Rajapaksas Roam Free Not Because Of Sacked Rajapakshe

Investigations into the more sensitive cases are being delayed not due to inefficiencies of the Attorney General’s Department nor with the interference of sacked Justice Minster Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe but due to the more efficient CID teams being inundated with too many investigations, sources within the CID told Colombo Telegraph.

“The CID is inundated with investigations after the change of the Rajapaksa regime. Most efficient units within the CID are naturally given sensitive investigations sources within the CID reveal. This has resulted in delays in concluding some of the important cases such as the murder of Lasantha Wickrematunge, Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen and missing person Prageeth Eknaligoda, the sources say.

Important breakthrough’s made thus far are being delayed due to the lack of personnel within the CID sources say.

The investigation into Journalist Keith Noyahr abduction and assault is another which is being held in abeyance, the CID sources further said.

The government is under pressure from the public who are demanding good governance, a promise made to the people which enabled the current Yahapalanaya regime to sweep the marauding Rajapaksa clan out of power. Positive results gained by the people thus far by holding the government accountable has given fresh hope say Yahapalanaya adherents.

Time to bring down #INTERPOL and set up an office for them to bring down experts to help our #CID until all the evidence is gathered and cases are built up against the Rajapaksas Criminal Network…
(Keep them here till the criminal are all put away)
Those involved in any “Game of Shape” (Cover up) should also be exposed and punished…

Anyone hiding or tampering with evidence should also be exposed and punished…

So it took them over 2 years to say this!!?

This should have been brought up as soon as they had an overload of cases so that this Government could have called for #INTERPOL assistance…

      Sir,
How hard is for the CID to find out who massacred countless prisoners in cold-blood, at point-blank range, in the middle of our busy capital city, in broad light? Is it because robotic STF killers were implementing psychopathic Gota’s blood-thirsty orders? Whom are we kidding? Exactly how banana is our Republic?
      Cheers!

The Extent of Corruption under Mahinda Rajapaksa and Cronies,

“Investigations into the more sensitive cases are being delayed not due to inefficiencies of the Attorney General’s Department nor with the interference of sacked Justice Minster Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe but due to the more efficient CID teams being inundated with too many investigations”

Anyway, removing stumbling blocks like Wijedasa Rajapaksa, aka Deal-Dasa also helps to speed up things despite the huge case load, and We the People demand that the crimibals, crooks and culprits be dealt with under the law, and justice given to the We the People and the Criminals and Culprits.

Mahinda Jarapassa and family of criminals roam free because Ranil Wickramasinghe appointed Avant Guard WIjedasa Jarapassa to protect MR and undermine the SLFP and Sirisena.

Bond scam Ranil Wickrasminghe who is morally corrupt and intellectually bankrupt and dances to the tunes of Washington deep State security interests – the right wing Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) that wrote his Regaining Sri Lanka economic policy and IMF, has destroyed Sri Lanka by pretending that Political Corruption does not exist – for 40 years, while spreading corruption in the name of “Parliamentary Privileges”.
Bondscam Ranil Wickramasinghe must get out!

Even if Wijedasa- most known Deal dasa is not blood related to former leader. But his behaviours have shown enough to prove the guy is more related to abusive cultures.

This bugger is proved to have contacted one SORCERY lady living in Polonaruwa area as was the case with former leader s contacts to royal astrolodger who is said to have nothing but pleasing predictions for the future.

And the facts these men have been entwined with AVANGADE collosal sums. May that be the very reason Wijadasa to have failed to work for the speeding up the investigative process started at teh begining already Jan 2015

Besides, Sri lnkan justicr system is very slow because, we have the British court system, I suppose. Even then, Penthouse RAVI Money laundering case was thrown away becuase, of a technicality as well as once the case was thrown out, thee Judge retired. UNP – thieves.

My problem is by whom we are ruled today? The origin of the policy decision to remove tax concessions of temples? These are very important. As a citizen, I should know from where this idea is originated. Our children should live in this country. We are poor not as almost all politicians today who are comfortable with huge undue commissions and spell every thing to us so that we should obey.

This is not completely true when there are 100’s of files submitted to AG’s office gathering dust. This is according to the public information available in the media and the AG’s dept has not denied it either.

“The CID is inundated with investigations after the change of the Rajapaksa regime.”
This is not surprising as during the last govt corruption was the norm and not the exception.

Politicians with thee help of LAwyers abuse the court system. Just Like I KNOW NOTHING RAVI, another robber – Prasanna Ranathunga – who wanted one businessman to force out Rs million is on record. Yet, the lawyer get postponed the case for various reason. It is the same thing GALLEON RAVI did. He kept postponing his money laundering in whch he accepted $ 3 million from Raj Rajarathanm was kept postponing until the 100 day govt comes. Both Ranil Wickramasinghe and Maithripala Sirisena know those things. but, they keep quite. So, in this cse, wijedasa Rajapakse was not helpful to UNP thieves, so they wanted WR removed. In that sense, MY3 is not a honest and accountable leader. That is the same thing Mahinda rajapakse did. HE ws plundring the president’s fund. He allocated more money so that, politicians could ask more. On the other hand. Mahinda rajapakse allowd every one to steal. Ranil stys in power the same way.

