying the fact that East was part of the Kandyan Kingdom.

      Burning Issue,

You are absolutely right. This is the game the extreme elements on both sides of the communal divide have played all along. It is time we understand this game of divide, scare , let blood flow and rule,

The Jaffna River Project provides an alternative vision to bring the people together for a noble cause that will help the Tamils and hence the country. It is an investment for the well being of a people, who also beling to this country and harness their contribution to make the whole country prosper. The North, particularly, the peninsula is thirsty for water, What better path to reconciliation than quenching that thirst!

What Rudrakumaran and his ‘ pie in the sky ‘ TGTE represents is the Tamil extreme and Tamil ignorance. It is the mirror image of the Sinhala extreme and ignorance, that is reprented by several individuals and groups, who are lying relatively low now. The mood in the country is different now. A new generation free from the fears, prejudices and phobia of the past has come into being. The Tamils, the vast number, who do not belong to the extreme, should understand this situation and take advantage of it. This mood for change is yet quite fragile and has to be nurtured with tenderness and much care.

The only justice that Tamil people who live in Sri Lanka gets is if you stop interfering in their lives. Stop being a busy body, stop exploiting Tamil diaspora’s sentiments as a sure means of generating revenue for yourself and your henchmen and blackmailers. Just stop becoming a parasite hanging on to your own peoples backsides. Be a useful citizen in the US where you have settled down. Dr Shasi Tharoor of India makes the case for compensation/reparations from Britain for what it did during the colonial period. His speech applies equally well to Sri Lanka.

However he makes NO reference to the damage done to Sri Lanka, Fiji, ‘British’ Guyana etc from the demographic changes it carried out during the Raj. Can these be quantified ?

It is simple— without political freedom can not achieve economic freedom . River will not flow without political freedom. Perhaps the rivers might flow red again. If there is no freedom there is oppression and enslavement. Can you achieve a reasonable socio economic status for the plantation workers who are suffering for more than ten generations. Without political freedom there is no security. That is what happening to Tamils for the last 65 years. All the anti tamil pogroms are state sponsored because They did not have any security. They do not have anything to defend them. What is happening in the sea and waters around all exploitation. depriving the people of the land. Only depleted resources and polluted water will be left. People should be able to have their say. Is it happening now One unfriendly security Personnel for every 7 civilians. That is the reality. The amount of pheromones released in the environment and it effects???

Ask a man/woman who is thirsting for good quality water in plenty drink and water his/ herlands, who has difficulty feeding his/family family, who finds it impossible to send his/her children to school, has no proper home to live in and has no meaningful employment. Ask the poor and downtrodden, what their problems are? Ask the war-battered what their priorities are! A large segment of People in the north and east need other very mundane things as a priority , now,

      You will have your answer.

They will also tell you they donor want any more turmoil, bloodshed , violent deaths and dispossession. They have had enough of politics, the politicians and militants and bad governance we have had. They have heard plenty of rousing ans emotive words and are sick of it. They want their mundane, day to day problems of sheer existence solved.

Do not offer them unviable dreams as a substitute for substance.

        Dear Pacs,

What is more important than Water for any living thing?

What is more important than Fresh Water to a population that has to drink Salty Water day in and day out?

Obviously you are not living in the North and experiencing the problems they have.

Even today, water is segregated in the North.
Not long ago you had Clean wells with clean water for the Rich and Powerful which the people you are pining for, the underclass were prohibited. This has been the situation for millennia which even a cursory look at the Internet will reveal.

Have you forgotten how the Tamil Ruling Class Oppressed the Tamil majority?

Please enlighten the readership by describing the “FREEDOM” that the enslaved Tamil Majority had in Jaffna.

And you shamelessly say “If there is no freedom there is oppression and enslavement”

Quote “In Jaffna in the 1940s and 1950s, for instance, minority [sic] Tamils were forbidden to enter or live near temples; to draw water from the wells of high-caste families; to enter laundries, barbershops, cafes, or taxis, to keep women in seclusion and protect them by enacting domestic rituals; to wear shoes; to sit on bus seats; to register their names properly so that social benefits could be obtained; to attend school; to cover the upper part of the body; to wear gold earrings; if male, to cut their hair; to use umbrellas; to own bicycles or cars; to cremate the dead; or to convert to Christianity or Buddhism” Unquote (W.R. Holmes, Jaffna (Sri Lanka), cited by Gnanapala Welhengama, Nirmala Pillay in The Rise of Tamil Separatism in Sri Lanka: From Communalism to Secession)
        .
Is that the freedom that you are PONTIFICATING on?
        .
People like you have led the Tamils to destruction like the Pied Piper. Open your eyes and do something for them that will really help alleviate their day to day problems.

You wrote “Can you achieve a reasonable socio economic status for the plantation workers who are suffering for more than ten generations”

The Plantation workers came to work for the British because even the deplorable conditions and pay they were offered by the Brits was like manna from Heaven compared to their life in the Tamil South India.

They are ALIENS who came of their own accord for economic reasons. They came here to ESCAPE the OPPRESSION and SUFFERING they underwent as UNTOUCHABLES in Tamil India.

Those who suffered were the Native Sinhalese whose Lands were dispossessed and their Livelihood deprived by enacting and enforcing Draconian Laws such as the Waste Lands Act, Crown Land Enforcement Ordinance, Land Settlement Ordinance etc. and domiciled Indian Alien Tamils on them reaching a Peak of 1,174,606 in 1971.

Where did all those aliens Live?
Certainly not in the Tamil North.
They lived in the Sinhala Hinterland.

This is the REAL colonisation where Aliens are Domiciled after EJECTING the Native Sinhalese

It is the Sinhalese who have suffered since the British enacted the “Prevention of Encroachments upon Crown Lands Ordinance No. 12 of 1840” preventing Land use for the Natives. Remember that ALL LAND belonged to the King before the Kandyan Kingdom was ceded by Treaty and it is this Land which the Sinhala peasantry Farmed and Lived.

