Ravi K Throws Shade At Sajith And CBK

Indicating signs of UNP’s own power struggle before upcoming Presidential polls, Minister Ravi Karunanayake has thrown shade at Minister Sajith Premadasa saying UNP will not be fielding someone who is able to talk only about grassroots issues.

Ravi Karunanayake

Karunanayake had thrown hints at Sajith’s Presidential dreams yesterday, speaking at an event where he said the UNP will not field a candidate who talks only about ‘paalam saha bokku’.

“It has to be someone with an understanding about global issues and can maneuver oneself in the international arena,” he has told the crowd at the event in Weerakatiya.

He has assured there are several UNPers who fit that bill and that the right candidate will be announced upon discussion with party.

“Those who are presently trying to push their way in will never be given the chance,” he has told further.

Ravi K had also spoken his mind about former President Chandrika Kumaratunga saying the UNP does not maintain any links with the ex-President.

“She created issues within our party, she also manufactured issues in the SLFP…She has no importance in our party,” he said while dismissing any possibility of her backing the UNP at the upcoming polls adding, “There is no way CBK can manage to help the UNP given she can’t even win her own seat.”

This is not the first time Ravi K has taken a condescending tone about Sajith. In a recent speech Ravi K criticized Sajith’s wife of aspiring to be the first lady, when they haven’t even been able to produce a child.

Jalani Premadasa came under heavy criticism a few days ago, when she addressed herself as the ‘future first lady’ at an event where she represented Sajith.

After all accusations and criticism, Ranil is keeping Penthouse Ravi on his lap to rob some more before the whole lot is chased out from the parliament.

      Parliament?

There is a breach of trust as far as you are concerned, due to your underhand deals Ravi, so don’t get involved in the subject of who will be the Presidential candidate

Country deserves an honest, untainted, able and well-educated person with an international outlook and critically, who truly loves Sri Lanka as the President.

While Ranil meets some criteria, he is neither honest nor untainted. The next generation (kith and kin) including Sajith and Namal are not suitable material.

Sri Lanka is unfortunate that a person of Kadiragaman’s calibre has not emerged, who met all the above-noted criteria.

“Country deserves an honest, untainted, able and well-educated person with an international outlook and critically, who truly loves Sri Lanka as the President.”

The country deserves an honest, untainted, able, visionary, well informed …………..
Education has nothing to do with honesty nor vision. For example we have hundreds of thousands of PhD holders with dreadful record.

Its not just the leaders who are honest, untainted, able, visionary, well informed, but the entire population needs to be honest, untainted, able, visionary, well informed,…

“who truly loves Sri Lanka as the President.”.

      This is an American crap.
Doctor’s, Lawyers, Engineers, teachers, undertakers, prostitutes, ………… don’t love their patients, clients per se, however they provide their services to all without any fear or favour to the best of their ability.

“Sri Lanka is unfortunate that a person of Kadiragaman’s calibre has not emerged, who met all the above-noted criteria.”

      Why?

        Hello Native Vedda,

Thanks for taking the trouble to respond to my comments.

        FIRST ELEMENT
Is not just the leaders who are honest, untainted, able, visionary, well informed, but the entire population needs to be honest, untainted, able, visionary, well informed,…

It is not reasonable to expect the entire population to be honest, untainted, able, visionary, well informed,…

        SECOND ELEMENT
Education has nothing to do with honesty nor vision. For example we have hundreds of thousands of PhD holders with dreadful record.
Agreed and there is no contradiction with my views

        THIRD ELEMENT
“who truly loves Sri Lanka as the President.”.
        This is an American crap.
Doctor’s, Lawyers, Engineers, teachers, undertakers, prostitutes, ………… don’t love their patients, clients per se, however they provide their services to all without any fear or favour to the best of their ability.

I agree with you, it is naive to look for people who love the country.
There is evidence that some professionals love what they do!
There were teachers in Sri Lanka who loved to teach and spent their spare time on students. I know one GP in the country I live who does not charge people of poor socioeconomic background.
As such, there are people who love to serve. I have no answer as to how to find a person like!

        FOURTH ELEMENT
“Sri Lanka is unfortunate that a person of Kadiragaman’s calibre has not emerged, who met all the above-noted criteria.”

This comment is based on first hand experience.
If SLFP had the courage to allow Kadiragamar to reach leadership, Sri Lanka would have been very different. He did not have a trace of tribalism and Sri Lanka would have established it is not necessary for the President to be Sinhala Buddhist. Sadly, the politics of racism has tainted the country by then. Both Sinhalese and Tamils are equally responsible.

I can’t get into a debate on racism in Sri Lanka, simply because it is too complex

The stifling of the rise of Kadirgamar (never mind by who) was perhaps the turning point heading for doom.

None could have matched him on so many fronts.

I agree with Ravi K’s statements about Sajith Premadasa. He definitely doesn’t show leadership qualities. But cannot agree with what he says about CBK. She contested her electrorate only once in 1994 and won with a large majority. She also won the presidency twice.

Also I must say this. If a presidential candidate gets Ravi K’s support for their campaign they will definitely lose the election. So, candidates if you want to win the race, dump this crook.

So satisfying to watch UNP clowns eat one another. Sooner that globalist treacherous party die the better we are off.

Ravi K is a seasoned fence-hopper. His carpet-bag is strong.
He ended as a force to be reckoned within UNP and was UNP Assistant Leader. Following the ‘I-do-not-remember’ saga, Ravi K resigned his Cabinet portfolios. Or was he sacked? A UNP Internal Commission headed by Tilak Marapona recommended that Ravi K be removed from the post of UNP Assistant Leader.
Following the infamous 26 October 2018 coup d’état, Ravi K is back in the cabinet.
    .
Ravi’s condescending views on Sajith is Ravi-speak “Know Ye All. I Am Here”.

Ravi Karunanayake should be the UNP’s presidential candidate. If he wins can take the entire Central Bank to himself.
