President’s Brother Wants More Power At SLT

President Maithripala Sirisena’s brother and Chairman, Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), Kumarasinghe Sirisena has vowed to get full executive powers at Sri Lanka Telecom, SLT sources told Colombo Telegraph.

Kumarasinghe SirisenaKumarasinghe was appointed as SLT Chairman on January 23rd by President Sirisena, although he promised to end nepotism.

In the midst of a heated SLT Board meeting the Chairman has said that he will ‘talk to my (his) brother’ regarding this. SLT sources say that Kumarasinghe does not want professionals running things at SLT and is seeking greater powers to override such people.

I’m sure that this crude slander has been “manufactured” by taking things out of context.

However, the (seemingly unsubstantiated) accounts of the colossal salaries being paid to Kumarasinghe Sirisena have always been shocking, but I’ve put the entire matter “on hold” until somebody produces exact figures.

Is this Sira up to speed with the rapidly changing Internet based communications, let alone keeping up with I phone technology which will soon control the lives of every one in the West.

Although our great majority don’t have to worry about it, Kumara Sira has to deliver to the expectations of the Elite , Anglican and the UNP Sinhala Buddhists who acts like the Elite.

Are these extra powers he is seeking from the brother, needed for fulfilling those Elite needs in I phones?.

Or is to do deals like the ones our CB boss does to help Yahapalanaya.

He looks a THUG. Looks exactly similar to his brother who was hacked to death by the husband of his mistress. How can these siblings run the country in a civilized manner?

MR appointed uneducated and mentally and morally unsuitable relatives to very important positions. Mithiry appointing suitably educated people reliable to him at this critical situation to save him from the corrupted vultures is not wrong but it is the wise thing- we have to think by sitting in his position. Tamils have to give all their support to the present government to achieve a lasting piece and if that fails , we have to convince international community that our earlier demand is correct and it is the one and only solution in srilanka for Tamils. We have already suffered 60 years and why not few more years – things are moving at the right direction – Srilanka should grasp this situation and act in a wise manner to claim back our beautiful country. The ball is in Singhalese court. India or China will never work for us – we have to work for ourselves – not to allow others to steal firewood from a burning house(that is reality)

I am most certain that he does not have domain knowledge to run a telecommunications company. All his life, he was a government servant and we know the caliber of the government servants in Sri Lanka. For goodness sake, Please let the professionals handle this as telecommunication industry is fast moving and challenging. People equipped with the right skill set and knowledge needs to placed at the management level to make strategic decisions quickly in response to rapid changing market in order to make SLT more profitable.

Take cue from Singtel from Singapore.

SLT was running profitably, to replace the head of SLT by a Sirisena was the biggest mistake the President made. He will reap the benefit of his miscalculation. What is told as Sirisena’s qualifications for the post are few diplomas, which can be obtained within one or 2 years without much preparation.

The siblings are interested in the acquisition of more and more power.Reminds one of the adage ” POWER CORRUPTS AND ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS AbSOLUTELY” Remember how the former regime’s two big brothers became filthy rich with ill gotten lucre and accumulated loot. WE do not see any difference between the notoriety of the former brothers and the present siblings. both breeds have thugs and marauders in their breed. So carry on regardless.

Former CEO was paid US$20K per month and was a MR stooge that did not have qualifications to run a SP company.
SLT got few good managers that understand the need to upgrade and bring in valuable technology and services.
I was asked and gave free advise and also SLT try to change 50 year old OSS,and BSS bringing in global top companies and not Chinese since they are 6th in global tech expertise.
MR relation was involved with kappam and deal got stuck and I told straight to their face that SL people pay for this and will not give a cent for these rouges. They never expected that I will tell to their face.
Asking our own experts to come and work in SL come with, sheer frustration due to these crooks and thugs.
These uneducated people bring in so much sufferings to the country and only way to fix this is to changing the constitution so that every one is accountable for their deeds.