Is your Humanity reserved for Tamils?

From 1840 to date those Sinhala peasants who were dispossessed have suffered untold misery.

“According to the 1946 census on population in the agricultural sector of the island, 40% of the agricultural peasant families found in the former Kandyan Kingdom were landless while there were 26% landless agricultural families recorded in the wet zone” (Herath 1995: 79).

Today there are over a million destitute Landless Sinhalese in the Hill country. It is they who have suffered for Centuries. It is they whose suffering needs alleviation before anyone else.

Given the centuries of OPPRESSION and ENSLAVEMENT practiced on the Lankan Tamil population of the North, your professed sympathy with the UNTOUCHABLES of India who have been traditionally considered social outcasts a status even below that of the Oppressed Underclass of the North, smacks of Political Rhetoric and UNBRIDLED hypocrisy.

        Kind Regards,

The IDIOT Mallaiyuran is Ranting again

Quote “This practice of caste exclusion gave rise to violent incidents in the 1960s and 1970s directed against high-caste Jaffna Tamils. Trade and industry and jobs in government service remained the monopoly of the upper-caste groups and attempts by the Pallars and Nalavars to improve their position resulted in violence, long drawn out hartal, and in extreme cases, killings by both high-and low-caste Tamils. Any sign of upward mobility by untouchable groups was quickly suppressed and repressive social customs were enforced through intimidation and violence. Vellalas often fielded thugs to punish attempts by Pallars or Nalawars to improve themselves, forcing them to conform to the social stratification. According to Pfaffenberger ‘Minority Tamils who attempted to raise their position would find their communities victimised by Vellalar-organised gangs of thugs, who burnt down properties and poisoned wells” unquote (Pfaffenberger, ‘The Political Construction of Defensive Nationalism’)

You said “young girls murdered planting bombs in their private parts after gang raped” Ha ha haa, How big was that bomb? Could not have been an artillery shell! This is the ugliest form of an immoral Kandian Sinhala Intellectual villain’s laugh! It does not just hurt the Tamils who suffered through the Sinhala Intellectual army’s tortures and rapes (there are thousands links available in the YouTube showing how the Sinhala Intellectual army tortures; everybody show it- no point in me attaching it here again), it hurts the entire human civilization. It’s not the laughs show who these births are but, when these Kandian Sinhala Intellectuals like Off Tragic Cases ask for the size with the nasty intention of tracking into dirty fantasy his opponents with whom they cannot stand on debate, they fully expose them how they enjoyed their worst heinous crimes deeds when they did it. This is why NPC CM passed a resolution requesting the International Community to investigate the brutality of the Sinhala Intellectual army. Allowing the Sinhala Kandian Sinhala Intellectuals to investigate themselves will only enable them ruminate and re- chew the cud. CM led the resolution in the NPC and he stands as another hero as a night mare to the Sinhala Intellectuals.

Sir.Pon. Ramanathan risked through the 1st world was fights to save his friends. The return of the Kerala Mercenary soldiers who converted as the Kandian Sinhala Intellectuals first deported the Tamils. Then killed Tamil in the 1956, 1958, 1961, 1977,1981, 1983 and with a genocide killing 100,000 of children and another 500,000 of the Chemical bombs. Vijeyan, a deported an illegal immigrant married Pandian Royal girls and ensured a status in Lankave. You implemented Free education to nationalise the Tamils school and eventually to be occupied by army. You forced the Tamil to go on ration card life from 1960s. you stopped Tamil entering University by the standardization. I am one who could not go beyond high school in Lakave.

        Rajasingham,

Your feigned sanctimony sees no bounds!

You now state “Ask the poor and downtrodden, what their problems are? Ask the war-battered what their priorities are! A large segment of People in the north and east need other very mundane things as a priority , now,”

A year and a half ago you were convinced that MR had completed at least 75% of what he promised Tamils. You were in fanatical awe of the Tourist hotels that had mushroomed in Jaffna under Gota’s command. You wanted all Tamils to be grateful to the Hambantota Royalty – and you pleaded to divert their Diaspora remittances that were family-bound to, instead, fill up Rajapakse coffers?

Did you ever have the time to ask any questions from the “Poor and the downdrodden…” then while basking in the luxury hand outs MR was making out of the public and aid funds stolen from that same “Poor and the downtrodden”?

“Holier than the Pope” pretentions now is just hollow – has no trace of sincerity about it, never mind how loud and frequent you want to preach and pontificate!

      Dear Pacs,

What has been colonised is the Sinhala Hinterland of the Hill country and the colonisers were the British while the settlers were Alien Indian Tamils and the evicted were Sinhala peasants.

Please show where else COLONISATION has occurred.

      Pacs,

“All the fertile areas with water facilities have been colonised.”

Not true at all. A lot of fertile land with wells has been abandoned because the owners left Jaffna or are unable to cultivate due to old age. Another big problem is the lack of people willing to to work as farm laborers. I do not understand from where the coconut and rubber plantations in the South find their workers.

I believe that traditional agriculture in Jaffna is very rarely profitable.

The only colony I have read about are the 3000 people somewhere in Mannar District that Gota sent there.

The Sri lanka needed thoughtful political and national leadership to deal with Tamil terrorist with underlying separatism reflected by remnants of LTTE ruthless terrorist in Globally.

A anarchist deviant Tamil separatist ideology on the rise of ugly head is real security vulnerability in the highly integrated global civilization and its democratic order.
Instead of Sri lanka got unthinking reactions ham-handed responses and a rejection of democracies analysis in favor of received wisdom of ours 2600 years civilization of our People.
It has left us less secure. We will pay the high price for a long time if we unaddressed sovereignty and Territorial Integrity issues.
The LTTE hidden threat of split and divided an Island that we can defeated with arrest and detention along.

