President And Premier Collude In Interfering With Legal Process

Addressing a group of journalists on Friday at the President’s House President Maithripala Sirisena unabashedly declared that he had instructed Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to make sure that the Attorney General does not prosecute certain individuals unless there’s absolute certainly that a conviction can be obtained.

The President was referring to cases involving individuals which could cause embarrassment for the Government in the event that convictions are not obtained.

The special treatment sought for particular cases and moreover the fact that they are clearly political in character violate the principle of equality before the law. In addition they go agains the grain of ‘good governance’ and the pledges made by the President and Prime Minister to leave political interference out of the judicial process.

The President cautions ~ “…………the Attorney General does not prosecute certain individuals unless there’s absolute certainly that a conviction can be obtained………”.
Note the last bit ‘ unless there is absolute certainty……’.
The President cannot count on the loyalty of the armed services, police and the prosecution arm. The judiciary can only go on the case as presented.
Let us see how the Uva CM case goes. Here there is a very very high-up interested!
In the bond issue another high-up.

Will the politicians also raise the issue where the President saved Gotabaya from being arrested and sent him to USA by manipulating the legal process. President trusts private lawyers more than his own Attorney General. This has to be debated at the Parliament on the 6th of Feb when the Bond Commission report is to be discussed.

No. The whole thing is a farce. There is no collusion. No wonder why some web video political commentators describe MY3 as “Kapati Susano”. Why on earth must HE instruct the PM to instruct the AG to do something when HE jolly well can give the direction himself? HE appoints the AG.. Upon certain conditions being satisfied HE can remove the AG. The PM has no role in it except that he is a member of the Constitutional Council. What he is trying to tell the world now in the eve of Local Government elections is that the AG works for the PM so if there is any tardiness on the part of the AG in bringing the “rogues” to book the PM is responsible. The other message is that HE telling the public is that AG can be careless particularly on the insistence of the PM in hastily bringing in people to the court house resulting in possible acquittals of the rogues. Thus in all circumstances it is the PM who has broken the election pledges to bring a Government of Good Governance and NOT HIM. So much for the “Yahapalana” cold war.

Poor guy was with MR for 10 long years and he did not know what his president was doing. He is the then Genaral secretary of S LFP and very powerful Minister of Rajapakse Regime.. This guy was the president of YAHAPALANA government for 3 long years. He is the head of Cabinet. But he did not know what the Government was doing for last 3years.That means he was like a puppet for 13 Years..Deaf and Dumb.Would any sensible person believe this liar
If he could sacrifice his leader for 10 years, it is not a big issue for him to sacrifice his PM for only 3 years

This joker President – is now jumping like fish out of water.
Every time some one from the previous regime was taken to custody – he makes sure he is released on bail. Now he has started witch hunting UNP members ? Why.
We also need Presidential commission into the antique ship deal with Russia , also on the release of the Russian spy(hacker) whilst there was an Intl warrant. Why no commissions or parliamentary debate on that ??
