Ranil-Sajith-Karu Meet To discuss Leadership Council Formula Today

The rescheduled meeting between UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and his former deputies Karu Jayasuriya and Sajith Premadasa will be held today where the three will try to hammer out an agreement on the functions and powers of the proposed Leadership Council.

The meeting will be held at Sirikotha, the UNP Headquarters in Pitakotte at 4 p.m. today.

The meeting was originally scheduled for last Thursday but postponed because Premadasa was unavailable.

The Leadership Council was proposed by senior Buddhist monks affiliated with the UNP as a way out of the ongoing leadership crisis in the main opposition party.

Colombo Telegraph learns that UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will discuss the powers from the Leader that will be transferred to the proposed Council during today’s meeting.

The composition of members of the Council and the individuals to be appointed to the Council will be discussed at a later date, UNP sources said.

The Council will comprise of nine members, with Jayasuriya proposed as its Chairman. The Party’s General Secretary and National Organiser will be ex officio members of the Leadership Council, Colombo Telegraph reliably learns.

Indeed BOTH Ranil and Sajith are unfit to lead the party., Karu should hold the leadership and groom HONEST and ETHICAL leadership for the UNP.

Sriya – Where have you been all these
years? In Sri Lanka, abroad or in
    wonderland?

You say Karu should take over the
leadership. Do you not realise that
Karu is one of those who caused this
    great chaos in the UNP?

He walked out with 17 UNPers. Ranil
forgave him and installed him again as
deputy leader. If he had half an ounce
of brain, he would not have stabled Ranil
in the back a second time. He contested
    his leadership.

I am NO backer Ranil. He should go, and go
as soon as he can. But Karu? What are his
    credentials for an alternative Government
leader? He is an opportunist and you want such
a patholaya to be the UNP leader. Do you
want to cry again for a new leader in a few
    months?

Come on, Sriya. People like you who blindly call
for Karu J should think twice, thrice and more!!!

Yes, its true that Karu did a mistake. But at the moment there is no one other than him, as both Ranil & Sajith should leave the party for sake of poor voters.

First, Sajith should be sacked out as he is the cause of the downfall of the UNP. Sajith has no recognition both at national and international level. He is trying to sneak in through short-cut methods with the sinister motives.

If Sajit is so popular as he says why does he not leave the party and form a new one. After all Lalith and Gamani did that when they could not put up with Prez.Prema and showed their strength, but small preme does not have the guts to do that as he knows he will be found out.

Idiot, Lalith and Gamani had no alternative for they were sacked from UNP. Moreover, Sajith must have concluded their move is a mistakes. Besides, he must be feeling the end of Ranil and his gal company is just around the corner. And I wouldn’t blame him.