We must work with majority Tamil masses and political class that not belongs to chauvinists few handful to but that created an active alternative to the popular democratic task to be prevent Tamil Terrorism and accommodated national minimum democratic reforms goes to root cause Tamil liberation by feudal hegemony of foreign back leaders of politician of Tamil puppets. It is not something that we all Sri Lankan nationalities can do in a year or even a decade.
So-called exile Tamil puppet junta installed by foreign soil which that funded by proxies forces, as well as GTF and WTC are another outfits encoring and aided by invasion and occupation of North-east land of Sri lanka. We cannot be lulled into thinking we have to deal with no majority leaders no longer for some time. Or because there there has no major terrorist attack for some time.
The exile Tamil terrorist recruitments goes on, aided by Tamil terrorist penetration into North by blessing of CM of North council by legal coverage.

Time is slipping by in which the New Exile Tamil govt. follow of Tamil Terrorism are gaining in strength in scores by ongoing UNP -Ranil, MS and CBK junta regime Island.

But yet our vulnerabilities on attack on our valued Democracy at home by Tamil terrorism remain. Well that Sri lanka, but does not that divert foreign funds from addressing our UNP-RANIL W… MS & CBK domestic vulnerability and does make Tamil terrorist recruitment easier.

Nonetheless the MS and CBK want and their political pundits think that UNP-Ranil will easily be reelected in next Parliament election by support of TNA and Muslim Congress of some Islam terrorist.
One of MS and CBK political shudders to think what additional errors UNP will make in the next five years to strengthen democracy by attacking SLFP led MR that undermine leadership struggle for national democracy, without a political plan for a successor the Republic of Sri lanka state.

We should never underestimate Tamil terrorist enemy. Defeating them will take creativity of political democracy of team work. It will be the struggle of the real friends of West and East whom respect freedom and liberty of democrats around the Globe.

    Dear PM Rudrakumaran,

As you may already know I have asked Senator Usha and her newly appointed spokesperson “Kali” a very important question. Since they have not replied I will now provide you a chance to answer.

What is the stand of TGTE on Ms Adele Balasigham a war criminal, who trained and commissioned children as soldiers for the LTTE which is a war crime under the Rome Statute. There is video evidence of her involvement in the Public Domain.

In addition I would like to know whether “Kali” represents TGTE or only Senator Usha.

    Thanking you in advance.

        Dear Rajash,

Re “May I ask you on the stand taken by the Mahinda and Gota on Karuna and KP”

The same stand that they took on Prabahkaran “Lay down arms and join the democratic process or take up arms and die by it”

BTW What is your PERSONAL view about the question put by “T”

Are you in favour of holding to account the Baby Brigade Recruiter, Trainer and Commander who did not spare even 9 year old Tamil children?

Is she not a War Criminal?

Should she not be held accountable?

Is the TGTE PROTECTING LTTE WAR CRIMINALS? Is the TGTE the new face of the LTTE? It certainly is headed by a man who was a member of Prabahkaran’s INNER CIRCLE of the LTTE and who was a colleague of Ms Adele Balasingham within that high command.

Are you also protecting LTTE war criminals?

          OTC Really?

howmany surrendering LTTE carders did Mahinda and Gota kill after assuring them to lay down the arms and surrender and join the democrtic process.

Mahinda & Gota only wants the Ex LTTErs who are useful to them to lay thier hands on the LTTE assests

          • 1
            1

            Dear Rajash,

            Yes really.

If Prabahkaran laid down arms in time, not only he, even all his hierarchy would be alive today. The most opportune time for him to do that was when MR issued an ultimatum to chose between war and peace when the LTTE closed the Mavil Aru in Peace time.

If he did that, Non of the Civilians that he used as sand bags would have died. Child soldering would have stopped.

Re “howmany surrendering LTTE carders did Mahinda and Gota kill after assuring them to lay down the arms and surrender and join the democrtic process”

Not only the surrendered LTTE cadres but even High profile LTTE leaders such as Tamilini, the leader of the LTTE women’s wing, who did not surrender but was caught hiding amongst civilians in IDP camps, survived.

If you are obliquely referring to the alleged “White Flags” incident I don’t know who surrendered and who didn’t and I don’t know whether such a surrender actually took place or whether it is propaganda. I am sure that even you don’t know.

Why did they wait for the 11th hour instead of surrendering when their Head Quarters, Kilinochchi fell? At that point of time everyone knew the LTTE had no chance.

However when I look at Google Earth I wonder at the fine detail provided by them even on the free service. They also have more detailed imagery for sale. Defense spy satellites that the west posses are capable of much higher detail than what Google’s images provide.

How come that no such imagery is available about this alleged surrender using white flags? A group with a white flag would be easily identifiable even on the free Google Earth service.

I am not the correct person to speak for Mahinda, Gota, Ranil, Sirisena or others.

My personal opinion is that what Karuna did was very wrong. KP was helping the LTTE war criminals and that was wrong also.

Unfortunately Karuna is likely to continue as MP and KP allowed his “protected” life in Kili.

This is not justice done. It is politics.

The following has been reported by Reuters today:

    ” Thomson Reuters EDITION:U.S”

    Industries | Thu Jul 23, 2015 4:58am EDT Related: NON-CYCLICAL CONSUMER GOODS
Sri Lanka to harness wasted rainwater for crops, power
    BY AMANTHA PERERA
MEDAWACHCHIYA, Sri Lanka, July 23 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) – S ri Lanka plans to store and use a billion cubic metres of rainwater per year, which would otherwise drain into the sea, in an ambitious effort to boost irrigation and power production.

The new water management system is being built in the country’s dry zone, which covers its northern and eastern areas.

Home to at least a third of Sri Lanka’s population of 20 million, the mainly agricultural zone has been hit hard by climate shifts over the past decade, and is suffering severe water shortages.

