Rajapaksa Chief Justice Moves To Legally Correct Flawed CJ Shirani B impeachment

A lengthy process put in motion by the Rajapaksa Administration following the appointment of the de facto Chief Justice Mohan Peiris to legally “repair” the flawed impeachment proceedings against Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake will come full circle today.

CJ Shirani Bandaranayake

CJ Shirani Bandaranayake

The Supreme Court bench appointed by Pieris amid much criticism since he himself was a beneficiary by the controversial sacking of Bandaranayake, will deliver its verdict today on the ruling by the Court of Appeal quashing the findings of the Parliamentary Select Committee that inquired into the impeachment charges.

A five judge divisional bench comprising Justices Saleeem Marsoof, Chandra Ekanayake, Sathya Hettige, Eva Wanasundara, and Rohini Marasinghe was appointed  by de facto CJ Pieris to hear the petition filed by the Attorney General’s Department.

If the Writ Certiorari issued by the Court of Appeal is overturned today, it will mark the beginning of the Rajapaksa Administration’s ‘corrective’ procedure to turn a massive travesty of justice against the country’s Chief Justice into a legal sacking.

Critics said the likely verdict overturning the Court of Appeal writ, would be a case of truly burying the legacy of recently deceased Court of Appeal President, Justice Sriskandarajah who was hailed for his courageous decision at the time.

In a Freudian slip, the state owned Daily News announced the Supreme Court’s pending decision with the following headline: Shirani Bandaranayake matter: SC judgement against CA ruling today.

The expected verdict will once again confirm that the obviously ‘ Naked Emperor’ is ‘ NOT NAKED’! Let us pretend that it is so. To hell with the integrity of our legal system and the injustice meted to C.J . Shirani Bandaranayake. Should we care? How much and how many issues can we care about? Let usonly worry about keeping our heads above the rising waters!

Didn’t you during the time of the impeachment shout to heavens above about setting up a public fund to aid the beleaguered CJ?

Care to give a status update of that?

        Dev,

Please quote what I exactly said, within inverted commas.

          Here you go:

“Funds should be raised from the public to provide her and her family physical security. “

From 16th of Jan 2013 in your reply to an article by Basil Fernando.

So I repeat the question from above, any status update on this public fund you were talking about ??

Dr RN is no different. Like all that infighting rump LTTE, he too has been looking for a popular figure to lead an uprising and overthrow MR. Fortunately for Sri Lanka, the majority foresees their evil desires.

Yes, I am for a drastic change in the quality of our governance. This can be achieved through popular and vocal, but peaceful, public resistance and / or a constitutional change in government. It does not matter to me who rules, but I want the ruler/s to provide good governance. However, I am not part of the LTTE or any other rump, as I unequivocally stand for a just, fair , progressive and united Sri Lanka for all citizens. Do not bring in the LTTE factor to confuse and confound nationally critical issues. The Tiger is dead for all intents and purposes and flogging it ad infinatum would not bear fruit anymore.

“In a Freudian slip, the state owned Daily News announced the Supreme Court’s pending decision with the following headline: Shirani Bandaranayake matter: SC judgement against CA ruling today”. You could not have said it better. This begs the question as to how Justice Sri Skandarajah met with such an untimely death. Bensen

Who are these judges. I respect only one that is Marsoof. Others are directly boot likers of Rajapakse. I don’t know how Marsoof is going to deliver the judgement in favour of Rajapakse regime. But what to do. He has to or else ….. he will also be fixed by ruthless regime.

As a Supreme Court judge he can publickly state the truth because his position and public announcement will make it very difficult for Rajapaksa to harm him since doing so will immediately focus domestic and international accusations on Rajapaksa. If TNA can pointedly criticise Rajapaksa regime why can’t Marsoof.

What is the point in crying over spilt milk. I being a layman knew what was coming when all our fools voted to MR just after the war victory. I was a lone fighter even in my family to oppose voting this Monster into power, I even had to fall out with my close family members over casting their votes to this Monster. For some reason I KNEW WHAT WAS COMING. Then my heart froze when our self centred, opportunist who had sold our community for a song, none other than Rauf Hakeem opted to go with the PA to vote for the 18th amendment. Why can’t a so called learned idiot understand what was coming. I KNEW WHAT WAS COMING. Now rest is known to all and wait for more to come. Let me conclude by saying AND THEN THEY CAME FOR ME. Now no one is safe from the brutality of this regime. It’s a bloody curse inflicted on us by the foolish voters and it is not even possible to vote them out, as there is no way of conducting a free and fair poll, no police, no justice.Everything is manipulated and controlled by this regime. Only divine intervention or mass uprising can revert back the situation to normalcy where people can live with dignity.

Except Marsoof and Eva, all others are boot lickers. So the majority will prevail. Having seen Justice Sriskandarajah’s demotion, the agony and demise, no one can blame Marsoof and Eva also if they go along with the majority.

Mohan Peiries shall take all the blame. Had he denied this appointment and advised the govt. properly, it would have been different today. But, now he says there is no law and order anywhere in the world.

Why Eva and Marsoof out? They are more boot lickers than others now?

Any decision made today by the Courts will not count as the whole world knows clearly that sending CJ Shiranee was illegal. The regime can bring about any decision from the courts but every single individual in SRi Lanka and abroad know very well what the Rajapakse is up to. No decision from the group appointed by the Cheap Justice will change this.
