The General Secretary of the Sinhala Ravaya Magalkande Sudatta thera and Badalkumbura Ariyashantha thera, who surrendered this afternoon to police, were remanded by the Homagama
Magistrate till February 9, 2016, for their alleged unruly behavior outside the Homagama court complex on January 26th.
Another four persons including Buddhist monks, were also remanded yesterday in connection to the incident, where a group confronted police and blocked the road near the Homagama court complex refusing to let the prison bus carrying Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Galagoda Atte Gnanasara, after the Homagama Magistrate remanded him for allegedly threatening Sandhya Eknaligoda, the wife of missing journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda, during a court hearing last month.

“The General Secretary of the Sinhala Ravaya Magalkande Sudatta thera and Badalkumbura Ariyashantha thera, who surrendered this afternoon to police, were remanded by the Homagama”
Very Good. Chip Away at them.
If they can’t stay in the Temple, and not behave, Remand and Prison is the best place for them.
They are a shame to the Enlightened Buddha.

When all these so called ‘monks’ are jailed, let there be true peace and harmony amongst all communities living in the country, since these goons keep freaking us out through their sheer arrogance and bad behavior. They believe themselves to be the self appointed guardians of Buddhism in the country. They have already done enough damage by showing the dark side of Buddhism to the world, by showing no respect and through their attacks on those holding authority Very soon they will be spent forces and be made obsolete, when all the bills against religious intolerance towards others, committing hate crimes, abusiveness and use of foul language are made punishable offenses, and this legislation gets passed in parliament. That will be the day that they bite the dust. These disgusting and hopelessly raucous monks will have no place in society to run and hide their faces, as they be shunned and will stand exposed. Their slide downwards has already begun, and the screws are tightening on them slowly but surely, more to see in their panic in desperation.

Batalanada Ranil is going the whole hog..
Only Malwatta Chief and his golayas will be left to protect Buddha Sassana and chant Pirith to Batalanda.
The Cousin must be over the moon.
Extending the Welikada Prison should be the first item on Abiththaya’s Megapolis.
Because our South would not allow Buddhist Monks at Boossa Detention centre.

No problem… can start using the Death Sentence then… Guess will be needing many gallows and hangmen, or why bother, just throw them to the crocs……
/
Dayan / February 2, 2016
I understand your frustration but capital punishment should never be legalized. Just imagine if someone like MR comes into power again while Capital Punishment is legal? Just imprison them and let them rot in prison like the worthless animals they are.

“just throw them to the crocs……”
I suspect there aren’t enough crocodiles to feed all those crooks.
Who is going to throw the last one, that is you?

Take it easy. Let there be law and order
in the land

Easy on him, Lankan. He must be thinking that the governments are managed like what his idol, His Royal Highness Kurakkan Maharaja, did!

KA Sumanasekera / February 2, 2016
Lankan,
I always do. man..
But our Dalits can’t because they are getting screwed big time..
Are you talking about Bond Commission fixers, Hirunickers and convicted LTTE Tigers are walking free while our Dalit Nikaya Monks, Brave Soldiers and good business people being locked up because Batalanada doesn’t like them.
Or the Yahapalan financiers, and Yahapalana Elders force Batalanada Ranil to dislike them?…
/
BBS Rep / February 3, 2016
KAS,
The biggest LTTE killers who walk free, KP and Karuna are doing so because of your hero MR. So don’t blame Batalanda but blame your boss MR.

So what’s happening with those ‘wise’ prelates (aka the Sangha) our President wants to help him with governance?
“Silence is golden”???
These bogus ‘monk(ey)s’ should be disrobed and exposed for the frauds they are by the Sangha post haste, if they (the Sangha) have even a vestige of Buddhist morality.
Has this Sangha ever commented on these thugs like Gnanasara and others of his type that contaminate Buddhism in Sri Lanka? If not, what the hell is their purpose?
And these are the guys that the President wants to advise him on governance???

Manel / February 2, 2016
Time these rogue monks were told that they are violating the law, by interfering in our courts, and interfering in the proceedings. They have become a bunch of arrogant, and violent thugs in saffron robes, bringing shame to their religion and teachings. If they want to behave like hooligans, they must leave the clergy, and not wear those robes, which according to their Teacher represents peace, tolerance, and decency.
It is time the leaders in the government were stern with these rowdies, and those bigots causing communal strife, like the BBS. They must be dealt with harshly, and made into examples. It seems they are only getting worse, and getting away with their bullying, threats, and crude behavior. No one is above the law, even Buddhist Monks.
/
VP / February 2, 2016
He needs to go on a diet first.
/
Raizuh Langai / February 2, 2016
If Ranil was implicated, why MR was silent when he was almighty? This is all about arresting persons who had made the court look like a fishing market. The Law had been applied correctly and the nation salutes the Magistrate in this regard.
/
Adrian / February 2, 2016
What a society. What good can one learn from these monks? Begging?
/
Jim softy / February 2, 2016
This is completely political. Ranil wickramsinghe thinks these monks are helping Mahinda Rajapakse.
Ranil will see the result
/
BBS Rep / February 3, 2016
I disagree with you Jimmy boy.
These thugs in saffron robes belong in jail. If you want the people of Sri Lanka to live in a civilized world they should incarcerate all thugs, rabble rousers, racists and the like especially those cowards who use the ‘sivura’ to protect them against the law.
