Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka joined forces with the United National Front (UNF) this evening by signing a collective agreement with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, at Temple Trees.

Sarath Fonseka signed MOU with UNPThe agreement comes amidst speculation that Fonseka will fill the seat left vacant following the demise of Minister of Lands M.K.A.D.S. Gunawardana, who was a national list MP.

Fonseka is also tipped to get a powerful ministerial portfolio under the current coalition government.

Fonseka’s Democratic Party is also expected to contest the upcoming local government election under the UNF banner.

Strength of Sarath Fonseka’s force was in stark display at the last parliament election.

If i may say so, he was attacked by rulers not even allowing him to hold election rallies. Remember ?

SF can help gear up to police and army of the country – no doubt about that.

Fonseka was never attacked by the rulers during parlimentary elections…the rulers during the parlimentary elections were Maithree and Ranil.

Yes you are correct, and you may also re-collect SF and RW were one time running mates for the country’s Presidency. They both had a good understanding of each others temperament and leadership abilities when they embarked on that journey. But as we all know now what happened to SF soon after loosing the elections, he was jailed by MR and RW was left stranded, without his running mate. In the current situation, now that RW has succeeded in attaining the hot seat as country’s PM once again, and this time with a new running mate in MS, he will afford SF that accommodation that they both collectively failed to achieve, specially against their common enemy MR, GR and BR and their goons, cronies and relatives, who ran this country like ‘Chandiyas’ (gangsters) in their ‘Gam’e Kad’e’ (village boutique). Now it will be pay-back time.

True. However, I believe Fonseka is a far better commander than he is a politician. Some of his speeches make no sense. He’s too straight to be a politician. He might be a good politician if this was Sri Lanka in about 10 years from now but in the current political climate, I don’t think he can succeed by himself. We need to first get rid of the Rajapakse’s before we can enter an era of clean politics.

He is a no nonsense straight talker. 4,5 million people loved him at the lost Presidential election and had Rajapaksa not rigged the votes SF might have even won the Presidency. Rajapaksa had all sorts of nefarious characters and goons working for him at village level threatening and intimidating voters, and where possible they also tampered with ballot boxes. It was patently obvious to anyone that it was not a fair election. I sincerely hope SF would lead in cleaning up dirty Sri Lankan political environment, and get rid of corruption in public service and politcis. Jayawewa!

Bo, you write of a history our people already have forgotten.

That is the tragedy of this country. People forget; even important things!

Yes, but srilanka lacks leaders today after 30 year war.

Dont you think so ? These are facts. Why him to be kept away – if he could bring new systems to security in the country ?

Even Sarath N Silva (nation s fox) could become a active person, if his brain was replaced with that of a fox – else, all other senior professionals can make their active contributions, being part of the ruling politics.

There are coutnries, millitary leaders have done the job to the top, turning and introducing them disipline. I think as it is the case in Germany or other civlized world, disipline and respect for the law and order should be kept above everything. Rigarous law enforcement equally to all can shape the system within a year or so .

To that day, I saw videos his stages were burned down somewhere in southern area.

May be for GE – if he contested in Kurunagala he would have be gained more lacks of votes.

      Sir,

Dealdasa Rajapassa was a noteworthy absentee at Temple Trees today. Oh dear!

Meanwhile, rumor is that Avant Garde Lokka is already making plans to admit himself to Colombo’s Merchant ward.

        Ben Hurling

Is he going to be appointed as the Minister of Defense?

If that happens I am worried KA Sumanesekere’s job prospect. He is going to be unemployed as Gota loses his b***s.

Fair point Patriot, if you mean SF is electorally weak.

But there is another side. There may be residual loyalty of rump sections of the military to Gota. If there are disorders provoked by BBS or others during the run up to the new constitution, or when this so-called Hybrid thing gets started, someone who can neutralize potential dangers or conspiracies is useful in the government.

