Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa joined the ranks of slain Libyan President Muammar Gaddaffi, deceased Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad when he used his time at the UN General Assembly’s 68th Session in New York last week to rail against the world’s double standards and moral policing of targeted states and charged that Human Rights was being as a tool for interference in developing states. Few heard the President’s bombastic speech however since many seats in the assembly were empty during the Sri Lankan President’s slot.

Its such a shame that Rajpal A did not cover the event for the Daily Noose.
He would indeed done a worthwhile job of “photo snooking” it and had front page Noose as “huge”, “massive” selection of the delegates listening “intently” to “wise” words of our President.
Must admit his Editorial was most entertaining

Come on people; do not insult the great president who eradicated the ruthless terrorists. He is absolutely capable to advice the UN and the world’s super powers on how to eradicate terrorism. What is wrong with his speech? He did the best although English is not his first language. okay? He spoke perfectly the Asian version of Singalish. I think he is cool.
You know what; it is absolutely cool to see so many representatives from great countries’ are participated during MR’s speech. I show countries such as China, Russia, Bangladesh, Iran, Belarus, Burma, North Korea, Maldives, Sudan, Chad, Zimbabwe, Syria, Cuba, Eritrea, Laos, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Equatorial Guinea, and Libya.
What is wrong with this? Come on people, it is more than enough for a guy from Medamulla, Hambantota.

citizen,
You say…….do not insult the great president who eradicated the ruthless terrorists.
We thought it was General Sarath Fonseka who eradicated terrorists and won the war after surviving three LTTE suicide attempts.
Ex.President Madam Chandrika Bandaranaike gave an open check to then Army commander to finish the war, but all of them failed.
Only Gen. SF gave assurance that he will finish the war and he did it, but ultimately he had to eat Jail Rice at Welikada Prison. This is what happened to the war hero under Rajapakses.
Also you missed three more countries in the above list.
They are Swaziland, Seyshells and Uganda.
Take care.

After taking a plane load entourage “Nade” to UN is this all what President Rajapakse achieved.
UN is mostly comprised with state heads of Gentleman, honest and truthful people. Not the Liars, cheaters, crooks and thugs. They are very few. Liars and cheaters are not welcomed at UN or anywhere else.
Even Indian Prime Minister did not meet President Rajapakse in UN after five days of stay.Who are the friends.
http://www.sundaytimes.lk/latest/38251-president-rajapaksa-fails-to-meet-indian-pm-timing-inconvenient-.html
If so other than the UN half hour speech what else President Rajapakse did in New York for five days with his entourage. How many other heads of states he met other than the photo-op with US President Barak Obama. Where are the new Business deals. Who are the new contacts.
Looks like UN AGM is a Holiday fun and a shopping tour for Rajapakses and the clan wasting Billions of rupees of Tax payer money.
Honest Gentlemen always move with other Educated, wise and Honest gentlemen while Crooks tell lies to Al Jazeera.
Await for CHOGM showdown……or shutdown.

LTTE paved we Tamils and Sighalese to suffer and fall apart. It is absurd now to look up and spit to tarnish the good name of our country where we lived more than 2500 years in harmony. Rajapaksha as the President will have to protect his country by hook or crook. We should blame ourselves for supporting and accommodating those LTTE leaders who themselves craving for power.

Oh, there is one Tamil Gentleman who speaks the truth. Thanks Mr. Rajan. Most of the comments are political, as U said, President of Sri Lanka cannot go and tell the UN that “WE VIOLATED HUMAN RIGHTS”, even IF it has happen. All these happened because LTTE leadership wanted power and money (like they educated their children in Europe while innocent Tamils suffered). Well said Mr. Rajan !!!

Great comment Mr Rajan. Well said. most people are just shouting without knowing what really happend. The president did the right thing any country president should do.Safe guard the nation and its reputation. Im sure SELVAM KUMAR (commented before) is a person who has got effected because people like him are getting chased out of countries like Canada and UK for staying on sympathy grounds. its a shame. He is trying to hide the fact that DISGRACE MURDERER on EARTH WAS THE LTTE. and trying to hit it back at the president. PRABAKARAN IS THE BLOOD THIRSTY TERRORIST THAT devastated over million lives of SRI LANKANS. and thanks to the efforts of the forces we are now free to live in harmony and peace. We would have had casualties as any war, but now is the time to stop hatred and build the country together. so we should all stop making stupid comments and start doing something good for the country.

guys, be realistic. If u’re even a lil bit familiar with the way UNGA, u should know this is nothing new. Nobody wants to listen to a leader of a small nation like SL. So throughout the history, ‘house has never been full’ when Sri Lankan head of state stood to address the UN. It is a well known fact & no secret that UN audience is only full when the US president stands to give the opening speech. There have been exceptions when entertaining leaders like Gadaffi was there. I mean he was like our very own Mervyn Silva. We’d never take him seriously but still we’d never miss a speech of him çause they’re soo entertaining. :D So plz stop making absurd remarks. MR did not had a unique experience, every single SL leader (except late J.R Jayewardene who never took the trouble of addressing the UN) has had the same experience.
/
Bonggo / October 3, 2013

Let’s look on the bright side. When you consider the total cost of getting MR to NY to address the UN – the costs associated with him and his hangers on, including, would you believe it, the former Foreign Minister, Rohitha Bogollogamuwa – and the few minutes for which MR spoke at the UN, MR becomes one of the most expensive public speakers in the world. Once again, SL has something to brag about!

I guess all of you all forgot that he paid LTTE Millions of Rupees to keep away the Northern People from voting at the first Presidential Elections he contested. The deal was brokered by Tiran Alles.
How many Bombs and guns did that money buy?
So do not try to whitewash him.
He is as guilty for the crimes LTTE committed

I dont understand what some people are saying. i lived in SL and still in there. for past 30 years i heard only war and only now for last 4 years we live in safe country. dont play politics . sri lanka issafe because this man’s leadership. not any UN shit who talk about Human rights. where is those UN people when US drown kiss innocence civilians. what are they doing when Isral is occupying palatine land ? buss shit. its all politics. no one is 100 correct so does MR. but he brought safe living environment to all sri Lankans. and to the people who thinks that 30 years buildup of terrorism can be reconciled within 4 years, dam you should get better primary education. western nations dont wants to listen him, because he is not a puppet of them. but remember now there are no bombs, we leave homes in the morning with 100 % certainty that we can come home safe. most people who comment here dont know the ground situation. that’s pathetic.
