Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Wimal Weerawansa and Provincial Councillor Udaya Gammanpila have become victims of a cyber-attack, Gammanpila’s party Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) claims.
PHU media unit releasing a statement notes, the ‘likes’ for Facebook fan page of Gammanpila had decreased by 1200 last Friday abruptly, and this made them check the Facebook fan pages of both Wimal as well as MR.
“Former President’s FB fan page likes had dropped by 15,800 while Wimal Weerawansa’s fan page likes had dropped by 4,100. Although it is a normal occurrence for likes to drop in this manner, in this instance it has aroused suspicion due to a significant amount of likes dropping in a comparatively brief period,” the PHU says.
They claim it is a vicious attack of an opposing group carried out through Bot program.
Gammanpila claims he has made a complaint to the Facebook administrators concerning the situation.
