Sirisena Makes Another False Promise: Pledges To Appoint New PM If Parliament Follows Standing Orders

President Maithripala Sirisena, who reneged on his promises on the no-confidence motion against Mahinda Rajapaksa multiple times, now says he is ready to appoint a new Prime Minister if the legislature follows Standing Orders.

Sirisena

Sirisena, addressing party leaders on a previous occasion, said he would accept the no-confidence motion against Rajapaksa if Parliament passed it minus the first clause. When the Legislature passed the NCM against Rajapaksa for the second time as requested by Sirisena, the latter refused to fulfil his promise.,

Speaking to Sunday Times yesterday, Sirisena had stated that he would appoint a new Prime Minister “if Parliament follows Standing Orders and shows a majority.”

“If Mahinda Rajapaksa has the majority in Parliament, he can continue with the government without any obstacle. If it is proved that Mr Rajapaksa does not have a majority, I believe he will take a decision,” he told the Sunday Times.

“I have no possibility of re-appointing Mr Wickremesinghe. I will stick to that principle,” he said. The newspaper also reports that Sirisena, at a UPFA meeting at the Presidential Secretariat on Friday, has requested Mahinda Rajapaksa to continue in office, despite two no-confidence motions being passed against him in Parliament.

Sirisena always made fake promises since he came to power. I don’t know much about him prior to 2015.

I’m sure the Fake PM and family too is involved in the Bond scam along with RW ‘s man Mahendran,.
There was no thunder or lightening erupted from MR & offsprings on the subject of extraditing Mahendran. Just a show , to show the Punnak eating Modayas in improsoning Aloysious and Palisena.
MR boys were good friends of Aloysious with money transfers.
They enjoyed the good life together.
RW was the source in bringing in Royal friend Mahendran in to Central Bank.
Now everyone is cookooing of extraditing Mahendran. In fact the super crooks involved are back footing because of their involvement I guess.
Just Analysing the pattern of fraud and convictions.
They all have hands in the Cooky Jar. So it’s all a tangled web mystery.
All 3 of them are protecting each other RW, MR and MS. Each has books on each other , so it’s a web tangled for ever.
Why? Why ?? RW kept his mouth shut for 3. 1/ 2 years?? With all the criminal cases against each other?? , was this Match made in heaven or hell?? Mystery?? I Guess!!

      Sirisena,

This can be very easily solved. You only have to cut all the crap and just say one thing. Say loud and clear that you do not intend to run for a second term as you promised in 2015.

If not your motives are too transparent …… only fodder for Polonnaruwa and Hambanthotta Einsteins.

I think you are being bit harsh on Hopper Sirisena who said “I have no possibility of re-appointing Mr Wickremesinghe. I will stick to that principle,”

He has a variety of principles to choose from, depending on the circumstances he will chose it from this, that or the other principle. If you don’t like it you are free to choose from your own principles. I do it all the time myself, the only problem is I have a very limited range of principles to select from.
        Have good day.

          mike,

“, even his testicles have been replaced with that of a dog. No wonder he can’t perform!”

I thought his testicles too dissolved, when he illegally and unconstitutionally dissolved the Parliament. So, he got new testicles, that of a dog. My sympathies to the dog for having to donate the testicles to a fake Traitor like Sirisena.

That is why he likes the company of dogs like the Rajapaksa Mafia. Whenever he sees them, the first thing he does is to go behind them and check things out. If anyone doubts this, just look at his nose. It’s always brown. When military intelligence advised him to desist from such kinky behaviour as it could backfire and blowup in his face, the horny Sira had replied, “This is the only thing that gives me at least a momentary relief during this hellish nightmare I am caught up in.”

    Frustrating

Assume that RW has majority but there’s a negative impression probably created in president due to CB bond scam.
( Why should RW be given such support by party men when it’s probably visible that has had links with the said fraud. Refusing it is easy but people strongly believe his hands in it.)

In that case the president should be given an ethical right not to appoint RW, so UNP MPs & minority parties should corporate with the president by nominating another person for that position placing country on top.

It’s UNP MPs undue respect for RW that has created the present impasse.

UNP & minority Tamil & Muslim parties should change their stand & come up with another opposition MP for PM ship

        Fathima

You can’t help when this one man has been empowered to make arguments like that.

Be matured enough understand that in the present context, mandate & majority are 2 different things.
People’s mandate had been for the 2 main figures to be together; now they’re apart so the mandate is void.

Why can’t UNP volunteer for fresh mandate, probably with new leadership if they’re so confident that there’re people with them?

        • 5
          1

It is not about RW or MR or RW or Sajith, it is about constitutional or unconstitutional. Don’t tell me “mandate is void, so the constitution is also void”

            0

            Fathima

Think democratically & ethically as well.

Assume you’re the president having a PM with a mandate from people for a cause together with you but after 3 months forget the cause & disregard collective decision making when required & @ least apparently involve in looting the CB in some form.