This state of affairs is nothing new. You may probably remember Treasury Secretary during Premadasa era, Paskerlingam, who was accused of aiding & abetting a notorious conman, Ravi Wethasingha, & siphoning money for himself, then fleeing the country to live in luxury in London. He was defended by Marapana & I hear Paskerlingam is back in town already. No doubt another Mahendran in the making with Marapona helping.

Nevertheless the riddance of far right ultra nationalist wijedsa Rajapakse’s is a good move. There is no room for outdated nationalistic views in a democratic country like ours.

The Rajapakses whether it is M or W have populist views to only get them into power but cultivate hatred for communities and religions other than for their own.

Every where corruption. Even the ones who talk big are corrupt. While Rajitha Senarathne was the Minister of Fisheries of the previous govt he rented the Mutwal Fisheries Harbour at an estimated Rs 1.7 million a month but he gave it away for a mere Rs 125,000 per month for 300 months. When the Bribery Commission was investigating the matter he got the President to transfer the commissioner.——Rajitha Senarathne has put his brother-in-law to head the Ayurvedic Corporation. His wife is giving appointments. He is a thief.. The Minister lost Parliament seat because of his business. He should worship Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe for giving him a Parliament seat through the National List. —He is the only person who lost his MP post because of his business————-If State Hospitals offer the best medical care, why then did the Minister withdraw Rs 10 million from the President’s fund to go to Singapore to procure treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital? What kind of beggar is he?”

I think Mass L.Usuf had answered for this is resource shortage in detail in his essay.

Resource shortage is not an excuse. Somebody may be willing to accept for that excuse in Jaffna style Land border cases. They are the purposeless public money wasting petty quarrels. One of the case I know was going on for 27 years when I was near to high school. The first Generation had a bitter rivalry and filed the case. When they died the 2nd generation which was in their lower 40s continued it. But the third generation had unofficial friendship in schools, temples and other places. The 2nd Generation who could not stop their kids join them. The result was the plaintiff and defendant started to go on the same vehicle to the court to cut the cost. One day they thought cutting the lawyers would be even the bigger saving. So they mutually settled the dispute out of court.

But the white vans, serial rapes, unlimited lootings, rivalry murders on drugs, sports and other competition are not jovial cases like Jaffna style land disputes. They have to be investigate and punished with in one month to one year. Resources are no excuse for these cases. Justice department and Justice ministry going to find out the needed budget money. Period.

It is quite possible that delays particularly in the case of criminal cases (Lasantha, Thajudeen, Eknaligoda, Keith etc.) are due to the ‘CID being inundated with too many investigations.’ Strengthening the CID resources might be necessary. However, in respect of corruption cases/crimes, it might also be necessary to have a special Unit on Corruption in the AG’s Department with senior lawyers. The main problem with Wijeydasa Rajapakshe was his ‘hands-off’ and lethargic attitude towards corruption matters. He should have been more proactive without interfering. We public, while being critical of the delays, also should/would understand the circumstances. All investigations and prosecutions should be impartial, professional and independent of all politics. When we observe, offenders being prosecuted even after so many decades in many countries, we can be optimistic that no major offender would escape punishment and/or exposure.

The basic definition of a Police State is when the Politicians have taken over the Police and law enforcement.
So when the politicians were the thieves, crooks and murders and they control of the police how could the CID get any files.

    Dr.Laksri Fernando,
Because of the heavy load of pending cases,, do not you think the double doctorate should not have given 2 portfolios.
How can the WR can not be held responsible for the inefficencies of the AG and CID / Police departments.
WR was under the PM. PM and the Cabinet are answerable to the President.
The governing of the country needs many stern actions by the PM & the President. It is a good that MR sacked WR on the recommendation of the cabinet &the PM.

The new minister for Justice must hold only one portfolio for at least till the end of this parliament. The junior minister for justice from JVP or another smaller party is good for taking the country forward.

WR & MR or any other politicians must restricted from using Buddhist or any other religious places to make political propoganda or attack any political parties.

WR has already did a wrong thing ( karma ) going to the Mahanaykaes for personal favours.

    • 6
      1

      Non PhD!
Yes, I do believe that there was even a ‘conflict of interest’ between the two ministries. Once before, I pointed out that in Indonesia (and in many other countries), there is only one ministry for all religions with directorates for different religions, including for Buddhism. When you have different ministers for different religions, they tend to become ‘leaders of those interest groups.’ In my last article, I pointed out that WR is also a practicing lawyer in his own admission. He should have been completely fulltime. However, I don’t think lack of time was the reason for his ‘hands-off’ attitude, to say the least. He had a mistaken view that ‘independence of the judiciary’ similarly applies to the AG’s Department! There is a delicate distinction/balance between ‘independence’ of the AG’s Department and the ‘responsibility’ of the Minister to oversee the subject matter. There can be ‘the other extreme’ that we must prevent. That is to interfere in the AG’s Department, to expedite the cases on a political basis. WR has already accused that there had been a meeting on the 15th at PM’s office to reprimand the AG, attended by many (chandi) MPs. If it is true, that also cannot be condoned.

