President Sirisena And Cabinet Father Legal Murder

President Maithripala Sirisena, addressing a gathering in Polonnaruwa this morning, vowed to ensure that the death penalty would be implemented in the case of drug offenders, pointing out that when he proposed the same to Cabinet it was received with rousing applause and unanimous approval.

Sirisena

Sirisena, made this assertion at a ceremony to inaugurate the construction of a hospital with funds gifted by the Chinese Government.

He pointed out that none of those who have expressed objection to legal murder have done anything to combat the drug menace in the country. However Sirisena did not explain how executing offenders necessarily puts an end to drug trafficking and abuse.

The Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission has opposed capital punishment, a position also taken by Minister of Finance and Media Mangala Samaraweera. Samaraweera, however, has stated that despite his personal opinion he stands by the ‘common position’ taken by cabinet.

Opponents have pointed out that unlike other crimes, those wrongfully convicted due to error of judgment or evidence of innocence being unavailable to court at the time of determination, those executed cannot have their innocence affirmed or compensated. In such an event, the President as well as the entire cabinet would be held responsible for the legal murder of the innocent.

The death penalty was abolished during the tenure of S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike in 1956 but was reinstated to punish those convicted of assassinating him in 1959. The relevant law was amended in 1978 requiring a ratification by the President, effectively ending execution. The last legal murder was carried out in 1976.

So, let the GOVIGAMA MAFIA member SIRISENA put LANZA/Negombo and Duminda/COLOMBO accused of drug business and being the drug barons, hanged. Will this ever happen BOYS???? Also, Gnanasara ad the Team of BBS for the STATE SPONSORED Pogroms conducted against the Muslims in recent times. No matter what, no GOVIGAMA MAFIA Ruling Elite member will ever be hanged even if he murders the entire population of SRI LANKA…….. Its the GOVIGAMA MAFIA game and its justice system. Enjoy People!

What is your problem with Govigama people? They are the largest caste in Sri Lanka. So it is natural they have some influence in politics. Although Govigama caste is monolithic it has sub-castes too.
The Sinhalese caste system which was based on the duty to the King (Rajakaariya) started during Dutch era, same like the Tamil caste system, though the latter was based on the religion. At the time nobody owned lands other than the King. So everybody was supposed to work for the King in various fields. People started owning lands only during British rule.
Sinhalese don’t bother about caste system anymore at societal level though it is still in practice in arranged marriages.
Your branding of Govigama as a mafia only shows your immaturity.

It doesn’t matter. People take Wimal as Wimal. I can give a list of politicians, academia and many others who use different names for various reasons including to hide their true race and religion. The short name is ideal for him. Why do you talk only about Wimal? There is no other politician other than Wimal who was subjected to discrimination and prejudice at its highest level.
How about Ravi Karunananyake? Parliament Hansard reveals some other totally different name as his original name. How about that? I can give more examples. Leave Wimal alone, ok!

              Champa,
“Parliament Hansard reveals some other totally different name as his original name. How about that? ” How about what?? Just because some idiot reads something into Hansard it doesn’t become true. Don’t use these childish devices to “win” arguments. At least Ravi ran a successful business before he entered politics, unlike your God Sangili, who cannot explain how he got his wealth. Are you the fairy godmother who gave him a bag of gems?
Your precious Wimal is one of the biggest self-promoters in parliament. If he suffered prejudice, it WAS because of his caste. Is that so difficult to understand? Caste DOES matter to the Sinhalese.even today.

I bet you fail history. Unlike you I don’t sling mud at people but I tried to point out something without doing any harm from my part to the person. Therefore, I have no intention to elaborate further.
About Wimal, nobody care about Wimal’s caste. I don’t even know what his caste is. He is subjected to prejudice and slander because he hails from an ordinary family. If he was from a Colombo elite family like Ranil’s and some others, nobody would ever say anything to him. Some people even tried to whitewash Ranil from the Bond Scam orchestrated by him as he is a Royalist and have elite background. All crooks from elite or wealthy families are saved and covered up from their crimes. That is the truth.
I repeat, caste doesn’t matter for anybody to climb up the ladder in politics. Stay in touch with us, man, you will see it one day.

