Ex-Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and suspended IGP Pujith Jayasundara checked into the Cardiac unit of the Colombo National Hospital and the Police Hospital this morning, after details of the Attorney General’s manic witch hunt to arrest them was issued to the media. The duo have however been arrested at the two hospitals a short while ago by the CID.
Pujith and Hemasiri are now charged with murder and named as suspects of the Easter bombings and if convicted, could face death penalty and up to 52 years in jail as a result of the charges brought against them.
Sirisena lackey AG Dappula De Livera wrote to Acting IGP instructing him to name suspended IGP Pujith Jayasundara and former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando, as suspects in the Easter Sunday attacks – for the resultant loss of lives and property damage.
According to Attorney General’s coordinating officer State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, Dappula initially conveyed these instructions to the Acting IGP on Thursday but no action was taken until yesterday.
Dappula’s close associate Jayaratne said the AG has also instructed the Acting IGP to show cause as to why his instructions were not promptly implemented.
In his letter, Dappula had informed the Acting IGP that sufficient evidence is available to charge Pujith and Hemasiri with below provisions of the Penal Code:
296. Punishment for murder.
298. Causing death by negligence.
328. Causing hurt by an act which endangers life or the personal safety of others.
329. Causing grievous hurt by act which endangers life or the personal safety of others.

If you look at the history of voting and the punishment given by the God to corrupt politicians in SL, you should realize that SL voters & the God have been behaving nearly in the same way: Rewarding the corrupt; not punishing! There is no other way to explain politicians well known for corruption (taking bribes, stealing public money via commission, killing and/or harassing critics) being elected to public offices at all levels. Therefore, I don’t have much hope for God to “seal at the appropriate time”!
Besides, since the Pope Francis has now declared that HE agrees with Newtonian/Galilean version of Creation which says that God only created Natural laws for the Universe to function & therefore DO NOT intervene intermittently, we may have to give up altogether the long held belief that “things happen according to the will of the God”. I have no high regard for Hemasiri Fdo & Pujith Jayasundara but it is blatantly obvious that these 2 cronies are being sacrificed for the survival of Sirisena. I suppose if you are in the business of a**e licking, you should be aware that you will be hung out to dry once you are of no use to the lord & master but even cronies don’t deserve to be charged with a crime that has the death sentence or a long jail term for which they are only partly (if at all) to be blamed. Of course, this could be an elaborate charade & the charges could be dropped once Sirisena is back (as he would hope) in power & everybody, including the gullible public, would be happy that action had been taken. Sirisena is, indeed, thick with no conscience at all if he truly believes that he can deflect the blame to others & live with it.
Anyway, the fact that all these high profile crooks, cronies & criminals get themselves admitted to hospital the moment an arrest warrant is issued say a lot about the medical profession in SL. My GP would not give (& I dare not ask) a medical certificate to keep me off from work even for one day if he thinks I am well enough to work because giving a false report is considered a fraud, therefore, a criminal offence, yet senior doctors in SL are happy to hospitalise offenders wanted by the police without any illness (thereby depriving a needy sick person of a hospital bed as well). The fact that it is done openly, knowing very well that nobody believes it & the damage to their reputation seems to be of little concern.

Good Sense: Who made this a high drama? A person directed to be “Arrested” is not same to be “Guilty”. That “Guilty” part is for the Judges and Courts. If this “Official” irrespective of him being “Dappula” or any other “pula”, so long as he/she is the “Peoples’ Prosecutor” by the Official Designation of Attorney General, this action has to be originated from that “Office”. It is left to the AG to “Prove” his decision in “Courts”, (that again an Institution of the People) before an “Examining” official named a “Judge” (another person of the People). If you learn and know this process, it is not “Mind Boggling” at all. An example: Remember, when the AG (Peoples’ Prosecutor) ordered the “Arrest” of Gotabaya Rajapaksa over a case to be filed against, he (Gota) rushed to Courts and obtained an “Order” preventing the AG executing that decision. Like that there are many, who “Run” to Courts and get such “Decisions” even “Before” that “Official” makes a decision. That perhaps could be “Mind Boggling” and more “Boggling” to learn why these TWO to be “Arrested” admitted to hospital rather than to file a “Writ” in Courts, learning from GOTA and others.
