The government has launched an investigation to find out whether material supposedly meant to build the Hamanatota Port project was used to build the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa‘s Deniyaya Palace, Colombo Telegraph reliably learns.
“The material used to build this house was transported in heavy vehicles belonging to the ‘Maga Neguma’ project. It is now being investigated if the material used to build this house and its underground bunker on a 40 acre property in Nathagala Estate Deniyaya was part of the Chinese funded material intended for the construction of the Hamabantota port. The said property was purchased by one of the sisters of the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa” a source close to Prime Minister’s confidante the Ministry of Southern Development, Sagala Ratnayaka told Colombo Telegraph.
Incidentally three journalists who were tipped off and went to investigate this project then, was arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act in October of 2009.
The three of them were subsequently released.
“The investion will also look into as to how the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s sister sourced funds to purchase this huge property” the source concluded.

Not only based on these mentioned two, his should be investigated for anything. He should pay back his high bills either by selling his properties or selling his sons. There, we the peace awaiting, people will can start partying.
Sama / October 28, 2015
Samuel, i wonder what went through his head at the time, the bugger asked anyone to do anything for him ? Why cant MY3 and Ranil do the same ? My3 is also from a village, but him to behave that thrifftily, not thinking of his supper and in the same time, Mahinda to see it different nevertheless him to get more attrractionss – may be the folks are no differnt to animals.I really dont know why the epopel feel so even today.. with almost everyone suspicous being called for investigations. Even ALLEGEd kondaya for the last week have rights to file a case today against current police high men .. were those the case under Mahinda Burupakse ?

The public is entitled to know the former Presidents list of assets.
We want a list of all his properties and those of his wife and son and brothers and their children. Probably a quarter of all land in Sri Lanka is today owned by this corrupt and criminal Jarapassa family.
Sama / November 1, 2015
In Europe, it is easy to get such a list – we dont need to wait that longer, why is that this is yet to be made in the country? What the law prevailing in the country ? Why cant yet Rani and My3 govt fail MR to reveal his assets ?
Lawyers please make the general public aware, if westrn counterpart can do the job within weeks, why not lanken former state fails to do so ?
sarojini / November 3, 2015
Assets of everyone should be made public including Ranil and MS why only for MR ?
Banjiappu / November 13, 2015
the mentioned two have already disclosed all their assets.
Jarapakshe has only added few things so long goo eating pigs of your kind would respect him further.

Did he not have to declare his assets before the General Election. Maybe we should get the Right to Information Act through soon. Or is it that this Govt. is not too keen to do so too!!

Everybody dreams of the day defeated King’s activities will be properly, transparently & impartially investigated. And punished.
That day is nowhere near yet. Do not get excited.
This is just politicking by both Sagala and his personal confidante, PM of Sri Lanka, Ranil. Nothing else, but just hot air.
Former King Kong & his Clan are just fine. Apart from the fact he lost the Kingdom unexpectedly. In fact, they are being well taken care of by Ranil.
Native Vedda / October 28, 2015
Dictators love to live a life of grandiose.
MR’s b***s carriers say Saddam(ed) Hussein built 13 palaces with deep deep underground shelters while he ruled the country as the modern day emperor of Mesopotamia.
Why not the emperor of Heladipa who had 154 of his family members ruling/serving the island?
You are being very unreasonable to the emperor and his Dynasty.
Gemunu Weeraya / October 29, 2015
Hitler constructed 8 underground bunkers during WW1 but Mahinda Rajapakse constructed only 3 Bunkers for his safety.
Sinhala_Man / October 30, 2015
Dear Gemunu Weeraya,
I’ve just given you the only approval you’ve got for a comment, which, I’m sure, was sarcastic. Hitler was fighting the whole world, MaRa only a handful of (dedicated, brainwashed, ruthless) Tigers.
Please also search the slopes of the “pristine” Horton Plains, above the Ohiya Station, for another Rajapaksa “palace” in the most fantastic location – one where nobody else would have been allowed to build. Now, it probably belongs to the Uva Provincial Council; but the idea in building it was that the Rajapaksa Royal Family could retreat to “salubrious climes” whenever they wished it.
Hamlet / October 29, 2015
I don’t know about Saddam Hussein building Luxury Bunkers. When he was found hiding, the photos at the time, showed it was only a deep dark hole in the ground.
Show us some pictures of MR’s Luxury Bunker. People on this Website seem to be commenting on Hearsay Evidence.
maalumiris / November 4, 2015
Perfectly reasonable request. Speaking for myself, all I have seen is a picture of a four-poster bed, an settee, couple of armchairs and what appears to be an unfortunately selected glass chandelier
C’mon people, “Put up or shut up”
Daham / October 29, 2015
Luxury Underground Bunker built by Rajapaksa is now being used by the present president’s son Daham Sirisena and the son in law for their Karaoke parties. When this was exposed to the media by an insider the president immediately decided to go public about the new found palace which they have been enjoying since 9th January. So Rajapaksa has done a favour for Sirisena indirectly and they will be buddies for ever and nothing untoward will happen to Rajapaksas.
Rartiyminds / October 28, 2015
mAY also be needed to check they have spent state funds to cultivate piduru (hay fodder) for the entire bunch during the last few years. Had not the bugger eaten punnaku, how coudl he as a leader spend that much for his own sake. Telling the palatable and doing the other way around is their genetic nature. But stupid folks would shed tears and set pfart for these men even today… better to work for hay cultivations for all the village donkeys of the nation, for to have supported this rooudy bunch for such a long time.

