Sirisena Dances To Faizer’s Tune: Halts Mirissa Illegal Structure Demolition

President Maithripala Sirisena has ordered the suspension of the removal of illegal dwellings on the Mirissa beach, despite court orders being granted for the removal.

Sources said that three ministers led by Faizer Mustapha had called on the President to halt the removals, after the Coast Conservation Department (CCD) said they were to go ahead despite Mustapha’s attempts to influence.

Earlier in the month a group of Dutch tourists were sexually harassed and assaulted thereafter by waiters of an illegal restaurant in the area.

Following the reports many tourists and locals continued to detail incidents of harassment, sexual abuse and physical assault in Mirissa, on Social media.

The BBC SInhala in an investigative story on Mirissa dated 28th April 2018 detailed an experience of a British woman who was attempted to be raped after the Beach boys had drugged her boyfriend in 2018.

Many others said that the sexual and physical assaults were a common occurrence in the area.

However, following the revelations Mustapha had throughout objected to any moves to regulate Mirissa.

The CCD had identified 17 illegal structures operating in the area and had obtained court orders for demolition. However, Musthapaha issuing a press statement objected to it.

The tourism ministry does not fall under the purview of Mustapha nor is he a member representing the area.

Questions have been raised by many regarding Mustapha’s involvement. Police sources told the Colombo Telegraph that Mustapha is a frequent visitor of the area and that he was present on the night the most recent sexual and physical assault incidents had occured. CCTV footage viewed by Colombo Telegraph shows the minister and members of his entourage present at the party on April 8, 2018.

Sources from the CCD said that Mustapha had exerted enormous pressure on them to halt the removals. “He kept calling the Director and we said there is no provision to stop it”.

As soon as his influence was not yielding results he had reportedly sought the intervention of President Sirisena.

Well done Mr President, another issue for the Rajapakses and the BBS to riot over.

President has become a puppet in all forms

He would rather support Rajapakshes and their men than anyone else.

He has forgotten the begining… and for what reason the man is elected by 6.2 voters.

People s hopes have ended up all hopeless levels.

He does not even talk about as to why the man …. even if he held high talks prior to local elections, today about investigations against crimes deliberately made by former men
He made public statments about his swode, but his swode has lost from his hand or been stolen by Rajapakshes.. and they have now been waiting to cut his neck next.

H ahah… Uneducated man who has not the least knowledge about the need of the improvement of the society, … cant help here. should be very clear to us.
He does everything to the manner he did it with DISMISSAL of FCID commissioner…REASONING something else.

What the Minister of Tourism should have done was pretend to do nothing in the first instance. Then Sira on cue would have ordered demolition. Sira is known for reversing decisions, not making them.

Lunatic humbug of a president and his stupid ministers. When next time, if one wants to get ride of an illegal toilet, the Silly president would stop it. Due to these kinds of actions of those in power, the country has become ungovernable.

The Bane and Buffoon of this Country. What part of illegal dont these imbeciles understand. BTW can the President overrule the Courts? if yes what the point of having a system thats ineffective. Even Trump, had his executive orders stayed by the court. No wonder we are at such a low ebb in our history. Sirisena needs to be send home packing with all these other leeches.

Very bad experience! This will encourage the errant rapists to continue their illicit activities in these illegal Guesthouses/Restaurants etc.

President cannot over rule a court order. He is exceeding his powers if he does that. The Constitution specifically provides for the separation of powers between the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary. Faiza_Mustapha being a lawyer should know that the President should not interfere in the implementation of a court order. This stupid President is trying to bring down the Government. with such arbitrary action.

Could it be that FAIZER is compromised/blackmailed by Drug Barrons in Mirissa, who operate illegally along the beach? Why would this clown bother so much otherwise? With this kind of corrupt political lunatics, we can never change things in SL. Sirisena has long over-stayed his welcome. Time has come to start packing his bags to be sent to Polonnaruwa.
    Cheers!