Isn’t it frustrating that your inability to appoint another from the ruling party due to their lack of support?

Isn’t it frustrating that your sacking of un-tolerable PM of the minority govt. is receiving support from racially based minority parties to cling in to the position & international community too are partial towards that corrupt person?

Isn’t it frustrating to see if you’ve been made handicapped by grabbing the power to dissolve the house by an amendment to the constitution (which should be taken as your sacrifice for the respect for the people’s mandate)?

In such a development when a court decision as well is pending, what’d you do other than president is doing now?

          • 0
            0

            Fathima

It must be emphasized that mandate is void

So the minority govt. & it’s PM shouldn’t get unethical support from small parties to hang on to power that’s unfriendly to the president & people.

President is the head of the state & he’s elected by the people. UNPs claim that it’s the UNP put him into power is one of the silliest statements ever made in SL politics.

” People’s mandate had been for the 2 main figures to be together; now they’re apart so the mandate is void. “

Where did you live in during 2015 election time? PM comes though the parliament. (That is why Old King could not become a PM, now.) Ranil had been elected on different mandate years ago. So if fresh common mandate was sought in Jan 2015, only New King should have adjusted his manifesto to match with what Ranil had released earlier; not the other way around. They never asked for common mandate.

There is no provision in 1978 constitution to seek a common mandate for a PM and EP. You are an imbecile, have no idea of what are you struggling to concoct.

If you want a fresh candidate, it is EP election date is coming first; or New King should resign even, if he wants faster than that.

It was not proven that RW is involved in the CB issue and it was Sirisena who created the bad publicity where to tarnish Ranil and UNPs image as there so many other big Fraud cases were hidden by him including MR’s cases and also note AM was managing MRs bank account overseas. I agree Ranil should be replace with the young leader from UNP but MS does have the right to be adamant like this.

With the sole intention of buying time, for Mahinda to find the majority by hook or crook, Sirisena is rejecting the thrice passed NCM showing some lame technical issues. But he resorted to a political coup in appointing Mahinda as the PM. A thorn should be removed by a thorn. What the UNP should demand now is for Sirisena to appoint Mahinda through the Parliament as per the Constitution.

When will we ever realise ,The problem is not Sirisena ,The problem.is the Executive presidency ,we never know where this is going to end.

Now there seems to be signs of dangerous changes .

I personally feel ,Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe should swolllow his ego and step aside and let the President appoint PM from UNP ,I think he wants Sajith to take charge ,.

    qte.once Abraham Lincon Wrote ,
no matter what I do ,if the end brings me out as right whatever is said against me wont matter ,but if the end brings me out wrong ,even 10 angels swearing I was right will not change anything.
    unqte….

right now He needs to step aside and let the future decide .

he can let sajith take the PM and take up a position as investment Minister and work hard for the next one and half years and prove to the people.

The country and people will suffer if one of these men dont let go their ego.

The Excutive Presidency is extremly scary ,if it ever go to the hands of exetremly ruthless person it would be the end .

So far even a strong man like Mahinda bowed his head to the vote of the Mass, we dont know untill 2020 what will be the fate .

There is nothing more damaging to Rajapakse when he called him a murderer, swindler, abuser and would never ever have any dealing with him and would get justice for all victims of the former President and see he suffers in jail in open public and damn shame to Sirisena when he appoints the same man to be sent to jail, illegally as Prime minister.

How is he to face all 6.2 million who voted him to power solely on that pledge.

I would not have been spared had if I accused someone the way he did. I would have to pay in billions as damages. To make such an damning accusation in public and go back to him this bastard sirisena must be coming from gutter family.

Had if I would have done such a thing I would have committed suicide. Had if my father did such a thing as his son I would not have taken such a shame and would have committed suicide.

Had if I did such a thing my wife would not have withstood such a shame and would herself committed suicide.
Even his daughter has written how he burnt his own father’s paddy field and such a heartless scumbag.

It is also a shame on Rajapakse after having got back stabbed by Appa Sirisena and having been publicly accused him of committing murders, swindling money and many crimes he has purportedly committed join hands with him.

But still I will withhold my accusation against Rajapakse as another shameless person had if his joining Sirisena was with an ultimate objection to destroy him in the way Sirisena did to him. If so I will praise him as a courageous person and no one can blame Rajapakse for hitting Sirisena below the belt as he only repaid his debt he owed back to that bastard Sirisena.

It won’t be a surprise if the President appoints a Commission to probe into the activities of Ranil Wickremasinghe. If that is so, there should also be a Commission as to how Maithiripala Sirisena became the third richest politician all of a sudden in Sri Lanka as per Forbes Report for the year 2018. He even went to the extent of threatening a DIG’s son who was engaged in a conflict with the President;s son in Batticaloa, in stead of demanding his son to apologize to the DIG’s son which could have demonstrated him as a cultured gentleman. Moreover, what are his interests in the Colombo Port project (Sea Shell) and his relation ship with China? There cannot be a justice for one man. Is he jealous of Ranil Wickremasinghe just because Ranil Wickremasinghe is a cultured gentleman and influential among the Western democratic countries. It is sad that Maithiripala Sirisena has deviated from the democratic practice and leaning towards dictatorship. After all he was once arrested during Srimavo’s regime on suspicion of a JVP insurgent. There won’t be any doubt that eventually Maithiripala Sirisena would get trapped by Mahinda Rajapakse.

