Ranjan Ramanayaka Refuses To Accept Rs.100,000 Monthly Bonanza For MPs

Deputy Minister of Social Empowering and Welfare, Ranjan Ramanayaka has refused to accept an additional allowance granted to all Parliamentarians.

In a letter addressed to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, MP Ramanayaka said that he had decided to make a sacrifice in aligning himself with the masses, who continued to support the government while they them themselves were suffering and having to reshape their lives due to the enormous state debts the country has incurred.

He urged Speaker to take necessary steps to stop paying him the additional allowance of Rs. 100,000.

The cabinet on 29th of November had approved the proposal to increase the off allowances granted to all Parliamentarians.

Minister of Parliamentary Reforms & Mass Media, Gayantha Karunathilaka has proposed that the daily allowance of Rs. 500 given to all MPs be increased to Rs. 2500. Apart from the increase in the daily allowance, the Cabinet has also approved the proposal for an additional allowance of Rs. 100,000 to be granted to MPs every month, to allow them to carry out their work in their respective electorates.ranjan

      Ranjan R

You’re proving to be too good from the beginning of Yahapalanya story.
Keep up the good thoughts in the name of our Mother Lanka and its poor kids.
We need thinking of your nature ! Then only we can expect a future for our country.
Most of the Parliamentarians were born ” with silver spoon Bought by their Parent politician by having been ” A CROOK WHO SWINDLED THE POOR””
Now the 2nd generation too enjoying all the FRILLS MADE CORRUPTLY by their Parent , so the Swindlers of the
2nd generation too had been elected by the MODA MASSES.
      So what can we expect.
Raman Ramanayake is a good example and may be a shining star for our country’ s future. See if you can persuade the other 222 in the Parliament to think your way of thinking for the future of our country???

      Well done RR!!

The nation is filled majority of idiots.
I dont think people even notice Ranjan s sacrifices.
This gentleman does lot more towards the poor of the poor in this country.
In Ryzannas case, what he failed to do was – very little. However, had the Gentlemann been in ruling party, no doubt, he would have saved the life of that poor muslim girl.
I have seen Videos in wihch Ranjan offers own funds to the poor.
He is being supported by many, most love his genuine heart.
The kind of Srilankens are of rarity.

Not allowances, but they the parliamentarians should work hard.If the country to be taken forward.
Why cant they sacrifice their part in a crucial juncture of lanken economic falls.
Ballige puthas that looted the nation have done the job well – even shamelessly come forward to make statements by today.
Mahinda Rajaakshe did lot more harm to the nation than the good his term achieved. That is the mere truth.
How could Aluthgamages loot that huge sums

How could Wimal B have built the kind of palaces that was shown to the media lately, if the bugger was only blessed by his salary ?

These men should come forward and declare their assets LET alone today.
Then people can assess their honesty.

Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake: Example is the best than “Preaching” and “Protesting”. You have done it well and thanks a million. By the way, WHERE are the “Rathu Sahodarayas”? You have given the LEAD and hope at least those “SIX” among the other 224 would decide SOON and write to the Speaker.

Bravo Ranjan! Thank you and keep up your great work!

This dude should be the next leader of the UNP which has hit the lower depths under bond scammer Ranil who thinks that Parliamentary Privileges is the right for Corrupt Politicians to commit financial crimes and war crimes with impunity and immunity.. and loot the people of Lanka

RW should be ashamed of himself and his band of friends who he surrounds himself with. If this shameless imbecile has any interest of country all, he should appoint Ranjan to the “super power cabinet ministry” being planned as its minister.

That proposed ministry in my view is passport to amaze wealth well beyond what the previous family did!!!!

It is interesting that none of the marxist party members have opted to follow Ranjan or their guru – Lenin by refusing this “bribe” being offered by the leadership of the unity government!!!!

Why not UNP leader takes him serious ?

Give us examples man, just because you are born with a healthy mouth, dont abuse it to harm a gentleman. You may use it to reveal all the harm done by Rajapakshes. That can then speed up the awarness of the grasseaters in this country.

    What is going on here..

Alsatian Rajitha,s Doberman pup, who barked all the way to Yahaplana parliament on UNP Batalanda Ranil,s leash, didn’t want to get up let alone vote for Galleon,s Budget.

Until good Yahaplana Prez put in a personal plea to him .

Now the UNP wig,has totally aligned himself with the people who he claims are Yahplana suckers , but suffering under the same Yahaplnaya.

    What a turn of events?..