(Whether you are on MR’s side or Ranil’s side does not matter. I think you will agree that the military should be under the control of the elected civilian government).

Patriot, look at the positives he will bring into government.

Everyone has negatives, and you are no exception.

The performance at the last elections was absolutely no indication of his popularity. Everyone who voted with a sense of propriety did so to throw out Rajapakse, not to install anyone else. In that scenario voting for a minority party was to waste a vote.

This is a good move no doubt.

Else, his capabilities were not useful to current rule.

Likewise, good eduated senior professionals should be invited to work with current rulers.

Then only we can see it beyond. Just letting them to stagnate cant help the development projects being planned in the country.

Seniors should be held as seniors. Dayan Buruthilaka too could do a great service, if he could agree with current rulers either with Prez Sirisena or with PM.

Just adding his cesspit thoughts to lanken TV channels- can only ruin the situation. Long held malice of DJ sort cant help further.

Senior men have to join hand with the current adminstration. Then only we can see that everything would move forward. Just stay criticising can help culprits only.

Excellent that a person noted for decisiveness enters the sanctum of state power. He must be vested with due authority to rid the infamy that the corrupt had brought about. He must have the self imposed target of cleansing the Augean Stables within 3 years.

The present government is deficient in resoluteness. Added to that is a display of diffidence. Action without retraction is an inborn attribute. SF has it as the country knows. He attained all Island stature at the Presidential Election 2010.

Let his capability be canalised for a single task. To make those who made the bed to lie on it.

Most importantly to show the world the murky side of yester year leaders. Make them loose their false sense of confidence to take on the present government.

In the very same manner, after investigations are over – Dr. SB former CJ should also be given a chance to work in some areas.

All the senior male and female personalities are the assset for the country s development. Else, we the poor nation have to bring foreign counterparts from outside world. If the rulers would see it right, we have valuable sources in the country itself.

University professors can also make their contributions to on going development of the country.

My next wish is – MOST MALICIOUS MAN IN SPOT LIGHT TODAY – Mr. Dayan Jayathilaka..

we need to go puja him to sense the realities soon and become normal and be joined rulers for the development of the country.

Else, he would just join to the spent sources of this nation.

If we join together only, we can move forward by correcting ourselves.

Apparently Sarath Fonseka is poised to speak out in parliament on all what he knows regarding the LTTE confiscated gold jewellery and drug laundered money including an account of all the forfeited money which was meant for purchase of weapons and maritime assets. All of which were handed over to MR and his brother Gota by KP and others, in return for guarantees of safety to their lives and freedom from persecution. He was there as witness when it happened and he now gets the opportunity to fix these traitors in style. No wonder they made KP Vice President of the SLFP party and allowed him to have his own way until Yahapalanaya govt took over. Now we can expect them to be in a soup – big time.

        4

Sach, read again. Who said KP Secretary? I wrote KP made VP of SLFP.

Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan (nom de guerre: Colonel Karuna Amman, also known as KP. After giving up arms and entering politics, he was appointed as a National List Member of Parliament for the ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), the party of President Mahinda Rajapakse in 2008, and sworn in as Minister of National Integration on March 9, 2009. He later joined the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the largest party in the UPFA, and on April 24, 2009 he was appointed a Vice President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

It is a lie that Rajapakshe wanted to sow – to escape from the allegations.

You please comare it with the allegations being made now against them.

I can believe – that SF would never stay away, if anything is due. He is so blunt by nature.

If police would work together with him, nodoubt, lanken law and order system would work as a water drop fell on to a lotus leave.

Yes, they did the dry run at Homagama with their saffron brigade to test the pulse of My3,and Ranil and but the twins got the message loud and clear. All the intention of MR and clan was to create hawk in the nation using their foot soldiers to save their skin.

To deal with it My3 and Ranil safely kept away their best weapon our Hero Field Marshal SF until the need arise. Now they brought him to the fore. It’s well and clear that he would get the Law and Order subject and would deal with these elements accordingly.