After three years of promising in election to investigate corruptions, after two years of having formed this special units F word CID to find financial frauds, after one year of having fired Dilrukshi from Bribery Commission, UNP MPs had a meeting to find out why the cases are not going forward. The sole purpose of Meeting was convened to accuse Deal. That gave a fair opportunity to Deal go for counter accusation.

Why the cases being get delayed should have been investigated by professional commission who knows nitty gritty of the AG department & Justice Ministry. UNP MPs got together on the 15th to save UNP government from the recent backlashes. Firing Deal has not given hope that the cases are going lineup in the courts one after other from tomorrow. I don’t remember reading a commentator’s writing that Deal is gone; the cases are going to come out to courts.

Deal was fired only because he has been too attached to Kandy Ayatollahs’ and Ranil did not want he (Ranil) to be the next SWRD. In other words, recently Deal has been too inconvenient to Ranil.

Mangala has long ago said around $18 billion have been sent to foreign Banks. There was Manson- palace FCIDs found in Malwana and ordered to auction by court order. (Deal or Sagala might have snatched it, but not auctioned.) But Younger Brother Prince, the owner of Mansion, was let alone to go. Deal was not the only culprit on this escape.

It is all in the News media the main person blocking the investigations is Ranil and New King. Central bank case is more than enough to decide on that. After Old Royals forced Kegalle Jayamanne to die, New King told UNP is investigating Old Royals, the war heroes and he fired Dilrukshi.

There is another aspect one must not forget, with Lankan Officials indulging in corruption, that our
CID is exempt.? They also follow the line make hay while the sun shines. The CID would not have
pressed for more staffing, as they would not like to share the daily receipts – Namal claimed to have
provided cartons of whisky to this Dept.? The more the delay more the earnings to the CID – Sajin
Vass would not have been provided with CID recommended police protection all this time without

    Dr.Laksri Fernando,
    T.Q for your enlightening reply.
    I fully agree with you.
I hope & pray the Mahasangha and the other religious organisations and their reps refrain from hard politics and work hard to improve the social morality of all the Lankans , particularly that of the younger generation. In politics I also hope for more from the younger generation particularly women folk to come in and serve the country.

What is the guaranty that the CID – or vital parts of it are not corrupt?
In Sri Lanka, every man, including politicians, state officials and policemen, has his price.
The reality may be that the former regime has got away with most, if not all, of the billions it looted – else, what is the difficulty in tracing them.
A figure of 18 Billion dollars was mentioned earlier by an important person.
And, the former regime may still be impeding investigations via the persons it had ‘purchased’.

CID has several problems….steming from the past.

    1) Expectation for results are very high for quick results
    2) Manpower problems
    3) Training
    4) Adequate equipment
    5) A seluth becomes a good operative with years of experience.
    6) There is a code of conduct within the CID that need to be upheld. Only the home grown will know and adopt.
    7) Govt can not bring in from outside to take higher positions.
    8) CID should be led by someone who has come up from within & not by parachutists.
    9) Senior gazetted Officers need to be people from within who has risen to guide the rank & file.
    10) investigations take time & results can not be expected overnight.
    11) When it comes to technology, CID is way behind. its a real draw back.

if the old and existing norms are disrupted due to new appointments to the highrachy, thats when seluths or operatives loose their sting and fluency.
Its not a place for political henchmen.
In the days of the past how difficult was for one to get into the CID serve there. Everyone look forward to accept a prestegious call.
Today, nobody want to apply to the CID. They all want to be in uniform. I would not comment on this change of attitude in todays policemen.

THEREFORE, DO NOT EXPECT THE CID TO PERFORM MIRACLES

CID thinks we are fools. Why do they not complete an investigation and then get onto the next one.All baby talk here. The person in charge of the CID should be sacked by sirisena because it is obviuos that he too is in cahoots with the rajapakshes. If sirisena does not clean up the CID he is going to be in trouble.Didn’t pujita when he took over the police say that the murderers of thajudeen will arrested?Pooh.arrested indeed.Put on the backburner and brought up again only after Ravi K fiasco.

A strange article this. We are asked to believe so many contradictory statements.

First, we are told that the CID is now super-efficient; then that there is no inefficiency in the Attorney-General’s Dept; and last, that there is no political interference.

Where then, are the convictions. We, the people, are convinced that there was massive corruption under the Rajapaksas, but we have yet to see a conviction.

    *

This is not so in other Asian countries that are quite close to us. In Pakistan, the ruling Prime Minister, Navas Shariff was actually removed by the courts – or that is how I understood what has happened there. In Thailand, the pretty woman ex-Prime Minister is being sought to be put on trial, and a warrant has been issued. Those investigations are clearly being taken seriously.

Here this has already become a bad joke. Not only are we feeling frustrated about past wrongs not being punished, but we fear that a very high level of corruption will continue.

    *

The President alone seems to be untouched by any major charges (that touch of nepotism is there, with regard to his Telecom brother), but we’re beginning to feel that he’s ineffective. He ought to scotch these probably unfounded rumours about his running for a second term in office, and get on with leaving a one -term legacy
that he can be proud of.
