Perpetual Treasuries Ltd (PTL) the outfit run by Arjun Aloysius gave former Central Bank Governor and Aloysius’ father-in-law Arjuna Mahendran a total of Rs 3.2 million, the Attorney General’s Department revealed at the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Colombo, today. Apparently the money had been given in three separate cheques.

It is not clear why such a payment was made, although Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Yasantha Kodagoda told court that Mahendran might have used the three cheques to settle off the bill of his unlimited credit card.
PTL was the principal beneficiary of the controversial Central Bank Bond Issues in 2015 and 2016. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the time defended Mahendran, the man he hand-picked for the Governor’s post.
Meanwhile, a B report filed in Court today by the Attorney General’s Department in relation to the bond scam revealed that State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe had received three cheques of Rs.1 million each in 2015 and 2016 from W.M. Mendis & Company Ltd., a subsidiary of Perpetual Treasuries Ltd.
Senasinghe was also very vocal in claiming that there was no wrongdoing in the relevant transactions. When mobile phone records showed that he had had dozens of conversations with Aloysius, Senasinghe pleaded that this was to obtain information for a book he was wring on the subject. However it was revealed that many of the calls were made after he had published the said book.

The three cheques, received in 2015 and 2016 had been cashed by members of Senasighe’s security detail.
Senasinghe has stated that he was unaware that his election campaign teams had received money from W.M. Mendis & Co Ltd., a business that Aloysius acquired after he made a billions through the bond scam. He stated ‘had I known (that the contribution was from W.M. Mendis and Co Ltd) I would not have allowed the teams handling campaign donations to accept it.’
Senasinghe, however, has not explained why anyone would contributed ‘campaign donations’ in 2016, a year in which there were no elections.

Meanwhile Kodagoda also informed court that the CID would obtain a statement from Senasinghe as well as UPFA MP Dayasiri Jayasekara regarding the cheque of Rs.1 million he is alleged to have received in 2015 from Walt & Row Associates, a PTL-related Group Company. Jayasekera admitted that he had indeed received this amount but said that he did not know where the donation had come from.
It has been alleged that more than 160 MPs had received money from either PTL or one of its subsidiaries. A full list of beneficiaries is yet to be revealed to the public.

Did Arjun Mahendran robbed Edirisinghe Trust Investment (ETI) as well? Knowing that this company is facing financial problems Central Bank under Mahendran had not taken any action. Billions of Rupees have evaporated and no clue at all what happened to that money. Present Governor has admitted that there have been lapses in the part of Central Bank. The members of Supervisory Body for Non-Bank Financial Institutions are paid by tax payers to monitor these institutions and save the depositors. What the hell they did? The members of Supervisory Body for Non-Bank Financial Institutions should be held responsible for this financial scandal.

I would like to strike a different note. To me almost all politicians are up to some sort of trick to amass wealth for seven generations (හත් මුුතු පරම්මරාවටම හම්බ කිරීම). What is hilarious that the present lot are getting exposed like nothing. Examples: (1) Checks written in their favor and en-cashing the same. (2) Paying rent to penthouses (3) Getting caught red-handed when counting money in hotel car parks and counting it twice over to verify the sum. The previous lot, especially ones at the top those days did a neater job. Three and a half years gone and none of them are truly exposed either in a commission of inquiry or a high ranking official in the AG’s department making an allegation in open court leave alone putting them behind bars. So now the question that we have to ask ourselves is that whether we voted one set of rogues and undesirables in preference to another.

Edwin the stupid fellow. Ask Gota and MR the truth about arrest of KP. This was a stage managed one. After the war and demise of Prabaharan, those who were having LTTE money wanted to swindle it. KP self declared himself as the head of LTTE and tried to bring all the money under him. This was fiercely opposed by some others who also wanted to control the money. KP was threatened with death. He was living in Thailand where he had no security cover, and as an insider to LTTE capability, he took no chance and arranged for the “arrest”. Look at the way it took place. KP had informed MR and Gota that he is having LTTE funds and would like to invest it in Sri Lanka, of course with commission to both of them. He had come to Malaysia supposedly on a visit but actually to discus this with government officials, and was promptly taken into custody. Do you think that any LTTE person will trust any government official and make this silly move. Unfortunately KP could not get his hands on LTTE funds as others took charge of it. Find out about how KP is being treated by government even the present one. Is it like a prisoner or a state guest. Why did Gota or MR not take legal action against KP to sentence him. Do not try to compare this with that of Arjuna Mahendran’s case where a legal process has to take place. Even if MR or Gota come to power they will have to follow international procedures, and if not Singapore will make them to eat humble Kavung.

So, what you say is that, it was just like the bumping off of your God Pirapaharan, which was also a similar operation arranged between Gota and VP to save his ass – and to hell with other Tamil asses. But something went wrong. Army Private Nimal Maharage who was unaware of all this noticed something like a medium sized whale swimming towards the shore in Nanthikadal and let out the challenge, ‘who goes there’. The Army trains its soldiers well to follow the rules of war and shoot only when required.