Mangala is peddling the British/European view on the death penalty. It is pretty grand for the British/Europeans to claim the inhumanity of the death penalty all the while bombing Iraq and Libya into oblivion.
As for Sirisena, he doesn’t know weather he is coming or going. His entire Presidency has been a contradiction. The sooner he is out of office, the better for the country.

“Mangala is peddling the British/European view on the death penalty.”

Forget the Brits and Europeans, what is Sri Lankan view on death penalty?
What is your view on death penalty?
What is your dad’s view on death penalty?
What is your granddads’ view on death penalty?
What is your grandmas’ view on death penalty?
What is your grandchildren’s view on death penalty?
      …..
      ….
What is your children’s view on death penalty?
What is your wife’s view on death penalty?

Are you in a hurry to send your perceived enemies to gallows on trumped up charges, perhaps your wife’s old boyfriend or your teenage daughter’s new boyfriend?

“It is pretty grand for the British/Europeans to claim the inhumanity of the death penalty all the while bombing Iraq and Libya into oblivion.”

Are you saying if and when this island is able to bomb Iraq and Libya into oblivion this country should ban capital punishment?

Any law let alone a death penalty is a farce in a country where the lawmakers are infinitely more criminal than it’s worst lawbreakers. Sirisena is trying to score popularity points at the expense of human lives. The drug trade in Sri Lanka thrives exclusively due to political patronage, a mystery how the average voter is so blissfully ignorant

It matters not whether murderers, clowns or the insane rule us from blue, green, purple, white or red as they are acting the drama of safeguarding each other to remain in power with the perks shared. Citizens form the opposition and have become idiots not knowing how to draw the curtain.

Some call it the deep state as leaders unsuccessfully try to be evil dictators mimicking the new world order of occult secret societies of west eliminating the middle class with mind control to make slaves, comrades, workers to sustain the elite. This is failed communism and fascist Nazi dictatorship, so called religio-nationalism so damaging to our society struggling for peace and reconciliation, but so loved by the financial mafia with corrupt businesses and drugs, feeding corrupt politicians whose main focus is the next election. The vision for the nation is clouded by the mania for money and power, hence the drug proliferation. Then they spend the rest of their lives out of power, lying to commissions, hiding wealth in foreign banks, spending millions for court cases, tormented and oppressed beyond measure, requiring drugs for insanity.

The drug addicts themselves need care and rehabilitation, but drug dealers need punishment. The tension between unified leaders for financial control in a global govt., and leaders like Trump and Putin hated by most as they build own national upliftment, can be explained. Brexit out of Union is out of place for NWO elite ruling the slaves. Elite need entire control of govt. and money to rule ignorant masses who vote for them, deceived by lies. Drugs and money mania needs punishing.

I am vehemently against reinstating death penalty in practice.
President says the death penalty is only for drug traffickers.
All the well known big culprits who are serving death sentence for drug trafficking cannot be executed as they have filed Appeals.
Therefore, if death penalty is resumed which was abolished de facto, only those who are one time offenders will be executed for show. What is the rationale of this?
This is exactly what King Kekille did. Once he ordered to execute a thin jeweler by trampling him. The thin man said that as he was bony, the elephant would be hurt if he was trampled and suggested the King to trample a fat shopkeeper in town instead, as it is easy for the elephant. King agreed and executed the fat man in place of the thin man.
President’s decision to resume execution is not sufficient to curb the drug menace.
I think he is “wrongly inspired” by Hitler-come back call. He is trying to show he is as tough as Hitler.
President is not a Buddhist. A Buddhist will never think of taking somebody’s life.
President should learn to practice Metta Bhavana.
But he SHOULD NOT EXCLUDE DRUG TRAFFICKERS when he recites “May all human beings, including myself, my parents, my children, my brothers & sisters, my family, my friends, my enemies and all beings that exist in the entire universe, be free from enmity, be free from mental suffering and be free from physical suffering.”
Reinstating death penalty is a major step towards converting Sri Lanka into a secular country. Buddhists should not fall for this trap.
Given the alarming rate of unfathomable reasons for murdering their own loved ones, after witnessing a man is hanged, the society will be more hard-hearted.
Treason is a bigger crime than drug trafficking. To beat the President, one might suggest to introduce a “Hybrid Dual Hanging Pole” or a “Hybrid Dual Strangling Gallows” for future use. What would the President do then?