Experts say the project could harness enough water to fill two of the country’s largest reservoirs, Victoria and Randenigala.

The $675 million project, funded by the government and donors, begins this month and is due to be completed by December 2024.

One of the island nation’s largest water-related infrastructure projects in recent years, it envisages the construction of two new reservoirs and 260 km of new and upgraded canals linking existing reservoirs.

The aim is to help the dry zone better manage its water supply for power generation and farming.

“Rain patterns have been changing and the dry zone is getting less water now,” said S Shanmugasivanathan, a senior official with the Department of Irrigation. “We need to optimise water usage.”

Mean annual rainfall across Sri Lanka is 2,000 mm, of which the dry zone gets half or less. Most of the farming done there relies on irrigation, using small water tanks that are filled from the region’s larger reservoirs.

“With rain patterns now coming in short and intense bursts, we are faced with frequent incidents of floods interspersed with drought,” Shanmugasivanathan said.

“During floods we have no option but to release the water, because there is no infrastructure in place to retain it,” he added.

The new project would put to use some of the rain and floodwater that is now wasted.

    WATER TO COMBAT POVERTY

The plan to build new water retention infrastructure in the dry zone has been on the drawing board since the 1970s in the form of the Mahaweli Development Programme, which covered the country’s central hills and some of the north.

The idea was to use the waters of the Mahaweli River, the longest in the country, to increase power generation capacity by about 260 MW and provide irrigation water to an additional 325,000 acres of land.

But parts of the project were stalled by the civil war that ravaged Tamil-dominated northern and eastern Sri Lanka for a quarter of a century until 2009.

The new water management project is based on a modified and upgraded version of the original Mahaweli scheme, according to government officials and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which is providing $453 million in funding.

The ADB estimates that 70 percent of the dry zone’s population depend on agriculture. The impact of weather extremes on farming in the region means average income there is 10 percent lower than in the rest of the country, it calculates.

The hope is that the new project will help pull local people out of poverty, ADB officials say.

“The dry zone communities have historically remained among the poorest on the island and changing climate patterns will further impact monsoon rains and possibly worsen droughts,” said Lance Gore, a water resources specialist with the ADB in Manila.

“By providing more water, the project will enhance the earning capacity of people dependent on agriculture,” he said.

It also aims to supply safe drinking water to 350,000 people.

Farmers in the dry zone are mostly in favour of the project, because even in years of above-average rainfall they have endured water shortages as reservoirs empty too quickly.

“It happened to me in 2011 and again in 2013,” said Punchi Banda Herath, 55, a farmer in Medawachchiya, North Central Province, about 230 km from Colombo.

“There were floods earlier in the year, but by the time I went to do the planting towards the end of the year there was no water left. The small reservoirs in this region can’t hold that much water when it rains, and run dry very fast when drought sets in,” he explained.

Experts agree the new project could help ease the impact of drought in the dry zone, but say it is only part of the solution.

To end water scarcity in the region for good, farmers must learn to adapt their water usage and employ new techniques for conserving the precious resource, they say.

“We cannot build an unlimited number of reservoirs or canals – there is a limit to the amount of water we can provide,” said irrigation official Shanmugasivanathan. “What is important right now is to pay attention to water management.” (Reporting by Amantha Perera; editing by Megan Rowling )”.

If this report is correct and if implemented as envisaged it will indeed be good news for the dry zone and particularly the North.

Should our politicians study the details with the assistance of experts, follow-up and ensure it is implemented quickly. Should not the Diapora plat its role in making sure that this project reaches fruition fast?

    Dr.

      Dr RN,

Thanks for your efforts. Keep the heat on! I continue busy but will comment more later.

“The $675 million project, funded by the government and donors, begins this month and is due to be completed by December 2024.”

Begins this month? Should not this have been discussed with the beneficiaries first? Where are the details of this plan?

Where are the details of the R/O plant decision in Jaffna? Where will it be built, what is the capacity and how will the water be distributed to the households? Who will pay for building it, running costs (electricity) and maintenance like new membranes twice a year?

I believe that the R/O decision appeared in the media for the first time during the second “Dr Murali thread” on Chunnakam water pollution that was on CT. This might be evidence of our leading politicians like Ranil reading CT.

I have asked CT about the “Comments Policy” and how to publish articles but not received any reply.

Thanks for your inputs and participation in this mission. I have to make special mention of OTC and his immense contribution.

I have received this morning an e-mail highlighting the dangers of dumping the back flush from the desalination RO plant into the sea.

I have requested him to post this information on this thread in CT. I hope he does so soon.

Further, Reuter report highlighted above raises many questions as to details, as you have pointed out.

        Heretic,

Absolutely right! If there is a $673 million project that is starting this month, and includes addressing some of the Northern needs, how come it is not addressing Rajasingham’s new-found flag-ship “single most important and urgent issue”, especially if the three-mile long canal would solve the problem and cost only $10 million as OTC estimates?

Why should that project be dependent on pleading for Rudrakumaran’s intervention or Diaspora funding? What exactly is the motivation behind Rajasingham’s evidently misguided or perhaps phony appeal to Rudra?

Thank you for your questions. We have to ask the decision makers who obviously are not Dr RN and OTC.

I personally dislike the related R/O plant decision even without having the details of it.

The timing of these projects and the timing of the campaign of Dr RN is likely to be connected with the elections.

Unfortunately this kind of projects rarely are successful.

“Why should that project be dependent on pleading for Rudrakumaran’s intervention or Diaspora funding? What exactly is the motivation behind Rajasingham’s evidently misguided or perhaps phony appeal to Rudra?”

              Dear Heretic,

O.K. then – now you have the answer from the proverbial horse’s mouth!

