Anika Wijesuriya who revealed the penthouse bribing of Ravi Karunanayake, was threatened by Shanil Nethicumara the nephew of the former Minister.
Shanil a known Colombo party boy and relative of Nalin Fonseka had threatened Anika with death, the Attorney General’s department informed the Bond Commission today.

His Facebook profile lists him as a former private secretary to Ministers.
The Attorney General’s Department said that following the death threats Anika had now fled the country.
They also informed the commission regarding the relationship between Karunanayake and Nethicumara.

I thought the penthouse saga was all done & dusted now. The only outcome being RK, obviously pressured into resigning his Finance Ministerial position, which, according to him, did so honorably, & was assigned to the back benches, only to be relegated back to the major league after a couple of weeks. Life was back to normal, so why would a another spoilt brat of the International School alumni threaten the apparent whistle blower now?
Whatever the reason, is the police investigating & taking action against a death threat? If I am not mistaken, this will not be taken seriously (could very well be a publicity seeking stunt by Akila), after all the authorities (fraud squad, Inland Revenue, etc) didn’t seem to think it was necessary to investigate any tax evasion & money laundering operations by RK & family.

I just cannot understand how the commission will protect a witness as the same commission failed to take Arjun Alosyus to the witness stand.