Only because the death penalties on innocent people have already been carried out before 2015. If necessary you will change your mind if in the future the state decides to punish the people again.

      Don’t lie.

      Champa the rapist defender,
The first death sentences should be carried out against the serial rapists you call “war heroes”.
They have been proved guilty of rape even in Haiti (and that too of underage girls). What can you expect of Sinhala Buddhist soldiers when Buddhist monks are arrested every week for raping small boys!

raman – the LTTE rump paid coolie.
You should be happy I am Buddhist. If not, I would be first to request the President to hang all terrorists, rapists, drug traffickers and murderers, in that order.
Prabhakaran is the barbarian who carried out a massive drug smuggling network in the North and around the world to earn money to run his terrorist outfit. LTTE was and still is a part and parcel of drug smuggling. The network is not broken despite sun god’s death.
War heroes issue came after this government came into power with the UN Resolution. LTTE diaspora made a series of bogus complaints to corrupt UNHRC whose officials were bribed by LTTE, based on unsubstantiated allegations.
There is nothing wrong with me asking all liars to provide evidence against our Army for rape and murder during the last phase of war.
You beat around the bush with other stories which are irrelevant as LTTE has no credible evidence to support their allegations against our Army.
Tamils in the North are protesting against a Tamil rapist and his accomplices who raped and killed a 6 year old, demanding the judiciary to give them the maximum punishment. Before that they held protests against Swiss Kumar and 8 others who gang raped and murdered Vidya, a school girl.
Terrorists, rapist, drug traffickers, spree killers and serial killers are not religious. If they were religious they would never have committed the crimes they did. My sympathies for your childishness for having trouble in understanding a simple thing like that.

Are you denying that your army was thrown out of Haiti for raping children? What more evidence do you want? Are you paid by the rapists to write in their defence?
Were 7 soldiers not sentenced to death for raping one child? Who are you calling a liar? If you want to troll this forum with your dishonest propaganda, expect to get trolled yourself.
“. If they were religious they would never have committed the crimes they did.” I suppose that Buddhist monk who strangled a policeman was not religious. Nor the monk who raped a 7 year old boy. Now go ahead and ask me for “evidence” against these two!

Talk to the point man. LTTE didn’t take up Haiti issue. Did they? All LTTE’s unsubstantiated allegations; missing people, rape and murder are relevant to last phase of war.
As mentioned previously elsewhere, wearing a yellow robe doesn’t make anybody religious unless they practice Lord Buddha’s teachings. You are talking about cases before the courts. What is there to argue? The culprits should get the maximum punishment. Why not bring LTTE’s rape and murder allegations too, before the courts? That is what I am asking.

What is your point if any? When the Haiti rapes occured, the LTTE didn’t exist. You mean that allegations are valid only if made by the LTTE?
“As mentioned previously elsewhere, wearing a yellow robe doesn’t make anybody religious unless they practice Lord Buddha’s teachings.” So who decides whether someone is practicing “Lord Buddha’s teachings” ? Or do you decide when they start killing and raping people?
“You are talking about cases before the courts. The culprits should get the maximum punishment. ” Why don’t you say out loud that the culprits are soldiers? That’s all I want from you, an honest admission that the army HAS raped and killed.
I freely admit that the LTTE murdered innocents, but there is no allegation of rape against them. Produce one if you can.
“Why not bring LTTE’s rape and murder allegations too, before the courts?” So you don’t know that the cases are in courts and some in fact finished long ago? And that there are no rape allegations?
You pretend that the Army and the Buddhist monks are absolutely holy and beyond reproach.

