Former Crimes OIC of the Narahenpita police, Sumith Champika Perera has shared vital information over the cover up of former ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen’s murder, including the details of several others who had played a part in concealing the murder.
Perera, who was arrested and subsequently remanded on Thursday for concealing the murder, had informed the CID the names of the ‘higher authorities’ from where he received the order to cover up Thajudeen’s murder.
Highly placed sources said that, the newly appointed IGP Pujith Jayasundara had been informed about the development, and upon his instructions Perera was arrested, just hours after Jayasundara took over office.
Over the next few weeks, more arrests are likely, including those named by the former Crimes OIC, who have been directly involved in concealing the murder of Thajudeen. In February, Colombo Additional Magistrate, Nishantha Pieris ruled that Thajudeen was murdered, and ordered the CID to arrest the suspects in connection to the murder.
Six suspects, including ‘Captain Tissa‘, the personal chauffer of former President Rajapaksa, who also served as a bodyguard to former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, and their sons, Namal and Yoshitha have been identified as a possible suspect by CID.
Thajudeen, a Sri Lankan ruggerite and former Havelock SC captain, was killed in Colombo in May 2012, and the police initially ruled it as a death by accident.
In his maiden press conference on Friday, IGP Jayasundara said that the investigation cannot be rushed, as there were procedures to follow. He however assured that everyone involved in the murder, despite their political standing, will be taken into custody. ( By Munza Mushtaq © Colombo Telegraph )

Thajudeen’s injuries are consistent with a vehicular impact injury. Moreover, there are no defensive injuries on his arms which are indicative of a beating. There are no injuries indicative of a beating on his back or legs either according to the description and the picture in the article.

Thajudeen’s neck piercing is probably due to broken glass or torn metal, and broken glass appear to have been part of the thigh injuries. A good Sri Lankan lawyer should be able to argue these points if false accusations continue to take down leaders from the previous regime accusing them of the murder of Thajudeen.

As observed from the photographs displayed in the newspapers soon after the so called accident, The car never hit the wall, which in reality should have, if it was an accident for the wall to collapse. The wall had not collapsed but there are two openings on the wall obviously broken down earlier as both openings are covered with old zink sheets held by some planks. Second the car did not burn at that point as the branch of the tree just above the car looks fresh. Had the car burnt after impact, the branch over hanging the car would have burnt too. Therefore this car never met with an accident at that point. Obviously the car with the body was burnt elsewhere and dumped at this point. While dumping the car the engine had come off and could be seen on the right side of the car. If the engine came off the vehicle for the impact, it should have been ahead of the vehicle in the direction it moved.

Silappatikaram The Tale of an Anklet is one of The Five Great Epics of Tamil Literature according Tamil literary tradition. A Jain poet-prince from Kochi (in modern Kerala) referred to by the name Ilango Adigal is credited with this work.
The nature of the book is non-religious, narrative and has a moralistic undertone. The epic revolves around Kannagi, who having lost her husband to a miscarriage of justice at the court of the Pandyan Nedunchezhiyan wreaks her revenge on his kingdom.
The story of Silappatikaram is set during the first few centuries of CE and narrates the events in the three Tamil kingdoms: Chera, Chola, and Pandya. It also mentions the Ilankai king Gajabahu and the Cheran Senguttuvan.
In the pathigam, the prologue to the book, Ilango Adigal gives the reader the gist of the book with the précis of the story.
“ We shall compose a poem, with songs,
To explain these truths: even kings, if they break
The law, have their necks wrung by dharma;
Great men everywhere commend
Pattini of renowned fame; and karma ever
Manifests itself, and is fulfilled. We shall call the poem
The Cilappatikāram, the epic of the anklet,
Since the anklet brings these truths to light.
Thus the objectives of Silapathikaram were threefold:
1) to emphasize that those in power will be punished if they deviate from righteous principles,
2) to hail the nobility of chastity in women and
3) the inevitability of the effects of wrong doings in the previous birth (ஊழ்வினை) will come back to haunt you in this birth.
The only difference is Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family are reaping the effects of their wrong doings not in their previous birth, but right here in THIS birth.