This proves that this president is a ‘dummy’ who is unable to implement the laws of the land, that he is willing to allow crimes and thuggery to please his sycophants purely for political survival.
What will foreign tourists who witnessed recent assaults, attempted rape and assaults on tourists feel.
Sri Lanka may soon be taken off the ‘tourists map’ by organisations who sponsor tourism, the hotels may have to close and crime will increase unfettered.
How has Mustapha been influenced – were some of the assailants close him, or his henchmen.

Best would be to bring new laws standing against BEACH BOYS.
That can bring a new face to lanken tourism industry.

Most just try to be guides being on the coastal areas are just Male Prostitutes.
Those then come to Europe and just spread all evils to eruope. I have seen some guys that would do anything and everything to become rich would do anything with visiting tourists.
Those tourists too would abuse them since for them that is too cheap.
This has been a real problem to developing world … where tourism is their one of the main means of getting foreign exachange.
So long our leaders in power would not see these issues with a broader eye, things would not change easily.

I believe, we could welcome lot more tourists, if all the fears of tourists would have been thrown away.
Just because of bunch of parasites- coming from low background as beach boys seem tob e destroying lanken tourism.

It is wrong to spread that srilanka is one of the fearful destinations in the world.

There are also some that add to air lanken men would not respect foreign women.
If some would do, those should be piunished… by laws.

WE NEED RIGOURS LAW AND ORDER SETTINGS IN THAT AREAS TOO:

Beach boys that sell themselves to any tourists men and women should be banned from lanken coastal areas.

There should be special units in POLICE and ARMY to protect the coastal areas of the country.
Now with no war is there, ARMY can do lot more in the protection of coastal areas.
We only need good laws as is the case in Singapore and Germany.

    • 0
      0

Good suggestion! It is the best if Army can be deployed to patrol the beach areas under the strict supervision of their commanders!

      • 0
        0

The problem is if lanken kind of Army would do the job or worsen the situation becoming themselves the replace to Beach boys.
We cant rely on lanken folks.
They would do anything and everything not leaping twice.
That has been the reason society to become as it is today. They dont respect laws.
Even Vedda community would do it better but not average srilankens
        They dont care about disipline.
        Disipline should start from Kindergarten.
But if Kindergarten are being run by teachers or educators with lack of knowledge they will end up in vain again.

We talk high, but we cant even run good kindergarten in this country.
Highly corrupted political goons have abused this nation to all depths.

In my youbnger days, there had been BALU KABARA INTHE COUNTRY.

Meaning stray dogs were caputured by them by a jeep. So everyone was afraid of balukapara coming to the village.

Likewise, we have to develop a system to hunt BEACH BOYS and any kind of criminals that violate laws of the country.

There should be no pardon against anyone that break the law.

Srilanka has been branded as gay paradise in Europe

Bangkok is for females, Srilanka is for males.

This is the bitter reality whoever whatever being said and done to polish the image of the country.

That had been so even before the civil war started.

Just because they the police or others would not react accordingly putting the law and order above the system.

Highly corrupted country as no other.

Pakistan has broken records on their nature, but Srilanka is no better to their eyes today.

Instead of acceding to this pompous ass lawyer’s request, Gamarala should have reprimanded him for making such a suggestion! Will Gamarala fire the Director? Remains to be seen!

This shit Mustapha must be in the pay of the beach boys and drug peddlars. An immediate investigation must be carried out by the CID on Mustaphas connections with the drug kings and rapists. Of course the slimy patholaya Prez must also be getting some benefits from these criminals. Expand the investigation to get rid of this slimeball who cam to power with the good governance slogan and is now completely obstructing justice. Also check whether the Daughter of the Prez has been given a liquor license to operate in Mirissa.

It is impossible to carry out investigation about drug peddling without losing the Muslim vote bank. So forget it and learn to live with Sinhala youths taking to drugs.

Please resign NOW if you haven’t got the courage to stand up to a guy like Faizer Mustapha.
    .
As for Faizer, what excuse can we find for this smooth talking, trilingual, well educated and clever lawyer who always seems to do the wrong thing. He should be leading the Muslim community himself in matters like MMDA, and defending them against racist attacks. Instead this is the level to which he sinks!
    .
More than any others he, as a lawyer, should know the effect of his unwarranted actions are.
    .
May the heavens save us: we seem to have a President and a Prime Minister both equally incapable tackling any real problems, but very keen on attacking each other.