Both our Maha Sangha and the Army deserve praise for the unparalleled service they rendered to our motherland.
If not for the four immeasurables; Metta (benevolence), Karuna (compassion), Muditha (empathy) and Upeksha (equanimity) of Maha Sangha and the nonpareil patriotism of our Army, this country would have in an uncontrollable blood bath fueled by terrorism, religious unrest and hatred.

“A Buddhist will never think of taking somebody’s life”. Are those thugs and armed forces personnel who killed innocent Tamils are not Buddhists. Even small children were not spared as evidenced by the unearthing of skeletons of children during excavation in Jaffna fort which was occupied by army for 30 years. This is the reason why Sri Lanka government does not want an impartial international panel to inquire into crimes committed by their security forces. Mahawamsa sates that killing a Tamil is not a sin and killing a Tamil converted to Buddhism is only half a sin. When one is brainwashed with this type of hatred, there is no surprise in the behaviour of Sri Lanka armed forces whether in Sri Lanka or abroad.

Don’t mix persona;l moral and religious values with the requirements of the State in governance. Hardly any society has done so in the past. We would be the only fools to do so in the name of virtue

        Raja Senananyake
I don’t agree with you. Religion and the State are interconnected in many countries.
For an example; US Presidents take oath of office with their hand on the Bible. That means the US President should be a Christian. Being a Sinhalese Buddhist country, we are more liberal than the US. Our Presidents talk oath of office before the Chief Justice. President Sirisena even deviated from that practice by taking oath of office before Senior Supreme Court Justice Kanagasabapathy Sripavan, bypassing the Chief Justice.
As Venerable Elle Gunawamsa Thero says, the next President should took oath of office before the Most Sacred Tooth Relic which is the symbol of kingship, sovereignty and religious authority. It it time we start it as a practice.

          Champa,
Lying again , are we? “some presidents, like Theodore Roosevelt didn’t use the Bible. Neither did John Quincy Adams and Franklin Pierce; instead they placed their left hand on a law book”
The requirement for a Bible is only traditional, not obligatory. Do your research before you open your mouth.
“As Venerable Elle Gunawamsa Thero says, the next President should took oath of office before the Most Sacred Tooth Relic “
So you are a follower of this notorious thug? What is this holy relic anyway? Why is no one allowed to check its authenticity?

Learn to “read and understand” before jumping into conclusions.
Did I say “ALL” US Presidents? I simply said “US Presidents.” Did I use the word “obligatory” anywhere? I didn’t.
I never open my mouth in vain. I didn’t see any reason to do a “research” to write my above two sentences. It is general knowledge. You boast you have done a research about the topic right? Well, your “research” has many lapses. Let me point out.
There is a choice for US Presidents to “swear” or “affirm” when taking oath of office.
            1. Franklin Pierce didn’t “swear.” He only “affirmed.” The reason was his son’s death two months prior to his taking oath. Being a devoted Christian, he believed that it was a punishment for his sins. So he opted not to use the Bibile.
            2. John Quincy Adams and his father were regarded as the most religious of the first six Presidents. He read the Bible virtually every morning. Yet Quincy chose to swear in with his hand on a Constitutional Law Volume. He didn’t even campaign for his Presidency. He is regarded as one of the two worst Presidents in the US. The other one is Bush. Same as Pierce’s, his infant daughter also died in an agonizing illness.
            3. Theodore Roosevelt didn’t use the Bible when he was “rushed” to take oath following the assassination of William McKinley.
            4. Lyndon Baines Johnson was sworn in using a Catholic missal belonging to the slain President Kennedy after Kennedy’s assassination as there was no Bible aboard Air Force One.
What I am trying to point out is, though there are 4 examples of not using the Bible, they all were good Christians.

