Rajitha Senaratne Trumps Sajith Premadasa, Gets Cabinet Approval For Unsolicited Contract For Brother’s Company

Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne has got Cabinet approval to have the Housing Ministry entertain an unsolicited proposal for the re-development of Torrington Flats on Thimbirigasyaya Road by a company in which his younger brother, Maheel, is a Director, the Sunday Times reports.

Rajitha

Senaratne’s proposal effectively overrides one submitted to Cabinet by the Housing Ministry to re-develop the present site of the Torrington Flats ‘as a high-yield urban residential site,’ where Minister Sajith Premadasa sought permission to designate the Condominium Management Authority (CMA) as the implementation agency,’ the report adds.

Senaratne’s request had been submitted earlier this month, apparently. The Cabinet, although noting that the prospective investor, Sky Mount Holdings (Pvt) Ltd., had submitted an unsolicited proposal, nevertheless gave the green light for the Housing Ministry to verify feasibility.

Sunday Times further reveals that the bidder has already moved on the project, claiming to have received individuals consent letters from the owners to launch the ‘mixed development project,’ approval for which has been sought by the Board of Investment (BoI).

This is not the first time that Rajitha Senaratne has favored his younger brother. While he was the Minister of Fisheries, Senaratne appointed Maheel as the Chairman, Ceylon Fisheries Corporation.

Colombo Telegraph’s attempts to contact the minister for comment have not met with success so far.

I think, they changed the parliamentary set up in 1972 in order to bring it to this unlawful situation. Both Mrs B and JRJ are responsible to it. President also can not act, because president’s hands are dirty. So, these National list appointees are there to plunder the system. AG is the symbol of the Law enforcement. Sri lanka is a paradise to the law maker thieves. MPs are threatening President for impeachment even though president is elected by people and Legislature is elected for electorates. Sri lankan voters are are rally at a lost and have hit the walls now. Rajitha Senarathane also has a dynasty even though he is not the president. Every Senarathne has a VVIP job.

How long did it take you to discover this simple obvious fact?
      Is this your eureka moment?
      Congratulations dimwit.
Note that was the year in which crooks got together and decided to add chapter II to the new constitution. The stated objective was to protect Buddhism however it was intended to protect the crooks, murderers, war criminals, ….

Mate NV I was thinking why this hullabaloo about protecting Buddhism, then you know mate what I realized, may be the Buddhists don’t want their girl children to be married off forcibly, or snip and cut little children’s body parts, which would happen if the Buddhism is replaced by Islam, don’t you think mate that may be the reason that folks are trying to protect Buddhism? Just asking only.

That is what you call outsider dealing.

Tamil Aloysius quoted for 11 billions, when CB called for 1 Billion. Colombo Media and PCoI coy interpreted it as Insider Dealing.

Here Sinhala Housing Minister’s Brother is quoting for repairs without asking. So it should be outsider dealing and no Guilty or Crime.

there is another thing is going to happen. Kiriella got QUOTES from only one one the Japanese bank for the loan for Central expressway. Loan Said to be Rs 138 billion. the bank is asking an insurance primium (from a govt) of Rs 14 billion. Definitely, a fraction of that goes to Kiriella. Why ministries are involved straight ?

Why is it wrong when Ravi Karunanayake appoints his brothers in law as Chairmen of state organization but not wrong when President Sirisena and Rajitha Senaratne does the same thing???

I hope this is not the same Rajeewa Jayaweera whose articles appear in CT.
The reason for absolving MS and Rajitha of wrong doing because RK did the same, is bizarre to say the least.

      Who said it was wrong?
Sirisena’s brother Kumarasinghe currently serving as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom.

      This is thrice blessed island.
If there is no naked nepotism then there is something seriously wrong with the country and people.

