Striking a brutal blow to the fight for gay rights in the country, the Rajapaksa state media yesterday has referred to an opposition parliamentarian as a “poor poofter”, language hitherto unprecedented in a national English language newspaper.
The Daily News, state controlled newspaper headlined a rebuttal to UNP Parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera “Mangy lost it, the silly poofter“.
Referring to the Parliamentarian as a ‘moron’ and an ‘imbecile’ Daily News Editor Rajpal Abeynayake asked Samaraweera to take up his issues with the CID after the MP reacted an article in the newspaper that alleged he had been a part of a major import scandal.
“It is the CID that opened the investigation against you, you imbecile! You got a beef with that take it up with the CID and while you are at it remember it will take a lot more than a teeth gnashing idiot who thought he can run Lake House from the lower board room to intimidate journalists for reporting on an investigation that obviously has him losing all his marbles probably — we wager — due to the credibility of the CID’s case file,” the country’s state media said, revealing that the culture of writing and reporting at the institution had reached a nadir.
Accusing the MP of being unable to understand English, the Daily News charged that Samaraweera goes to the Galle Literary Festival “to show off his double chin to the hairy volunteers there as his comprehension of the Engish (sic) language is limited to the few words he shouts out, thinking it makes up a vocabulary!”
The Daily News also takes a parting shot at former President Chandrika Kumaratunga, who it refers to as Samaraweera’s “platonic” girlfriend.
“Ask his platonic girlfriend, CBK (ugh!) who also goes there to, well, fall asleep,” the report concludes.

Rajpal the short man is plumbing the depths of depravity, I fear.
This is state-sponsored journalism at its worst.
Someone should send this to that brilliant fellow called P Nonis in the UK so he can catalogue this as another example of a vibrant democracy at its brilliant best.
/
Rathu / February 7, 2014
Absolutely! Democracy died and was buried long time ago.
/
Ranbanda / February 7, 2014
This is incredible.
His language is worse than the language CT published against Rajpal Abeynayake himself.
Who is he to think that he can use the language of abuse reserved for anti-government websites.
It is a violation of our intellectual property rights.

Sri Lanka is such a small country where everybody knows everybody, and politics becomes a personal squabble. Our public discourse will become worthy of its task only when we (including the CT and its commentators) learn to conduct it in a calm and mature manner. We all need to grow up.

Whatever happened to decent journalism in this country? I’ve been impressed with the articles on this website but then I saw some childish article titled ‘Short Man Syndrome Really Does Exist, Oxford Finds’ with that nutter Rajpal’s picture attached to the link. Still waiting for a balanced Sri Lankan news website.

Dear Rajpal ,
You may be blind and intoxicated with power that you know well is short lived. Regardless of what you have secured for yourself by bidding for a corrupt regime the least you owe the public who funds your salary and the trappings that come with it , a semblance of decency. You may have been born with a complex and that certainly can be still rectified if you seek proper counselling. I am sure your bosses will fund you even to seek counselling overseas. You need to constantly be mindful that decency is still possible while serving a regime. You and Hudson Samarasinghe s language is loathed by the public. You know too well that you are hanging on to dear life as with the collapse of this regime you will be a helpless individual despised by thousands. Think about it. Even after one losses the trappings of power if he is respected none will shun you. Your pathetic despicable behaviour bears no limits and this was amply manifested when you did not even spare the late Nelson Mandela from ridicule. As much as i hate to say this you therefore suffer from a mental state that only you can correct. Wishing you a speedy recovery at least in the best interest of the reading sane public.

All these misbehaviours of Rajpal will SURELY have a boomerang AND speedy effect on Rajapakshe´s nemesis.

Mangala maybe a poofter
but what is Rajpal?
a mercenary who sold his soul for the highest bidder?
a chap who lost his wallet in a brothel when abroad?
a man who is frustrated?
a disgrace on St Thomas’s College?
a man who is insecure?
a man who has no morals?
a cheap journalist?
please feel to add more of Rajpals qualities CT readers!

The imbecile Rajpal reminds me of a monkey who has lost his balls and brains- he displays his ignorance and moral bankruptcy by writing articles that expose his corrupt character and sordid behavior- please stop buying or reading the Daily News which is state owned and reflects the conduct of the ignoramuses, thugs, despots and their sycophant c— suckers who abuse every aspect of decent journalism. Rajpal will do a better job cleaning the toilets of the Mara. Take to this profession, you prick where you may be more successful. You may also be successful loitering the beaches at night looking for a client.

Rajpal ridiculing others on their English language proficiency; Oh the irony. The guy seems to be using the Internet to its fullest potential, to find insulting phrases to use. Thesaurus seems to be his friend but not the dictionary. Even the modern powerful word-processor software cannot seem to help the guy with his English grammar and spellings. Poor SOB.

An editor should be a gentleman, who sets an example to reporters. Someone who reports without malice or bias. Rabid editors are a danger to not only other reporters but also more importantly to society. When they change parties you may see another wimal Weearwansa, Rajitha or Keheliya twisting the tongue 360 degrees!
Subha Anagathayak!

i dont support mud slinging at any person. But for Mangala i think it is Karma in action. During CBK rule, he was the guy with the most foul mouth.
He insulted anyone who went against them. Even in parliament he insulted and made sexist remarks against SL’s olympic medalist Susanthika. I remember how he insulted Ranil. He was a main part in Ali-Koti givisuma campaign.
Mangala is receiving what he did to others.

Brit/Aussie slang for a male homosexual, based on the permanant stretching of the anus that results from repeated anal sex, which causes farts to be emitted with a “pooft” sound rather than the usual, stacatto “bra-a-a-p”.
Seems like Rajpals mouth has been streched by giving the King clan fellatio that what ever sound he emanates is worse than farts.

Rajpal and Hudson make the Sri Lanka a gutter. Please do not paint all Sri Lankans with the same brush, all are not boorish like Rajpal and Hudson. When you open the Daily News you find this in print in the morning and when you switch on the radio you have a stinking gutter shouting his voice hoarse. Because this is the main medium of state that projects the level of The Government of Sri Lanka, and the whole world think that Sri Lankans are all like that. Why can not the media ministry understand this. Have some decent people to head these institutions.

The silly poofter Pin Adi Rajpal has done
it again. In his editorial today, he calls
Mangala Samaraweera a mororn. They can
fight it out.
The question is why is the Government
allowing this free booter to use the Daily
News for his own personal ends? They dont
seem to realise that everything is going
to Mariyakade level.