Your last para about Venerable Elle Gunawamsa Thero and my religious beliefs shows your upbringing. No reply is necessary.
Derogatory remarks about Buddhism and Maha Sangha by non-Buddhists and atheists are common in this “forum of intellectuals.” I am immune to them.
As a Sinhalese Buddhist, I never challenge other people’s religious beliefs or make offensive remarks about their religious leaders.
I respect my religion and the same way I respect other people’s religions and their right to follow and practice whatever religion they believe in, whether it is an official religion or a folk religion. That is the difference between Sinhalese Buddhists and others.
Yes, I fully endorse what Venerable Elle Gunawamsa Thero said and insist that the next President should take oath of office before the Most Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy.
Sinhalese Buddhists should make sure to elect a Buddhist as the next President who is not afraid to take over the Buddha Sasana portfolio as President Sirisena’s intention to re-implement the death penalty is the biggest blow to Buddha Sasana in Sri Lanka.
Not only that, Sinhalese Buddhists should make sure to elect a party as the majority in the Parliament whose leader, the future Prime Minister, is a Buddhist by birth not by conversion.
We were subjected to enough attacks, denigration, devaluation and hatred not to mention the heartache we feel on daily basis by seeing the discrimination to Buddhism, Maha Sangha and Buddhists.
As the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa pointed out, opening even a “Dhamma School” in a temple is also now restricted.
The latest is the “Sangha Division and Elimination Act.” We should demand the government to WITHDRAW THIS PARLIAMENTARY ACT.
We are not going through this again. Our voice is the majority. It is time we fight for our rights, too.

Mr President, find the vipers and kill them, and not the rat snakes. Who are the vipers: they are those Ministers, politicians, their acolyte criminal gangsters, high level officials in the government and businessmen that import drugs by the container load, spring out drug containers out of the Port with no examination, and then organize their distribution throughout the island. These are the ones that corrupt and ruin the nation, make a fat profit, and pretend to the public that they are pious, philantropists etc. Arrest them, and hang them along streets and in front of the Presidential Secretariat, make them an example to deter others. Take your blunt sword out and chop their heads off. But don’t kill rat snakes, that have become victims of drugs; these are the fellows and women caught with a gram or two of the drugs, kept for their consumption, the addicts corrupted and made sick by the traders of drugs. For them living itself is death, and they need rehabilitation; your threats of hanging them because some idiotic judge sentenced them to be hanged is just ridiculous. Hope you have the common sense in discriminating who deserves to be hanged and who is not.

It is certain that some ‘innocents’ will be hung by the neck till death on trumped up charges. The whole country has to share the guilt.
It has been suggested that the Lankan Armed Services be given Police powers in drug operations. This will be the new version of White-vans. This will be on top of ‘skull crushing’ and ‘ear drum blowing’.

Mr. President: Listen to what National List MP Jayampathy Wickramaratne says: ” Implementing Capital Punishment is not going to do any good, unless detection mechanisms are properly established”. What does he say and communicate? That is” The conviction mechanisms are not proper”. Does that apply to all those “Drug Lords” operating from within their “Death Row” cells, including Pottu Naufar who was found guilty and sentenced to “Death” for murdering the Judge Late Mr. Abeyratne who convicted him and handed down that sentence? Mr. President & MP Jayampathy: Please watch the series of episodes titled “NARCOS” and you would definitely learn more of the “Business Cartel” of this lucrative DRUG BUSINESS. Next think of all those “VICTIMS” of these crimes. For the first time I came to know that there is Government Agency that is set up for this purpose of looking after the “Welfare” of them, when it was brought to our attention at a TV programme – “Aluth Parlimenthuwa”. Surprisingly, the spokesman representing that “Agency” and a “University Don” described how he “Interviewed” hundreds of the convicted and jailed persons; but has not “Met” or “Interviewed” a single of the VICTIMS or the FAMILIES. You know what number of NGOs and Human Rights Groups are there to SPEAK and REPRESENT the “Convicted”; but how many SPEAK for or REPRESENT the “VICTIMS” that could number to hundreds and hundreds. Recently, one NOGO was questioning “Why” can’t jailed convicts be allowed the use of cell phones and that is to “DENY” a “Human Right”. You and all Legislators, including all those NGO & Human Rights “Cartels” know how these “Drug Lords” are operating and what a MENACE they are to this society. Did you also hear, your own Defense Secretary explaining how a Navy captured foreign ship operators carrying 100 KG of Drugs are fighting their case for the last two years, through the “Technical Arguments” presented to courts by retaining YOUR “President Counsels”. My comment will be continued….abiding the comment policy of CT.