My foot. Send them all to live in the huts, with no electricity, no pipe borne water and get the wild elephants to make them live in fear for 20 years.

From what he had added to the press yestreday, we can read it..
” mama kisima dekata waga kiyanna nehe- I am not repsponsible for any issues, since I personally did not do”.
That is how former head of state reacted to the questions raised in the commisson yesterday.
Always, showing that he was not responsible for anything, as if he was under someone else ?

This is not being written against the previous Heads of Govt and the present Heads.
THIS IS AN IMPARTIAL REQUEST coming from the PUBLIC TRUSTEE Department’s(PTD) employees and some relatives of deceased Testators, who under their Last Wills left their properties to THE PEOPLE OF CEYLON/SRI LANKA.
PLEASE appoint a commission of inquiry to check the way the PTD was run since 1977. I suggest the names of some well-known individuals in SL below, who are capable of pointing out FRAUDS ,ATROCITIES & misappropriations in the PTD:
GOMIN DAYASIRI P.C. and Prof. Praneeth Abeysundera as co- chairs, the Anglican Bishop of Colombo, The Cardinal of the Catholic Church of Sri Lanka, Brigadier Jaliya Nammuni, T.M.J. Karunaratne (Tilak), Devasiri Rodrigo and SANJIVA SENANAYAKE.
Please start with the Trusts of Dona Alpina Ratnayake TR, Sir D,B. Jayatilake TR and thAT of L.A.D.I. EKAnaike- a rationalist-Sri Lanka’s Meteriologist Scientist. Then , anybody will see how the real market house rent was not paid for occupying the house of Sir DBJ’S CALLED “THURBAN HOUSE” BY THE PTD of the Public Trustee, that the acreages of original properties, not checking encroachments by villagers, former Public Trustees , their relatives and employees for financial gains.
The Houses of Dr WAdeSilva and Mr AEDE Silva, THE SRAVASTI and SRIMATHIPAYA respectively were acquired by Govt for Tax purposes. But Sir D.B.Jayatilake donated the THURBAN HOUSE and his Estates to the People of Sri Lanka inter alia, where the Public Trustee now lives, 13 years before his demise according to his last will and testament attested by D.E.Martenz, of Messrs FJ& GDESARAM.
Kindly include these also in the inquiries please, as these are people who really LOVED SRI LANKA…who wanted the best for the POOR Sri Lankans.

Seelawathie Bolamanike / October 28, 2015
Why the man did not respect the state funds, at the time, these ideas came to build up palaces around the country – while knowing and seeing how deep the poor or poor felt in the day today life today ? In the same mouth piece to add popularistic statements about upliftement of the poverty ? how come all these ended up this way ? All in all, today govt have to pay all the arrears left by buruwRajapakshe for no reason. Either the current rulers confistcate all the assets collected by Rajapakshe et al, or by increasing taxes from the fallen folks again. Or by being debted to the IC again.
There are limited options for the country – I believe, the day in the near future, with billions of deposits being revealed to the nation, current govt will be able to manage everything. The way that moves forward is as a bandy legged man would do, but with patients and promoting systematic ways, they can achieve a lot is my impresison.

Tsunami Embesszlement should be re-investigated.
SN silva should get back to the filed and say, as to why the bugger made public statemetns that his verdict in terms tsunami issue was a big blunder.
Proctocolgists should check SN Silva S anatomy – if the bugger has changed his both ends at the time he was born. Else, he would nto have added this and that statement evavsivly, abusing the stupid folks again and agian.
Now the bugger to get close to MR again, for psychological balances should be investigated closely. The kind of CJs to have produced – mother lanka should be ASHAMED. basta

He was the Finance Minister then but he says he does not know about the funds that were used to build the bunker.!!The Journalists should also be ashamed of themselves that none of them had the guts to question him. EDWIN RODRIGO / October 28, 2015
Not behind bars but 6 ft underground. Actually, you can put the whole family 30 ft underground in the bunkers and then leave them to the Yamapallas to deal with as they see fit. The Yamapallas will be grateful because their journeys are shorter.
I am sure the pots of boiling Lo diya, the Katu Imbul tree, tools to pull out their lying tongues etc., to name only a few, are all ready in the Avichi Maha Narakaya (The worst of all Apayas) are ready and waiting.

It was the fault of people – to have voted for the bugger not once several dozns of times. Ourpeople forget everything within shorter period of time. The people of this country are to blame for electing him – not once but twice – despite knowing his character.

Newspapers claimed the property to be a 400 acres land. This article states it is a 40 acres property. Some clarity required here!
Anyway, in Deniyaya what is the need for a bunker?. All he needed was a 6ft x 4ft hole in the ground where he could rest forever.
At least it is a manageable size of 24 Square feet. Very easy to grow vegetables. He would have served as good fertilizer at least after 5 years of decomposing.

It is sad to see so many 2-legged sinhala mongrels, attacking a former President with so much anger. His prime mistake was to have defeated terrorism. It is indeed pathetic to note that some Sinhalayas spew so much venom, that even the defeated sun god failed to do. On the other hand the absence of criticism on a Batalanda murderer is deafening! Now these pariah sinhalayas are willing to bring our war heroes to courts whilst freeing those that killed, maimed and otherwise committed pure genocide on all communities in our Motherland. Not being satisfied with this aspect, they are now coming for the throat of the Commander-in-chief who saved our country. I think it is better for these degenerates to avoid a renewal of the UNP-sponsored 1983 riots as many will not be able to limit their patience
