The Prime Minister’s office has today criticized Transparency International Sri Lanka for submitting a misleading letter to the the Elections Commissioner and the media, which accused the Prime Minister’s office being used for politics.
Rejecting the claim the Prime Minister’s office wrote to Transparency International Sri Lanka today and stated that legal advice was sought prior to the signing of the MOU between the United National Party and other UNFGG member parties.
The PM Secretary’s letter stated that Temple Trees is made up of three sections within the premises that houses the Prime Minister’s Office, a large hall where the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa used for political purposes and the Prime Minister’s residence.
According the law the Prime Minister can utilize the Prime Minister’s residence at Temple Tress as he wishes.
The said MOU was signed at the Prime Minister’s residence and not the PM’s office as accused by Transparency International wrote E.M.S.B Ekanayake.