Rajasingham, as a Citizen of Sri Lanka and resident of the North has given the much needed approval for the official recognition of Rudra’s outfit to represent the Tamil’s in Sri Lanka, a recognition that the group has been struggling to find!

What is more, Rajsingham has, single handedly, and as a concerned citizen of Sri Lanka, vouched for Rudra’s rights and responsibility to collect funding from the Diaspora, a right or responsibility that even Wignes, the CM, feels is beyond his mandate!

I am sure Rudra and his whole outfit appreciates such explicit endorsement from one of the most outspoken, concerned citizen who is never shy to express his opinions if not “wisdom”!!

Rudra – you owe Rajasingham a huge Thank You, before you begin sending out those appeals for Diaspora donations. And, also don’t forget to expressly mention Rajasingham’s endorsement in CAPITALS!!!

Thank you for raising this important question.

TGTE Members and Senators are all volunteers. We are all committed to
finding a peaceful permanent political solution to this long drawn ethnic conflict in our Tamil homeland.

All TGTE members self fund their own expenses, and some provide additional support to others financially.

Donations are welcome, and are important in supporting projects undertaken by the TGTE in highlighting the plight of the Tamils to the international community. This includes funding lawyers and professionals for legal actions, UNHRC conferences, as well as sponsoring projects in Tamil Eelam (for example providing financial support to the many orphans, widows and disabled Tamils in Sri Lanka).

We believe that the only way of achieving justice, accountability and freedom for the Tamils is to involve and engage the international community. We are a transnational political organisation that consists of members from various countries pursuing a peaceful permanent political solution.

TGTE members volunteer their own time and money, and we need and appreciate any support that we receive.

I have requested ALL four of you for a Public declaration of your Policy towards the Self confessed War Criminal, Ms Adelle Balasingham, now living in the UK.

She has trained and commissioned TAMIL children as young as 9 years to shoot and kill other Human Beings. These children, all of school going age, were either forcibly dragged away from the embrace of their Tamil Mothers or abducted from schools, roads etc by her quislings.

Here is a video of Adelle in LTTE Battle Fatigues, commissioning Children by awarding a Cyanide Capsule Necklace to them.

          Dear Mr Perera,

Th is why you and your regime should support and allow the UNHRC to complete it’s mandated resolution for an international independent investigation to find out the truth what actually happened and to refer to the ICC and to the UN Security Council for an action and implementation plan.

Ask why your regime and army are so afraid to open the doors to the UN, the international media, AI, HRW channel 4, and what is in the High Security Zones? How long do they want to hide, time and tide waits for no man !!.

If you witness your mothers and sisters being raped, and your fathers and brothers shot in front of you by the army and police, what are you expected to do ?

Let’s wait for the OISL Report.

          Justice and accountability please.

            Dear Mr Manicka Vasagar,

            Thank you for responding.
You are the First official from the TGTE to do so.

However you are sidestepping the question. Is it difficult for the TGTE to give a straightforward answer to a straightforward Question?

When I asked this question from your leader, Rudrakumaran, he had no answer. The prolific writer senator of the TGTE Ms. Usha S Sri-Skanda-Rajah became silent. TGTE Senator Brian Senewiratne fell silent. You yourself was silent earlier but you have replaced the silence with obfuscation.

Please refer to the comment I addressed to Mr. Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran time stamped July 23, 2015 at 10:49 pm and written under my pseudonym “Off the Cuff” (third comment from the top).

My request was for a PUBLIC declaration of your policy towards the self confessed war criminal Ms Adele Balasigham who was responsible for the LTTE Baby Brigade and has Trained and Commissioned at least a 100,000 Tamil children most of who are dead.

I provided a video clip of her directing the commissioning of Tamil Children as soldiers of the LTTE, where she and her husband Anton Balasingham justifies Child Soldering in their own voices

I also provided a BBC interview with Mr Aguilar of the UNICEF that indicates the magnitude of the crime.

Your leader Mr. Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran knew all that went on, within the LTTE, as he was a trusted Lieutenant of Mr V Prabahkaran and of Ms Adelle and Mr Anton Balasingham.

Hence it is imperative for the citizens of Sri Lanka to know whether the LTTE is masquerading as the TGTE.

In other words are you the New Face of the Terrorist LTTE that succeeded ONLY in bringing misery to the people of Sri Lanka and more specifically to the Tamil people of Lanka?

The BEST way to prove that you are not the LTTE is by holding to account, known war criminals of the LTTE, against who unimpeachable evidence is available. What more evidence than a voluntary an unsolicited confession by the criminal herself that is supported by her late war criminal husband?

So far, the TGTE has maintained a Pin Drop Silence about War Criminal Ms Adelle Balasingham, a member of the LTTE High Command. This inexplicable behaviour of an Organaisation seeking JUSTICE for the victims of War Crimes is surprising to say the least.

The young Tamil children (including 9 year olds) who were deprived of an education and a Child Hood under the protection of their parents, needs Justice. The Parents from whose embrace these children were dragged, to fight a Man’s war, needs Justice. The relations of the child soldiers who died or became life long invalids needs Justice.

Is the TGTE capable and willing to deliver that Justice?

I hope the TGTE is unafraid to make a public declaration about this very important question.

You have written the following “Th is why you and your regime should support and allow the UNHRC to complete it’s mandated resolution for an international independent investigation….”

I fail to understand the connection between the Prosecution of the self confessed War Criminal Ms Adelle Balasingham and the Sri Lanka govt.

Ms Adelle Balasingham lives in New Malden, Surey, UK. Under the Jurisdiction of the UK govt. Since the UK govt has ratified the Rome Statute, Ms Adelle is living within the Jurisdiction of the ICC. As far as the World is aware, the Sri Lanka govt has not raised any objection to the prosecution of Ms Adelle Balasingham.

Are you not making flimsy excuses to protect LTTE war criminal Adelle?