They wouldn’t be able to bally balls with Field Marshal SF, the Nation and the government need his services very badly, and the time is right now for it. All those who have the intentions of making trouble, have to watch out.

    How cool…

Now Batalanda Ranil has not only the White Judges, UN Prosecutors,British expert witnesses, and Suren Suredran in his pocket but also the Chief eye Witness to jail our brave Commanders for killing the White Flag waving innocent TNA supporters who were leased to Pirahaparan to create the Homeland.

      It is indeed

.Where was the political wisdom of Field Marshall at the time of General Elections ? Self esteem is good to an extent but an overdose of it can kill everything as was evident at the elections by going alone.

Now that he is in political wilderness it appears like many other politicians just to gain personal benefits would sacrifice any and all principles that hitherto has been preaching.

Not withstanding his Military background it would not be too long before he too falls prey to many booby traps that lie in the Political minefield.

AT LAST, if we see this really happen then see SF getting Law and Order and / or Defence Secretary’s post, the government and the people can see justice and an end to corruption.

I personally know that SF never expected, asked or took any ‘bakshi’ when he was in the Army. He is out-spoken, sharp and knowledgeable.

Also, it will make it more difficult for GR and Co. implement his stated intent of “bringing peace”.

      1

Really? How did the son in law make 80 million selling stuff to the Army? He was in oblivion politically. Ranil is using him for another purpose. SF is suffering from severe PTSD.He also seeks revenge because of the injustices done to him by the Medamulane boys. He will not hesitate to harm them. On his own he had no political credibility and only way he can survive as a politician is to hitch his broken wagon to Ranils shining star class tractor. He hated Ranil, he hated Chandrika, he now hates MR. People in the military know all about his abusive behaviour.

Today having listend to what JVP had made clear (AKD used the langague that guilliable masses would comphrehend it) – FCID is acceptable body – Rajakashes and their kith and kin are against it since they know that there will be problems if it would go searching anyone who grabed TAX PAYERs funds. He spoke even about Karapinchcha mitiya – and the taxes being taken thorugh that.. etc. The kind of langauge is the best to OPEN eyes of the gawkey easy targets which are the prey of Rajakashe/Wimalburuwa… People get up get up.. time has come to react.

Lah Lah ‘s wild lions did not have the habit of letting women walk in the jungle peacefully alone. But the Lankawe lions won’t let them even hide inside their homes. Ranil continuously convulsing to prove that he was the one saved the war crime committed Lankawe’s army.

Ranil avoided signing the Rome Statute. He went to New York on Old King Government’s money to press Ban-Ki-Moon to abandon the UNSG’s Expert Panel Report. That is how he tried to prove that he was the one saved the Rapist Army of the Wildlife Sanctuary. Now by adding Ponner into his team he has passed another mile stone. So far no one directly accused of war crime (out of the 47 official named by OSIL) has been included in UNP. That was hurting UNP’s(that is owned by Don Stephen, Junious Richard, Richard Premadasa…. ) pride.

Ranil has fixed that short fall now.

The only reason Fonny is getting to the Parliament by hook or by crook is to get revenge from the Rajapaksa brothers for jailing him. Hasn’t he asked for the Law and Order portfolio? This is definitely because he wants to jail the Rajapaksa brothers and their families.

Fonny was never elected. I fail to see how the UNP can provide a back door entrance to this foul mouthed arrogant man.

S.F knows LTTE saga is over because of MS – RW- CBK -JVP – JHU interactions and the bond in which Late Ven Sobitha and S.F played catalyst role along with many other civic groups.
So S.F knows country should come first. Eradication of undesirable forces who took the country in the wrong path after 2009 must be made politically bankrupt with the support of the people.
In short, basing on the SL laws, MaRa Bros & Co must be forced to give up active politics. That has become a pre requisite since Jan 8, 2015. So carry on with yahapalanya.

