Prasanna Becomes Sri Lanka’s Fifth FIDE Master

Prasanna Kurukulasuriya became Sri Lanka’s fifth FIDE Master at the conclusion of the the Asian Zone Chess Tournament last Friday (08.03.2013).

Now he is the senior of the two active FIDE Masters in Sri Lanka.

Most importantly, he is the Reigning National (Rapid) Chess Champion of Sri Lanka, was Sri Lanka National B Chess Champion 2008 and 2011, has captained the College Senior Chess Team during 2000-2002, and has brought honour to Sri Lanka by winning three medals at the GACC Inter-Varsity Chess Tournaments, Malaysia, 2005/2007.

Prasanna was also  Majors Champion and Novices Champion and is a CFSL Approved Arbiter and Coach.