You have raised the question of an International independent investigation. I have addressed a detailed comment on this matter to you on May 31, 2015 at 12:09 am.

Here is the link please read it again https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/tgte-welcomes-fonsekas-willingness-to-face-war-crime-trials-urges-him-to-avail-to-uns-oisl/comment-page-1/#comment-1840247

            Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
            .
I am not repeating it here as it will move the Spotlight from the question that I have raised on the TGTE’s Bona Fide and Integrity.

    Dear Mr. Rudrakumaran,
Thirst of Tamils is Tamil Eelam.

You said it. It is very obvious that you and TGTE represents the Non existing LTTE.
You want to still carry on with LTTE dreams.
    – Will you represent the Non existing LTTE in an international courts.
    – will you represent the poor ex Cadres in the SriLankan jails. Will you work for their release.
    – will you apologize om behalf of LTTE for
Their attrocities towards their own people
    For killing their own People
    For child recruitement
For all the killing of Our children,
For taking our people to Mullivaikal and killing them,
For making them refugees in their own land,
    For all the traitor killings
For chasing our tamil speaking Muslims out of Jaffna
    For destroying the tamil society.
    For killing innocent Sinhalese civilians
For killing of Muslims in the East.
For destroying all the peace talks since 1985.

It is a shame that you people cannot Even do good farewell and last respect to your leader VP. How do you expect tamils to respect your organisation.

LTTE and you along with your cronies have contributed to the destruction of tamils and their homeland.

If you are really concern about the tamils in SriLanka, then help them to increase their living standards, Development and poverty alliviation.
You can talk Politics and Get million signatures in Tamil Nadu

But tamils in SL also want to live in peace and harmoni just like the way you live in USA.
Please let the SL tamils speak for them. They have their own representatives.

    Will you help them?

Will you help us bringing our homelands back to where we were 40 years back.
May be we should start from there.

    Good luck.

    Rudra,

If you got a million signatures or ten million signatures from Tamil Nadu, on the basis of the methods used, and the legal advice relied upon on for this “petition” to “Prince Said”, the International Criminal Court (ICC) of the United Nations (UN) it appears you are unaware of the role of the Hague in International Law.

My first observation as a professional and a genuine doctor, but one who does not “profess” things, which means to say things, whether or not they are true, and therefore does not assume the title of Professor. is that you are, and everyone knows you are, guilty of monstrous, barbaric, gruesome, grotesque, repulsive, depraved, and totally hideous Crimes Against Humanity (CAH) including every monstrous method of mass-murder and genocide of all human history.

The only issue is ascertaining the punishment and consequences of the whole attempt to divide Sri Lanka into a northern “Tamil” half and a southern “Sinhalese” half.

Whose idea do you think THAT was?

so I will address this directly to you as well as the organization you have declared yourself to be the “Prime Minister” of, the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam.

      Dr Romesh Senewiratne-Alagaratnam

“The only issue is ascertaining the punishment and consequences of the whole attempt to divide Sri Lanka into a northern “Tamil” half and a southern “Sinhalese” half.”

What TULF declared in Vattukottai was dead on arrival. Hindia used this mild resistance of the TULF to train, arm, finance and destabilise this island.

If anything you should be taking Hindia to task, for covertly supporting LTTE and other sundries to use violence as a means of change and the atrocities committed by IPKF.

“and everyone knows you are, guilty of monstrous, barbaric, gruesome, grotesque, repulsive, depraved, and totally hideous Crimes Against Humanity (CAH) including every monstrous method of mass-murder and genocide of all human history.”

It does not absolve the state from war crimes.

All atrocities committed by all parties should be investigated.

Please let us know in your opinion and considered view whether Sri Lankan state is innocent? The period we want you to seriously investigate is from 5th April 1971 to date.

We know LTTE did commit war crimes for which it has to face International music.

Now tell us whether Sri Lankan state had committed war crimes or not.

Our Struggle Will Continue Until There Is Justice To Tamils:

*** My dear Prime Minister in waiting ( I dont mean you personally) let me give you my blessing and endorse everthing you have said. But let me tell you with my divine Power I can look into the future and tell there is much more to be done. I will elaborate after I have correctly identified the following.

    a) Off the CLIFFE (is on the edge of Hell) = Mr.98.2 %
    b) Dr. Rajasingham Narendran: Sinkalam trapped in a Tamil Boddy who wants to divert Mahaveli to tell stories like “Kaveri Oram Kavi Sonna Padal”
    c) Sinkala Sankaran Sarma: you know who I mean
Heretic: The one with a hereditary disease
    d) T ( Tamil from Toronto): Who doesnt know where “Kali” gets his authority from to Represent TGTE

Let me tell you devotee: KALI doesnt need authority because ” KALI is the AUTHORITY.

    e) Tungsan Yu: The first time I have heard this Chinese from ” Tiananmen Square”. I have to alert RAW that there are a few still hiding behind.

*** First off all these are born “Diabolical Liars”. They suffer from loss of memory as to why the struggle for Freedom Started and who is responsible for this Carnage. Why Adele Balasingham had to Groom young innocent boys to pay the ultimate Sacrifice to free ouserelves from Freedom. I find this sudden discvery of 100,000 young boys who have been turned into Child Soldiers very condoscending. Even the fighting force of LTTE was only 30,000 but even that was thought by GOSL to be an exageration.

As for Our Struggle Will Continue Until There Is Justice To Tamils you have lefft out a lot of things and let me fill in the Gaps.

The 1.2 million will reach many millions of which I have no doubt and that said Justice has 4 Important components and we cant be complacent.

1)TRUTH: This is where some of blatant lies by some Sinkalams about the role of Adele can be examined and laid to rest.
    2) ACCOUNTABILTY: Without which we cannot move on to heal the Scars. NO MORE TAMIL BLOOD. Those who are Guilty iof Genocaide must be punished including Karuna.
    3) RECONCILIATION: This is a Mamoth Task but this has to be appproached with a Carrot & Stick approach.
    4) PARITY: This is when we will achive Wholy Matrimony and I am not sure whether the Marriiage will be consumed with seperate Sleeping Arrangements. That might be possible with weekend trysts.