Death sentence is medieval… We call the country a Sinhala Buddhist country, and then execute people at the same time. Perhaps some Parliamentarians may roll too or will they? No way, only the sprats will be executed and not the Sharks. Drug lords should be sentenced for life and their assets taken over and sold to fund a rehabilitation program for addicts. Find alternate solutions Mr President, don’t go back to the dark ages .

Sri lanka needs death penulty. Else where it said, all the 18 names submitted to president include only the small scale Drug Dealers and none of the king pins who imported drugs and still owners of the business in the parliament and many big places are not caught. Those may be protected by the govt such as Mangala Samaraweera who says only the buddhist organizations heads are importing drugs.

My comment continued….. Recently we saw how a wife of a prisoner waiting to board a bus in front of Welikada jail at Baseline Road was SAVED by the undercover STF personnel. That was a “Contract Killing” arranged by another convicted criminal living in the jail. It is now known that thousands and thousands of calls have gone out from the jail inmates to outside criminals and hundreds and hundreds of calls have been replied. This include those of the phones used by the two in remand custody in connection with the “Bond Scam”. It is learned, even “Makandure Madusha” who is “Hiding” abroad has contacts with criminals both inside and outside jails, and “Execute” operations very successfully. What have you done to address these issues? Isn’t there a system to “GAG”these or “Monitor” these communication channels? How all these “Very Sophisticated” communications equipment got inside the jail houses? You spend millions and billions to import luxury vehicles for the use of Legislators; but cannot think of spending quarter of that amount and install proper mechanisms to curb these operation. Therefore, I propose you to consider imposing the “Capital Punishment” on all those, including the Legislators, Prison and Law Enforcement officials who have “Overlooked” and “Neglected” their duty of SERVING and PROTECTING the PEOPLE. Sorry, that could easily include you too. That is how I look at this issue of “Capital Punishment?

“The bhikku who was caught for the murder is now being accused for pedophilia.”

Who arrested the murderer. Whoever arrested him must have seen him wearing saffron robe yet the saffron clad murderer has been arrested. The Chapter II in the constitution should be amended to provide impunity from murders to those who normally wear saffron robes and allow them to legally practice paedophilia.

Sinhala/Buddhism demand such perks for their saffron clad abusers.

If a person is convicted in a court for drug trafficking & death penalty has been imposed, he/she must be given the punishment without being held as a prisoner for lifetime.

Life imprisonment is another punishment for another crime so nobody must be given a punishment for uncommitted crime.

So if death penalty isn’t given for such convicted, they must be freed.

  • 2
    1

Death penalty for any crime is useless in detering the crime. The criminals know if they are caught they will get long sentences but they do it anyways; is it because they think “Oh it is okay to be in prison for 20-life as long as I am not killed”? I don’t think so. Death penalty is the most irreversible punishment and it should never be enacted for any criminal convicted for any crime. Does not matter how heinous a crime is killing a wrongly convicted man/woman by the state would be far more heinous.

