Sajith Premiadas has congratulated Gotabaya Rajapaksa on becoming the seventh President of Sri Lanka.
Issuing a statement a short while ago Sajith Premadasa said: “At the conclusion of a hard fought and spirited election campaign, It is my privilege to honour the decision of the people and congratulate Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa on his election as the seventh President of Sri Lanka.”
“In light of today’s decision by the electorate, I have decided to step down as Deputy Leader of the United National Party with immediate effect,” he further said.
We publish below the statement in full:
At the conclusion of a hard fought and spirited election campaign, It is my privilege to honour the decision of the people and congratulate Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa on his election as the seventh President of Sri Lanka.
I express my heartfelt gratitude to all of our citizens who voted for me, in all corners of the island. I am humbled that you placed your faith in me. Your support has been a fountain of strength throughout my twenty-six-year-long political career. I also wish to place on record my gratitude to all those who worked tirelessly on my campaign. My family and I will never forget your sacrifice and dedication.
We have just witnessed the most peaceful presidential election in the history of our independent republic. This was a result of the democratic gains and institutional reforms that have taken place over the last five years, that empowered an independent elections commission and restored the rule of law. My appeal to the incoming President is that he take this process forward and strengthen and protect the democratic institutions and values that enabled his peaceful election as the 7th President of Sri Lanka. I also urge Mr. Rajapaksa to ensure that the post-election environment is peaceful, and that no citizen or NDF party supporter is persecuted or harmed for their role in supporting my candidacy.
For 26 years, I have been an active politician in this country. During that time, I have made every effort to serve the people, in my home district of Hambantota and wherever and whenever they needed my assistance. It has been my privilege to serve as Housing Minister in this Government for five years, prioritizing the creation of a home-owning society by 2025. I hope the people understand that these were sincere, heartfelt efforts to uplift the lives of my fellow citizens.
In light of today’s decision by the electorate, I have decided to step down as Deputy Leader of the United National Party with immediate effect.
In the coming weeks, in consultation with all those who supported my presidential bid, the people who have stood by me through my political journey and my loved ones, I will reflect on the future of my political career and where my life will take me hereafter. Bound to the people of Sri Lanka, I remain their faithful servant, today and always.

Reminds me as to what happened during the 1970 election when SLFP/LSSP/CP coalition came to power on a landslide defeating the UNP and the 1977 election, when JR/UNP came to power on a landslide. Why the shift from one side to the other?
Because in both cases, the majority perceived that when they were in power they failed.
This was repeated this time, as the SLPP/SLFP claimed that the UNP Govt had failed and continued the corruption. Furthermore, the antics of Sirisena, added fuel to the discontent.
The Sinhala Buddhist racism and nationalism was exploited by the SLPP, claiming that they are the saviors. Of course LTTE was always the boogeyman.
An added boogeyman, was the Muslims, demonstrated by the Wahhabi-Salafi terrorists, with low IQs, and following the Satan, per prescient Hadith of Najd.
All these factors, was to the advantage of Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The family rule and corruption was secondary, because there is already corruption. This was further aggravated by Ranil W tactics. Ranil W claiming that the will be the PM , probably cost 1 million votes to Sajith.
Overall approximately 70 percent of Sinhala Buddhists voted for Gotabaya and 10 percent of minorities voted for Gotabaya.
So, 70×0.7 + 30×0.1 =49 +3 = 52.0 percent.

Rule 1: Better half of the Jaffna Tamils are still harboring hate and violence towards the Sinhalese in general n’ Rajapakshes to be specific. Get your facts right.

Took the case to the courts of California, USA and got dismissed without a hearing. Who took to SM to bad mouth GOTA just before the elections. Was she even touched ? What world are you living in. You’re describing stuff that could happen during the stone age. No one goes around raping people just case they disagree wit u, anymore !!!
Rule 5: I’ll go back to Lasantha. He wasn’t murdered. At least not to the courts he wasn’t. So if I’ll have to choose between your tales and the courts decision in deciding if Lasantha was killed, I’ll go with the courts. Again countless journalists were accusing of them 10 years ago and the same set are accusing them now, in good health.

It is commendable SP has issued this statement and resigned from his Party Post (RW should do the same!).
In 2005, It is alleged MR bribed the LTTE to prevent voters in the North from exercising their franchise (this was critical in that election, as had that not occurred, RW would have won the election). RW made that allegation in Parliament under parliamentary privileges. If that was true, that is tantamount to sedition. But RW did not challenge that is a court of law. He had a duty and responsibility to do just that but he failed to uphold the sovereignty of the People in 2005 (he was quite happy to be the Leader of the Opposition!)
In 2019, there is much debate that NGR is in violation of the Constitution of the Republic of SL (due to his citizenship status). Similar to what was done during the 52 day saga when MS / MR violated the Constitution, this notion should be tested in a court of law, where all the facts should be presented to the Judges by both sides so a final determination could be made and this matter could be put to bed, once and for all.
It is better to institute a case in a court of law (if there is a deemed violation of any laws and / or deemed punishable offense) rather than making statements (as RW did) in Parliament under parliamentary privileges.

Winning and Loosing Elections are expected. People of Srilanka wanted to go back to the previous regime. The election results highlights the country is divided by regions and religions.
Sajith, even it is a loss in this election you showed great charisma to have some impact on politics. Ranil you have to give up and allow Sajith to strengthen and reform the party. The country need a strong parliament to protect the democratic nature of politics and to challenge any threats to unity of the people.

The stage is being set for a communal war against muslims. Alot of people simply dont see the big picture. All the sinhala ruling class politicians are working together. Their rivalry is staged to fool the public and it does not take a rocket science brain to see that.
Since 2010 the attacks on the muslim community began under the Rajapaksa regime. From 2015 the UNP alliance came to power and the attacks on muslims continued. Then we saw the islamic terror attacks which will give the excuse for further violence on muslims with the rajapaksas back in power. It will most likely escalate into a war and genocide by the looks of things. Notice how the BBS and racist buddhist monks are given free reign by all sinhalese governments? That in itself should tell you what the reality is and what is coming.
India is now ruled by the muslim hatin BJP party, so they will be too happy to help Sri Lanka go after muslims on the island.
Muslims if left alone will take over Sri Lanka in a few generations and turn it into another indonesia or malaysia. Muslims are rapidly colonizing many ‘infidel’ nations across the world with arab funding. In a country like SL with a racist, envious and paranoid sinhala majority, that creates a perfect setting for a major conflict. As far back as the time of Soma thero in the 1990s, sinhala resentment against muslims was growing. Many of them want to see muslims ‘cut back down to size’. Muslims to this day still think sucking up to sinhalese will protect them. It wont. Those times of benefitting from thoppi perati behaviour has long gone.
