Addressing a group of journalists on Friday at the President’s House President Maithripala Sirisena unabashedly declared that he had instructed Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to make sure that the Attorney General does not prosecute certain individuals unless there’s absolute certainly that a conviction can be obtained.
The President was referring to cases involving individuals which could cause embarrassment for the Government in the event that convictions are not obtained.
The special treatment sought for particular cases and moreover the fact that they are clearly political in character violate the principle of equality before the law. In addition they go agains the grain of ‘good governance’ and the pledges made by the President and Prime Minister to leave political interference out of the judicial process.

The President has a point. Kothapaya is very good in covering his tracks. Unless the case is water-tight he will not only slip away, he will also turn the case against others!
This is what he did with the MIG fraud. Finally Lasanatha was facing court for defamation!
He still has his death squads working underground. People are too scared to give evidence against him.
If we once lose a case the same case cannot stand again. Kothapaya goes free! And the witnesses will be in danger too.

Genocide is an International, UN level crime. It cannot be investigated internally without proper International level setup. Genocide is crime against a race, so the jurors against the same case cannot be appointed to investigate it. As the Genocide was committed by UNP-SLFP duos, members, supporters, voters of these parties cannot take part in the investigative unit. That is almost all Sinhalese who are UNP or SLFP, except for very few.

Here is the main issue ,in the older days when the technology is not available , the scale of looting in everything was minimum ,so the country Still survived , Sand mining was done by manual labour ,it provided more jobs of cause with thorough exploitation of no descent wages ,today Machinery is used , the volumes are greater and the envoirment is ruined permenantly beyound any hope of recovery and we will face severe earth quakes in future .This is one example ,then timber its the same ,today machinery is used to cut larger volumes .
The same with financial ,technology is is used to rob .every robbery is done in large scales and beneficiary are in small numbers today .
What is needed is to cone up with a system to curbe that ,obething is about seasand mining must be carefully monitored and encouraged and people should be well educated about the safety of using itvand river sand mining need to be fully banned ,Timber logging also must be banned and duty must be removed and instead gst be added and local timber logging must be banned . you can stop every robbing but surely you can curbe . even farming of endangered species must be stopped ,because that is only an eye wash to rob pur natural resources.
Shouting hora hora is not t going to help ,people should cone together and come up with a constitution that covers to protect the nation’s resources.

The election mandate should cover this and it should cover the provision for the best and comfortable public transport Islsndwide for all people ,everyone should be encouraged by that to use public transport. Not free Health care but a high quality healthcare where everyone can afford without it becoming a parasite on the country , same with education , same with housing , same with pension and its farming and food production that needs to be exploited by using all and every form of modern technology and science to an extend we will become a major food exporting nation
People should be educated about the lie against GMOS being bad . rice flakes for breakfast should become cheep and encouraged ,while other imported Cereals should be landed with heavy Duty ,same with fruits and vegetables imported .These are few things that need to be put into action .but first is Turning the country to federal Admin areas and give each a budget and a target and let them account for it.

What you need to really worry about Sri Lanka’s future . compare it with other nations disasters.
The people are not punished for some karma of their sins, its the small segment of mafia behind their suffering while they the criminals are enjoying.
Changing governments like changing undies is not the Solution ,only by the entire people coming together with a common goal can discipline the political system ,you must intent the same benefits to all people as much as you want.
And while This Man Sirisena is struggling to try to do as much as he can about it ,we will .never know if he is sincere or not ,so far we have unintentionally been the milking cows of past rulers , say let’s support this man and get him .to good be us in writing to provide the necessities of people in detail and the period he needs and also a legal Bond ng document that says if he can’t achieve it by then he must step down account for everything and he and his family must give politics.
I trust he will stand by his word .,b t I won’t risk the same with other leaders including Ranil

I am very much a Sri Lankan by generation and Ansar by birth.
Coming to your point, all you what you mentioned happened during the brutal and deadly period of MARA/GORA dark ages. We the 6.2 M people changed that and expected the Professionals to do their jobs freely and without any fear.
To the credit of Yahapalanaya rule, besides all odds stacked against them regarding corruption, there has not been any political or dissent killing, unlike the dark ages of MARA/GORA murderous period.
So definitely the AG and CJ can act independently without getting feared, being murdered or white vanned.

Ranil and New King Came to power promising “No Leader, No Commander, No Soldier will be prosecuted”. What the SJ, AG or IGP can do on that case? Even before Ranil properly seated as Prime Minister, he fired two CJs without any parliamentary impeachment procedures. What happened to LTTE IGP? Didn’t they say he was fired because he was protecting the DIG who was in the murder? So, why this IGP is not fired yet? How this IGP line hopped to become IGP where there are seniors? Can you tell me why that is when Jemanne was dead, it was Bribery Commission Director Dilrukshi was fired next day? What in the world made the Navy Commander Chinnaiah to be fired? Can you tell me, in the light of what happened to Mahendran, why couldn’t Chinnaiah recommend buying the Russian navy ship? In any case, he did know that the ship will be bought! He didn’t do that because the commission goes to New Royals, but he would go only to prison. Unlike Mahendran who now lost the job, respect and will be in Lankawe torturer chambers, Chinnaiah only lost the job.