Sinhala Man, the whole political set up stinks! As you quite rightly put it, the President hasnt got the backbone to stand up to Mustapha. MR with all his faults would have sent Mustapha packing, if he was similarly approached when President.

MR – rightly or wrongly has shown up as a clear leader with plenty of backbone; MS – a mere follower who lets sheep lead him as someone said.

As for RW, he doesnt care, as long as he gets to be the Leader of the Opposition if he has to vacate the Premiership!

If the rank and file in both the UNP and the SLFP do not see what is written on the wall, they are not just blind, but deaf and very dumb as well.

        Justice,

I agree with you to someextent.

But no right to say that Rajapakshes had backbones. He was a prisoner in his dynasty. Meaning 10% PERCENT and babaric Gota had been puppeting him.
Today all these become even clearer.
They have a power struggle, rascal siblings have looted and ruined the country to all ends.
What is facing today is what those high criminals sowed as germs.

Rajapakshes are unethical and born rascals.

The president and Mr. Mustapha will take responsibility for the next rape or murder that might happen on the beach.

Oh, I see… so this is the new Sri Lanka we are heading for. Illegality is fine as long as the votes are forthcoming…….. Shame on us.

No wonder we are still “developing” after 70 years of independence. We will continue to “develop” this way, in the reverse!! No country can advance if it continually subverts its own Laws.

No faith whatsoever in the politics of this country. It really stinks!

Now the question is: Can a President OVERRULE a Court Oder? What this Minister, Mustahpa should have done was to go to courts to obtain an “interim injunction” until the matter is further reviewed. Where are the “Advisers” to the President and his Secretary? This is how the entire STATE and Government Institutions are brought to disrepute by the very own custodians. This “DANCING” will not last long.

    • 1
      0

Douglas, Dancing cant last as he has no beat of his own. He survives on every beat he hears and dances on the lonely achcharu beat when he overrules Court orders. No rule of law. Tragedy of lack of CIA/KGB/Intelligence/Advisers but only life threateners.

why cant the high court bring in a contempt of court case against drug peddling Mustapha and the patholaya prez MS for breaking a court order. Jail the shits and teach them a lesson that politcos have no f…g right to interfere with the judiciary process and verdicts. As a lawyer Mustapha gonas interference is disgraceful and the bar association must have this shit debarred from practicing as a lawyer as he does not understand the law.

Faisr Musthapa is a Maithripala Sirisena afan. A few different attacks happened against tourists. All look fishy. all involved politicians. IT looks all targetted at the incumbanrt president’s at times. What the CT says is people drink BEER and not Sweet beverage and make fights and Reign indecency. Even the killed British -muslim and the injured russian woman (she had not been raped) by a thuggish politician, a mahinda Rajapkse amn during the Mahinda Rajapakse govt looked very fishy. This looks both Faizer Mustapha and MY3 are in hot seats. Bond Scam is neglected, Ranil, UNP, Mangala Samaraweera, RAvi Karunanayake are saints and good for advertisements to pass some one’s message.

What is Faizer Mustapha’s reason for halting illegal structures?
There is a duly obtained court order to remove illegal structures. How could the Police maintain law and order of this country if the President and a minority Minister defy even court orders?
The Coastal Conservation Department should go ahead as it is their duty. Who stops them? The President who is also the Minister of Environment.!!!! LOL

IT looks some one definitely wanted Maithripala Sirisena to lose the Mirissa Electorate. Who is it Ranil or Mahinda Rajapakse. Because, there are no any police inqauires or complaints, what I heard when Faizer Mustapha went there two vagabond guys came there and began a fight. MY3, can remove the structures, those people lose jobs and the result will be MY3 will be lost in Mirissa. these are all accusations and nothing else to prove. I heard when Mahinda Rajapske was asked about this he had said ” I don’t say I did not do it”.