Maithripala gives me the impression time and again that he is a petty meany, and not a leader at all. From the moment he assumed office he has demonstrated he is damn scared to go after the corrupt and mighty but will not hesitate to punish harshly the vulnerable for their minor infractions for survival, in order to hoodwink the world he is in charge. He has a self-righteous streak. Like a village school master he berates endlessly a ‘captive’ audience while his own morals are laughable. Consider the first thing he did on assuming the presidency: appointing his brother as Chairman, Sri Lanka Telecom. It was like a punch in the face to the Yahapalanaya movement that had helped him win and was expecting him to fulfil his promises to clean up. Only hours later his dear son, who displays limited intelligence, was acting up in a Colombo nightspot. For me the moment of revelation was when he castigated the FCID lady on national TV for handcuffing Gota and other ex-military top brass and dragging them to court. It was so transparent that he had succumbed to threats by agents of the deep state and mafia monks and that he was beginning to compromise. It proved beyond any doubt to the people who had placed their trust in him that they had indeed made a fatal error: they had chosen a moral coward to fight corruption and injustice. Finally the fate of the 2015 January mandate was sealed when he decided to takeover the leadership of the SLFP that was offered to him by the treacherous Rajapaksa faction. The greedy Maithri didn’t realize it was a trap. A man who promised to fulfill the election pledges and stepdown after one term, now began to talk about a second term.
    (Contd,)

  • 11
    0

    (Contd.)
He started to attack on public stages those who had brought him to power while making deals behind the curtain with the deposed Rajapaksa mafia, the powerful racist monks, the fascist elements in the military, and the degenerate Sirasa media. He has thus reverted the country to the political culture of backroom deal making – Sri Lankan style ‘game’ politics – in order to consolidate his power. In the meantime, his brother Dudley has transformed himself overnight from a sarong-clad small-time Mudhalali into a three-piece-suited new rich corporate shark. His daughter and son-in-law are unabashedly taking advantage of their kinship tie to grab business deals in unfair competition and amass wealth. Amidst all this, Maithri himself was caught with his pants (sarong) down in the bribery scandal involving his chief of staff Mahanama.
    .
Evidently Maithri is not a moral person, but a shameless self-righteous moralist, preaching to naïve, rural Buddhist audiences while hobnobbing with the cynical Colombo powerbrokers and shady dealmakers. In this game of hoodwinking he is in cahoots with the moral guardians of our society such as monks, priests, bishops, mullahs and the rest of the fake holy men. Day after day, the dysfunctional Sri Lankan TV shows him visiting temples, schools and other such safe spots. He is ushered in with all the pomp and protocol worthy of the Athi Garu Janadhipathi Thuma including Kandyan Drummers. He goes in, steps onto the stage and there ….. he takes off like a monkey with its ass on fire …… freaking out about evil forces that are criticizing him …… blasting off into a moralizing harangue about dangerous criminals such as unruly students, internet trolls, denizens of the social media and women who buy alcohol.
    (Contd.)

  • 12
    0

    (Contd.)

Then he goes into a frenzy about swords and bras, and swears he’ll cut everything and everybody to size. He then gets the poor rural children to bow down at his feet, and then goes to the temple and himself prostrates before comatose monks with his butt up in the air for the benefit of TV cameras.

Why only drug traffickers? Why not go the whole hog & pass the death sentence to murders, rapists, & paedophiles as well? After all, there are despicable crimes too or are they lesser crimes than drug peddling?

If Srisena believes that the death sentence will be a deterrent & bring down the drug menace, surely the same theory should apply to other crimes as well. If the same punishment is dished out to those responsible for large scale corruption & bleeding the country dry, including treason, SL will be free of all crimes & would have got rid of the yob parliamentarians & some undesirable Buddhist monks too, as a bonus. SL can then be proud of a righteous society. Of course there is the question of ‘ranaviruwo’. Maybe crimes against humanity in the course of saving the country could be exempt.