But TGTE is a vehicle for interstellar travel to reach the Edge of the Universe . If in doubt ask Captain SPOK.

Vellala Party TNA obviously didn’t allow its Members and even the followers to sign this Petition.

Otherwise Eelaam PM should have got a hell of a lot more than the 100 thou from the land where these alleged Genocide & War Crimes occurred.

Could it be because the Eelaam PM’s supporters are not Vellalas?.

Or could it be because of the unelected PM Btalanda Ranil’s MOU with the TNA & the BTF?.

Or could it be because Batalanda Ranil has already made a list of 42 Army Officers and the two Rajapaksa brothers who defeated Prabakaran at the “Waterhole” in Nanthikadal?.

And the West friendly SL FM has already submitted this list to the UN Boss Bunki Moon and his HR enforcer the Bedouin from Jordan with copies to Cameron , Harper, Solheim and Yankee Kerry.

And the Yahapalana Regime has agreed to do what ever the UN wishes to do to the 42 Army Officers and the Rajapaksa brothers?.

“And the Yahapalana Regime has agreed to do what ever the UN wishes to do to the 42 Army Officers and the Rajapaksa brothers?.”

Could it be that natural justice is more powerful than the UN and take care of what should be done about the war criminals, poetic justice perhaps.

    Dr. R N

I want to put you on Notice that you are not fit to comment on the future welbeing of the Tamils for the following reasons.

    1) You are a Practicing Veterinary Surgeon with a Practicing Certificate and that places you in a position of trust.

    2) You made a wild statement about Rinderpest which amounts tp PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT.

I asked you for clarification as follows

***Dr RN, You are now dodging the issue. I asked you a simple question in response to your statement. 1987 and the years after. It is a finite period. When was the North & East declared free of Rinderpest. Either you know or you don’t. If you don’t know as a Professional you have a duty not to Mislead.

    Your reply was as follows.

Do you know when the IPKF landed on our shores, with their goats- man and beast. Dr.RN

I asked you again from 1987 to when but you havent answered.

*** But you are now busy preaching to the Tamils your vision for the future. But unless you clear the air as to whether or not there is likely to be a Rinderpest epidemic in the North & East your request for Mahaveli to be diverted is meaningless and the entire Human Population may be wied out.

    YES or NO.

Re “I want to put you on Notice ……”

Dr RN must be shivering in his shoes!

The days of power are gone Kali, you are in no position to THREATEN anyone.

Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, Ms Usha S Sri-Skanda-Rajah, Brian Senewiratne, Manicka Vasagar and ALL their supporters have failed to clear the air on the above matter.

Are they fit to comment on the future well being of the Tamils when they have been DUMB about a self confessed CHILD KILLER ?

Rudrakumaran will never learn how to settle for something
practical and worthwhile. Just like Prabhakaran who ended up with nothing.
I wonder whether his organisation ever spends time and money on
projects that could actually better the lives of people in the former
    war torn areas.

You ask a very valid Question. At least we have a choice now but you lot. NONE.
You have now become an Indian SLAVE . You have accepted for something a lot less. The ambious Colombo Port cancelled under orders by Modi. Do you calll that choice or reality.

I wonder whether MR spent any money that could actually better the lives of people in the former war torn areas.

    Dear OTC, Heretic, Dr.Romesh & others interested,a

I have received an e- mail from Mr.M.Sooriyasegaram, an Engineer who has spent several years post-war in Jaffna, giving his views on the water related issues we have been discussing in CT. I have copied the contents below:

” Please see attached information and circulate widely. The aim is to ensure that we are aware of the serious threats to the environment, ecology, marine life and economy.

The proposed feasibility study on desalination must address all these issues. I also saw a video on the disastrous effects from desalination plants in South India and Australia.

I am fearing that desalination could be become one of the worst man made disasters!

Barathy – please do not think that what I write or speak are directed at any persons. I am looking at the issues only. The NPC has got the fundamentals wrong, which has made them take wrong decisions – in relation to Iranaimadu Project, Oil pollution in Chunnakam and Desalination.

In my considered view we must:

    1. Conserve, recharge, don’t over extract and don’t pollute the the only locally available underground water source. Immediately start a programme to replace the single pit toilets in the peninsula to multi-pit toilets, to refurbish by desilting, cleaning up and deeping all our small kulams. Strict enforcement of minimum distance requirement between wells and toilet pits. Flush out the oil pollution starting from the source of pollution (Chunnakam Power Station). Control or ban the use of chemical fertilizers and harmful pesticides. Introduce where ever possible micro-irrigation. All the Pradesa sabas and the Jaffna Municipal Council must be given the responsibility implement these programmes. Government must provide technical and human resources and funding.

    2. Implement the Irranaimadu Project (water supply and sanitation) for which grass root consultation must be started by an independent professional body. There should be no confrontation with farmers. Additional sources of water eg. a standby upper reservoir for times of emergencies, NCP canal to get Mahavali water. Drinking water needs of Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Poonakari and the Islands and the irrigation needs of kilinochchi farmers must be given adequate consideration and an acceptable balance must be reached.

    3. TNA must start negotiations with the government to agree on an acceptable policy on colonization w/o artificially and drastically changing the ethnic composition (demography). I am saying this because of genuine fears or phobia of “Sinhala” colonization. The time to do this, I think, would be immediately after the general election.

    4. Carry out a feasibility study on Arumugam’s river for Jaffna scheme to increase the cultivable lands.

These are easily achievable, least expensive and most sustainable solutions.”

I shall extract other information in the attachments he refers and present them as appropriate.