Rajitha is allowed to sponsor brother, but SAITM is a more complicated business venture which can suddenly go sour. So the parents who want stability for medical academic education lasting a lifetime want the security of a state uni. structure overlooking their fully paid medical course. The robbed money in bond scam alone could fund many state med. schools.
Minister should release those trapped in SAITM while govt. made wrong choice for private trend. Not now with bond scams, corrptions robberies. All crave money. Absorb Malabe into Moratuwa with Kalutara hospital. Trapped SAITM cant wait any longer and will align soon with GMOA to get out of the trap they are in without accountable leader. Reality is GMOA 17,000 can damage health of SL. Let them absorb SAITM and get a unified service. Private medicine temporarily abolished

This Minister Rajitha Senaratne would have got the “approval” for this contract, by “running” behind the President who “dashed to the toilet to answer a call of nature “. Another “Peeping Tom”, MR who questioned why half an hour was taken by the President in the toilet, can be asked what this Minister Rajitha was doing in there. Both the President and the Minister would have been “discussing” the “unsolicited” contracts. Better ask MR. MR would have informed this “episode” to the Japanese Co. that has given a loan to build a part of the Kandy Expressway, who on receiving the information has now slapped a very HIGH INTEREST RATE.

      Non Comrade Douglas

“MR who questioned why half an hour was taken by the President in the toilet, “

Is this country a nation of toilet watchers?

The other Percy the dated pathetic also talks frequently about toilets.

Let people take commissions and rob for their party election expenses and mostly greed for the power that money can bring. There is accountability both here and justice in the higher courts when we leave all these behind for the next cycle of robbers. No dynasties please
President now having taken over finances, must use this robbed money to release SAITM from the clutches of money and business mafia into whose traps these abandoned students fell as victims. The students will be churned by this money crazy gang hoping to sell medical education and collect money from those interested in studying in SL. We are not ready for private medical education as we are money craving robbers without honesty and integrity.
1st job agents destroyed SAITM, so they could send abroad. Now another group trying to retain private medics. hoping for commissions. Students are political fodder, not academic excellence.
Please release SAITM victims to state Moratuwa uni. who want a Medical Faculty, with Kalutara hospitals added to Malabe, so GMOA can have one uniform system of academic training. SL has resources and wealth. Need take quick vacation before next cycle of robbery starts.

“Conflict of interest” between one’s private and public – life, means, influence, properties, etc. is a constant “Sword of Damocles” which hangs over every politician, in civilised countries.
There is a “Commissioner of Ethics” in most countries who is a constant watchdog to whom every citizen can complain.

Sri Lanka has a long way to go to reach such a state of ethics in public life.

This “minister” has no shame – but, he merely goes by norms set by his colleagues in the cabinet.

Even the president dares not complain – he too has ‘rewarded’ his kith & kin.

Justice, Conflict of interests without morals and ethics leads to this situation. Previous govt. scholarships to SAITM means present govt. has to honour citizens whatever their party political robberies and principles mean. PM lost head thinking no money in country as he knew robberies, BUT we have plenty to absorb SAITM to Moratuwa uni. and allocate Kalutara teaching hospital. SLMC deans ignorant about it

Well well well…… What else would you expect from a turncoat like Rajitha?
Corruption has now become a National Industry in Sri Lanka.
What would the President do? If Yahapalanaya corruption comes out at this rate, the President may use his sword for Harakiri. (Oh, please don’t, I was kidding.)
8000 new LG members are on the way. They will follow the same route in no time. A hybrid government is not suitable to Sri Lanka as it will always be you scratch my back I scratch yours.

Dr. Rajitha, Do what you want for your family but release SAITM MBBS into 2 year internship for the SLMC recommended 4 branch training with Psychiatry cancelled. In this melee, SAITM STUDENTS are imprisoned without govt hospitals which are blocked by GMOA as access is only for state. So absorb into state Moratuwa and give them training in Kalutara Hospitals like Vavuniya campus of Jaffna unj. After being about 8 years as medics, what do you expect them to do. There is no big money in private medicine except if corrupt. Our corrupt country is not ready for more scams. Let go SAITM

Let SLIIT start anew in 2019 with fresh students and exams. Absorb SAITM enrolled now, into state.

He slid this in when others were occupied with bond-issue.

that is why sobitha was bumped off coincidently while his yahapalanaya government for which he worked tirelessly had just been elected. He would have indeed been a pain in the ass for these fellows if he had lived and yahapalanaya would have been much different from what it is now which is being not much different from the rajapakshe regime except for minus the white vans(hurunicker tried to bring it back) and freedom of the press, but all the criticism of the media goes off the buffaloes like water off a ducks back any way.

So, it appears that it is important to please the “Dental Mechanic”. Transparency, decency, rule of law Oh! they should be in the dustbin. Had Sajith been more important than Rajitha, the latter would not have dared to canvass the younger brother. Soon these fellows will break the record of corruption than the fellows of the previous regime.