The only Field Marshall of the Srilankan Army whom the UNP reckoned was not good enough up to be even the Commander of the Srilankana salvation Army, now is a Senior Minister in Yahapalanaya,

Ironically UNP Christian Faction Leader and the Yahapalana PM gave the FM ,this all powerful new gig.

Which some Yahapalana suckers boast as a tremendous boost or a shot in the arm for the Defense Ministry of Law and Order Ministry and even Batalanada Ranil’s unofficial Hunting Police Ministry, which is currently under the JVP Prince Anura..

My Elders tell me the Field Marshall called the Yahapalana Ministry is full of crooks , bribe takers and nincopoops, soon after the UNP won the Election with a handsome majority and formed Government.

But the Field Marshall couldn’t win even a seat for himself. let alone his Party. .

It fact he even quantified the number of crooks as 60 % of the total.

Of course it was before Batalanda Ranil gave him the Field Marshall title.

My Elders now want to know whether that 60 % which the FM quoted has come down or gone up?…

Kasmaalam I am worried about your deteriorating health.

        Trinco Sam…..Cool Man..Why couldn’t I think of it.?.

Then again he is more of a Trinco man now than a Vellala Sambandan, after signing his MOU with the UNP, Solheim and Suren Surendran in London.

And forcing his beloved CM to join the Non Vellala TNGTE full on ,and take total control of the Peninsula.

Is the Reverend still with Surendran?..

I was away on Independence day, playing Golf in Trincomale.

Trying to stop my Handicap going up like our Yahapalana LKR.

I heard the Thamil rendition of our Sinha Le anthem. And it was cool too.

The Kawadi Drums in between would have added an extra dimension .

Wonder whether Trico Sam joined in.

They can’t understand why all those road constructions and other commercial activities have come to a stop all of a sudden.

And why their youngsters can’t find any laborer jobs any more.

Even if they heard about Singapore Mahendran they wouldn’t have a clue about Bonds, let alone working out current Interest Rates and how they can be fixed to accommodate juicy commissions.

But they are wondering why so many Bikkus are going behind bars,( not the bars which you guys frequent , mind you ) and why their one time adopted son Anura Kumara and his one time secret cadres don’t visit them.

Obviously Anura Kimara can’t tell them that he took LKR 25 Lakhs from Batalanda Ranil.

Specially when they still remember what Prema from Keselwatta did to their sons, after rounding them up as suspects for the JVP cadres killing UNP supporters.

They are also puzzled by Abiththaya always standing next to Batta Ranil, and listening to Namo namo Matha in Thamil.

But they don’t know anything about Megapolis,,, right..

They told me they have heard Polle Polis though.

I don’t know whether they were referring to the Embilapitiya Police who broke in to the Periods Party asking for free Gal arrack from the host.

          Dear Sumanasekara

Being a poor dalit boy that is how I address all my friends.

Even after going through your reply a number of times, I did not find the answer to my simple question.

Let me first begin by saying that I am neither a supporter of Batalanda Ranil nor Bodhi Sira (in your own words). You see, I have been around for so long to realise that none of these so called elite leaders can bring prosperity to the island. Whether it be under the disguise of “Yahapalanya”, “Asiyawe Aascharya”, “Divi Neguma”, “Nathi Bari Aya, Athi Haki” or going further back to “Dharmishta Samajayak” and even “Handen Haal” are simply political slogans. At least I have some respect for Keselwatte Prema not because he was faultless.

I doubt your elders sit in their little huts chewing beetle leaves all day. According to the news I am getting one of them is currently planning to dash one lakh of coconuts to gods as a sign of protest. I would be ashamed to call him one of my elders. I understand that Tsunami MR is busy visiting covering all the Buddhist temples around the island after his dismal election failures. Poor fellow did not have the wisdom to realise that horoscope Sumane (not one of your cousins, is he?) was a CIA agent.