      Those interested:

Please find below a short note on Dry a Toilets, I copied from a Google search on the subject (Wikipedia):

“Dry toilets, or more generally speaking “dry excreta management systems” are useful in all areas and may be especially suitable in situations where water flushed toilets or sewer-based sanitation systems and their required infrastructure are not feasible:[3]

Dry toilets are used for three main reasons

To save water – when there is either water scarcity, water is costly (such as in arid or semi-arid climates) or because the user wants to save water for environmental reasons
To prevent pollution of water – dry toilets do not mix excreta with water and do not pollute groundwater (except for pit latrines which may pollute groundwater)
To enable safe reuse of the excreta (or the faecal sludge in the case of pit latrines) in gardening or agriculture, after it has undergone further treatment by either drying or composting”.

Dry toilets will conserve water and overcome the problem of underground water pollution associated with flush toilets with pits. However, there may cultural/ atudinal problems in using human fecal compost in agriculture.

Bravo! Well said. When the voting was stated, to downplay the effort of the Diaspora Tamils, Rajitha Soanaratne said as the government has brought the equality between the races, Diaspora had cancelled their protests. But now he has left the SLFP party because the government allowing the Old King’s come back.

Once aging PM has proved that he is Harvard grade lawyer.

He has sharply aimed the international community, to give a double effect the to the Million Signature Campaign to be presented at UN.

Churchill’s friendship with Hitler delayed the action on Germany. It is not the veto of the Lankave’s friendly countries is threatening the ICC’s investigation. It is the countries who brought the resolution who stalled the report being presented at UNHRC. That is why he reminded to the countries who brought the resolution to go ahead, instead of falling into excuses because Kenya investigation was not vetoed. In Tamil, there is proverb, “Kavaddy edduththaal Aadi Mudi”( If had put the Kaavaddi on the shoulders for a presentation “Burden Dance” do not take it off with out dancing). This Signature campaign is not only for Chin or Russia or Cuba who opposed the resolution. It is mainly for the nations who signed the resolution. China and Russia sold the armes to Old Royal Government; but America, India, Israel, Britain like countries are the one used the satellites free and gave arms free to support the Murderous army.

Genghis Khan, Mahmood of Gazni, Hitler, Mahinda Rajapaksa all are shame of the human civilization. Western countries have recognized the first three. But, for a political advantage reluctant to recognize the fourth one. Irrelevant of whatever the influence the Sinhala Government posses in the world arena, sooner or latter, there is lot of chance, in any case, Lankan war criminals get prosecuted. Nazis still being pursued and prosecuted. But, as Lawyer, PM is taunting to the UNHRC that Justice delayed is Justice denied. Already three softly worded resolutions have been passed, in addition to the praising one in the 2009 May. Indo-Lanka, Dudley-Selva and Banda-Selva pacts are other examples of Sinhala Governments culture of holding to their promise. There are private promises to UN SG and to Soulbury commission still outstanding to b horned. When the actual history is pointing in that direction, UNHRC member countries further delaying the investigation is Making the Tamils to wonder how much of these “democratic nations complicit” is present in the still on on going destruction and genocide of the Tamils.

It is after the war, most of the land grabbing in the North took place for army colonization, farming, business buildings, hotel buildings, summer house constructions for politicians … It is after the war the 3:1 army ratio occupation implemented. It is after the war the sexual slavery on Tamils was imposed. It is after the war the white van, Grease Monster, Gobi-Jeyakumari Tiger resurrection dramas was acted. It is after the war Aluthgama Muslims were was attacked with the intention of suppressing minorities and teaching a lesson to Tamils. It is after the war Tamils were forcefully put on the un-sea worthy boats and shipped to Australia; while they were on the way, they were bombed and sunk into sea with the consent and/or blessing of Australia. It is after war India had to involve to have the NPC election conducted. It is after the war America has to pressure the current parliament election to take place. Is there not enough lessons to UNHRC to submit the report as per due date and take action on that?

    OTC and Dr RN,

    To continue about water.

One of the major problems is the resistance to new ideas. Very few villagers would be interested in solar stills, solar cookers, rain water harvesting or other new things despite the obvious advantages. If they are given, for instance, a solar cooker they are likely to destroy it in some weeks.

I see every day workers irrigating plants in the early afternoon. It is very hot and a lot of the water is bound to evaporate.

      Heretic,

This is where the political leadership and the extension services of the various departments have failed. The Jaffna man by nature does not easily accept change, but if he is convinced, he will change fast.

I remember a time p, when the fields in Vasavilan were irrigated very early in the morning ( -around 4am) using the hula system, to both minimise evaporation and heat stress on the farmer and his helpers. With the introduction of water pumps and the bad habit of sleeping late in the morning and seeking entertainment in the evenings.

I have see how American and Canadian farmers, work and how receptive they are to new ideas. I have also seen how they extension services and the politicians responsible for related subjects work to bring about the change.

You are correct. The people I see irrigating at noon do not care about the results but the heat must bother them. They are paid to do the work and do not appear at 5 am or 5 pm.

“This is where the political leadership and the extension services of the various departments have failed.”

There is an interesting interview in Sunday Observer with Chairman of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB), Dr. Chamira Nilanga Samarasinghe. He has this to say about government servants and politicians.

“The biggest damage was done by late Dr. Colvin R de Silva, because he is responsible for destroying the career of independent government officers. The 1972 Constitution weakened the power of government officers.

After 1977, a culture emerged where decisions taken by government officials had to be sanctioned by politicians. There are 17 government officers to look after a single household including Samurdhi officer, Grama Niladari, Social Service Officer and a Public Health officer. If this structure works properly, this country will be heaven. Today, all government officers await orders from politicians.

Government officials should go to the village level and decide on the people’s requirements and then submit proposals to politicians for approval. Today this is happening other way around. This is the biggest problem in the country.”
