Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake didn’t attend today’s Cabinet meeting held at Presidential Secretariat this morning, fearing embarrassment to face his colleagues, a senior Cabinet Minister told Colombo Telegraph.
“The rumour is correct: Ranil Wickremesinghe plans to hide him and continue to pretend that there’s no bond scam,” he told Colombo Telegraph.
Meanwhile local media and many social websites carried reports that the government is planning on replacing Minister Karunanayake who is said to resign from his post with the either Minister Navin Dissanayake, Tilak Marapana or Sarath Amunugama.
Last night a website that carries two advertisements of the Lotteries Board which comes under Minister Karunanayake continued to use a self claimed journalist / social activist to continue the mud slinging and character assassination campaign against Anika Wijesuriya, the witness who testified before the Commission investigating the Bond Scam.
Earlier last evening a cross section of the general public carried out their planned vigil against the corrupt practices of the current politicians at Independent Square.(Jacqueline Senanayake)

I think lanken politicians in general dont take their jobs serious.
They just pay lip services. Regardless of the size, corruptions and abuses should be away or minimised from their behaviours.
They spoke high but become swollen when they are in their terms.
Ravi K could be very careful with all these.
Alocious or anyone close their family – should have been warned by RK earlier.
We also had the cases, where FORMER CJ husband to have been involved in corruption and him to have left his position.
All these were known to Ravi K and senior other men while they had been in the opposition.

The purpose of the presidential commission was to target and expedite the investigation of the bond-scam.
Now, there is a request by some people, to make use of the same presidential commission to investigate all the scams. And force the AG to investigate all the scams with the same vigour that was shown in unravelling the CB bond scam. That will nail the AG if he shows the lackadaisical attitude he has shown so far to go after Rajapakse’s crooks.
It’s an excellent idea. I hope all you guys will give it your full support.

Now, this will show who really wants to catch the crooks and who just wants to play partisan politics.

One of the option considered in analysing different scenarios is ‘do nothing’ option. The logic is simple, just doing nothing turn out to be the best in many cases. For example, when you have road congestion, sometimes doing nothing about it all that it takes as the congestion itself will take care of the problem.
This government has perfected this– if you take no action, time itself is solve the problem. It is much easier to talk about irrelevant issues and just create general hysteria among the populace to divert the attention and survive for one more day. When you have enough days like this, the problem will be solved without any need for action.
Time to take action is long overdue. He is still there, because the government knows there won’t any effective rebelling within its ranks. Except for similar roughs making cursory innuendos, the only action so far has been the pathetic confidence motion, collecting measly 35 signatures out of 225. As his loving daughter insinuated, he is only one spoiled egg, and the others don’t what this egg out because then their will stink stronger. Just keep all together, so people will be confused from there the stink is coming from.
And what about the public? Again there is really no threat of revolt from that quarter as well. They know Sri Lankans are too indolent to demand any real action. There won’t be any mass demonstrations on the streets, except for a few perfunctory defiance by a few elite who have a bit of time in their hands and lot of money in the bank, the rest of the populace is too busy running around just to keep their noses above the proverbial water or just slaving themselves to keep up with their more affluent neighbors.