Underground story is that when Mahinda was in power last time, his black money was washed by the Previous Governor of the Central Bank who is now hiding in Singapore. This was channeled through is son in law who is now in prison.

  • 7

At the news conference with foreign correspondents, Sirisena was chocking with emotion. A leader wouldn’t be able to run a democracy with the rule of law with emotion. He should be thoughtful and rational, not give into emotions when running the affairs of the nation. His dream was a second term, when he realised that the support of Ranil and UNF not forthcoming, he started to attack them from all sides, and last trumpet he tried was to coy up to Rajapaksas to get their backing, by illegal, undermocratic and unconstitutional backdoor routes. Real stupid man, and not taking senner counsel in any thing he does. When all back fired, chocking with emotion. Shamelessly he is in bed with the very same lot whom he accused as murderers, thieves, robbers and utterly corrupt. Now they are good but Ranil bad for him. In what kind of machine, he washed them clean. Real joker and lunatic idiot of man. How dare, he could do this in a blink of an eye, betraying the trust of the 6.2 millions voted to make him the president. We too voted for him, thinking he going to be a better president but his conducts up until now not worth even two cents. It would be absolutely decent and honourable for him to leave for good for we had enough of him for he brought untold damage to good image of the country, and put the people in the harms way.

In 2015, when President Sirisena decided to appoint Ranil as the PM although he did not have the majority in Parliament, he would have assumed that Ranil is serious when he committed to ‘Yahapalanaya’. But within a short period of time after assuming duties as PM, Ranil violated the most important principle in ‘Yahapalanaya’ by robbing the Central Bank, not once but twice. At that moment, President Sirisena told Ranil to remove Arjun Mahendran but he refused that request and kept on defending him. After that President Sirisena saw how Ranil was working with his ‘Royal Gang’ and doing things completely ignoring the President and SLFP who was a partner in ‘Yahapalana’ Government. When things reached a situation that President no longer could tolerate Ranil’s actions and become a traitor, he wanted to get rid of Ranil but he did not want to abandon UNP. So he approach Karu and Sajith but for some reason which is not clear to us they were scared to go against Ranil. In the past, both these guys revolted against Ranil. Then only President turned towards Mahinda Rajapakse as the last resort to save this country from a political disaster. I am sure President will divulge these things in future. So do not blame President; he wanted to remove Ranil for the sake of the country but he did not betray UNP that helped him to come to power. For President’s decision to turn towards Mahinda Rajapakse, U.N.P. should take the blame. Fault is with guys who wanted to protect the thief.

    • 4
      1

      Eagle,
Ok. Assume that Sirisena had good intentions in appointing Ranil. Assume that Ranil violated in his committement to “Yahapalanaya” and couldn’t tolerate Ranils actions and he wanted to remove Ranil and appoint Karu or Sajith. Then you said he turned towards Mahinda Rajapakse. My question is why he turned towards Rajapakse who he said violated all his committements during his 10 year period. Why couldn’t he ask some one from SLFP who was in the government instead of SLPP? Even after he was appointed as PM as a member of SLFP he crossed to SLPP? Do you think SLFP is same as SLPP? Why couldn’t you appoint Nimal or Amunagama as PM? I strongly believe thaere was deal between Mahinda & Sirisena. The deal is about sharing money and power between two most corrupted individuals.

      • 1
        0

        Ajith,
“My question is why he turned towards Rajapakse who he said violated all his committements during his 10 year period.”
President Sirisena may have told such things under instructions from Chandrika and Ranil. We too blame him for uttering all that rubbish.
He turned to Mahinda Rajapakse because he has a proven record of fulfilling his promises. He promised to eliminate terrorisms and he did that. After fulfilling him main promise, he declared war to improve the economy. By the time Ranil took over the Government, economy was growing at 7.4%. All the economic indicators showed positive signs. When appointing a CEO, a person who has a proven record is preferred. In 2015, President did not follow that basic rule and appointed a CEO who had no proven record for achieving the objectives. In hindsight President realized the mistake and in 2018 he took the bald decision to correct that mistake.

There are two reasons to Impeach the President viz. (1) Acting in contravention of the Constitution and (2) INSANITY. Number (1) above is in place already. This President is now qualifying for Number (2). Just read through his Public Statements. In reading through, I feel he (MY3) has already become “INSANE” and only remains to be done is to subject him to a proper “Medical Test”. I am certain that he will be declared “INSANE”.