Are these two trying to form a UNP JO to take on the Lotus Flower ?

Makes sense..UNP Silver Spoon Brigade are doomed after collecting fFree Car Permits with LKR 34 Mil each and now collecting LKR 100 thou extra for helping Batananda Ranil to make. Srilanka A part of A Federal Eelaam.

Where can the 109 of them as well as the 40 odd Sira suckers who are on labour hire can be accommodated ..

I mean down South is out of bounds eve now ?

Unless they get a ride with. Keselwatta Kid to Hambantota , where Premadas,s private. Mahaploa. Recipients live.

Can’t trust anyone these days but if he proved to be genuine then we must commend him and support him. Until he removes his silly national ambude I will not believe him 100%.He was an actor and always will be an actor. He has to go a long way to prove that he is honest as he says.
I am a battle harden honest business man and I don’t accept things on face value because there’s so much deceit and dishonesty in the country and very hard to believe any one any more.
If he is truly truthful our hats off and we will do our best to support a person like him but he must dress to suit this day and age and that’s a start..

The ONLY politician that has put his money where his mouth is – unlike the lying and hypocritical lot in Parliament led by Maithripala Gamarala and Ranil Pacharala who want their perks and salaries increased and interfere with the law to protect their chosen ones.

As for those JVPers who have proved to be another lot of borukarayas, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. And they must taste like shit!

Ranjan should be the leader of the UNP and people should consider him for President. SL would be land of milk and honey with his honest principles. There won’t be the crooks, looters, fraudsters – no Arjun Mahendran et al. Corruption would be a thing of the past in our land under his honest leadership.

Ranil Wick should be ashamed of himself and so should the rest of the thieves who went to parliament in the name of good governance. One can understand why RW does not elevate him to a Cabinet Minister – which he deserves and is amply qualified to be. Ranjan would be thorn on the back of the pack of wolves who make up the cabinet.

The latest Swindler – National List Swaminathan – on the payroll of Mital to bull dose a plan to build steel homes in one of the hot and dry zones of our land?

Setting a good example. Moral values are more important to be legislator. If cannot practice one is a rouge. will see how many ‘men’ are there in the parliament who will bow down to the moral values. Of course Ranil will not bow down. He has to beat his wife’s salary.

    Ranjan,

You are doing a good thing. But I doubt you because You are still single. If u marry a woman and thereafter this announcement comes, then we can trust you as a simple man. Even your Budha married and had children..

WHY CANT YOU MARRY A WOMAN Or GIRL as your choice and then show us your courage in making life simple and moderate as a family man. ? If you invite me for your weeding I will come . LOL..LOL..

Also, I personally like you to have a good people serving man as a MP. But I do HATE your immoral , unethical and Filthy characteristic in some movies you acted and acting. You must get rid of all those filthy behavior Ranjan.

You better delete all the filthy scenes and songs in youtube and internet site.. BE A MODEL FOR A MORAL Budhsit man even if you are in immoral cinema environment nowadays.
Then we have more and more Respect for you.. Hope you will read this comment.

‘He urged Speaker to take necessary steps to stop paying him the additional allowance of Rs. 100,000.’

Pathetic. The Speaker will probably pocket it. Why couldn’t Ranjan take the money and give it away himself? Can anyone trust these people? What have all of them been doing all these years?

I have read in some other news media that the pigs that have their snouts in the Jayawardanapura trough have been pressurizing mr Ranjan Ramanayaka to withdraw his wholesome and generous offer. I do hope that Ranjan will stick to his principles and commitment, and stick up his two fingers for all the pigs to see clearly. That is is the difference between a man and a pig!

  • 1

While saluting Mr Ramanayaka for his timely and meritorious act, I dare say that this will only bring him a bit of temporary adulation while not fixing the bigger issue one jot.

It is true that government servants are poorly paid in comparison to those in equivalent private sector positions, as well as they do not pay PAYEE tax. Over time, this has led to a major misalignment in thinking that one can get ‘good’ service in the private sector while ‘understanding’ that those in the governments sector need to take bribes and other ‘goodies’ in order for them to do their jobs. Teachers are the sorriest of this cohort…. and we all know that the rot in society starts here, as there is a concomitant rot in ethics and morals in each new generation and we all know (and see) where all this ends.

Successive political leader have exploited this for their own selfish ends and the country is in a holy mess today.

What to do about it? This should be the real focus of change of policy and development, not just thematic slogans such as yahapaalanaya.
    Cheers

    May his tribe increase.