Mr. president /Prime Minister, before you implement the death penalty on”Drug Lords” why don’t you allow the existing Laws to be implemented against the dastardly killings of innocent people by the last regime some of which are glaring before our eyes , for that matter not only those but also the previous murders which have been conveniently swept under the carpet. Remember you were elected primarily on that promise and other unlawful and corrupt activities of the last regime. Please remember neither you nor the present government has been elected to protect anyone found guilty of criminal offences here or abroad. Even at this late stage if you and PM take necessary action with sterling honesty you have a chance of re-election in 2020 and not otherwise please.

If its the law of the land is to put to death then no one can oppose it. At the same time the President, as he is strong on putting the drug dealers to death should show the same enthusiasm in locking up the previous and present government politicians for bribery and corruption. Unfortunately even the special courts, three of them in all, are not ready yet and its moving at a very slow pace. Its time either the President removes the Minister of Justice and the Chief Justice from their posts as they are delaying or resign from his Presidential post. We also saw Basil getting time off from his cases and going to USA for 4 months for treatment. Is Basil getting all his parts replaced? What about Gotabaya, for the construction of his parents tomb case he was not even named as an accused when the case was called? What is this joke? Latest joke is when the Parliament was to discuss NY Times article re: Mahinda’s bribe there is no quorum in the Parliament. It appears that from President down wards running through the PM, and other Ministers and MPs all are ROGUES!

“Fearless” Judge Sarath Ambepitiya sentenced a young mother/widow to life imprisonment for possession of 30 mg heroin.
(He and bodyguard were shot dead by drug dealer Potta Nawfer soon after and his widow given a “compensation” of Rs Five Million by president CBK) – He also sentenced Velupillai Prabakaran to 200 years imprisonment for the Central Bank bombing.
    These were exaggerated/ impractical punishments.

Jail sentences – rigorous – for importing/selling drugs – will deter this trade.
Capital punishments are now considered excessive for crimes other than proven premeditated murder, by many countries.

Addiction engulfs many aspects of our lives. The longer the drugs feed the body, the more difficult it is to overcome the issue by sheer will power alone. Saving, healing and deliverance provides a lasting cure for drug addicts to receive total liberation and freedom as the spirit of addiction needs a spiritual solution.
Drug dealers polluting society, specially the school children, need to be punished severely by the state judicially. This is not private murder or man slaughter. In the bible, Rom. 13, the state is allowed to use the sword against evil to eliminate it.

That is an absolute lie. How come only you say this? Many drug peddlers were arrested in the North. Their connection is with Indian fishermen and Tamilnadu.
I am eagerly waiting to see until our Army is given police narcotic powers so that they can dismantle the major drug network in the North linked to Tamilnadu.

” Many drug peddlers were arrested in the North. “

The policemen serving in the North tell me Ganga comes from Kerala and distributed by a drug cartel through out the island which is powerful than the regional DIGs, ….
Most powder comes from other countries and transshipment and distribution take place in Negombo. The guardian angels live in Colombo.

If you have no idea what was going on in the island ask others. Please stop s******g in this forum as you go along.

The army, navy, air force, STF and other paramilitary forces are stationed in the North and they already have powers to arrest any unauthorised movement in the sea or shipment.

The problem is that those in Colombo have more powers to aid and abet illegal activities.

You are not only a stupid but an ill-informed bigoted liar too.

What a joker! Your above line is proof that you have no idea that our tri forces have not entrusted to guard the coastal areas and the sea in the North like before. Navy has been asked to stop paroling some time ago. When our tri forces are entrusted with necessary powers, everybody will see a big progress in dismantling the drug network in Sri Lanka.
For your information, I have written many times before, here and elsewhere, that there is a drug ring operating from North to Negombo where politicians are involved.

“is Drugs such a big problem in Sri Lanka to bring death Penalty?”

Drug cartels in Sri Lanka is run buy regional bosses and have complete protection from Colombo. One could do nothing about it. A policeman told me it was frustrating to let go motor vehicles transporting drugs, thanks to the drug barons’ guardian angels in Colombo.

Do you think this is what Buddha (the awakened one) wanted when he visited this island some 2500 years ago given the status of Buddha Sasana in the constitution?
