Ranil Pledges To Scrap Corrupt Port City Project

UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has stated that the Colombo Port City project that has come under heavy criticism with regard to alleged financial misappropriations in the deal, will be scrapped once common candidate Maithripala Sirisena is elected into power.

2104Ranil wickramasinghe_2JWickremesinghe had made this remark during a meeting held with Tourist industry stakeholders in Colombo. During the discussion he had stated that the main reason for deciding to scrap the project is the adverse impacts the project would have on the Negombo – Beruwala coastal belt due to the sea being reclaimed.

The Colombo Port City project came under hevy criticism after UNP MP Dr. Harsha De Silva revealed that one of project’s major investors – the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) has been blacklisted by the World Bank due to corruption charges.

He had also stated that under the new government, the Mattala airport which is presently incurring an operational loss of Rs. 2750 million during last year alone, will be made more viable and added that a new airport will be constructed in the Eastern province.

The port city project if allowed to go ahead will ruin the water front view of the existing hotels, cause major coastal erosion and be vulnerable to future global catastrophes. Mr Chinamen is known for two things being tight fisted and hopelessly corrupt. Therefore this project is nothing but short sighted stupidity in the name of unbridled greed.

Do I read right? Another Airport in the Eastern Province? Good heavens! If one accesses flightradar24.com one can have an idea of flight patterns all over the world. In my view even Katunayake airport is under-utillised leave alone Mattala. If that is so what is the potential for another airport in the East?

For how long RanilW has been in the business of politics particularly as a Minister or Prime Minister. Tell us what good projects he had promoted that were acknowledged as beneficial to people at large or the country as a whole? None.

Could such a failed man think of something good for the country when he reaches 70? No chance. Only fools think RanilW can pull rabbits out of pants.

He brought the Norwegians to trap your beloved VP and his LTTE. Expose LTTE’s weaknesses and stupidity which led to the annihilation of that terror organisation and exploration of VP’s posterior with hot iron rod. Those who watched the drilling did get immense satisfaction.

It is true what Ranil says. It’s no use unifying the country only to have it commonplaced it into a generic capitalistic outpost of China. It is hoped that Rajapakse would be more original with his project developments, and retain the unique structural heritage of Sri Lanka from the coast to the hinterland.

The Chinese have a saying CHEAP THINGS NO GOOD. Well,we now know what they really meant. An Airport in the Eastern Province? From MATTALA to the Eastern Province would be like from the frying pan into the fire!