I agree with your elders to a certain extent that they cannot understand what is going on during Yahapalanaya rule. I sometimes wonder myself. But isn’t it a bit rich for them to complain. Sure, the appointment of Telecom chairman does not hold water with Yahapalanaya preaching. But, at one stage there was huge family tree including the positions of Defence Secretary, Minister for Economic Development, Speaker and Minister of Airport & Aviation, Chief Minister Uva and Diyawadana Nilame, Chairman of SL Airlines, Private Secretary to Minister of Finance and even Ambassadors to USA & Russia. So, I think it is a case of the Pot calling Kettle Black.

Law & order situation in the country is worsening with the rebellious
monks taking to streets to protest against Govt. decisions and the
perpetrators of several crimes like corruption, nepotism and political
thuggery and murders, moving about freely in the country or abroad due to incompetence of the law enforcement officials and it is the right time to have some one like in the calibre of Fld. Marshall Fonseka to put and end to it. He should be appointed as a minister in charge of the Home Land security with Police and other intelligence services coming under him. He should form a strong net work so that the country’s security is not targeted and perpetrators of crimes put behind bars.He should be given a free hand to ensure security of the country and people and Justice minister Rajapakse should be moved to another ministry as he could interfere in arrests of high profile cases. Some one suggested that he should be given the defence minister position but that will not work as there is no war going on and he has his enemies in the military as well and they can be easily stirred up against him as military is divided as far the loyalty is concerned. Defence minister position should be always held by the President, who could give direct commands to the armed forces in the event some disturbance takes place in the country.

Hope RW and the President give him this position and see how he performs.

If Fonseka had any self respect he would not be joining UNP/F . When he was fighting the war WHO ridiculed ?….

I can say his ONLY motivation is revenge from Rajapakse’s for imprisoning him. I don’t agree with his imprisonment BUT those who seek revenge in politics NEVER succeed.

Fonseka would be used to pinpoint people as war criminals from the Sri Lanka forces..perhaps including Gotabhaya Rajapakse.

This in turn allows Ranil+Chandrika+India+West along with yours truly Tamils to carve up a Tamil Homeland in the Northern+Eastern Provinces (The NorthEastern region) of Sri Lanka.

It would be IRONIC to see the very UNITARY state that Fonseka so committed fought for would be dis-membered and approved by himself NOW as a politican.

I feel sorry for those yong Sinhala-Buddhist (mostly) young men from remote Sinhala-Buddhist Villages that laid down their lives for the state under the leadership of PEOPLE like Sarath Fonseka , WHO would without SHAME can forget the memory of those youngmen so gallantly gave their life in service of this land.

Good luck to you Mr. Fonseka . I hope you find what you are looking for.

There is no way Sarath Fonseka can serve usefully and efficiently as a Minister – going by his IQ, education and established intelligence. However, he has one single use – and that is to teach Rajapakses the lesson of their lives (MR, GR, BR and the spoilt, swollen-headed brats)
Fonseka is revengeful and brutal. He still has thousands of golayas in the army. The very thought of him holding a position of power will give the Rajapakse family more than ordinary diarrhea. If given half a chance, SF would like to physically tear the Rajapakses into pieces with his own bare hands. CBK will be there by the side – cheering him on. CBK and Fonseka are like jaddiyata moodiya – to use a local expression.

This is why those in power in 3rd world countries like this, should remember to use power judiciously and, as far as possible, justly.
Rajapakses did not do that. They went about emptying the resources of the poor country in the belief they are there to stay – forever.

I feel sad for this man for the way he was thrown to the dust bin by the voters. He is a badly defeated man who managed to obtain only 5000 votes. His followers had already left him and he is only left with the titles and some brass medals. Please treat him as a war hero/

The move of unity between RW and SF is a strategy to counter any situation that may arise if MS is displaced in the SLFP.
